Getting to Know You! [Open]

August 25, 2009 by coolmom823

OUT22864506

Hey, hey Revelers!

We’ve been tickled pink lately to have had some new friends dropping by, and it’s been mentioned that we haven’t had a roll-call, tell-what-you-feel-comfortable-telling-about-you-and-your-Jonas-history thread in a while.  So, because we aim to please, here it is!

Chat at will, after the jump!

Well, I’ll start the ball rolling!

I am, at 46 (since this past Sunday! Woot!) If not the Oldest Living, Jonas Fan not related to them by blood or marriage, certainly one of them!

I live in Michigan, with my hubby and two daughters, 6 and 9, known around these parts as cooldad, Sugar and Spice, respectively. My hubby runs a professional theatre co. and I stay-at-home, though that may change some this year, as Sugar will be in school all day.

I came to Jonas Love via my kids, who fell in love with the boys on Disney Channel. Because I’m choosy about my kid’s musical choices, I did my own research, heard the music, saw the Bonus Jonas Edition Jonas Brothers Live Performance DVD, and fell in love myself.

Looking for information about Kevin (my first and truest Jonas Love, though I adore them all) I stumbled onto this fantastic blog, long about May 2008. I couldn’t get enough, mememoi and cpaig couldn’t shut me up, and it’s been a party ever since! :D

If anyone has questions, I’ll answer them happily.

WOOT! Thanks for the post coolmom! I’ll comment when I get back to work :)

GAH! How do you expect me to be anything even close to eloquent with that pic up there!?!? :D

    I will try…

I’m 33 and MM (currently on blog-cation) is my little sister.

She was a JB fan before me – since late 2006/ early 2007, and brought them to my attention (really thanks to LBF – Little Big Fan, aka Mememoi’s daughter – now 6) who was a toddler and loved to watch Disney Channel.

I was NOT AT ALL INTERESTED – at first – but came around after she continued to send me YouTube vids, insist on playing their music in my car, and forcing me to watch the Miss Teen USA pageant.

I got “Jonas Brothers” so I could argue with her AGAINST them from a position of knowledge. I was DONE before the end of my first listen to “Goodnight & Goodbye.”

The rest is really history, but we became totally consumed with JB instant messaging each other links, videos, etc.

That habit became this blog on April 1, 2008.

I am a music superfan and love live music of all kinds. Good or bad, the investment in going to see live music is always worth it!

MM and I go to TONS of shows, both JB and otherwise, and both feel like JB have opened our eyes to the true joys of Pop music – and much much more – not to speak for her, she is more than able to do that for herself.

We live smack dab in the middle of the Mid-Atlantic.

    Hoagie and a Coke, anyone?

(I will speak for her here…)

We don’t believe that there is any pedigree attached to how long you have been a JB fan, or how many shows you’ve been to. It is all about your love of JB, and love of music – whether it is old and cherished or brand spanking new.

We love to talk about it, and hear what you have to say – even if you disagree (as long as you are respectful to other people on the blog).

    All are welcome!

Hi, I’m Lisa, and I am a Jonas addict.

I am a 40-year -old mother of one daughter, referred to here as DD. DD introduced me to the Jonas Brothers via Disney Channel. I could copy and paste pieces of coolmom’s story at this point. Being a concerned parent, I researched the brothers and the more I learned, the more I fell in love with them. Being the five-year-old she was at the time, DD asked me to choose a favorite (she is a Joe girl). I defaulted to Kevin, since he was the only one who was legal at the time. You know what? My first choice was the right choice. I love them all, but Kevin stole my heart with his blue “mini-pigs” in the first live chat. Any cute boy who could successfully rock a shawl/tablecloth was more than worthy of my adoration. I just wanted to take him home and bake him cookies. And thus, I became a devoted Kevin fanlady. In my never-ending quest to learn more, more, more about my new favorite curly-haired cutie and his amazing family, I came across this blog. I have been here ever since.

