A wee bit of Grammy wrap up, and then a charming segue into a full on press tour for Jonas Brothers the 3D Concert Experience which opens on February 27. As we have said before, there are almost too many appearances to keep up with!
As with anything Jonas-related, last night’s collaboration with Stevie Wonder was met with utter joy but also bemusement and yes, even jeers. I don’t want to give any time to haters who still seem to be under the misconception that denying the Guys have any talent and decrying this pairing as the harbinger of the end of days is a mark of insightful music criticism, as opposed to what it is: little more than hipster “cooler-than-school” bandwagonism – so I won’t. Instead, I will give you the opinion from (what may be the bandwagon of bandwagons) MTV:
Not just ANYBODY gets to cover “Superstition,” and this performance completely put the Jonas Brothers on the map… for the two people whose maps the Jonas Brothers weren’t already on. Seriously though, that performance was icon-status-sealing and could finalize their move out of the teen-pop mold; it showed skeptics that the Jonas Brothers aren’t just bubblegum, they can (for the trilllionth time!) play their own instruments, command a stage, and extend their reach beyond a youth-only audience. – What’s Black And White And Jonas All Over? The 2009 Grammys! And Here’s Buzzworthy’s Fashion Recap! Published by Tamar Anita.
Thanks, Tamar (we love her)! She also gives all of the details about the Guy’s looks for the evening along with a complete Grammy recap. Check it out on the Buzzworthy Blog.
And, the numbers don’t lie, E! reports that viewership for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards was up by nearly two million viewers this year, The Washington Post says it was up by three, with the majority of viewers tuned in specifically during JB’s epic collab, and dropping off afterward. Nice.
The Guys admitted to Reuters that they were a little disappointed they did not win (who wouldn’t be?) but Joe says “the performance was a win for us….I don’t think we would have wanted to perform with anyone else. I mean, there were stars in that room who we’d love to perform with, but that was such a perfect opportunity and a perfect collaboration.”
For more on the topic they have conveniently given us a blog post!
WE want to thank everyone for the wonderful comments. It was amazing to be on stage performing with Stevie Wonder. We have listened to his music for our entire lives. We still can’t believe that we were on that stage singing and playing music with one of the biggest icons in music. We are honored and still thinking about it constantly. Thank you Stevie Wonder and everyone that helped make it possible. We were really living the dream.
We did not win the Best New Artist but you have made us feel like we won. We are happy for Adele. She is amazing and we love her music.
Today we spent most of the day doing press for the 3D MOVIE. We did a lot of interviews. You should be seeing some of it in the near future.
Speaking of which….
The Guys gave a post Grammy/JB3DCE promotional interview to The Insider. The interview makes up for them keeping mum (literally) on the red carpet Sunday night.
This is a great interview with Cojo and they cover lots of ground. The key moments to note:
- “Turn it on”
- Big Rob the alarm clock
- The incredable sleeping Nick
- Kevin knows his lables and has “freaky” similar taste in shoes to Cojo
- Jamming with Stevie
- Managing your wildest dreams
- 3D wonders, performance critique, and Kevin taking direction to heart
- Being “the sons President Obama never had.”
- Missing tour
- Joe’s stage dancing inspirations
- White House hand towels
- The value of a piece of Jonas

And one with ET…
Vodpod videos no longer available.

Beware of cameras in dark corners.
(I just have to say that I hate the camera work in this piece – Kevin is cut out for most of it in favor of a black patch of room to the left of Joe. Uhh what is up with that? Boo ET, booo!)
The guys also released some awesome behind the scenes pics from Grammy practice on FFE today. Click the pic and check out the rest of the set!
