OK, sooo, this past week was a little traumatic.
Most importantly, Nick’s upper respiratory infection caused JB to cancel their show in Zurich due to illness- an unprecedented happening. He was told not to talk or sing for a bit, but was nice enough to send us a tweet assuring us he is starting to feel better and looking forward to the Bilbao show. We hope Nick is all better real soon (but will also understand if he needs to rest). Mr. President? Mr. Neverwantstostopsident is more like it.
Causing more trauma was the announcement from John Taylor that European M.E.N are (most likely) not logistically possible this tour.
Is there an opposite for squee? How about bloooo?

Nah, Guys we understand. We want everybody to be well, and not stress about providing us with super awesome playlists whilst their mobile phones mercilessly rack up roaming charges. We cool.
All things begin equal (and healthy) this should be a great week. We’ve got two stops in Spain, a night in the Netherlands, and a bash in Belgium.

How hilarious was Nick’s misplaced comma in his Tweet. Everytime I read that he is happy to announce he woke up today I laugh. God forbid he doesn’t wake up, but it’s nice that he’s so appreciative of it.

Just saw an interview with Kevin and Joe that they did in Zurich. They said that their mother and little brother were flying in that evening. So Denise (sorry, Nick….Mrs. Jonas) and Frankie didn’t arrive until Saturday evening. It must have taken longer to move than she thought it would. Poor Nick was sick without his mother there! (And I’m thinking he would have seen a doctor MUCH earlier if she had been!)

And they weren’t there for Kevin’s birthday either! Maybe that’s why we haven’t seen pictures of his birthday celebration – maybe they are postponing it til his mom and Frankie get there.
Oh man, that interview was painful to watch! I had to stop watching when the (annoying) interviewer wouldn’t let go of the purity thing… He should have moved on to another question after Joe said that they’d prefer to talk about their music.
But you’re right, I’m sure Mrs. Jonas (happy, Nick?
) would have made Nick take a break sooner!
I just wanted to say that I’m leaving tomorrow for a week in the Yucatan! I’m going with a friend whose niece is a college exchange student in Merida. When I get back, the first site I will check to see what I missed in Jonasworld will be Sibling Revelry. (Don’t let me down. “Dude, I rely on you!”)

We’re back from WDW, pooped and broke! But it was awesome, as always. Corinne’s birthday was on the 4th, and so of course with Kevin’s on the 5th, it was like celebrating his as well.

Wow! Thanks for the Bilbao update! The whole crowd is singing with them rather than screaming. That is great to hear. I know that makes the guys feel good.
I hope their voices hold out for the next few weeks. They had moments of sounding really strong and clear and moments of fading out. I know they are doing whatever they can to stay healthy and well.

They sound OK to me, good for all having colds. I do like Joe’s oh oh at 2:53, cpaig – very nice. Reminds me of Battlefield – I love Joe on that one. I think the fans get over exuberant sometimes with the singing. I remember at my first Duran Duran show I sang every word. I couldn’t talk for days after that!
Nick in the headband still is a bit ridiculous, esp on the piano. But I like it, it’s Nick, I like it.
Joe sounds AMAZING to me on that Bilbao clip…yes, he always does (to me)…but I don’t always really hear it in the YouTube recordings. This is a nice one.
Sondra – I love the ‘oh-oh’, too!
I’ve been calling it his live “noodling”…he’s always done that a little (ie. the “Still In Love With You” changes that stuck) but it seems like he has been doing it increasingly lately and it is something I love, love, LOVE. I guess they could be rehearsed noodles, but they always seem impromptu and heartfelt. Marvelous, that fella. Love!
Joe moaning like on the TS song or ooh oohing or anything impromptu like that is a major win, yes. I love the smoothness of his voice. There is a line in Paranoid I repeat over and over at times – just the line where he says “paranoid…yeah” at the end, you know it, right mememoi? He sounds so slick I love it.
WYLMITE has always been one of those songs that I think Joe strains on a little (like in the HM concert movie), but holy cow he sounds fantastic in that clip!! His vocals seem to be getting better and better.
And for what it’s worth, I LOVE the headband. It cracks me up that he keeps wearing it. Like there is a reason for it or something.
I agree on WYLMITE,esp. re:Joe. It has become one of the weaker ones, live, across the board. Yeah, that’s what makes the clip so surprising! LOL.
and how about those darn gray pants!? he hasn’t worn ANYTHING else since he left the US. So funny. He must have a dozen pairs. He gets so attached to pants! And sometimes to shoes.

Cpaig was commenting this morning that there seemed to be a lot tough elements this leg of the tour so far: they seem exhausted, the teleprompter debacle at the EMAs, the awkward purity ring questions in that interview, Nick being sick (of course), even on this side of the pond, there was TSwift dredging up “good times” on SNL.
So…..I am going to go out on a limb and say maybe the headband has been a small curse on their fortunes….there’s only one way to find out if that’s true, Nick!

I miss the “old days” of Joe jumping on the piano during WYLMITE, *sigh* – I know it’s just the new stage setup, but I miss all their old antics – flips and running around. It’s a different kind of energy now.
Anyway, they sound great, I’m sure Nick is struggling with a leftover scratchy throat, that can hang on so long. But, I do not understand the headband! It sort of makes him look like a 12 year old girl. You would think his brothers would give him a hard time about it! Maybe he lost a bet or something

Personally, I’m not feeling the headband. That’s what hair looks like when you’re using the headband to hold it off your face while you wash & put on make-up. Wasn’t there a line in Double Date about brothers not letting brothers look like fools? *s* I know some of you love it, but I’m not liking it and can’t wait for it to pass. Most of the hats NJ wears, though, really rock. I love him in hats.