I saw my first Jonas Brothers show last Friday night. I sang every word to every song, without shame. I didn’t SQUEEEE!! I did smile proudly, more than a little misty-eyed. I couldn’t love these boys more if they were my own family. They are talented, smart, and such special people who are sharing their gifts with the world, trying to make it a better place.

My husband, DH, still doesn’t get it. But that’s okay. I have all of the friends I have met here to share my Jonas love with and that makes me happy.

I am grateful to cpaig and mememoi for creating this space and allowing us to share our love and appreciation for these boys and their band in an intelligent, respectful way.

    Superfans unite!

YES! “Jump in, jump out! Introduce yourself!” (I believe that this is a quote from the children’s show Gula-Gula Island? Correct me if I’m wrong :D ) Hey everybody!

My name is Emily, age 17, aka Emily Paige, Paige being my middle name, which I use frequently as my last name (especially in the acting world.) Wisniewski, my actual last name, is difficult to spell and pronounce. (Its Wiz-ness-key)

I was brought into the Jonasrealm by accident, and what I see as fate (fate in which I one-hundred-percent believe in).

One day, October 8th, 2007 to be exactly, I was cruising iTunes on a mission to download Ashley Tisdale’s cover of “Kiss the Girl” on the Little Mermaid Anniversary Soundtrack. “Album only?!” I lamented. “What am I going to do with all these Little Mermaid songs?” Undeterred by this, however, I bought the soundtrack, uploaded it to my iPod and shoved it into my iHome.

That’s when I heard it. Poor Unfortunate Souls. Listening, I discovered 3 brothers from New Jersey, Kevin, Nick, and Joe.

After I had fallen in love with that song, I when right back down to the good ol’ iTunes and bought Its About Time. And the rest is history.

The major Jonas-events in my life are:
-Being inspired through my darkest hour (Check out FriendBlogs > Emily Paige’s Blog to read more)
-From the nose-bleeds to Front-Row seats at the When You Look Me in the Eyes Tour (fate.)
-Waiting 72 hours in the rain for the TODAY show (in detail in the blog)
    -7/23 – 7/24. World Tour Weekend.

    I make photo-edits here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/29893102@N02/

I make music videos like this:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz8IBHG1yZs

    Random:
-I’m a digital media triple-threat: Audio, video, and photos. (I write too)

-I’m a Gemini and although I am the most fact-based-scientific-evidence-loving person you will ever meet, I find truth in Astrology. I believe in things I have seen for myself.

-I’m the first to raise my hand and help someone.

-I’m a tradgic optomist. Even in the most hopeless of situations, I have a habit of milling over ways to work it out.

    -I ALWAYS work it out.

-If I could define myself in three words it would be: Passionate, Enthusiastic, and Fearless

-I cannot drive without taking off my shoe and playing my iPod

-As a kindergartener, I wanted to be a Palentologist when I grew up, and could tell you ANYTHING about dinosaurs.

-I have never lost a debate. Ever.

-The way to my heart is through making me laugh, music, and Italian food. (and JONAS BROTHERS!)

    That’s me!

This is SO awesome, ladies! Glad to refresh some stories for myself, and to hear some for the first time. Thanks for sharing, everybody!

Aren’t we glad to have a place to revel together? :D ♥

totally! I can talk about Jonas without all the SQUEE!

  6. on August 25, 2009 at 3:59 pm chelswh

Sibling Revelry has been on my favorites bar for the past month or so. This post seems as good as any to introduce myself! :)

So, my name is Chelsea. I’m 18 and heading off to college at the end of this week. (AHHH!)

The first time I saw a picture of the Jonas Brothers was in the beginning of 2007. I thought Nick was *cough* unattractive and I couldn’t tell the difference between Joe and Kevin. I thought they were posers and fake because they covered “Year 3000″ and “What I Go To School For” by Busted. It was fine with me cause I had Orlando Bloom to put on my wall.

