I’m Glad It’s Your Birthday! [Berfday]

September 16, 2009 by cpaig

new3

Happy Birthday, Nick Jonas!

The big 1-7. I remember that being a really good year.  The pressure of being the fabled 16 is gone, and the stress of being 18 is still to come. Yes, 17 is a very good year .

Here’s to you, our dearest Nick!

May this day be filled with love and laughter, and the days to come full of luck, health, family and friends.

    Happy Birthday, Nick J!

Interesting info on September 16, and Nick J. is the youngest celebrity to be mentioned on the Birthday List.

Awesome factoid: Nick J. shares his birthday with B.B. King! 8)

I LOVE BIRTHDAYS, YAY. I’ll be treating myself to cake later on Nick’s behalf.

Congrats, Nicko!! Not many guys can say they’ve been a worldwide phenomenon by the time they’re 17. (But that’s what’s so amazing about our boys, yes?) :-D

  4. on September 16, 2009 at 1:17 am Sondra

I’ll be with friends celebrating all of our birthdays…so I will throw Nick’s in too. :)

  5. on September 16, 2009 at 8:32 am Laura (VA,USA)

    OK, here’s my problem:
It was easy admit “motherly” affection and admiration of his musicianship when Nick was a “cutie-pie” kid. But lately, every picture I see takes my breath away, and his songwriting is becoming so much more mature, clouding the fact that he is still soooo young.

I do not want to go there, I do not want to be “that girl”, but my mind sometimes gets ahead of me ; ) Know what I mean?!

    • on September 16, 2009 at 8:39 am Elisa

Oh yes, we know what you mean!! :)

    • on September 17, 2009 at 2:03 am Trish

Oh Laura, I am SO with you. I could most definitely BE Nick’s mother and the last few months in particular, well, let’s just say….the boy has really grown up! :)

  6. on September 16, 2009 at 8:38 am Elisa

Happy Birthday to the most amazing boy in the entire world!

One more year and I can stop saying “Please turn 18, Nick”. :) Also, for 4 months I can pretend that I’m just a year older than he is. Then I turn 19 and it’s two years again. Damn it. :P

P.S. LOVE that pic. Looove it. Thanks cpaig!!

  7. on September 16, 2009 at 8:40 am Sondra

Don’t worry about it Laura! I don’t understand the feelings either. They make no sense. I think he is just a very unique boy. I know for me he represents someone who constantly goes for it, and believes in himself and who has these amazing abilities and an amazing personality to match. It’s like it does not really matter how old he is; he’s one of a kind. I find myself looking up to him and that makes no kind of sense at all.

Re the car video – is Demi’s hair really going to be all black as Mitchie? It’s so harsh. Reminds me of my high school hair color. I loved the auburn red in the first movie. Works much better for her.

Also Garbo playing guitar was fun, and Nick really enjoys playing Demi’s music, I’m sure he is proud of it and his work on it! That is cute to see.

I have to admit I feel like the atmosphere around CR2 is kind of nutty and fanatical. I don’t know how they deal with it. I thought they would have more peace and quiet, and privacy while working on this movie. Instead there’s gaggles of girls hanging around every day watching their every move.

    • on September 16, 2009 at 11:09 am Barbara

Re CR2 – I also thought it would be more secluded, but judging from that video and the fact that girls/people are lining up outside of their filming area, and the fact that Joe/Nick go out every other day to buy coffee or whatever…I’m wrong! I guess I should have expected that they wouldn’t really be that secluded this time. They are HUGE stars (just stating the obvious here) and cameras are constantly around them.

I was also swooning over Garbo playing guitar.

And Demi tweeted something a little while back about the difficulty of changing hair color from black to brown (“it was easier going brown to black”, I think she said). It looks like they decided to stick with black? Maybe it was too hard to switch back!

      • on September 16, 2009 at 10:22 pm Sonnnn

yup. It is hard to go lighter. THey have to strip all the color out which destroys the hair. I wish she hadn’t gone quite so dark.

