Finally!!!
Tonight we enjoyed an episode entitled Double Date, which might just as well have been entitled The One Where Joe and Stella Kiss, for all that anyone will remember anything else about it.
Pucker up and follow me over the jump!
Granted, in the pantheon of Great Screen Kisses, tonight’s smooch doesn’t come close to From Here to Eternity, Casablanca, or Gone with the Wind, but for a first kiss, it wasn’t too shabby.
I’m blanking…did the show have a plot? What else besides Stella and Joe’s lips was in the episode? I really can’t remember, so I’m counting on you Revelers. What did I miss while I was completely mesmerized by Joe and Stella’s lip lock?

ha ha, Joe did a cartwheel which I swear had my name all over it. LOL I love the gymnastics!!
and Nick baking is quite adorable, not to mention the bloopers and the interstitials being totally amazing, and Nick pretending to be asleep. And Kevin was goofy and cute too.
One of my favorite parts was when Joe was telling Stella to date Van Dyke, and Nick was saying, “stop talking…STOP TALKING RIGHT NOW”!
I loved “For the love of all that is Mike will you stop talking!” 😛
HAHA! I completely loved that part too. It took me awhile to figure out that he had said Mike!
That was my favorite scene!!! Haha…
I’ve seen he kiss, but not he whole episode yet (the Eagles are playing).
I did record it.
Can’t wait!
It was filled with goodness. 😀
The “more like honkytonk” comment was great as was “Brothers don’t let brothers act like fools. Kevin, I’m sorry I’ve let you down all these years.”
And Nick smiling to someone in the cafeteria when he said “STOP TALKING” so loudly.
And the cartwheel. Oh did I mention that already. 🙂
No Dad this week! I missed him! and would have liked more Macy. 🙂 Too bad Kevin didn’t take her out!
Loved Nick’s “Stop talking.” That was hilarious. One of my favorite parts of the episode.
Kevin on his sugar high. Hilarious.
Kevin & Nick’s faces at the end. Priceless.
Kevin talking to Nick about making cookies while Nick was “asleep”. Hilarious.
Kevin with the “5 minute Calculus test blues” (with harmonica) – which were really honky tonk- cute, funny.
Nick: “Brothers don’t let brothers make fools of themselves. Kevin, I’m sorry I let you down for so many years.” Hilarious.
Kevin and the “big brotherly advice arms” – sweet, cute.
When Joe is trying to tell Stella she can go out with Van Dyke:
Stella’s reaction: “First, wow. Second, Huh? Third – Huh? again.” Hilarious.
I will admit to being a sucker for romance and loving the kiss. I was on JonasHQ last week and saw a youtube video for the kiss. So I “expected” it. But the 2nd kiss was a surprise, and I was like, “Huh?” myself. But still loved it. 🙂 Then I went online and watched the whole episode 2 or 3 times last week. And I’ve never watched a JONAS episode early.
Just to reiterate, I thought Kevin and Nick were hilarious and definitely added to the show. (There are some episodes where I think the 2nd storyline is a bit lame and not as funny and I’m just waiting to get to the main storyline.)
which website can you watch Jonas online?
And also “Tambourine boy” (from Stella)
That’s another one of those “hits close to home” jabs that Joe Jonas is such a good sport for dealing with (ie. able to laugh at himself.) (And all the Jonases, in general, just specific to Joe in this case.)
oh my god, I seriously cracked up for 5 minutes over the “I’m not 100% satisfied with the way my hair turned out today.” and “Just kidding. My hair looks great.” and all the hair waving. My DH thought it was really hilarious too.
PS Joe has really big eyes and I like them. Just sayin’. Haven’t fangirled in a while…
I’m not kidding when actually said Macy’s line (“Oh no she di-in’t!”) when I heard Stella say that. But of course Joe’s hips crack received a “Ooooo!” from me as well.
Just loved this episode!! Lots of laughs. And why would Stella just leave after that kiss?? 🙂
exactly. ohh, Disney, not realistic!
