There’s Nowhere Else I’d Rather Be…[Awesome]

September 20, 2010 by mememoi

The day has finally arrived…

Bulldozer (sort of) is a reality!  Welcome to the world, the newest Jonas Brothers spinoff, one about which I am particularly excited…welcome to Ocean Grove!

24 Hours after the official launch:

  • @OceanGroveBand has over 6500 followers (!!!)
  • The band has fans rabid enough to capture the 30-odd seconds of music they have graciously bestowed upon us:

(Totally worthy of capture, btw…because it is undeniably awesome.)

  • We pretty much all have t-shirts on their way to us.

Jump onboard at www.oceangroveband.com!

So, Ocean Grovers – John, Greg, Ryan, Jack – we’re proud and thrilled for you and for us.

We were happy to wait, and keep waiting, because we knew it’d be worth it…but more than anything, we’re thrilled the wait is over!!!

P.S.  We’re going to be retiring the “Bulldozer” category, rightfully so…but you can relive the years of magic, HERE.  And there just might be a new spot to enjoy magic moments to come…keep an eye out…

So, what do you think, Revelers?

So excited I can’t stand it!!! I have been SO swamped with work and real life crap that I’d barely been online in days and when I checked John’s twitter, I literally screamed.

We ordered the Names shirt for now. Will grab the other one ASAP. Corinne is still holding out hope for a poster!

I am so, so proud of them. Love the name, love the logo, but it is going to be hard to stop referring to them as Bulldozer. The song snippet sounds amazing! Hopefully they’ll give us a tease of something else before too long. We’re impatient! :)

    • on September 20, 2010 at 10:11 pm mememoi

This sums me up pretty well – so swamped I can barely breathe let alone be online for all the usual fun…but this was such a THRILL!!!

I love these guys…so I’d be proud and excited for pretty much anything but the fact that the music is already sounding fantastically wonderful is a huge, huge boost. Haha.

I ordered the orange logo on charcoal. Can NOT wait to wear anywhere I can justify it. :)

Can’t wait to see them LIVE!

      • on September 21, 2010 at 6:59 am cpaig

We were even too distracted and excited to coordinate shirts. We got the same one. This will be a problem down the road… LOL!

  2. on September 20, 2010 at 10:12 pm lisa2393

I am most excited for this new musical adventure! If I were still young enough to lead a street team (or be part of one) I would be on it. Can’t wait for the release of the first full track, then the album, the tour! SQUEE!!

  3. on September 20, 2010 at 10:25 pm Jan

Just curious: do you think they are part of Jonas Group?

    • on September 20, 2010 at 10:34 pm mememoi

I was wondering the same thing!!! I guess we’ll have to wait to find out…

    • on September 23, 2010 at 3:38 pm HeatherH23

I was wondering too. That will be interesting to see.

  4. on September 20, 2010 at 10:25 pm Trish

I briefly thought about trying to lead a Street Team. Then I looked around at my unshipped eBay orders, my crazy unpredictable work schedule and my carport ceiling which is suddenly falling down (guy coming tomorrow thank goodness!) and said, umm, NO. But I will be glad to help. :)

    • on September 20, 2010 at 10:31 pm HeatherH23

I thought about it for about 5 seconds, but I wouldn’t even know where to start. I’ll help however I can, but I don’t have a clue what to do for a Street Team. I tried to join Honor Society’s and couldn’t ever get to the events. But I will do what I can. :)

      • on September 21, 2010 at 6:55 am cpaig

I feel a little old and bedraggled to be on a street team too!

I am still going to do what I can to promote them. I am looking forward to seeing them at the likes of “The Note” in West Chester and beyond!

Wonderful little venues are my favorite!!!!

  5. on September 20, 2010 at 10:27 pm HeatherH23

Can’t believe how excited I am considering I’d never heard of Bulldozer a year ago.

Love the snippet. Love the shirt (I got the grey one with the blue-green logo). Love all of these guys.

