The day has finally arrived…

Not a good day for the JB superfandom, as the (erstwhile “Camp Rock”) Jonas Brothers World Tour 2010 appears to have undergone some hasty restructuring, even as tourmates rehearsed away and Kevin & Danielle were prepping their packing plans.

The Sibling Revelry community appears to be particularly impacted by the reshuffling.  We may not be the ones panting that a tweet from one of the Bros will make our lives, or sneaking into meet & greets, or other demanding, frenzied activities of the fickle tween demo that is the commonly imagined JB fan –  but we ARE the superfans with itchy trigger fingers at the first second of the earliest presales – we travel, buy tickets for multiple shows – and a number of us live outside of the favored Northeastern and West Coast markets.

Clearly a day of huge disappointment for many, and I know our hearts go out to each other.  There’s always been much talk of the powers-that-be of JB management (“the PTB”, thanks for that one, Shelley!) and we can add this to the list of days when we wonder if the PTB have a clue (or care) about WDT (“we discerning types”, thanks for that one, SR charter readership! ;)).

To be fair…I’ve been reading a lot of Bob Lefsetz since Garbo & Papa J let that cat out of the bag and if I’ve learned anything from it – if the reason behind all this is indeed weak sales – the JBs are in no way alone in the struggle to repeat their previous bang-up summer sales (though the Camp Rock angle surely did NOT help).  They have some pretty healthy company in price drops and show cancellations.  We understand their struggle to run a viable tour and business, but it seems like there has to be a better way to deal with whatever is going on than cutting off your very biggest, heartland fans at the knees. So as some of us suspect, is there more at play than the bottom line?  Is there really a good reason for a revised schedule that leaves so many fans in the lurch?

Please feel free to continue to voice your most honest concerns and frustrations and thoughts here, over the jump, where – if this is all news to you – I’ve posted the text of the Brothers’ (via Team Jonas) letter of announcement/apology and the (irksome to some of us) PRNewswire release that went out in support of the tour revamp/cancellation/expansion.

Joe has graced us with a beautiful letter giving us all the details of his trip to Africa! It’s powerful, sweet, funny, and makes this super-fan glow with admiration. Just when I thought I couldn’t be more proud, I am.

He writes about life, happiness, adventure, and love. He encourages us all to take a look at our privileged lives, and remember that there are those in the world who have nothing. He also asks us to consider that possessions do not make our lives better, but allow us easily take our lives for granted.

I am doing it no justice, the letter really speaks for itself.

Read it after the jump!

What did we want?

When did we get ’em?

Getting highly anticipated tour dates is awesome, but I am not going to pretend that today’s announcement wasn’t dreaded by some in the Jonasphere. We dreaded it because of the rumors that have been swirling around for a few weeks. A Camp Rock Tour? With the cast of Camp Rock 2?  Sounds a little scary, right? To me it was.

I was scared because my nightmare vision involved more or less a production of Grease 2. Then I thought to myself, “Self, have the Jonas Brothers ever let you down when it got to brass tacks?” I could only answer “No.” (brass tacks being performing live). Am I a huge Camp Rock fan? Not really, but “Gotta Find You” is one of my MOST favorite JB songs performed live (Joe KILLS it every time), and I always enjoy “Play My Music” and “This is Me.” I am a fan of Demi, so there is no issue for me there. So I’m keeping an open mind and am looking forward to fighting for tickets on May 15.

Plus, I promised John Taylor I would go.

Joe, Kevin, Nick, and Demi were on Radio Disney this morning talking all about the tour and Kevin reassured us that they are touring as the Jonas Brothers (not Take 3). JB and Demi will be performing their own sets as well as together and with other CR2 artists.

I have not heard any of the CR2 songs yet (well this one), but I really enjoyed all of the Jonas related CR songs ( and “Our Time is Here” is one of my fave summer jams). Plus it sounds like there will be lots to do:

“From the minute you walk into the promenade – because we’re going to be playing amphitheaters during the summertime – it’s going to feel like a whole other world….It’s going to feel like you’re going to camp. There’s going to be things to do from the minute you walk in to the end of the night.”
–  Kevin Jonas from Kevin Jonas: Our Summer Tour Will Blow You Away By Bethany Powers, People Magazine, People Online, April 27, 2010

Hmm, sounds a little like Brad Paisley’s upcoming water themed tour.