I liked another line – Stella’s “Ketchup!” That was funny.
I know!!! Hello, as if one kiss would have been enough… Oh well. This IS Disney we’re talking about… 🙂
I think my daughter and I lol’d at this episode more than any other. The whole scene at “el meat” was priceless! Van Dyke is such a witty addition to the cast! So “dumb jock”, it’s hilarious.
OMG I loved Van Dyke’s “its one of those singer dudes!”
Me too! Loved that line!
HOLD the phone!
I was all excited about Season 2 – I thought they were going to be “on the road” which would be fun…
But this article says it’s based in LA which I don’t like as much as NJ (NJ is more “real”) and that they will all be working on separate things. This is against the whole “JONAS” mentality of Season 1…and will freak out everyone watching…I hope this is not exactly as it is planned, and just an early version.
“The first season had the brothers playing the Lucas boys of New Jersey, in a band called Jonas and going through familiar teen issues. For the following season, which begins production in February, the show will be set in California. Joe Jonas will be pursuing acting, Kevin seeking to direct movies and Nick working in music.”
And….they have a former producer/writer from The Office! Oh, this excites me! We all freaking love The Office in our house. I’m just glad they won’t still be in high school. Talk about unrealistic!
I thnk art is imitating life. I don’t want to be scared. I trust the boys implicitly when it comes to their careers. I just have such a hard time separating them from each other. I am a silly fangirl.
If you’re a silly fangirl, I’m a silly fangirl to the nth degree.
call me silly fangirl #2, hon!
I don’t want to be worried yet. I hope the producers have figured out that the boys are at their comic best when they are all together. So, perhaps they will be pursuing other activities, but hopefully most of the action will be when they are together. And I think the 13 weeks is probably because of scheduling. If they are starting in Feb., then they might have just enough time to film 13 episodes before a summer tour….(fingers crossed!!)
Did you catch that the quote says “Joe Jonas” even though it should be “Joe Lucas”? No biggie. I guess non-Jonas fans can’t be expected to keep the 2 apart.
PS it says they ordered only 13 episodes of Season 2. I hope that # gets higher too.
Also I really suggest that Disney put the first season of LTD on DVD…now. Now please!
Yes, I’d love to watch LTD on screen instead of on YouTUbe!
Amen!
OK ladies…I need help. I didn’t want to bring this up because I know we try to keep it positive here and there are Taylor Swift likers/lovers here, but I’m having a hard time digesting the whole TS / SNL monologue thing and this is the only place I can get it off my chest. I know, I know, it was all for fun and us JB fans need to lighten up, blah, blah. It was just a joke, blah, blah. But seriously, when will the disrespect stop? I’ve read all over the internet how hilarious everyone thought it was, and it just seems the Joe-hate has once again reared its ugly head. She’s putting it out there again how horribly he supposedly treated her and it breaks my heart every time I read or hear what a “jerk” he is or what a “d-bag” he is. How on earth can anyone think such things about sweet, sweet Joe? She had the power to say “no, I don’t want to go there” but she didn’t. We all know the truth, but the general public is going to believe every word this girl says. I really shouldn’t care so much, but it bothered me all day yesterday. I should be thinking of world peace or health care reform or pretty much anything else. And I don’t have a great sense of humor when it comes to putting down the boys. Now, make me feel better about this.
And, Sondra, re: the kiss…..I know, so Disney and so unrealistic!! Ha! Loved the blooper of Kevin frantically lifting the weights and Nick blowing his line!
well, my husband said the monologue song was written for her, and obviously the writers think her history of writing songs about guys is funny, and Joe is part of that history. They are trying to make people laugh not be respectful. It makes her look desperate and pathetic for bringing it up too, but I think the writers were just going for laughs and the public finds this funny. So yeah, OLD news but apparently still worth a few laughs out there.
I love the addition of the bloopers! Wish we had these on all episodes!
“And I don’t have a great sense of humor when it comes to putting down the boys. ”
I’m exactly the same way… No sense of humor when it comes to that. Especially with TS… Because she’s already said SO much about Joe, it’s just getting reaaaaally old.
