WOW.

OK, last week was AWESOME! Music, interviews, headbands, pageboy hats, indoor scarves, and Kevin rocking a military jacket like no other. Oh, yeah, and they seem to have added “Don’t Speak” to their set list (buying my tickets to Rotterdam right now – *sigh* – I WISH!…).

This week will likely be even awesomer (to use an imaginary word)! They are back on the big round spinning stage and they are totally in Italy. We will do our best to keep you in pictures and videos!

Updates: Turin & Zurich (oh, dear..)…

“Tonight”

“Black Keys” and “ALBL”

11.07.09 Zurich, Switzerland

We are sad to announce the cancellation of the Jonas Brothers concert for this evening in Zurich.  Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is ill with an upper respiratory infection of the nose and throat and the doctor has advised that he not speak or sing.  This is the first time that the Jonas Brothers have ever cancelled a show for sickness and deeply regret that they will not be able to perform as a group tonight.

The band, the management, and the promoter apologize that the show must be cancelled on such short notice.  We will do everything we can to revisit Zurich in the future and perform for our wonderful fans. (MySpace)

Get well soon, Nick!

I’m excited about the time difference – it’s cool that they will be onstage at 2 pm EST. Something to think about as I pick up the kids. :)

  2. on November 3, 2009 at 12:06 pm Monica

“Don’t Speak” live??? Agh! That song was one of my faves from the beginning. How fun for Kevin to have a European birthday! Wonder of Danielle is with him.

I’ve asked this question before. Does anyone think they are ever going to release a new single? I realize they don’t get any airplay (yet, Justin Bieber does – amazes me).

And….the “Double Date” JONAS episode is the only one I’ve ever watched ahead of time on YouTube. Love, love, love it! Love how they try to out-diss each other at dinner. And the kisses! Adorable.

  3. on November 3, 2009 at 2:14 pm Netter

I legit just looked for tickets at the concert in London. Wish airfare wasn’t so expensive. Flights to LA, on the other hand are looking really good…..sigh.

    Monica – I watched too…loved the episode.

I wish they would release a new single. But, maybe they’re saving up all the air play for Nick. But, it’s all speculation…you never know with this group.

  4. on November 3, 2009 at 4:50 pm Sonnnn

Justin Bieber on the radio just frustrates me completely.

    I guess that’s why Frankie will be joining them in 2 days – Kevin’s b-day! :)

  5. on November 3, 2009 at 5:26 pm mememoi

That is truly weird about the radio play and that Bieber kid. I have never heard him…is he more R&B oriented than our boys? That might explain something.

I’ve been reading a lot of chart analysis on Idolator and other places and it seems like Top 40/pop radio is easier on R&B and hip-hop male artists, as opposed to the kind of powerpop the Jonases play. They aren’t rock enough by modern standards to play on rock radio stations, and don’t fit in with the modern pop tastes, which either want divas or R&B/hip-hop flavored things. Adam Lambert will probably make it through too, because he’ll sing songs more in the female pop diva range.

They just don’t fit in anywhere…occasionally you get a breakthrough male pop single chart topper like “Hey There Delilah” or that Owl City song which crossed over from other charts. But the Jonases don’t really have another supportive radio chart (like adult contemporary or rock formats) to cross over from. [Besides Radio Disney which...doesn't really work...]

I personally don’t mind the Jonases not trying to suit the needs of Top 40, or any chart, too hard….as much as I’d love a ubiquitous, beloved single for them to be remembered forever by. I often wonder why there doesn’t seem to be any fight behind the Jonases to alter this.

I guess maybe Nick could have better luck with a solo single?

  6. on November 3, 2009 at 6:08 pm Netter

Yeah, Justin Bieber has a catchy song and it does lean more hip-hop (he’s being supported by Usher), which explains why it does better on standard top 40 radio. Our boys music doesn’t fit in any true mold (which is why i love it!). A tad too soft for the hard rock stations, a tad to rock for AC, as mememoi stated. I agree that I would love to have them have that one radio hit. But look at Miley – her Party in the USA made it to the top of the radio lists, and in every interview she does about it, she says it’s not the type of music she wants to make. I never want the Jonas Brothers to say the same thing in interviews because they made a song to make it to the top of the charts. Keep making music from the heart boys, and we’ll stick with you!

    • on November 3, 2009 at 7:12 pm mememoi

      Exactly!

