Happy Birthday wishes to Nick. I remember this day last year because my 14 yo daughter said to me, “It’s Nick Jonas’s birthday.” And I said, “Great. And why would I care about this?”
I had no idea what a huge part of our lives the Jonas Brothers would become. I’ve spent $$$ traveling the country to see their shows (money well spent), paid to be in their fan club (waste of money on that one), tried to hide my addiction from my husband, embarrassed myself in front of my friends with my knowledge of all things Jonas, sat through Camp Rock (that’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back), and found this fansite (one of my favorite ways to waste my time).
This is one of my favorite videos because you can see that the boys were greatly annoyed, but they stopped anyway, and Kevin was his usual gracious self.
especially love the parts about hiding it from your husband and your friends not getting it.
Maybe we need a support group? although this blog comes pretty close. thanks to cpaig and mememoi for that.
mykidsthinkimweird – 🙂 I, too, know how it is to hide the obsession from friends and family. Fortunately I don’t have a husband so I don’t have to feel guilty about swooning over these boys. But other adults (and my daughter’s friends!) find it a little odd that I know sooo much about JB.
Yes, THANK YOU mememoi and cpaig for creating this little corner for us to all feel welcome and understood! 🙂
So, who else is making a pumpkin pie today in honor of Nick?! 🙂 LOL!
I have so many favorite YouTubes, but this one is really special. I love the song (it’s the one Papa J wrote) and the voices you hear singing are young Kevin and Joe is in a children’s choir backing Kevin and his dad up.
The images are priceless. I don’t know where they got them all, but I love seeing the boys as babies, toddlers, kids, and the men they are today. Very cool.
Amanda – I am overwhelmed by cuteness and pathetically close to tears. I have not seen that particular video before and the treatment is awesome! I have added it to my favorites now, too. Thank you for sharing the link.
Mememoi and cpaig – I would like to join the others in saying thank you. It is really nice to be able to come here and speak without being viewed like I just stepped off the mother ship. 🙂
Coolmom, loved the Broadway vid, hadn’t see it. Oh my goodness, Nick’s picture with Joey Fatone of NSync! My two world colliding!! lol I am stunned at how young Nick looks compared to Joey. Hadn’t realized just how far apart in age they were!!!
YES, flamom, and he’s a dad in real life! I love Joey, he’s such a dork/flirt. I don’t watch HM, (unless it’s the ‘Mr. Jonas, Mr. Jonas & Mr. Jonas episode!) but I did see the one with Joey. He was so cheesy, I loved it! And it was after he’d been on ‘Dancing with the Stars’. Did you hear Lance Bass is going to be on this season??!!
I have another vid for the retrospective. It is “Dear God” Live c. August 2005. The song content is probably the most overtly religious of Nick’s solo stuff. The video is cool in the context of Nick career evolution (just prior to his Diabetes diagnosis) and also the context of JB’s evolution (the vid also shows a young Joe and Kevin in non-designer suits and a very thin John Taylor playing/singing back-up!).
I LOVE “Dear God”…it has some great lyrics that blow my mind, especially the way Nick delivers them. “Trying to preach your message with a loaded gun, can’t they see the truth that they’re all running from?” and “People try to take Your words and twist them ’round, I know you can’t be happy with what’s going down”…they get me every time. CHILLS. It gives me hope for the future and I am proud to say it has long been LBF’s favorite. 🙂
“Dear God” is on our copy of It’s About Time (we have the ‘Album Advance’ version with 3 different songs – thank you, eBay!). What a beautiful song. The first time I heard it, I was truly blown away…Nick was so young sounding, yet his voice was so powerful. Just, wow.
It has Dear God, Don’t Tell Anyone, and Hey We’re Gonna Be Alright (LOVE that!). However, it DOES NOT have What I Go To School For and Please Be Mine – all the rest are the same as the regular release.
It is absolutely perfect. Nick & Elvis. Elvis & Nick. OMJ. No, cpaig, there will not be any two creatures cuter on earth. Ever. Now I want to see a pic of Nick snuggling Elvis or Elvis licking Nick’s face or Nick kissing Elvis, etc. etc. 🙂