What a welcome announcement on the last day of the US leg of the tour when I was feeling down. Such good timing.

    LOVE these guys.

    Did I mention I’m excited?

    • on September 20, 2010 at 10:34 pm mememoi

      :D

    • on September 21, 2010 at 7:03 am cpaig

I am so so so EXCITED! I just LOVE these guys and their collective and individual voices.

I’ll be interested to see if John, Ryan and Greg each sing. I’ve only really heard Greg sing on that one Seton Hall interview, but I have one of the albums from The Rule for Ryan, and have been a frequent visitor to John’s myspace page to listen to the songs on there.

      • on September 21, 2010 at 8:12 am Sonnnn

I believe JT is doing the majority of the singing. Also on the Robert Schwartzman project which I don’t necessarily agree with since I love RS’s voice!

      • on September 21, 2010 at 8:13 am Sonnnn

is this the Greg song that everyone talks about? can you send it to me?

  6. on September 21, 2010 at 7:13 am cpaig

The part in the introduction video where John mentioned “Pure Pop Goodness” makes me SQUEE every time!!!!

  7. on September 21, 2010 at 10:01 am Trish

Yes, they have great voices! The first time we ever heard JTs songs on his MySpace, we flipped out. And Garbo’s song on that interview – love it! So to have a whole album by these guys is going to be amazing…can’t stand the wait. I’ve listened to that 30 second snippet about a thousand times. LOL

Heather – I vote that in ATL they play The Loft where Honor Society played. It’s small and intimate and if you get there early it’s easy to get to the front of the stage! ;) Corinne has already made me promise that we will camp out on the sidewalk to be first in line!

  8. on September 21, 2010 at 3:50 pm HeatherH23

The Loft would be perfect. There’s actually three venues in that one spot, so whatever size venue they need would work, but I liked the Loft. I’m so excited that I have someone to wait with this time! I was there by myself for Honor Society.

And I swear I remember seeing Corinne. She looked so familiar to me when I first met you guys.

I wonder what we have to do to get M&G? They need a fan club. Like yesterday. Why hasn’t this been mentioned by them yet?

    • on September 21, 2010 at 5:00 pm Trish

Did you meet HS at The Loft? When you purchased merch, they gave you a M&G pass…they could do something like that. However, we waited w/Corinne’s BFF and they let us go through the line, too, even though we didn’t purchase anything. (Jason…*swoon*…what a doll!) Did you go to the one in Nov 09 too or just the one in May?

Too funny that you saw Corinne! We stayed over to the left hand side of the stage most of the time, about 7 people from the stage. Where were you? I’ll have to look at my pics and see if you made it into any of them! LOL!

A fan club would be great. I would imagne they’ll get around to that eventually.

      • on September 22, 2010 at 8:32 pm HeatherH23

I met them before the show. I joined the fan club just so I could get M&G. It lasted about 13 seconds.

Andy said, “Hi. How are you?”

I said, “Good. How are you?”

        Andy said, “Good”.

I stood between Andy and Alex (Andy’s my fav-and WAY more so since that night) with Jason and Mike on either side of them, Kat took the pic on my camera. That was it. I got to do Soundcheck with that too, which I was surprised about. I thought only certain people got Soundcheck, but they let me in. I even had an extra braclet (don’t know why they gave me two) which I gave to a girl standing ahead of me in line. Soundcheck was fun.

For the concert I was somewhere near the middle of the stage. Maybe halfway between the front and the back. Probably a little closer to the front. There were maybe 5-6 rows of people in front of me. I had a pretty good view. Didn’t get great pictures, but the view was pretty good. :)

I would have bought something for the Merch M&G, but I couldn’t hang around after the show for that. Since I was there by myself I was a little nervous about walking back out to the parking lot by myself and then I had to drive home. I was afraid I would be really late if I hung around. And I knew Matt would be worried if I stayed too late. He won’t mind so much next time since I have people to stand with. ;)

I did not see them in November. Honestly, I don’t think I even bought their album until February. I didn’t like them that much last year. I don’t remember why, but I think I remember it had something to do with content. Don’t know. I was just barely out of listening to nothing but Contemporary Christian music. Like, I would listen to CC and Disney stuff. It’s not like I haven’t listened to secular music my whole life, but I don’t know. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me now, so I don’t really know how to explain it. I love them now. I was SO excited to buy my ticket to the concert as soon as they went on sale in February.