My turning point was some time after the Baby Bottle Pop commercials came on. That dang song got stuck in my head and I’ll be darned by the time it left, I was addicted.

I saw them for the first time in concert in July of 2007 at the Quick Chek Balloon Festival in NJ… FOR FREE. It was probably 98* and my mom spent the whole thing trying to pour water on my brother and I so we wouldn’t pass out. When I later realized that was the best time I had had in awhile, I knew I was in love.

Here I am now two years later. I’ve seen them four times in concert. Every cent I encounter goes towards my annual splurge on tickets. :P I’m a Nick girl, but if I was to be really honest, I have a hard time choosing. (As evidenced in all notebooks for school in the past two years.)

Ok. I’ve talked your ears (eyes?) off but I figured I would join the foray. It’s harder than it should be to find people who will respect the Jonas music and culture.

    Chelsea

        :)

        • on August 26, 2009 at 9:57 am chelswh

          :-D Thank you.

Is it? Lol. Well, in like ten years you can expect a JB song named after me… not. ;)

          • on August 26, 2009 at 12:29 pm Sonnnn

Yup – Elvis Costello. Except that Chelsea is a place in the UK I believe. But still – it counts. :)

I always think about Caroline Buckman on stage when I hear Sweet Caroline now.

No songs about Sondra that I know of, other than Mambo #5 LOL! and that is actually Sandra, though it is pronounced as my name is.

  8. on August 25, 2009 at 4:30 pm mollyanne

    First off, welcome Chelsea!

I’m Molly (@mollyanne1) and I just turned 23 in May. Originally from up near Chicago, I moved to Indianapolis when I finished school. During my senior year of school, I was downloading music and I thought, heck, I’ll type their names in the search and see what I find. I ended up downloading Hello Beautiful and When You Look Me in the Eyes. I loved both songs, but it never really got past that. Up until May of last year, I really knew nothing about them. When I finished school and moved down here, I got my own apartment and was reveling in the fact that I had a tv that I could watch whatever I wanted on, whenever I wanted. In college there was hardly any time for tv, plus I had roommates. Rarely watched tv. So anyway, I got home from work one Friday and was flipping through channels (I worked retail so this was around 10:15 pm) and I came across the Burnin’ Up video on the DC. I was intrigued. I saw commercials for various other JB things (Living the Dream, Camp Rock) and I watched those. Sometime in June, I went to this record store in the mall and bought the Jonas Brothers cd with the DVD. I watched the concert on the DVD that night and I was HOOKED on those three boys. It didn’t take long to become a devoted Joe-girl :) ALthough those here know that I love all three of them SO much. Went to see them when they came to Indy last summer then saw them twice on the world tour.

I found this little blog sometime around Sept of last year probably and de-lurked in November. Been here ever since. Thanks again to MM and Cpaig for creating it- the people I’ve met here are irreplaceable :)

    • on August 25, 2009 at 4:33 pm mollyanne

Forgot to add, no hubby or kids, just a boyfriend of nearly 5 years who STILL doesn’t get it, bless his heart :) Although he puts up with my inner fangirl with patience (most of the time) and understanding (only sometimes). HA!

    • on August 25, 2009 at 7:02 pm coolmom823

Cool Molly, I don’t think I’d ever gotten the story all at once! Thanks. :D

    • on August 26, 2009 at 7:53 am merry27

Molly I still get great joy over having a tv all to myself..nothing like it.
also you have been with your bf for 5 years-that’s sweet.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 9:30 am mollyanne

:) I still cannot believe how quickly 4 years of college went by. So unbelievable.

        Where has the time gone?!?!

        • on August 26, 2009 at 12:30 pm Sonnnn

Damned if I know. My baby just turned 6.

  9. on August 25, 2009 at 5:09 pm Sonnnn

I’m Sondra and I grew up in New Jersey, attended UMass and moved to Florida. I’m married and we have a daughter (8) and a son (6).