    • on November 4, 2009 at 12:20 am Sonnnn

right, and Demi Lovato basically told everyone she doesn’t like the music she is making either because she would prefer to make hard rock/metal music. That is not what i want to hear when I support someone’s music career.

  7. on November 3, 2009 at 7:54 pm Elisa

Haha, so funny to read what you’re saying about Justin Bieber… I JUST tweeted that I don’t understand why he’s so huge right now. (And by huge I mean that he’s even made it big HERE, in such a short time… They play him on the radio all the time, whereas JB… Well, I’ve heard them on the radio three times: WYLMITE once and SOS twice, in the middle of the night.) I just don’t get it. Oh well. Maybe I’m just getting old? :)

I’m so hoping for a new single (and a music video!). I was thinking that “Before the Storm” would be a great choice… Of course, if it became a huge hit, people would probably say that it was all because of Miley, but I still think it would be a very smart choice for a single. The backstory to it makes it very interesting. And I honestly think it’s a wonderful song. Maybe it would pave the way for the Boys’ next singles…

I would love for them to choose “Don’t Speak” or “Black Keys”, but I’m not sure if I can imagine those being played on the radio (unfortunately). What about WW3? It was so awesome when they played it at the TCA… And that is my friend’s favorite JB song, and she usually listens to something like LaRoux or even Justin Bieber (LOL), something that you can dance to.

It’s hard to be objective and think of what the general public would like, when I absolutely adore every single song the Boys have ever written. :)

I barely listen to the radio at all (because I dislike most of the music that’s played there) but I would just love for the boys to have at least ONE number 1 song! It really is a shame that they’re known mostly for their relationships and purity rings, not for their music.

    • on November 4, 2009 at 12:21 am Sonnnn

oh no no on Before the Storm. No more associating Miley with the JB would be too soon IMO. :D I can’t stand her voice on that song.

I think WW3 is an awesome song. I think Don’t Speak would be received favorably; even my DH likes Nick’s singing on that one.

  8. on November 3, 2009 at 8:00 pm Elisa

Oh right, that wasn’t the actual topic here… LOL

I’ve said this a million times, but I nearly died when I heard that they played DS in Mexico. That is the one song I am dying to hear live, it means SO much to me. (When I watched a video of the performance, I teared up as soon as they started playing the intro. Haha.) I’m so hoping that they’ll play it in London…

  9. on November 3, 2009 at 8:53 pm mememoi

    RE: Singles:

I would vote for “WW3″ also…I think it’s pretty great! It has the most potential for broad appeal. But again, the style isn’t what people are looking for on Top 40. It’s so funky soulish.

I think “Hey Baby” could also be awesome. Maybe “What Did I Do to Your Heart”, but it has a novelty quality…IDK if that would work on Top 40.

My real album favorite is “Much Better”…so it’s a shame it take s a direct dig at Taylor Swift…seeing as she’s such a sacred cow and that drama is such a dead horse. I think it’s a wonderful song, and it was such a favorite with most of the critics reviewing the album.

“Don’t Speak” might be all right. It has a drama to it that could catch on at radio…but it is a bit U2 derivative and I don’t really like Nick’s technique on the verses.

“Before the Storm” is too much of a Miley/Nick show for my taste – it thrilled me live in Dallas but it doesn’t do much for me in other contexts. And “Black Keys” is absolutely beautiful but I can’t hear it on the radio, either. Hm.

It’s a tough album for singles. I’d have an easier time picking singles from “A Little Bit Longer”. I will never understand their management’s untimely burial of that album.

    • on November 4, 2009 at 1:19 am gityofunon

I completely agree with your top two choices for the next single, meme, and in that order. I’ve said it before here, plenty of times, but I just love those tracks and could totally see the non-initiated sitting up and taking notice because of them. If neither are the next single it’ll be a waste, if you ask me.

    • on November 4, 2009 at 10:35 am sharpld

I have to wonder if part of my love for “Don’t Speak” is that it is a bit U2-derivative. U2 is one of my “life” bands since I have been a fan since I was a tween. :) . I didn’t think aobut it striking that chord with me, but it makes perfect sense.

      • on November 4, 2009 at 10:38 am mememoi

I really like U2, too! So I didn’t mean that in a bad way, really, just maybe not what the JBs would want as a widespread single, since people would be likely to overly focus on that similarity.

        • on November 4, 2009 at 10:47 am sharpld

I didn’t take the comparison as a bad thing and I agree that it is best left as a little gem on the album.