Also, before I insisted on going to Nick’s concert in January I hadn’t been to a concert in a long time. And even then they were Contemporary Christian concerts. I can’t even tell you the last time I saw a “secular” band/artist before Nick. And I actually can’t even tell you the last time I saw a concert before Nick. I think it might have been Steven Curtis Chapman at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City, FL. Before we moved here 4 years ago. But I’m a concert junkie now. I am DYING to see NeedToBreathe and they are coming to The Tabernacle (part of the same venue as The Loft) on Nov. 24th…and we’ll be out of town for Thanksgiving. SO mad.

Anyway, this is longer than it needs to be. I can’t wait to see OGB and I think that would be a great venue. I would definitely buy Merch to meet them. It’s funny how I would love to meet them but I’m scared to death to meet the guys. Or maybe I’m just scared to death to meet Joe. Although I didn’t even enter the M&G for Nick last January either. But I’d love to meet OGB. I’m so looking forward to everything about this.

        • on September 22, 2010 at 11:59 pm Trish

We met HS on the street corner in Nashville at about midnight in 2009. Great story…I’ll tell you about it sometime. LOL! Then we met them at the mini show they did at Hard Rock Cafe the morning of their November show at the Loft. Then we met them after the May concert at the Loft. I bet we were standing pretty close to each other! That’s a hoot!

So 3 times for them, 2 times meeting JB. Corinne is more nervous about meeting OGB than JB! She truly thinks she’ll faint if JT speaks to her, or if heaven forbid she is able to touch him!!! ROFL!!

Gosh, I used to go to concerts ALL the time when I was a teenager. Didn’t go to any from 1992 until 2007, first time we saw JB.

          • on September 23, 2010 at 12:24 am Sonnnn

that’s sweet. I think Corinne will do so great with JT! He seems to be completely like a regular person :) If I could shout out to him in front of all the people at the softball game, she can do anything. LOL

            • on September 23, 2010 at 12:26 am Trish

She says she is thrilled you have faith in her, Sondra! LOL :)

              • on September 23, 2010 at 12:46 am Sonnnn

I do!!! Is she working on OGB pins yet? We are going to need those! Plus I think we need some new pins & earrings for DD w/Joe’s short hair :) and Garbo pins… and Nick looks different now too :)

                • on September 23, 2010 at 3:22 pm Trish

Oh yeah, she’s already made some! :)

          • on September 23, 2010 at 12:39 am Sonnnn

The first people I met in the Jonas group were Jack, Garbo & Ryan last August. It was hard to call out to them and I was super nervous but I think it’s key to have something to say – a specific comment or question. Then there’s no awkwardness.

Anyway, I’ve always thought that that conversation helped me feel a little more confident about meeting the brothers. It was challenging to think about what I wanted to say to them (at the time I wanted to tell them something more than ask them anything).

          • on September 23, 2010 at 12:02 pm HeatherH23

I can’t wait to hear that story. That sounds really cool, meeting them on a street corner.

I am so excited for Corrine to get to meet JT! This whole thing is going to be so amazing for her. For all of us really!

I went to some concerts when I was a teenager, but there’s only been a couple here or there since then. Most of the concerts I’ve ever been to were contemporary Christian though. New Kids on the Block when I was younger, but that’s about all I can think of.

