Oh, oh, Coolmom has a forum, now she won’t shut up! Just had to share this tid-bit I found yesterday on the alerts. An interesting piece from Forbes entitled: Hollywood’s Crossover Stars. According to the author, Lacey Rose:
In an ever-crowded entertainment landscape, making one’s mark across genres is not only a lucrative way to build a brand, but a crucial way to rise above the din…
…expect more singers to act, actors to direct and directors to take their turn on stage. Whether you choose to dub them multi-hyphenates or triple threats, these genre-shifters are the ruling class in today’s Tinseltown.”
Mentioned herein are such A-listers as Will Ferrell, Joss Stone, Joaquin Phoenix, Toni Collette, and the Jonas Brothers! I find it exciting that the boys are keeping such impressive company.
More (including a quick vid) and a question for you, after the jump!
Now I know some of our SR salon (yours truly included) has had the occasional misgiving about the boys continuing to pursue acting opportunities instead of focusing solely on music. But, after seeing our favorite trio getting the seemingly inevitable mention alongside many people whose chops I greatly admire, I was downright proud!
And there’s more…in this piece from MTV, Joe and Nick are honest about how difficult it is to tackle new kinds of performing, and Kevin talks about still more opportunities for “brand expansion”.
These articles would seem to suggest that genre-hopping is something everyone is, or should be, doing.
…So what do you think, Revelers?