          • on November 4, 2009 at 10:53 am mememoi

            :)

  10. on November 3, 2009 at 10:31 pm coolmom823

It’s a double edged sword for sure, the radio single thing. I know for me personally, I hadn’t listend to the radio in over a decade, no lie, and I fell in love with the Jonas Brother’s sound precisely because it WASN’T what would play on the radio, lol!

I agree completely with you mememoi about ALBL being much more fertile ground for singles. SO MANY good songs on that album. A dropped ball, if you want my good opinion on their management’s choices there. :(

    • on November 3, 2009 at 10:43 pm mememoi

“I fell in love with the Jonas Brother’s sound precisely because it WASN’T what would play on the radio”

….YES, this – I totally agree. Not the radio, or the indie-approved list I was stuck on.

      So refreshing. :)

  11. on November 4, 2009 at 12:23 am Sonnnn

Lately I can’t seem to listen to Don’t Charge Me for the Crime at all. Anyone else feel that way? I used to listen to it and I liked it somewhat but these days I just skip it. That brings my LVATT down to 11 songs :(

    • on November 4, 2009 at 1:26 am gityofunon

LOL, um, you’re not alone. I was feeling that way quite soon after I bought the album. I gave it, perhaps, two complete listens, and then I couldn’t listen to it anymore. I can totally appreciate what they were trying to accomplish with it– a story song– but it’s just… incongruous.

      • on November 4, 2009 at 8:07 am Sonnnn

it doesn’t make much sense to me either.

      • on November 4, 2009 at 9:45 am Netter

I actually have days where I listen to don’t charge me for the crime on repeat. It has really grown on me and I know I’m fairly alone in my love for the song. Joe just sounds so good.

        • on November 4, 2009 at 10:42 am mememoi

Agree!! I like it a lot. I love the sounds and the story it tells, and I wish I could get my youth group students to think it was cool. :)

  12. on November 4, 2009 at 8:08 am Sonnnn

SO…Joe had on safety pin decor last night…love that :)

    • on November 4, 2009 at 11:26 am mememoi

I love it too…it’s so old-school punk in some sense but doesn’t he wear clothing that has them laid out in specific designs, like a cross? Much more modern. Yet kinda artsy-craftsy too. Loves it. LOL. :) I wonder if it’s from a formal designer or if it’s just someone clever on their wardrobe team.

      • on November 5, 2009 at 9:55 am Sonnnn

I’ve only seen the neckline trim thing (in IT & on the TCA) and the cross pattern shirt so far that I can remember. It looks like it would take so much time to set up LOL

  13. on November 4, 2009 at 8:34 am Monica

Oh I love this conversation. I used to get so chapped that our Top 40 station never played them. But I still don’t understand not putting out a new single. It’s like they’ve given up on LVATT. It’s such a great CD. Loved reading all your thoughts on this!!

And I just read in some magazine where safety pins are the “latest” trend in accessories! Joseph…always on the cutting edge!

  14. on November 4, 2009 at 9:13 am Sonnnn

how about two-finger rings? Joe seems to have one of those on his right hand right now. That is unusual!

  15. on November 4, 2009 at 10:26 am sharpld

I just finished watching the press conference. I would love to know what Joe and Kevin were saying to each other in their constant sidebar chatter. All three boys seemed happy and relaxed and maybe just a little bit hungry, given all the references to food. :)

  16. on November 4, 2009 at 8:55 pm Jan

I thought it was interesting in the press conference that they pretty much came out and said that there wasn’t going to be a new album anytime soon. They said that putting out 4 albums in 3 and 1/2 years was a lot of work and that they may wait for awhile. I’m assuming that they want to give Nick’s album time to be out front for awhile.

I also can’t listen to “Don’t Charge Me for the Crime” too often. It’s usually the one that I skip. I listen to “WWIII” constantly followed by “Paranoid.” I usually give each of the other songs a once over but skip DCMftC. And, Sonnnn, I agree with you. I don’t like Miley’s voice on “Before the Storm.” Actually, I find her a little too twangy on any song she does.

    • on November 5, 2009 at 9:56 am Sonnnn

I was pretty taken aback at their comments about a new CD. I assume they don’t want to compete with Nick or themselves (JONAS soundtrack)…but it made me feel a tad concerned for when they will record again.