I’m quickly rectifying that though. I’m kind of obsessed with concerts now (although our next one is actually contemporary Christian-TobyMac/Michael W Smith/Third Day I’m pretty excited about it though. :)

  9. on September 22, 2010 at 12:26 am Sonnnn

I think OGB will handle it how Robert Schwartzman “meets fans.” He hangs around after the show with the band, and they say hi, sign stuff, hug you, talk about their grandparents in Boca, ha ha ha. They do encourage you to buy something from the merch counter. It’s casual.

When there’s 300 fans at a show a band can meet fans pretty easily. Most folks don’t even stick around to meet the band. That surprised me. The Young Veins were just milling around and I talked to them without trying hard at all.

It’ll be interesting to see who makes it to the shows once they happen. I don’t think a tour is coming any time real soon. I’m very interested in both the CD and the tour. I hope it’s easy for them to get the CD printed and sold once it’s wrapped. I know that process can be arduous and extended so I hope it’s not for OGB.

I wonder if they will hit both east and west coasts, and if they do, if gigs will be possible outside of LA and Jersey/NY. Very interesting!

  10. on September 22, 2010 at 12:28 am Sonnnn

In case you didn’t order a shirt yet, Casper says that he is working on getting the full online store up and running soon for OGB and when that happens, there will be womens shirt styles available as well as what we see now. I asked him for youth sizes too so hopefully that will also happen.

    • on September 22, 2010 at 1:31 am Trish

“full online store”?? Any idea what else they will have?

      • on September 22, 2010 at 1:33 am Sonnnn

I asked for ladies shirts and kids shirts and he confirmed having ladies styles. So I don’t know about anything else…I’ll ask. I guess eventually the CD : ) yay!

      • on September 22, 2010 at 1:34 am Sonnnn

Here’s what he said: “We will have ladies styles when the site and official store launches. These are just an initial sample of the shirts we will have in the official store.”

    • on September 22, 2010 at 7:41 pm lenzmom

I sure hope they add some larger adult sizes. I’d love to get one of the OGB shirts, but they’re all too small. Dang!!!!! I can’t run a street team, but I’d love to Represent! I’m so freakin’ excited about them finally getting this out. Especially after such a (for me anyway, I know purely selfish) disappointing US JB tour.

  11. on September 23, 2010 at 12:17 am Sonnnn

awesome news – Casper says in about one week, the online store will be fully stocked and he will have lots of options including womens and youth sizes, and more designs. I’m so excited! There’s a code for 20% off which is SINGIT20. I used it last night when I ordered DH a shirt. I’m waiting on mine and DD’s (and DS’s if he wants one) until the new styles are up.

Shel, I will ask Casper about larger sizes. That is definitely something that is needed.

    • on September 23, 2010 at 12:28 am Trish

And umm…ask him if he has any news on posters, pretty please!

      • on September 23, 2010 at 12:40 am Sonnnn

that’s so funny you mention that – I did! I gave him a few suggestions about merchandise I think could sell. We’ll see what he thinks!

    • on September 23, 2010 at 12:44 pm LENZMOM

Thanks, Sondra! I love coupons too, but I’d gladly pay extra for a shirt that’ll fit. Hey, I have an idea, you can head up the OGB-SR online street team!

      • on September 23, 2010 at 5:10 pm Sonnnn

You’re welcome Shel! Of course! I couldn’t street team but I can certainly use my marketing and promotional skills from the past to benefit OGB if possible. :)

  12. on September 24, 2010 at 7:18 am Sonnnn

OK…so it’s a surprise! We are supposed to hang on and the new items will be up in the store in just a little bit!

I suggested XL sizing, youth sizing, ladies shirts, baseball caps, football style jerseys for girls/women, bumper stickers, posters, key chains…

    I’m excited :)

    • on October 1, 2010 at 9:03 pm Elisa

Yay, I can’t wait till they get ladies’ sizes! I love the prints but I know I wouldn’t wear the regular t-shirts… except for working out or something. OGB deserves better than that ;)

      • on October 1, 2010 at 9:14 pm Sonnnn

they will have nice looking women’s shirts!

      • on October 1, 2010 at 9:16 pm Sonnnn

no news yet on the new shirts. but definitely more than one 20% off code to use when they are available.