    Happy Birthday, Nick!

  9. on September 16, 2009 at 10:50 am mollyanne

Happy Birthday Nick! I can’t believe he’s 17. Where on earth has the last year gone?!

Thank you cpaig for the post and especially the picture. *sigh*

  10. on September 16, 2009 at 11:05 am Barbara

Adding my happy birthday to Nick J! I also can’t explain why he brings such joy into my life.

  11. on September 16, 2009 at 1:12 pm Monica

Look at that first pic of Nick in the banner (where J and K are screaming in his ears) and look at the post pic. Wow how he has grown! Happy birthday Nicholas!! Much like Sondra, I so look up to that kid.

Way OT and I probably shouldn’t go here and I have been scared to even mention anything about the TS/KW fiasco, but is anyone else SO tired of hearing TS being called “America’s Sweetheart”? Blech… Sorry, but this is the only place where I can’t vent about it…. I’m sure she’s wishing she had a CD coming out soon so she could capitalize on “Unfortunate Incident #2″. EOR.

    • on September 16, 2009 at 7:38 pm DaniLyn85

I keep looking back and forth between those pictures, it blows my mind!

    • on September 16, 2009 at 10:23 pm Sonnnn

Yes, TS definitely came out ahead in the positive publicity aspect here! :) But everyone loved her before too. For some reason she is really attractive to people. (shrug!)

  12. on September 16, 2009 at 1:42 pm Jan

Happy Birthday, Nick! I remember when he was 14!

About TS: It was said on some site that Kanye called her after her appearance on the view and she accepted his apology. I wonder if it was a 27-second phone call or if she hung up on him…. I hope she was just immature last year and that she regrets trying to hang Joe out to dry. I find it difficult to like her although I did have sympathy for her the other night. That wasn’t right what Kanye did.

    • on September 16, 2009 at 3:31 pm Laura (VA,USA)

Seriously, that was just about the rudest thing ever. TS really did deserve her award, and he was just trying to steal her thunder. I enjoy her music, even if she doesn’t always use the best judgement in her personal life. Not everyone can grow up in a fishbowl and be as gracious as the JB :)

    • on September 16, 2009 at 10:24 pm Sonnnn

she was absolutely wronged. Even if she wronged Joe and hurt his reputation, which you can’t go back and fix. It doesn’t mean she deserves what Kanye did to her. Thankfully it doesn’t hurt her reputation, only his…

She should definitely make a public statement about Joe, to attempt to fix the harm she caused.

      • on September 16, 2009 at 10:40 pm mememoi

She did cause a lot of harm…or rather her people did, and I seriously doubt they care. Taylor is probably not that aware of the damage she did to his reputation anymore than she was of what Kanye was going to do to her at the VMAs. But again, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if her people were well aware of it. She’ll continue to reap huge benefits from a relatively brief embarrassment, I wouldn’t feel too bad for her.

If Taylor Swift ever ate her words about the post-Joe debacle, I would be greatly surprised and extremely impressed!!!

See. I am incredibly cynical about just about everyone in pop but the Jonases. :)

    • on September 16, 2009 at 10:27 pm mememoi

I just can’t take the whole thing too seriously…the VMAs are so fakey and blegh. Everyone’s playing characters more than MUSIC nowadays…Kanye just happens to be playing the part of a narcissistic, Puckish d-bag. I feel like I should feel guilty it doesn’t bother me more deeply. But I remain more likely to see him in concert than Taylor Swift. (Based solely on the music…I can see how she is sweet, she just doesn’t speak to me!)

I tend to blame the industry more than the individuals…the public puts more emphasis on personas than the music anyone makes. So you get these increasingly ridiculous personas and behavior to support them, because it’s what the public demands, it sells.

We know more nuances of the Jonas boys and what they put into their music, because we are serious fans, but most of the public sees them as superficial personas as well, and many people can’t see past what they think of them. It’s frustrating to me as a fan…I wonder if it is to the Jonases, too?