I didn’t find her song funny at all… I was just thinking “Man, she sounds horrible”. She really isn’t a great singer live! Oh well. The sad part is that I actually want to like her because I really love her music, but she just makes it so damn hard! 🙂
We all know Joe is ANYTHING but a jerk, and it makes me sad too that so many people now see him as one because of TS. It’s hard for me to forgive her for that.
I thought the monologue was funny overall, but I didn’t enjoy the Joe reference. Just seemed “old”, but I agree with Sonnnn and her DH that it was probably written for her. (But yes, she could have vetoed it, which she didn’t.)
I am not a Taylor Swift fan, but I enjoy a few of her songs. I like the lyrics and the melody, but I agree with many who think that her voice is a bit weak, and that certainly seemed to be the case in the monologue.
Ugh…I know what you mean. It hurts my feelings for him, too. It just seems like dumb luck that he should have been saddled with the rep of dumping the girl who would become America’s Sweetheart to the multiplatinumth degree…and be eternally judged for it. It is aggravating.
But. Whatevs, Joe is America’s Sweetheart in MY world. LOL. Most people saying nasty things because they are supporting her are free to do so, they can think/say whatever they want and I don’t care, I think they are dumb and have unfortunate taste. So NEENER.
In other words, I really don’t have an intelligent thought on that issue, but there you have it. 😛
Also. I think in retrospect that the d-bag name was meant for an earlier guy who broke up with her. She has lots of songs about this happening I guess. I don’t know her past well enough to say for sure.
But what is really stupid about the Joe/Taylor thing is that he didn’t hang up on her. I believe his side of the story – I think we have more than enough character references to go with his side. And it’s a lie, and that is the WORST part of all. Hurting his reputation with lies.
“….tellin’ lies just to feel happy, but I won’t retaliate.” Exactly…THAT is what is frustrating about all of it.
I know Nick wrote that song a while ago apparently about someone else, but you can’t tell me those lyrics weren’t inserted for TS. I think what I can’t stand about all this is that she is being so admired for “taking the high road” and having such “class” about all of her dumpings and the Kanye thing. No wonder Joe prefers older women, especially after “dating” her. Apparently Mandy had to defend Joe against some moron on Twitter, saying he’s so not a d-bag, and saying nobody knows the details of what happened between Joe and TS.
OK, I’ll stop now. I listened to Much Better on the way to work, and I feel………much better!
Taylor really milks being the “victim.” She dated him for all of 3 months at most (for the love of all that is Mike), and she can’t let it go! Apparently, in Taylor Swift’s world, only she can break up with a guy. If he breaks up with her, revenge goes on and on.
Jan – just had to say kudos for the excellent use of a new jonas catch phrase.
I loved this episode. So did my DD. She didn’t even say “Ew, gross!” when Joe and Stella kissed. The second storyline with Kevin and Nick was funny and goofy and they play their characters so well. I really hope this episode is on the Vol. 2 DVD release. I know I will watch it again and again.
Oh I loved this episode so much. So many funny moments! Most were mentioned but I loved Kevin’s blue lips during the sugar high part. SO funny. And the part about Joe not being 100% happy with the way his hair turned out that day.
And Stella, what were you thinking just leaving like that after “the kiss”. Are you crazy?! It was just so strange seeing Joe kiss someone. We’ve never seen it- had so many close calls but never a real one. I loved it!
he did a great job too. The way he held her a little bit with his hands and all. It was well done.
And the one in the hallway was totally sweet.
Now that I see this, I wish they had just been “together” all season and had sweet moments here and there. and not 6 episodes playing cat and mouse.
Ladies, I check your website daily and finally have to comment because I’m just so curious about something. (Also, sorry if this is kind of off topic :s)
This Saturday is World Diabetes Day and all of us D folks are gearing up for it by promoting it on Twitter and letting everyone we know to wear blue that day. A blue circle is the symbol for WDD. I plan on painting my nails blue and wearing blue on Saturday.