Has Danielle even been with Kevin at all since they started this last World Tour leg? I’ve seen pics of her bridal shower pop up during the Latin American part, so that means she was home in NJ then. I haven’t heard of her in Europe either
If she isn’t there, it must have made more sense for her to stay here than to travel with him. I get the feeling that they are together as much as they possibly can be. He has made it very clear how much he loves her. I am sure he doesn’t want to be without her unless it is necessary.

Oh, I thought of something else very positive about the Nick Jonas project today. I’m only assuming of course, but perhaps this is Nick’s opportunity to play lead guitar, which there is no need for him to do whatsoever in the JB…
I’m curious to see him get some real licks in, esp after watching Brad and Keith so intensely over the past few months.
The more I think about it, the more the extraJonasBrotherial project makes sense. He can do a lot of things in that setup that he can’t/wouldn’t want to do in the JB formation.
Also, artists do retain the right to play music alone, or with various people. So many have done it without abandoning their main group. I know why the young fans worry but it is not that unusual.
What is unusual is that a 14, 15, 16 now 17 year old is in that position at all – playing in such a well known band and now already having chances to do something additional. It’s pretty crazy. Sometimes when I listen to the black JB CD, I just can’t get my mind around the fact that I am listening to a 14 year old sing like that. I still can’t believe it. I don’t know how old he’s going to have to be before I can accept it LOL. Maybe 18 will do it.
Some people call the songs, including WYLMITE, on the Nicholas Jonas CD trite or whatever, but a 12 year old wrote those songs and those lyrics (obviously not the covers ha ha). It’s just something I can’t believe.
Why was I not born a musical person? It drives me crazy that I can appreciate it and LOVE it so much yet I can’t sing or really understand music. I played piano for 5 years and I was very very good but it wasn’t natural for me. I think it’s in my genes but it’s so frustrating.
I’m with ya, Sondra. Nick really does have something special. I’m not musical either and when I try to sing, well, it’s just awful. I get really tired of hearing people say that their songs lyrics are “bubble gum” or “for little kids”. They just are not listening. And, in all of this Taylor Swift hoopla that I’ve seen on the blogs about how terrible she is and that she should “go to the Disney Channel” and do her thing…..well, it makes me angry!!! Sorry, but JB and Demi can out-perform TS on their worst day. Demi has some serious pipes!
I can’t stop listening to Turn Right off of the Walmart Soundcheck CD. It is amazing! That CD/DVD was the best $9 I’ve ever spent!

Ack, Monica – I have seen the same slams about Taylor Swift and they aggravate me the same way!!! The Disney stigma is way out of proportion considering the massive talent they represent in the Jonases and Demi, and even Miley for that matter. It’s so unfair.
That Turn Right recording (based on the web version, whcih I assume is the same) is one of the best things they have done EVER!!!! I have spent entire weekends listening to my old bootleg version on nonstop repeat. Beautiful.

So after the park & ice cream, I took my kids out to dinner (Italian) since my DH went to the Hard Rock Seminole Casino with friends to celebrate a b-day. (He’s still out.)
We came home and watched the 3D movie (in 2D of course). It was E’s first time watching. He liked it some. Both kids wrote down all the songs while we were watching. Then E abbreviated all the song titles to initials only. He is consumed with his “whiteboard” and his dry erase marker these days so of course R has to do the same thing.
Apparently Nick and Joe are R’s favorites but no one is last – Kevin is second. No one is third. She made that clear. And E says Joe is his favorite. He has never been a huge fan of Nick, probably because it’s Nick’s fault I bug him with hair do’s. But there are days he forgets about that. Both my kids think Kevin is hilarious.
R fell asleep 50 minutes after the usual bedtime of 8, during the movie. E of course was awake for the whole thing. He is also up at 5 every morning no matter what. Even R is up by 6:30 usually at the latest…I don’t know where they get it from. DH & I would sleep until 11 everyday if you let us.
and PS R’s favorite moment, what she stayed awake for, is Taylor Swift’s song. She loves it. We both do. I don’t think either child was overly impressed with Can’t Have You. They don’t get that dramatic stuff.
They love the chase sequence at the beginning.
Oh, and as for myself – I never noticed until tonight Ryan playing guitar! I thought I had seen everything the movie had to offer, but nope!
R asked me “we met the drummist, right?” so cute. She remembers Greg completely clearly ha ha. I think because he did the most talking, and engaged her, but she also says he’s cute.

JB might just look cold because it’s overcast. I’m sure it’s cool; hopefully they weren’t too cold. I lived in Germany in the winter many years ago. It’s not too bad (better than New England, I’d say), but you do need a good coat.

did you already watch the All Access videos at WAlmart.com? I hadn’t so there was a lot on the DVD I never saw before! Horns horns horns! Fans! arriving at the venue. It was really enlightening! It was a surprise to me!
I think I did watch that, but when I watch it I’ll find out for sure. I remember the Horns and I remember them arriving at the venue.
I just watched the JB Walmart DVD. Yes, I’d already watched it all on the Internet. Once in the summer and once later a few weeks ago. (I think.) I loved getting to know the Horns section. I love seeing Nick smile. The mix is great (JB sounds great). And there is a cute meet and greet video where Joe is talking to a little girl and she runs away. So cute! The only bad thing is that they only play 6 songs on the CD, but the arrangements are so good, I’ll take it! LOVE SOS with the Horns.

I’m back from the Yucatan! I had one of the best vacations of my life! I saw Chichen Itza, haciendas, went to the beach at Celestun and saw flocks of flamingos! The hotel we stayed at was a 12-room hacienda-style inn. The owners were so friendly. I’m glad that I went.
Glad that Nick is feeling better. Hope all the boys are. I can’t believe that the tour ends next week!