I love the Jonas Brothers and many of the people associated with them, and their family. I’ve followed them closely for 2 years. I love to collect things they are involved in – music, magazines, books, etc. etc.

I found them on the Disney Channel (which I watched due to my kids), thought Joe was adorable and liked the song SOS a lot. I bought a few of their songs on iTunes (Hold On was a big favorite), enjoyed them at the Hannah Montana show (and was hugely impressed with Nick) and asked for the Bonus Jonas CD/DVD for Hanukkah 2007.

I truly am fond of all three brothers but I am especially attached to Joe for his big heart, openness, beautiful voice, craziness and his affection for others; and to Nick for his musical prodigy, generosity, ambition, determination and drive. I admire Kevin for being sweet and kind.

I admire the brothers for their deep faith and how they follow and live their faith. This is really inspiring to me as a spiritual person and as a mom. I deeply admire the Jonas parents.

I also am a big fan of their back up band; I think those guys are very mature, sweet, kind and generous.

I worked in desktop publishing and marketing before the kids. For the last 3.5 years I have run my own eBay store (with 400-700 items at any one time), specializing in clothing and accessories.

I am a Phillies phanatic, a baseball and football fan, and love to read books and magazines. I am interested in current events, theology and history. I like to take photographs and video and edit them.

I am a big fan of Dennis Prager, Dr. Laura, Damian Lewis, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Rooney to name just a few. I like a lot of different kinds of music, movies and TV shows.

I’m Jewish and I have braces (ha!) that are due to come off in December, when I will get a fixed retainer on the bottom and a nighttime retainer on top! :) I did not have (or need) braces as a kid.

I have a birthday coming up on Saturday. My kids like the Jonas Brothers but it’s all my fault.

This year I really went crazy. I made my husband take our family to Nashville to see them at the Ryman, and after that I couldn’t get enough of the traveling and Jonas Brothers combination. We’ve now gone to Las Vegas as well. We had a M&G in Vegas as well as a spontaneous encounter with Jack, Ryan and Garbo and I can’t stop smiling whenever I think of the experiences.

The Jonas Brothers have been so much fun for me and have done a lot of good for me, even other than their music. It sounds unusual but it’s very true. I really needed the spark I found in them. I like them so much and I especially like that they really deserve it. They are great people and that is my favorite thing about them.

I also talk a lot. A LOT. Fair warning.

    • on August 25, 2009 at 7:03 pm coolmom823

This is so cool Sondra, I learned things I didn’t know! Thanks! :D

      • on August 25, 2009 at 8:11 pm Sonnnn

        oh thank you… :)

    • on August 25, 2009 at 9:10 pm Emily Paige

Yeah-ya! Go Phillies! (Huge Phightin’ Phils Phan, here!)

      • on August 25, 2009 at 10:04 pm Sonnnn

we have a lot in common. :)

    • on August 26, 2009 at 7:05 am merry27

you forgot to add that you are our shopping expert..anything JB related Sondra can track it down :)

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:33 am Sonnnn

I put it the way you put it, which I just loved, about how I am a “collector.” But yeah, I do consider myself a pretty good shopping expert. I think that’s why I enjoy my ebay career so much…

    • on August 26, 2009 at 5:39 pm gityofunon

Ah, as I’m likely to forget, I’ll wish you happy birthday now, Sondra!

(And I find your loquaciousness very endearing and informative.)

      • on August 27, 2009 at 1:39 am Sonnnn

awwww, thank you SO much. for the birthday wishes and the tolerance of my talkativeness.

  10. on August 25, 2009 at 6:25 pm Elisa

Oh, I love this idea! It’s always nice to get to know more about you all. Love everyone’s stories!

Well, I’m Elisa from Finland. I’m 18 years old and I’ll start my University studies in a couple of weeks. I’m really nervous but also really excited because I’ll get to study English, which is my biggest passion.