While watching JONAS last night I almost choked on my Diet Coke when I saw Nick baking BLUE COOKIES! I don’t know, maybe I’m just so tuned into WDD that everything reminds me of it lately. And of course I had to turn to you ladies to see if it made any sense at all or if I’m just that crazy.
By the way, I absolutely LOVE your website. I come here when I want to see intelligent, classy comments about JB! 🙂
First of all, a big welcome to you Kay! Thanks for stopping by and double thanks for sharing your thoughts, 🙂
I don’t know about the significance of the blue cookies, but as great a spokesperson as Nick is for Diabetes, I wouldn’t be at all surprised. I thought myself that the color choice was odd (though it did look hilarious all over Kevin’s lips, lol!), but didn’t have any clue about it until now. You could very well be right, and wouldn’t it be just like Nick to include something clever that D folks would pick up on? 😉
Welcome Kay!
I also don’t know about the cookies and WDD possible connection, but I can believe that Nick might have been aware of it.
All I could think about when he talked about the blue chews was “Blue’s Clues” and him in picture as a kid wearing the Blue’s Clues costume. 🙂
Thanks for the welcomes! 🙂
And another thing I noticed was that he was wearing the same jacket that he wore to a Bayer meeting earlier in the year. It’s probably all just coincidence that I’m connecting all of this with diabetes. Haha.
Another connection that some other D people have noticed is in WWIII. If you listen closely in the first verse you can hear a high pitched beeping at certain times. It sounds EXACTLY like the PDM for my OmniPod. In fact when I was first blaring it in my car this summer I had to turn the song off to check because I thought something was wrong with my pump. Other OmniPodders have noticed it too and immediately thought it was their pump. Again, I’m probably just crazy! 🙂
I don’t think you’re crazy at all Kay.
I’ve never notices any beeping, but I wouldn’t have known what I was hearing, lol! 😛
Nick loves to put in references, like in “Lovebug” when someone says “Diabetes” during all the voice over stuff. Adding the sound of the Omnipod into a song sounds like something he would totally do. 😉
Oh. My. Gosh. The thank you for saying that. I was CONVINCED that someone said “Diabetes,” but no one ever heard it. That makes me feel a lot better that it’s actually there. Thanks 🙂
I’m going to listen for that. I have heard something like that and it makes me think something is going on with my car LOL!
would it be intentional? or it got on there accidentally? why does the PDM beep?
The PDM can beep for several different reasons. Either an occlusion in the cannula which prevents insulin from delivered or the pod has reached its 72 hour expiration limit and you have to change it or to let you know how much time you have left to change it. I’m pretty tuned into those beeps because my pump is my best friend and any noise it makes warrants a frantic check to make sure there isn’t a problem with insulin delivery.
I doubt it was intentional, but I have a hard time thinking it was accidental. If I ever get the chance to ask JB (specifically Nick) a question I’m asking about the PDM beeping in WWIII. I’m just sure of it. Haha. 🙂
I’ll paint my nails blue and wear blue – I did not know about the blue circle symbol though.
Yay for blue nails! It’s the latest trend! Well, at least for Saturday. 😉
Awwww, thank you & WELCOME!
Nick called them “blue chews” (blue shoes) as in “What happened to my blue chews?”
Loved this episode!
About the 2nd season of JONAS….apparently, it is supposed to take place over summer vacation where they all follow their own dreams and plans. I wonder how Nicole’s and Chelsea’s characters will fit into the plans?
This episode was so funny! Probably my favorite one so far… I loved
– “Stop! I think I have something that might change your tune, which is technically more honky-tonk than blues.”
– J: “I could use some cheering up too.” N: “Got a test coming up?” J: “No.” N: “A girl break up with you?” J: “Not since preschool!” N: “Sorry, you’re out of luck!” J: Well I’m not a 100 % thrilled with the way my hair came out today! (to the girl passing by): Just kidding, you know. Just wanted a cookie… My hair is perfect.” LOL!!!