  17. on November 4, 2009 at 9:49 pm Laura (VA,USA)

Oh my gosh, they all look beautiful and happy and relaxed. I hope they are finding time to indulge in some shopping!

  18. on November 5, 2009 at 11:26 pm Barbara

Anybody else thinking that the JBs are looking exceptionally good in all of the above photos (ie most/all of the tour photos we’ve seen in the last few days)? They’re just such good “poses”. And I’m still not a great fan of Joe’s haircut, but they still all look really good. The shots are great – I’m assuming that’s a tribute to the great RH. :)

  19. on November 6, 2009 at 9:03 am Sonnnn

They do look good, I love how they get dressed for award shows.

Speaking of award shows, what is up with the tweet to Katy Perry? Who on their staff wrote that and why??? It definitely does not sound like any of them, or any young person…

Good to see her healthy? is that a code word for seeing a lot of her body? LOL Even the God Bless part, they would say that, but do they usually choose those words? It was a weird tweet and I wonder who thought it was necessary and/or a good idea…

    • on November 6, 2009 at 7:54 pm Barbara

I was thinking maybe JB met Katy Perry sometime in the past and like her? (In a friendly “showbiz” way?) I don’t know. I was reading some comments at JonasHQ.org and there was speculation on what the tweet meant and what it was code for. I think someone thought of her being pregnant?!?!? I just figured JB had met her and were being nice. I guess I don’t have enough desire or mental energy to figure it out. LOL.

      • on November 6, 2009 at 8:00 pm mememoi

I am sure they might have have in the past. She was a CCM artist, with a gospel rock album, as Katy Hudson, as recently as 2001…no?

        • on November 6, 2009 at 8:06 pm Barbara

I am no expert, but I know none of this! Are you saying Katy Perry went by Katy Hudson on a gospel rock album? That’s certainly fascinating. I might try to google that. If you have a website link/proof, I’d love to read about that.

        • on November 6, 2009 at 8:11 pm Barbara

Googled Katy Hudson. You’re right. I’ve never heard of the term “gospel rock”, but that’s the term wikipedia uses.

          Hmm. Such a change.

          • on November 6, 2009 at 8:16 pm mememoi

            This is interesting too… http://blog.beliefnet.com/gospelsoundcheck/2008/06/katy-perry-christian-recording.html

            Yes…it is a radical change!

            • on November 6, 2009 at 8:51 pm Barbara

I found that article, too, after I wrote my comment. Thanks for posting. Read several articles on her. Sounds a lot like she’s walked away from her faith. No one really knows her heart, but the things she’s doing don’t seem to show she’s following Christ. In one of the articles I read she said she was searching.

You seem to think the JB knew her because of her gospel/Christian music connection. How well do you think they knew her? I’m wondering because her album came out in 2001… Just thinking out loud here.

Thanks for the interesting info. I never knew that about Katy Perry. Thinks that might you go hmmm.

              • on November 6, 2009 at 9:08 pm mememoi

I’m not sure they would have known her personally much if at all…esp the boys themselves. But Papa J seemed fairly involved in CCM earlier…maybe there was some kind of acquaintance there? But I dunno.

It’s just the only overlap or reason for interest I can imagine, there. She seems like one strayed from the flock for sure.

As for her these days…isn’t she shacking up with Russell Brand lately? That was kind of what made the glow comment the weirdest…

                • on November 7, 2009 at 12:23 am Barbara

Yes, I heard she was dating Russell Brand. Yeah, the “glow” comment is kind of odd.

And yeah, Papa J in CCM. He knew Michael W. Smith apparently (wrote a song for him????). He probably knows, or knew, several people in that business. Maybe he knew Katy Hudson (Perry). So maybe there was an acquaintance. Interesting guess either way. :)

  20. on November 6, 2009 at 9:37 am Sonnnn

no thoughts on Joe’s unusual ring? He looked like it was giving him trouble trying to sign autographs with his two fingers tied together. :)

    • on November 6, 2009 at 7:51 pm Barbara

I didn’t notice the ring at first, but then when I did (after rereading a comment of yours), I wondered about it, too. No deep thoughts. Joe likes it? LOL.

    • on November 6, 2009 at 9:08 pm mememoi

      It is intriguing….

so…is one of those Joe’s I wonder? Does his have separate finger holes or one big finger hole?

        • on November 7, 2009 at 12:30 am Barbara

          It looks similar.