I have been a JB fan for about a year now. I’m ashamed to admit that I was a bit of a hater before I turned into a superfan. This was because I didn’t really know anything about the boys, hadn’t heard any of their songs and just… had the wrong idea. I had all the common misconceptions: I thought they were just another Disney band who didn’t really have any musical talent, sang songs that other people had written for them and whose main job was to look good. (Even though at the time I didn’t even think that they were cute – I remember talking about them with my friends and saying that “the youngest one is kind of cute… but it’s just because he’s so young” and the things I said about Kevin & Joe are not something that I’m even going to repeat! I hadn’t even seen that many pictures about them – for some reason I just didn’t like them. It was ridiculous.)

Well, about a year ago I was watching a random YouTube video and I loved the song that was playing in the background, “When You Look Me In The Eyes”. Imagine my shock when I found out that it was actually a Jonas Brothers song! I couldn’t believe it. “THIS is the kind of music they play?” I was certain that I would just like that one song, but was curious (and mostly was just starting to freak out and wanted to prove to myself that I really did hate their music) so I searched for their other songs on YouTube. Oh boy… I loved every single one of the songs I heard. This was around the time when ALBL had just come out so all the new songs were on YT already… And when I got to Lovebug… I was done. I had no choice but to admit my defeat and face the fact that not only did I like their music, I freaking LOVED it. I couldn’t get Lovebug out of my head for days and immediately bought the Jonas Brothers cd and ALBL. And I became absolutely obsessed with those albums… I couldn’t wait to get out of school so I could just go home and listen to them. First it was all about the music (and I make sure to tell this to everyone who thinks that I just like them because they’re “cute”. It was the music that I fell in love with first… My appreciation for the Boys’ looks came a little later ;) ) but pretty soon I wanted to find out more about these guys so I searched for their videos on YT and after watching some of the classics (The Nick J Show, for example) I was completely hooked on those three boys I had thought I hated. They were funny, sweet, talented and – I finally admitted it – gorgeous. And I was very excited to find out that they wrote their own music and played their own instruments.

So, in a matter of weeks I went from a hater to a die-hard fan. I started out as a Nick girl, fell in love with Joe pretty soon (I blame the Joe Jonas – Funny Moments videos, parts 1-250) and am currently completely obsessed with Nick again… But I love them both so much that I am really glad I don’t have to choose between them. :) And of course I completely adore Kevin, too, now more than ever… He has made me fall in love with him this year!

I found this blog in… I think it was October or November – I was actually searching for a JB shirt and somehow ended up here. (The first post I read was titled “Flaunt Your Jonas Love” and I absolutely loved it…) And before I knew it, I was checking the blog everyday to see what was new and to read everyone’s comments. I’m so happy I found this place because back then I couldn’t talk about JB to anyone – all my friends either hated them or had no idea who they were. So it was great to find a place where I could talk about their music and all things Jonas, really.

Recently the situation with my friends has improved slightly, because I have managed to get my two best friends to listen to the Boys’ music and they actually like some of their songs (WW3, Black Keys & Fly With Me have been added to their iPods so far) and they’re both coming to London with me to see JB in November… but I still wouldn’t know what to do without all of you and this blog because the JB discussions I have with my friends are still rather one-sided. :P Plus everyone here is just pretty damn awesome!

One more thing you need to know about me: I write ridiculously long comments sometimes. This one’s a case in point.

    • on August 25, 2009 at 7:07 pm coolmom823

Elisa I’m so excited for you starting University, I remember when you were uber-nervous about the exams! ;)

Will you live at home or at the University? If you’ve already told us all this before, my bad, I’m beginning to suffer from CRS (Can’t Remember Sh*t) in my old age. It stinks!

I’m also REALLY excited to hear what you and your friends think about seeing JB live. I know how much you will love it, but I’m betting they will be a lot more converted afterwards! :D

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:25 pm Elisa

LOL, CRS – that’s hilarious! :D I too seem to suffer from that occasionally..