– S: “So how do you think you did?” K: “Oh I absolutely failed. But thanks to Nick’s cookie, I could care less.”
– Van Dyke: “you were dressed like a guy.” Macy: “Yeah, but you cried like a girl.” VD: “Fair enough.”
– N: “There were a dozen on this tray, but somebody, KEVIN, ate them all.” (I loved the way Nick said “Kevin” 🙂 ) K: And you automatically blame me. How dare you, sir! On what grounds?” N: “Let’s start with your blue lipgloss.”
– K: You’ve got to be kidding!” N: “Do I look like I’m kidding?” K: “Nick, you never look like you’re kidding.”
– J: You’re breathing on me again.” K: “Sorry.”
– J: “Did you see what Stella did to Van Dyke yesterday? It was so great, dude, I hope he has an icepack ’cause he got burnt!” (Why is it that I can TOTALLY see Joe say something like that in real life too… Lol)
– “Joe, come over here and let your big brother give you some big brotherly advice. Embrace it. Love it. Yeah.” Can I come too, Kevin? 😉
– The “stop talking” scene… Oh my goodness, Nick was hilarious! “Oh for the love of all that is Mike, stop talking.” 😀
– Nick “sleeping” (aww) and Kevin “hypnotizing” him… “It’s very important that tomorrow you bake lots more of your cookies for me- I mean, for HIM”
– the scene in the kitchen… Ha ha ha. “I love you man!”
– J: “Okay, Van Dyke pickes Stella up at 7 o’clock, they go to a restaurant, they have dinner, he takes her home, but I just called her house and she’s not there, how come?” N: “Maybe because it’s only 7.15.”
– “Let’s all sit down and have a cookie… BUT NOT THESE COOKIES, THESE ARE MINE!”
– N: “I don’t get it. You’re the one that made Stella go out on a date with Van Dyke.” J: “I didn’t make her go, I said ‘You can go if you want to!'” N: “Well, then, what’s the problem?” J: “I didn’t want her to! Especially if she was gonna be there for 16 minutes!!” K: “Joe, come to big brother Kevin for some more brotherly advice.” J: “I’m not going back in there.”
– “Brothers don’t let brothers make fools of themselves. Kevin, I’m sorry I’ve let you down for so many years.” 😀
– S: “You know, suddenly I’m feeling like a… like a vegetarian.” VD: “Oh, not a problem, they have chicken!” (I love Van Dyke!! He’s such a great character. So likable!)
– “Hey, it’s one of those singing dudes!”
– J: “Mind if I join you?” VD: “Put it down, buddy!”
– “Will you excuse me for a minute? I have to use the little girls’ room with Macy… and JOE.”
– S: “One of you start talking.” J: “Well-” S: “Not you.”
– Joe waving his hand when Macy says “Joe of JONAS”
– “Dudes! Check it out: Free bibs!!!”
– S: “You know, it is so refreshing to talk to someone who’s athletic and in touch with his body.” J: “I’m athletic, you know, I do all my own stunts on stage.” S: Yeah, like swinging a microphone? Oooh, you daredevil.”
– “Two cartwheels at restaurant. First Joe… then my heart.” 🙂
– “tambourine boy”… LOL! And Macy’s blog updates were hilarious. “Oh no she didn’t!”
– S: “I would like to go home now, Van Dyke.” VD: “Of course, Stella. I’ll call my mom.”
– Hyper Kevin. That scene must have been exhausting for him! 🙂
– J: “I’ll tell you this much: I’m never speaking to that girl again! And she thinks she can tell ME what to do…” S: “Joe, get down here!” J: “I’m coming!”
– The fighting/kissing scene… Lucky Chelsea! Sigh! : ) But yes, I totally agree with you all — WHY would she leave after that kiss? Reality check, Disney… 😉
– N: “Cookie?” K: “Ahh, get them away from me!” N: “Good boy.”
– Kevin and Nick’s faces in the end… “Did we miss something?”
– the bloopers!! They’re awesome, I hope we get them after every episode from now on!