  13. on October 12, 2010 at 9:29 am Sonnnn

clearly one week was grossly underestimated on the new selection. Blah!

We haven’t even received the shirt we ordered for Jeff on 9/22. I e-mailed Go Merch today about both issues.

Kinda frustrating that the shirt is taking so long to be delivered when they say 5-7 days. :( It’s been 20 days.

I’m not really upset since I know they are just getting started but I hope at least the shirt has posted.

  14. on October 17, 2010 at 2:05 am Sonnnn

I received Jeff’s shirt which is very cool. I put a pic up on Twitter. I’m hoping ladies shirts will indeed be added soon or I’m going to get a guys shirt. I’ll take a look at Jeff’s to figure out if I’ll like it!

    • on October 17, 2010 at 9:40 am mememoi

I am wearing my guys’ shirt right now!!!! I wore it all day yesterday and fell asleep in it, LOL. I got an XS in the dark grey with the orange/blue logo. I’m quite thrilled with the cut of it! :D American Apparel is trustworthy that way…

      • on October 17, 2010 at 11:53 pm Sonnnn

how is the XS on you? Is it pretty roomy? I’m plannng to order that size; I don’t mind shirts being form fitting (to a degree LOL).

I’m thinking of getting the light gray if Casper doesn’t get the new styles up soon. I can’t wait forever. :)

I love the fabric of the dark gray a LOT.

        • on October 18, 2010 at 8:03 am mememoi

I like the size, it’s comfy but not overly roomy, which would prevent me from wearing it out probably. It’s got a nice American Apparel fit, really.

          • on October 18, 2010 at 12:48 pm Sonnnn

I’m going to try it :) Thanks T!

      • on October 17, 2010 at 11:54 pm Sonnnn

My DH ordered an XL since they said it was slim but it really isn’t. It’s quite big on him. He’s okay with it though. He was a little bit nervous about the fabric at first but I assured him it was OK. :)

    • on October 17, 2010 at 6:45 pm HeatherH23

I’m seriously hoping to get mine tomorrow. I think I’m the last person in the US to get it. ;) I ordered the same one as MM, but I think I ordered a L. I didn’t realize at the time it was guys sizes, so I probably should have gotten a M. Oh well. I don’t mind shirts a little big. I’m looking forward to seeing it. :)

  15. on October 22, 2010 at 11:54 am Sonnnn

This article has some quotes from the guys about the cancelled Tampa show:

    http://www.cfnews13.com/article/news/2010/september/149305/Family-catches-up-with-Jonas-Bros-after-canceled-concert

    • on October 24, 2010 at 2:36 pm Trish

      That’s awesome! Good for them!

  16. on October 29, 2010 at 1:28 pm Sonnnn

I went ahead and ordered the light gray tri-blend because I can’t wait any longer LOL.

SINGIT20 is still good for 20% off if you’re wanting anything at all from GoMerch.

    • on October 30, 2010 at 4:34 pm HeatherH23

I’d forgotten about that. Thanks. I still need to order a smaller grey one.

  17. on November 1, 2010 at 5:29 pm HeatherH23

I just ordered a smaller shirt, but I didn’t get the discount. It said “SINGIT20″ was applied to all applicable items, but it didn’t show any discount. I guess my shirt wasn’t applicable? I got a small. Hope it fits. :)

    • on November 1, 2010 at 5:30 pm HeatherH23

It says “Discount percentage 20%” but it didn’t show a discount. *shrug*

      • on November 1, 2010 at 6:06 pm Sonnnn

It will show it on your final receipt only (not before that). Like this:

        SUBTOTAL $19.99
        DISCOUNT $4.00
        SHIPPING $4.30
        TOTAL $20.29

  18. on November 3, 2010 at 1:31 pm Sonnnn

my shirt shipped…I was a pain about it, e-mailing and everything, but I couldn’t wait 3 weeks again. LOL
