After enjoying Cpaig’s stellar recap of the recent JJ&R radio interview, I was inspired to offer my own humble tribute to the guys’ most recent interview with another wonderful radio personality. I refer, of course, to Radio Disney’s own Ernie D. JB’s time spent with Ernie is always a delight, and as I happened upon a complete YouTubeage of the March 27th takeover, I thought I would share.
Enjoy the vids, with analysis, after the jump!
This takeover, while not as long as some others we have enjoyed, is still chock full o’ goodies for WDT. First and foremost, we are treated to not one but THREE acoustic songs. The guys performed “SOS”, “Live to Party,” and “Burnin’ Up”. I find radio station acoustic sets fun, because they are un-adorned, pure and real. And for this Kevin-lovin’-girl, they afford a chance to relish his acoustic playing, which, in my opinion, we never get enough of. The “Burnin’ Up” here is particularly wonderful in this regard. Listen closely to it, and I dare you not to be impressed.
Also on tap here is some MAJOR scoop about an upcoming sports event. It seems that the Brothers Jonas have challenged Ernie D to field a “Radio Disney” wiffleball team and play a game against them. Can we please pause here to contemplate just exactly how much broken glass we would crawl over in order to be present at this game? No info on dates for this happening, but the interview contains some trash talkin’, some boasting (deservedly so, natch on the part of Nick) and some hilarious roster-name-dropping taunting. Boys, boys, let’s be good sports please!
We are also herein finessed with some truly slick plugging for the new CD, tour and JONAS. Kevin in particular offers up some newsy bits about some of the delights that await us after May 2, and Nick is also quite forthcoming about the TV show.
In addition, scattered throughout, there are the ubiquitous questions from telephone wielding fans about “What’s it like to tour?”, “What inspired you to become a band?” and “What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done?”
…In re this last, I would add a personal note: Nicholas, Darling Angel Boy, I adore you but I beg, nay, implore you to FIND A NEW CRAZY FAN STORY! I have personally heard about the “Woman in Bahamas Trying to Pass Herself Off as Denise” more times than I can contain on the fingers of both hands. I shudder to think how many times the collective fandom has listened to this gem. It’s a great story, but we’ve heard it. A lot.
However, this (admittedly petty) complaint aside, there are many nuggets in this interview. Give it a listen and see what you uncover!