  21. on November 6, 2009 at 10:44 am sharpld

The red carpet interview was a bit painful to watch, but the Guys handled themselves with grace, as always.

After reading all of the tweets yesterday, I am glad I couldn’t get the EMA live stream. I love the photos. The boys look so handsome!

    • on November 6, 2009 at 7:52 pm Barbara

Amen to handsome. They look so sharp in their suits. I wish they would dress up more often. :) Love the shiny suits.

  22. on November 6, 2009 at 9:18 pm Sonnnn

      Wireless mic pack?

      • on November 6, 2009 at 9:37 pm mememoi

        Not sure why tho.

    • on November 7, 2009 at 12:35 am Barbara

I don’t know what or why, but Kevin is looking smokin’ in that jacket.

  23. on November 7, 2009 at 9:49 am Elisa

I was wondering about the Tweet too! So weird… And then KP tweeted “Can’t sleep!”

That’s very interesting about KP being a gospel artist before! I had no idea.

  24. on November 7, 2009 at 12:30 pm Ella

I have thoughts about Joe’s new ring!

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bEBzZgZ5Tmc/SZoXMgxRELI/AAAAAAAAUR4/-ue1ipAPLEc/s1600/Erica%2BAnenberg%2Btwo%2Bfinger%2Bring.jpg

Maybe the reason why he is wearing that ring is that it symbolizes him and Dem! They are separated in places but their hearts were locked as one.. <3

What do you guys think about it??

    • on November 7, 2009 at 12:51 pm Sonnnn

well I don’t know about him & Demi since I’m not privy to that info but I wouldn’t be surprised if it meant something to Joe emotionally. I am sure a lot of his jewelry is given to him by friends and has underlying meaning for him. Some of it, though, is just jewelry. He likes experimenting with fashion.

  25. on November 7, 2009 at 5:53 pm Sonnnn

Isn’t it awful to be 17 and when you get sick, you know you’re disappointing thousands of people? Lots of responsibility to carry around. :(

    • on November 7, 2009 at 5:59 pm Jan

You could tell that Nick looked sick in the video where they are listening to JayZ at the European MTV awards. I wonder why they dragged him shopping around Turin yesterday.

      • on November 7, 2009 at 11:12 pm Sonnnn

exactly, Jan!!!!! same thought I had. He must have said, “I’m fine! I’m fine!” Probably why Dad has been keeping an eye on him lately too. They probably finally got him to admit he’s really sick today. :(

    • on November 7, 2009 at 8:47 pm Jan

When I taught, I used to get upper respiratory infections at least once a year (pharyngitis and laryngitis). I’d be feeling a bit poor in the evening and having a sore throat. The next morning I couldn’t even talk. I had to have my sister call the sub service for me because I couldn’t talk to them about getting a substitute. I just hope that Nick gets well soon and doesn’t have the flu that shall not be named. He’s been looking a bit rundown lately.

      • on November 7, 2009 at 11:13 pm Sonnnn

and being sick is more serious when you’re diabetic, too. We’ve got some worrying to do, SR fanladies!

  26. on November 7, 2009 at 11:16 pm mememoi

I think Nick pushes himself way too hard. Personal breaks are really important.

    • on November 8, 2009 at 12:01 am Sonnnn

I think so too. Maybe as he gets older and matures, he will be able to feel more comfortable with down time and realize it is also crucial to the creativity process. He’s so driven – if he doesn’t realize it sooner, when he gets married and has kids of his own, he’ll realize it then.

  27. on November 7, 2009 at 11:59 pm Sonnnn

so, this is as good a thread as any to talk about the convo I got to have with Robert Schwartzman tonight. It was fun and I’m glad he got to me when he did because his iPhone completely died after I let him go. I actually ended the conversation LOL – I didn’t have any other questions in mind and I felt it would be good to let him hang up while it was going good, you know? I said “well I should let you go charge your iPhone now Robert.” :D

We got to talk about a lot of stuff – some of the questions I had for him he covered with other callers prior to me … I liked the format of the SayNow – hearing the other conversations is interesting, and when you’re on the phone, it is just like any other call and you forget you’re being heard by lots of other people.

Rooney is coming to FL next year for sure, when they do a major tour promoting a new CD that will be released early in the year. The short tour they’re doing now with Crash Kings and Tallyhall is to promote an EP and the songs on the EP are different than the ones on the CD. (Shelly I mentioned you and that you are going to get the CD for me yay!) He said the songs will be available on iTunes but the physical CD will have some special things for the fans and it won’t be available anywhere else.