Lucky us for knowing there’s so much more to them as a band, and kudos to them for not pandering to the image and just doing their thing. :) Nick J, be proud of THAT on your birthday!! (LOL, had to tie that back in.)

      • on September 16, 2009 at 11:10 pm cpaig

I am so cynical about our culture right now I will make no comment…other than…

        Was Kanye a d*ck – yes
        Is it resolved – yes

do I think it is a big Hollywood orchestration that includes Kanye conveniently having a single and a tour coming up, and both the View and the new Jay Leno show wanting more viewers – heck yes

Not to mention MTV and the VMAs – isn’t if funny that there always seems to be a scandal every year?

is anything for real in La La Land? I think we all know the answer to that question…Take it Demi!

        • on September 16, 2009 at 11:21 pm mememoi

I sometimes like to imagine Nick singing this song. Love it!

        • on September 17, 2009 at 12:31 am mememoi

Oh AND! Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily just pointed out that Kanye & Taylor are both with the William Morris Agency and both personally repped by the same agent – the CEO of the company.

OK, I’m done beating this dead horse, promise.

(FYI, the Boys are with Creative Artists Agency.)

      • on September 17, 2009 at 7:43 am Monica

Amen! You took the words right out of my mouth!! I’m almost positive the Jonases as well as their team get frustrated with the public perception. As much as I cannot stand Perez Hilton, he tweeted the boys a few weeks ago something like -thank you for always being true to yourselves and doing what you want to do- I was shocked to read that from him, but it made me happy to think that even someone like him gets it some of the time.

        • on September 17, 2009 at 11:15 am coolmom823

In my opinion, TS is almost “gifted” at being victimized, And she can always be counted on to make the most of it.

The plus side for me is that now Joe won’t be the “bad boy” who gets mentioned whenever her name comes up. It’ll cut down on my Google Alerts, which I’m all for! :P

  13. on September 16, 2009 at 2:40 pm Anna

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. PRESIDENT!!!! :)

I hope your day is the best ever :)

  14. on September 16, 2009 at 7:35 pm Jan

I just saw on People.com that Nick got the actual piano he wrote “A Little Bit Longer” on for his birthday from his family! He said that he wanted to put a plaque on it (it was in the hotel where they originally stayed for the first Camp Rock.) Instead the family bought it for him! That is so sweet. He said that it is very meaningful to him. He also got a ping-pong table from the film’s production team. Two fitting gifts for Nick J.!

    • on September 16, 2009 at 7:46 pm DaniLyn85

Awww, that’s so sweet! His family is amazing!

    • on September 16, 2009 at 8:01 pm cpaig

That is AWESOME! how thoughtful… almost brings a tear…

    • on September 16, 2009 at 10:25 pm Sonnnn

that’s amazing! a great idea for the guy who has everything! (and doesn’t need any more Ralph Lauren!)

      so cool!

    • on September 18, 2009 at 8:56 pm Elisa

I seriously went “awwwwww” when I read about that… So touching! I can’t believe his family thought of that! What an incredible gift. (I’m sure it was difficult to come up with something as great as last year’s present – Elvis is a tough act to follow ;) )

  15. on September 16, 2009 at 7:42 pm DaniLyn85

Forgive me for taking a moment to pretend he will ever read this. lol

A very Happy 17th Birthday to one of my favorite people! I’m so very proud of all the accomplishments in his 16th year and I’m hoping that his 17th will be even more amazing! We love you so much, thanks for the amazing year. :)

    • on September 17, 2009 at 1:02 am Sonnnn

you know – one of the things I love this blog for is the ability to say things like that, to people who “get it”. It’s just nice to have the things out there sometimes…

I sometimes come here just to post an idea or a thought I had about something Jonas related and I just feel good about having a place to put those feelings.

It was really comforting to me, the meet and greet I had with them in Las Vegas, because I got to tell them something directly about how great they are – I know I didn’t get to say very much but it still felt really good to say the little I said. It’s really not just the kids that get something from the M&Gs. It was really important to me too. I felt like they understood that.

