Thanks for the mention, I’m honored.

And thanks also for putting all these groovy vids in one place, so I can listen anytime I want! I’m still looking for the mid-January phone interview but no luck so far. I did find a vid of the Boys and Rich playing Year 3000 at the July concert. The quality is lousy but it’s kind of fun to see. “jonas brothers Year 3000 with rich in AZ”.

Haha, I know. I thought the Gannes piece was interesting though, so I didn’t want to give her too hard a time. All last summer I kept telling people how amazing it was the way “the kids” were using the internet, YouTube and MySpace, to have the most amazing access to their idols. The Globe and Mail article was a touch snarky, yeah, but I have found very few men who are able to write about the Brothers in a way that isn’t backhanded somehow. This was no different, but not on the bad side of that scale…

It was definitely different! Though a lot of the answers were familiar to me - like Joe’s burgeoning penchant for things eurotrashy (I’m not gonna lie, I usually abhor McQueen), he seems to have been working on that for a while. And you’re right, Kevin did mix it up with the JT answer. Maybe he’s disenchanted with Mayer after the Guitar Hero thing, LOL. Nick is usually pretty straightforward, or am I just not paying enough attention?

As for prom - I skipped both junior version (out of snobbery) and senior version (because I was living in Europe). Sometimes I think I might regret having been such a snot-rag, because I actually had lots of fun in high school (unbeknownst to me until a little later). But I also had lots of fun doing the things I skipped it for…so it’s a wash, I guess. I hear ya, Kevin.

But I am glad you had a fun prom, Enid!! Does that mean you’re graduated and college-bound? Yaay.

As someone who had her prom last week, I can say that it’s quite possibly the most melodramatic event in an adolescent’s life. All that planning and preparation and stress for a few hours of “fun”. I’m not going to lie, I actually had a really good time, but it’s honestly such a bigger deal than it needs to be. Hey, I’m just happy the chicken didn’t suck!

A lot of people were really surprised at Kevin’s choosing Justin Timberlake over John Mayer. He’s often cited Mayer as a favorite and an influence. Actually, quite a few of their responses were a bit out there. It’s a very interesting piece regardless.

Boy, Kevin is right about the prom thing. I mean, it was true for me.

The Prom is steeped in such cultural expectations (virginity, drinking, someone crying in the bathroom and someone else acting like it is all REALLY important and stomping around holding the hem of their dress in one hand and shoes in the other giving dirty looks to whoever it was sent the first one in there in the first place, party buses, after after prom parties and beach weekends full of goodness knows what.)

I mean, I went to the prom, and it wasn’t the highlight of my senior year even.

I think when you exist outside of the culture that celebrates that kind of thing, you get a hollow experience out of what you thought would be a profound one.

You didn’t miss a thing Kevin.

Oh and the Outsiders is a totally awesome film.

(that wasn’t meant to sound bitter, I am just REALLY happy I am not in HS anymore.)