I’m going to live at home, at least for the first year… The University is a 20-minute drive away so it’s convenient. I’m probably going to get my own place from the town next year, but I’m not in a hurry to move out right away! (I don’t know what my mom’s going to do when her “baby” moves out… lol)

    • on August 26, 2009 at 7:46 am merry27

you know your friends will be totally hooked after the concerts..
      I love your long comments!

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:34 pm Elisa

Haha, I’m glad you do! :)

And I really hope they will… They’re only coming to one of the shows, I’ll go alone to the other one (yikes). After the first show they’ll probably be totally bummed that they don’t have tickets to the other one. ;)

    • on August 26, 2009 at 5:44 pm gityofunon

Oo, I love your story! My JB story is a bit similar. I remember when I first found this blog and realized you were from Finland, I was like, “Wow, I think I may have underestimated the Jonas Brothers.”

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:43 pm Elisa

        Thanks Gity!

JB are finally starting to make it here (LVaTT debuted at #15, which was a pleasant surprise to me!) and I’m so happy for them… When they’re as huge here as they are in the US, I’ll be able to say that I was one of the first Finnish fans ;) Maybe on their next world tour they’ll come here!

Here’s something cute, Nick was dishing the wedding dirt on Kevin yesterday:

    • on August 26, 2009 at 8:33 am Sonnnn

you might recall me mentioning Kevin getting married in January…

      ;)

    • on August 26, 2009 at 5:47 pm gityofunon

My gut says Kevin will end up picking Joe as best man. Not sure what I’m basing that on, though.

I have to agree. I think it will be Joe and I’m betting on a destination wedding.

        • on August 27, 2009 at 1:41 am Sonnnn

really? I’m thinking it will be in Jersey near Danielle’s family’s home. But it would certainly be possible to fly her entire posse wherever they hold the wedding. I just keep imagining it near her home.

Honeymoon? Not sure if they will have time. I think they will get married durng a short break from JONAS and then take a honeymoon at a later date when JONAS is wrapped.

Hi! I’m Jan, and I have to be the oldest fan on here. I’ll be 58 in October! I live in upstate NY and am a retired kindergarten teacher. I taught kindergarten for 31 years and first grade for my first 3 years teaching. I retired in June 2007 and spent a bit of time that summer reading and watching TV. In August 2007 I read an article in People magazine about Nick Jonas coping with diabetes. It mentioned that the Jonas Brothers had been on Hannah Montana. That same night they were showing that episode on TV. I watched it and knew I had to learn more about the boys. I started surfing the web and found videos of their concerts and the ones that they made. I found the boys humorous, talented, and intelligent. I consider the Jonas Brothers my retirement hobby.
I don’t mention my infatuation with the Jonas Brothers too much to my friends but a few know about it. I have all of their albums except It’s About Time. I have magazines about them that I bought in the grocery store. (Life Story, Rolling Stone, etc.) I cut out articles in other magazines and newspapers. My sister asked me if they remind me of the Beatles. We were Beatlemaniacs back in 1964. I have to admit it is a bit like that although I have a more maternal attitude towards JB than I did the Beatles.
I admire the Jonas family’s faith and talent. Nick is my favorite because I am so impressed with how talented, articulate, funny, and intelligent he is. I don’t know if I’ll be around to vote for him in 2040 (although my father is 97 and still lives at home with my sister and me so you never know). If I am alive and Nick runs, I’d vote for him!

That’s awesome Jan! I hope you’ll be sporting a Nick J. for President button! ;)

    • on August 25, 2009 at 8:13 pm Sonnnn

Jan you will most certainly be around. Personally I am a little nervous to see Joe at 40. LOL!

well the odds seem pretty good Jan if your Dad is 97! awesome!

  13. on August 25, 2009 at 8:34 pm Netter

This is my de-lurking, I suppose. I found this site — which has quickly become my favorite Jonas site — through the twitter post from JT about your M.E.N. recaps. I’m so happy that I clicked on the link that day because it led me to you lovely fans who have interesting things to say about the world of Jonas with a minimum of SQUEEE.