Them understanding was a real blessing to me.

that is incredible. Awwwww. thank you for posting the link!!!!

  17. on September 16, 2009 at 11:15 pm Sonnnn

has anyone actually gotten to “Level 3″ on FFE? Do you think the guys even think about FFE anymore? LOL! the ads on there are so outdated/incorrect, it’s funny.

    • on September 16, 2009 at 11:22 pm cpaig

      Not yet.

I never visit – or I rarely do.

      I will go now…..

      • on September 17, 2009 at 7:10 am Sonnnn

once in a while they have wonderful high-resolution photos that they post that aren’t available anywhere else. Those are a really nice bonus.

    • on September 16, 2009 at 11:24 pm mememoi

No and…not really. LOL. Poor FFE. :-/

      • on September 17, 2009 at 12:55 am Sonnnn

It had potential for being a very cool tool of the future IMO, like a Jonas-designed Facebook…but there’s no reason for it – they should have one central Web site (IMO http://www.jonasbrothers.com) with ALL the info and updates. It’s really confusing with so many places to visit for JB information.

      • on September 17, 2009 at 7:13 am Sonnnn

did they see us talking?! the site is down for upgrading. Ha ha ha!

    • on September 17, 2009 at 2:09 am Trish

That site shuts down my computer. I don’t even attempt to go there anymore.

  18. on September 16, 2009 at 11:44 pm Barbara

Did anyone else call the JB saynow and sing Happy Birthday to Nick??!? I did, twice! Oh my. I know I’ve got OJD bad. I was never like this as a teen or twenty something. I blame it on my changing hormones. The sad thing is I don’t have any kids I can blame it on. LOL!

I called the saynow and sang Happy Birthday pretty traditionally, and then called back about an hour later and sang a funkier, more uptempo variation of Happy Birthday. (Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy, Happy Birthday to you.) Someone sang it to me many years ago – I don’t even know where it came from! And then I didn’t say my name at the end – I’m sure no teen fan would make that mistake. :) I couldn’t resist calling and singing. I’ve never called their Saynow before today. First I order a 2nd copy of LVATT just because it’s signed and because I want to have/hold their signatures, and now this. I’m losing it. I’ve always been so “logical” and all “celebrities are normal people like you and me” and now look at me. LOL!!! :)

    • on September 17, 2009 at 12:57 am Sonnnn

well, no one could call me logical…but I can’t sing a note and I couldn’t punish poor Nick or anyone on the staff having to hear me sing. My own family can’t stand me singing.

And I sing all the time. Ha ha, I’m like Macy Misa!

I did leave Twitters for him, and I “signed” the Web site birthday card from Team Jonas…

I even toasted his future with my GFs at lunch today even though that is pretty strange…I care about his future and I cared about his day and I thought about him a lot, hoping he was enjoying himself and hoping for the very best for him.

    • on September 17, 2009 at 2:09 am Trish

That is a riot, Barbara!!! My singing would have killed the poor boy, and I love him too much to allow that to happen. ;)

    • on September 17, 2009 at 7:52 pm mykidsthinkimweird

That’s it, Barbara – Changing Hormones. I am aging in reverse and that is why I act like a teenager when it comes to the Jonas Brothers. Perimenopause has given me back the hormones of a 16 year old girl. I knew there had to be a good excuse.

      • on September 18, 2009 at 8:04 am Sonnnn

I think this is an excellent theory. Holds water. Yes.

  19. on September 17, 2009 at 2:15 am Trish

Well, thanks to my long hectic workday, I didn’t make it on here before midnight to wish our dear boy…err, young man, a HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY!!! Oh my, where has the time gone?! Seems like yesterday he was just a baby, and now he is so grown, so mature…*sniff*

Nick. You make the world a better place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. :)

  20. on September 17, 2009 at 8:30 am Sonnnn

Well…FFE is up again, looks no different, and now doesn’t load for me. Big improvements! LOL!