I’m excited! I mean, it’s not a real summer without a Jonas show!

Check out a video of the Guys talking about the tour (and Cambio, and public service, and some other stuff – it’s a good video),  along with a clip of Kevin talking about the tour (and a cool “Field Trips for All” program Kevin is promoting) from our very own Fox 29 in Philadelphia!

TOUR DATES (tentative) after the jump!

Looking good out there!

So…still no definitive word on when we will next get to bask in the musical vibery of the Jonas boys et al, collectively or separately (can you believe “Who I Am” has been out for almost 2 months?  Where did the time go?) And the same goes for Bulldozer (we’re waiting! so patiently!) but this past week was a fairly busy one on an official level, anyway…

Joe & Demi surprised us (or at least me?) with an unexpected turn on the high profile (if not always hospitable) American Idol soundstage to perform their Friends for Change duet single “Make a Wave”. It was a polarizing choice for many fans, but they did an admirable job which received the usual fair balance of adoration & praise to criticism & disdain, from all the usual camps.  Joe redeemed himself at least a bit, in some eyes, for his less than stellar Idol judging stint, especially with the post-performance stage banter, and Joe & Demi continue to blur the lines & fuel plenty of chatter over their public/private pairing with a post-show visit to Ryan Seacrest (see below the chop).

The KCAs followed the typical awards show arc of a slow build to an ultimately anticlimactic result. The main benefit for Jonas fans was a new set of red orange carpet shots since – in contrast to their last visit to the KCA stage and their pretty adorable hosting duties at the Teen Choice Awards, what a difference a year makes! – they never touched the stage, neither to perform nor to collect a blimp in either of their nominated categories. (They were passed over as Favorite Musical Group in favor of the Black Eyes Peas, and Nick & Joe losing Favorite TV Actor to Dylan Sprouse.)  This all had a bit of a bizarro world tone to it, for anysuperfan who watched, but such is Nickelodeon, & kids, circa 2010. But I think Jonas fans and Jonases alike can easily take this “crushing defeat” with grace…right? 😉

Off the tube, we continue to be treated to pretty steady Twitter updates from Nick, Joe & Bulldozer. John Taylor celebrated his 28th birthday (Happy Happy, JT!).  John also gave confirmation that the suspected Papa Jonas Twitter is the real deal (and there’s some pretty sweet stuff in there). While Kevin remains….mysterious in that venue (love you anyway, Kevin!), is it just me or have Nick’s tweets been a little warmer, sweeter and less vague in the past few days?  I know I’ve enjoyed them.

All of this said, the biggest news of the week has to be saved for last.

You already know about it, I am sure. Like all good champions of their field, The Grog Blog has re-emerged from premature retirement. We have all experienced or heard of the power of JB bassist Greg Garbowsky’s blog in the past, and now the real deal is at hand again!!  If you haven’t yet, make sure to go back and read all of the old, now-revived posts (and videos!) before settling in for the future of Grog. And this is for you, Garbo:

After the jump, you’ll find a few videos from the weeks’ activities (Idol & KCA related).  What do you think of all these new developments?!

Well, this has been an interesting week for Jonas fans…

Just as more of us began to grow accustomed to to the Jonas Brothers hiatus which had a primary media focus on the Nick Jonas & the Administration Tour & lead-up to the side project’s impending album, with Kevin Jonas marriage news sprinkled in, another shakeup in the Jonasphere: Joe Jonas is most definitely back to work. Surely not in the same way that Nick is, but definitely *on*.  Real entertainment news outlets are talking about it now, so it’s officially fair game around these parts. So what of it, Revelers?

Jump with me…

Joevolution. [Stylin’]

Not to downplay his many other admirable qualities, but I’d have to be in deep denial not to be able to see that Joe Jonas has some seriously fascinating HURR.

I don’t think it’s shallow to say so, it’s a simple fact.

Because of the recent watershed moment in Joseph’s hair evolution, I think now is a good time as any to hop aboard the rollercoaster ride of Joe’s notable hairstyles since the JoeHawk…take to the jump and reminisce, mourn, celebrate, regret and/or praise in the comments!!

[And please also forgive the inclusion of at least one unauthorized pap shot…necessary evil to include my favorite shot of the JoeHawk Nouveau…]