I’m a newcomer to the Jonas fan family, but I fell hard. In December, I was at Target looking for a new CD that I could play during my 2.5 hour drive back home from a business trip. Because of my job, I’m fairly in tune with who the up and comers in the tween/teen scene, even if I don’t know their work personally (they produce a ton of material and I can’t always watch/listen to it all). After an especially long day, a new CD to listen to on the ride home is a sweet treat. That day, I decided it was time to better understand the whole JB craze thing, so I picked up ALBL. Let’s just say that the CD was all I needed to open my eyes and get hooked on this band of brothers from NJ. I think I listened to “Can’t Have You” and “Video Girl” about 10 times on that drive. A week later, I picked up “Jonas Brothers” and started listening to that album religiously as well. Soon, I was digging up the old YouTube videos, scouring the fan sites and learning as much as I could about the brothers. A poster of the trio even found it’s way onto the wall of my cubicle at the office. And then I paid way too much for It’s About Time on ebay. Money well spent, by the way…

The intensity level of my appreciation for their music and the family increased dramatically in February — with the release of the 3D movie and all of their funny, sensitive and amazing media appearances that month. Loved, loved them on SNL. I’m a 30ish, single woman in NYC and I saw the movie in the theater three times…by myself (yeah, not too cool for most of my friends to go to a theater with screaming fans…but I loved every minute of it). And, I think the one action that solidified my unabashed appreciation for the brothers and family as good, inspiring people is a photo that leaked out of Joe attending church while on vacation in Australia. I know that seems like such a strange thing…but to me, for a 19 year old boy on vacation to attend church without his parents around shows that it’s something that he takes seriously and is a true part of who he is and what he stands for. I was seriously so impressed.

Since then, I’ve been experiencing the thrill of a series of Jonas firsts: first time an album came out as a fan, the first Rolling Stone cover as a fan, the first time they are on tour while I’m a fan, first live concert (!!), first LIVE live chat, and so many more. I am so impressed by their live shows — I went to shows in NJ and LA and just bought tickets to CT. I just wish I could go back in time and tell my 2007 self who attended Jingle Ball to pay attention to the last act of the night! I have vague memories of Joe on top of a piano, but had I been a fan, I know that night would be forever engraved in my memory. Alas — I have enjoyed attending several shows since then and am looking forward to many more!

Thanks for a creating a fun community for fans — looking forward to participating in the dialog. Peace, Love, Jonas!

  14. on August 25, 2009 at 9:12 pm Stephanie

    Hi,
I’m Stephanie, I’m 24, almost 25 and I like long walks on the beach…oops wrong intro.

Anyways I’ve always liked watching Family Channel (the crappy Canadian version of Disney Channel), and watched the Jonas episode of Hannah Montana. I was instantly hooked. I followed for little while, and then they came to Toronto.

It was just over a year ago that I got my first live look of the boys. It was live@much, July 3rd 2008. I went downtown at 8 in the morning, which for me is actually bed time ( I work overnights). The lineup was insane. The boys didn’t actually come on until 6ish. It was a very long wait. Especially without a bathroom break. But I digress. There was much fan singing and excitement. Oh and pushing. Always pushing. I hadn’t managed to get tickets to see them for the opening show of BU. It was sold out. Also it was my most disliked venue. So there’s that.

Then my bestfriend and ebay came into the picture. I was looking at tour dates and saw that they’d be playing Darien Lake. I was thrilled. I bought a lawn seat and was fully willing to take the six hour bus ride across the border. (I don’t drive). But as my friend is an avid camper, I managed to convince her to take a trip with me. I love her.

So as we’re driving around in what must be the middle of nowhere. All of a sudden there was this freak hail storm. All I could think was, crap. There goes the outdoor concert. Apparently mother nature loves the Jonas Brothers. They sky completely cleared for the concert. It rained after though. But I was ok with that.