The EP was recorded entirely in his studio and the CD will be released by the band, not a label – he said it was great not having the label “breathe down their necks.”

He talked about choosing every song, and planning every note very carefully on the CD and making the CD something that can be listened to from start to finish, and that some bands let the labels engineer a record with some hits and some not-so-good material, and some bands just don’t care that much. (!!!)

He explained how the tour came about with Crash Kings and Tallyhall…he knows CK through his “good friend John Taylor” (was so cool to hear him tell someone that!) who met Tony & Mike (CK) at Berklee, who are also his friends. Robert did not know Tallyhall before the tour (he sd someone brought them to his attention) but JT Tweeted me that he’s familiar with them, so maybe he had something to do with introducing them to each other.

I asked him about Letting You Down and he explained how John Fields (Rooney’s producer/longtime friend) told him about these kids who were “really young” (Nick was 14 when they first met) but so talented, and serious about music and really devoted to what they were doing, and asked him to write with them. So he went to do it and it was a whole production with their photographer there (LOL), and a camera crew and the whole band, etc and it was strange to write a song in front of all that. He said he played piano and bass on the song and backing vocals and there is a recorded version. JB owns it and thye have told him it’s going to be released on the last two CDs but obviously it hasn’t. He said he keeps looking for it but “these things are political.”

We talked about so many things, about me, and my daughter and the songs we like, and why we like Rooney. He especially likes talking about his music so that was great. – he said the JB told him how they liked Rooney so much and would they tour with them (back in ’08) because they didn’t have an opening act. I asked him about his lyrics and I told him Rooney is on Nick Jonas’ playlists and he was genuinely happy to hear that (and didn’t know it already). And yes I said “17″ magazine and Rolling Stone, so funny. I thought it would be weird but it wasn’t. :)

I asked him about his relationship with his brother (they are super close) and we talked about his mom (she broke her arm recently) and he just lost his grandfather at 101 (his dad’s dad).

He talked a lot about having a mixed fan base – lots of parents/older folks in there – so we talked some about that. I didn’t get to talk Dodgers w/him but he did talk a lot about them w/an earlier caller. He definitely made me feel really comfortable and appreciated and it was very very easy to talk to him.

He was on SayNow about 1 hr 35 min before his phone died. He told me he was hungry anyway LOL!

One thing he said that was very meaningful to me (esp as a JB fan) – other than the part about questions about his music being the best questions – was when he was asked what can Rooney fans do most to help Rooney. He said he understands that fans come and go and move on to new bands but that this is not necessary, that fans don’t have to move on and can stay with a band. He said that he and the guys will make music together forever and that he would really like it if the fans would stay around and keep listening to the band’s music, keep caring about the band. So fanladies, I know we talk about doing that for JB and I think we can really take heart in the fact that it’s much appreciated. I really think I am going to feel much better from now on about being an adult JB fan.

Also I found it interesting that one of the other guys in the band is studying at Santa Monica Comm College and wants to be a veterinarian.

The other fans were great too, very interesting calls. Robert is a big fan of Steely Dan and likes Tom Petty, and late 50s/early 60s pop music – he mentioned Carole King and Burt Bacharach. And Queen and the Beatles.

It was a really good time – I’m so glad he chose to spend time doing that with fans. I will try to call in on the JB SayNow conf calls because it would be fun just to hear them talking to people.

But it’s a shame that they get a lot of screamers and craziness. Robert’s fans were all female, and very enthusiastic and devoted, but not squealy – there was one 36 yr old who called in and said she felt “old” and he told her that his 101-yr-old grandpa would have said she is a child. :D There was one fan who did say how “beautiful” he was but he just skimmed over it gracefully. :)

He was really good with everyone, asking them a lot of questions and listening to their questions. My DH was amazed he spent so much time w/me (he thought it was half an hour but I’m sure it was more like 20 minutes) but I think he was enjoying the questions I had since they were different than some others and plus he knew I’d be the last call he was going to take.

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing. I have heard a few of their songs on youtube (since you told us about them :) ) and I enjoy their music. Keep us informed, if possible (via Twitter, if nothing else.)

