Ok, well, not really a surprise, but it surely is wonderful! Most of us, minus those with the most self control, have known since this morning who won what at the Teen Choice Awards. They took place last night, taped to air tonight. I am not sure a full leak of the winners is normal or not (since this is my first time covering the Teen Choice Awards) but it seems a bit odd to me. But, whatever, I am happy with the outcome!
The Boys won 6 (count ’em) awards:
- Choice Music Single: “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
- Choice Music Love Song: “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
- Choice Breakout Group
- Choice Summer Song: “Burnin’ Up.”
- Choice Male Hottie(s)
- Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon(s) – Male
What we didn’t know in detail is how it all went down (and I guess that is still interesting devoid of any suspense, right?). See what I thought of the show (as well as taking a look at some nice pics), after the jump.
OK, I had planned on giving you a blow by blow, but at this point it is 9:23 and I can barely stand to watch the last 30 or so minutes, so I will spare you. I will just say that I found the practice of announcing all of the awards won by a person (or group) as they accept another award was a bit confusing. The graphics were cute and not obnoxious, though all of those images of sloshing water had me running to the bathroom.
I was surprised that House was up for Choice Drama, and was a bit confused at so many nominations for “R” rated movies (I am not naive, but don’t you have to be 17 to watch an R movie? – yes, I know 17 is a teenager).
The ACDC/M&M Crew dance battle was interesting – I always love to see Chris Brown dance, and I am a fan of the ACDC crew (Adam Sevani wore a Phillies hat – W00T!)
The worst part was that the (celebrity) audience seemed bored and not at all surprised by any of the winners… but on to more interesting things – Jonas things.
First I have to say that they all looked GREAT – and Kevin was wearing suspenders, which – I am sorry – is just NICE.
So, they had this recurring segment, “Ask the Jonas Brothers”, where they were asked questions by fans via videos submitted to the Teen Choice web site. It was cute. There were no earth shattering questions, but the answers were sweet.
They were asked:
Describe your perfect date? Joe said his perfect date would include him riding up on a white horse on the beach, then flying to Paris for Dinner, and then to Barcelona, you know, for a movie. Normal date stuff.
What was the weirdest gift you received from a fan? Kevin answered a live hippo (I am assuming he is talking about the one that was adopted in their honor at a nature preserve).
What is your signature dance move? (see below.)
Joe and Nick demonstrate their “signature” dance move. I love it lots, but I would say that THIS is their signature dance move.
What is your most embarrassing moment? Joe told the American Music Awards story in a very sweet way adding “I learned that day that I am not good at walking.” And that sweet fans helped him get through it. Awww!
What is your craziest dream? (see below)
Nick reveals that his “weirdest dream” is being at the Teen Choice Awards and being able to fly powered solely by the screams of teenage girls (harrumph). The girls cheer, the boys fly. Joe made a point to mention how “comfortable” it was. I think we know what that means. Just look at his face!
They were asked “what would be the coolest Teen Choice award to win?”, and Kevin said any, and they gave them 5. They Guys were really sweet and brought out Big Rob (Enterprises) to share the awards with them (they gave him a mini surf board). It was very sweet and they said he was a really big part of their life. Their speech was great and they thanked everyone, especially the fans (natch).
Then I did some stuff, like fold laundry… I really liked Hayden Panettiere’s speech about female empowerment, then there was some more dancing and FOX-related plugs, and then the Boys won for Choice Male Hotties (see below).
I mean, c’mon, who can argue with that? They thanked their parents for making their hotness possible – LOL.