Does anybody know when the second dvd comes out? I can’t wait!
LOVE that you typed all this out!! So many good lines!!!!
Wow, Elise, PRIMO recap! 😀
You got just about ALL of them. I LOVED this episode. DH watched it w/the boys and I and well all laughed more than any other episode. I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned Kevin’s line to Joe “…who gives an 8 year old cookies?!” Loved the whole thing.
Oh my gosh… I think I wrote down the entire script. Sorry! There was just so much to love in this one!
Also, “picks”, not “pickes”. I’m sure there are some other errors too. 🙂
my dh likes where Joe shakes his hair and almost falls down after the “my hair is perfect” line. We both laugh out loud at that repetitively.
“Double Date” has proven to be one of my favorite episodes so far. Definitely top three, and that has nothing to do with the kiss between Stella and Joe. I started guffawing at the top of the ep with that exchange between Kevin and Joe in front of the lockers, and I didn’t stop.
Everybody’s mentioned just about all the best bits, but I must say how tickled I am by the fact that Nick Jonas can make baking cookies look as cool as riding a motorcycle. And I cackled at the idea of Joe manipulating Macy to partake in his double date scheme by offering “a date with Joe of Jonas.” And the fact that she just couldn’t help herself…so funny. And true. (Can’t say I’d behave differently. Sisterhood be damned!)
Oh, and about that kiss… Am I the only one who felt…strangely about it? I actually could only bring myself to watch it once. And squint through it. (No, it wasn’t in the a spirit of “Eew, they’re kissing!” I just felt as though I was seeing something I shouldn’t be. Like, what they do with their lips is private…Though now that I think about it, I didn’t feel weird about seeing pictures of Kevin kissing Danielle at a Road Dogs game. Hmmm.)
And then there’s this: I think the way the Jonas camp has approached the kiss is quite savvy. I say this with regard to Joe’s future acting career outside of Disney films. If he plans to be, let’s say, the leading man in a romantic comedy, there’ll be kisses, and given the boys’ “squeaky clean images,” I’m sure people would love to make a big deal out of discussing such a scene when it comes to be. But here, Joe’s first on-screen kiss has come and gone without fanfare from the mainstream (unlike both Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint’s respective onscreen kissing scenes and love scenes). Again, very savvy.
What cracked me up the most about the kiss was how thrilled my daughters were that it happened! I guess they’re living vicariously, 😉
I am late to comment and have little to add…but I simply ADORED this episode.
I thought the Joe vs, Stella arguing got so hilariously mean, the depth of rude you can only go when passion is involved, LOL.
My favorite part has GOT to be the second kiss, little peck. Not only as it an adorably different sort of kiss – just that comfy, casual & affectionate bf/gf sort of thing…but I loved the fakeout of the dialogue, as if we were going to go back to the same old Joe/Stella love denial game. I thought that was an extremely clever wrapup.
I didn’t feel strangely…I thought it was surprisingly well done and natural. I haven’t always felt that way about Joe’s onscreen romantic rendezvous, so I was very proud of him here…and I must say I watched the kissing scenes repeatedly.
🙂
He kisses super well. 😀 Lucky Chelsea Staub.
Gah! Loved this episode!!! Having been gone all week and not seeing any promos, it was a complete and utter surprise! You ladies (especially Elisa!) have more than covered all my favorites so I won’t carry on, but…MAN, was I happy to see that kiss! LOL 🙂
Welcome Kay! I can’t wait to get in my car tomorrow and blast WW111 now!
Finally watched it (twice!) and I LOVED It.
Kevin deserves some sort of major award for pulling off that long scene with blue stain all over his mouth.
I am excited about the new concept for JONAS, and I am SOOO excited for LTD – that is one of my most favorite things ever.
What? Is it confirmed that LTD is coming to DVD?! Ugh! I feel so out of the loop!
no…I don’t think so. 😦 I was just saying that it is on my Jonas Wish List! (along with the instrumental versions of ALBL and LVATT)
FYI
Second DVD coming in late January!