I would love to! I think everyone (and their mom/dad) would like Rooney’s music. It’s very easy to listen to and its the kind of stuff you feel familiar with right away, like you don’t have to listen to it a bunch of times or try to get used to it…

I did tell Robert that, that when I first saw them perform in March 08 for the JB that it sounded good to me right away and he appreciated that a lot. I had never heard of them before that night. We hadn’t seen Princess Diaries LOL. I also told him that I think parents and older folks like Rooney is because the music is poppy, and has all the stuff of the 80s thats good, and none of the stuff thats stupid! He loved that!

Hi, I’m not really a Jonas brother fan but I came across this through clicking on some links on twitter when I was looking for stuff on the saynow chat that I missed out on because I don’t live in America.

Thanks so much for the summary! Can I ask two questions?

          1. Which Rooney member is studying at Santa Monica?

          and

          2. Can you elaborate on what he said about his family? I love them all especially his brother.

          Thanks so much again!!

          • on November 8, 2009 at 4:18 am Sonnnn

I am not 100% sure about the college ques and don’t want to get it wrong! I didn’t ask the question personally – Robert was telling a caller who is currently applying at colleges, mainly UC colleges, about how nice he has heard SMCC is and I think maybe it’s Taylor because he’s from Santa Monica…but I can’t say for sure. You should Twitter them and ask. I’m sorry I don’t remember.

I mentioned to Robert I was enjoying Bored to Death and I had decided I had to see all his brother’s films, and I asked whether they saw each other and hung out. He told me they are 2 1/2 years apart, and went to elementary school together, and high school together, and did everything together and are very close and spend a lot of time together now. I think he said they live close to each other. I said how nice that is to have a relationship like that. Then I asked how his mom is doing (I was thinking about her since I had just watched her in I Heart Huckabees) and he said good, but that she had broken her arm but that she was good. Then I told him I was sorry about his grandpa (he died a month ago at 101 years old! – he had mentioned him to a previous caller). And he said thank you and that it was okay…I think that’s all I asked. I was interested in whether he and Jason are close and I do like his family but I didn’t want to ask too many questions. He is very open but I still didn’t want to ask too much.

Yay, I was dying to hear about your conversation with Robert!!!

Thank you so much for sharing every detail… So fascinating to read! That’s so cool that you got to ask him so many questions (they were really good ones, btw). And I’m glad you told him about Nick’s playlists! I’m sure that made him happy. : )

Okay, so I guess in one of the LTD episodes they were writing LYD? When Robert was on the piano…

I am happy to hear that there is a recorded version of LYD, but why, oh why hasn’t it been released?? It’s such an awesome song.

Oh, and I love what John Fields had said about the JB!

I still can’t believe you got to talk to him!

      • on November 8, 2009 at 7:08 pm Sonnnn

I know, and the more time that goes by, the less likely it is we’ll ever hear it. I told him I love the song. Yeah, all the cameras were probably LTD related – I forgot about all of that. seems like so long ago!!!

He said that his songs are about real stories that he knows about or that happened to him but he does change the endings sometimes for the song and to cover up details.

I saw this comment on a fan site – “When I was at the Mohegan Sun concert, there was someone there interviewing people who were members of Team Jonas. Later, at the M&G, she told us that the 2010 TJ gift was going to be a dvd of the boys and all the fans on the world tour. She had me say why I love the Jonas Brothers and she also had me say “Here’s a look at the Jonas Brothers playing softball on a day off. Go Road dogs!”

That would be interesting, except that what I really want is a CONCERT DVD for the TJ gift. Performances. That is all I want. I can’t really take any more 3D movie style fan footage… :(

and why was no one interviewing, me, cpaig, mememoi and merry at the MS? :)

    Poor Nick… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj3fUO3md5Q

Watch that interview and you can see it’s a cold and not the flu. Thank goodness but I feel terrible for him. It’s obvious his nose is running and his throat hurts. (with the flu you don’t get the snot and stuffed nose you get with a cold)

He looks pretty miserable. I have no idea why he felt he had to do that interview or go shopping, looking at it. I am one who does not believe he and his brothers are controlled like puppets and that he has choices. So I don’t know why he made those choices. Poor thing.

Poor baby… I just want to wrap him in a blanket and tell him to REST.

I want another update. I’m so greedy.

Love this line from an article that “SiblingRevelry” Twitter linked to (THR – “Disney Channel wants more JONAS.”):

“The Jonas brothers are a rare combination of hugely talented and tremendously likable,” the WME-repped Lewis said.”

I know you all read the article, but I just thought this quote was very apropos.