Fast forward to a year later and I’m literally bouncing in my seat waiting for this Sunday to come. I’m going with two of my guy friends. One of whom loves them and the other just loves pop in general. Both went to see JB3DCE with me on opening day. Greatest boys ever! Both my friends and the JBs.

And I think I’ve rambled enough about my Jonas experiences. Though they thing I will probably always remember was standing at the Amphitheatre in Darien Lake for 5 hours with a torn ligament in my ankle. But It was still the greatest day ever.

    Stephanie

Thanks Stephanie, I would love to hear all about your concert and what your guy friends think! :D

haha Stephinie..I love your first line.
      great story too!! :)

  15. on August 25, 2009 at 9:15 pm Barbara

Welcome Netter! Ooh I am so excited by all these “delurkings!”

I guess I should tell my story – maybe I’ll edit so it’s not too long.

Some background about me. I am 40 single – no kids. Never was a big fan of popstars. Never had posters up on my wall of celebrities. Went to very few concerts in my life. The ones I went to were small, Christian artists. Don’t have an Ipod, don’t have that many CDs (have mostly Christian and classical). Not a big “rock music” fan, in general. All that to say, my obsession with JB is pretty unusual for me, and I certainly don’t fit the ‘target’ demographic. :) (But then of us here don’t!)

First heard about JB in fall of 2007 because I’m a big fan of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS). That season there was a celebrity I just loved, Sabrina Bryan. I didn’t know her before DWTS, but I loved watching her dance. She is/was in Disney’s Cheetah Girls, and when she was voted off, I started watching all these YouTube videos about her and then got on a message board about her. Someone on the message board mentioned JB and I saw their pic. Not immediately impressed by their looks (LOL). Then I saw a poster of them at the school where I work (actually at another campus, that I rarely visited.) And then they were on DWTS in the spring of 2008. I knew little about them, except that fans loved them. I thought surely they must have awesome voices for everyone to love them so, but I wasn’t that impressed with them. (Sorry! It was the Aha ‘Take on me’ performance..)

“Fast forward” to June. In June I was watching Disney Channel in anticipation of ads about the Cheetah Girls’ movie coming out in August 2008. They had ads for Camp Rock. It looked like a cute story, cute movie. I think I had also seen a poster of JB again, and I decided to check them out on Wikipedia. I think I had heard somewhere (!??!) that their father was a pastor and that they were Christians. That intrigued me. I saw that they wore purity rings (which impressed me). So I decided to tape and watch CR. I enjoyed it (especially Joe, but all 3 of them) and then watched part of the premiere of the Burnin’ Up video before my VCR cut it off part way through. I went to watch the rest of it on youtube and was immediately hooked. I couldn’t get over Joe’s line at the end (“But I can’t grow a mustache”) and stayed up until 4 a.m. that night watching youtube videos of JB. I found them to be sweet and hilarious. For the next several weeks, I spent hours watching all the youtube videos I could find of JB. When You Look Me in the Eyes was also an early favorite song.

At some point in July, I think, I googled something about Kevin Jonas Senior, and found Sibling Revelry! I loved it immediately and spent a bit of time reading all the back posts. I think I delurked in September? Now I’m almost as addicted to SR and you all as I am to JB. Last August I bought the JB self-titled CD and concert DVD and ALBL. Went to 3D movie in February by myself and made a friend, who joined me this past weekend for my first ever JB concerts (2 in a row!) I love their music, but I especially love LVaTT. I think I’m still partial to the slower songs.

When people ask me who my favorite is, I usually hesitate because I’m not sure. I usually decide on Joe because he’s sweet, funny, gorgeous, has a smooth voice. But then there’s Nick who is so serious like me. (I’m not as determined and driven as Nick, but I do tend to be too serious and literal for my own good, so I identify with him in that.) And Nick has gotten SO attractive in the last year. Kevin is so sweet and kind that I find myself really appreciating him, and have also found him very attractive in the last year. :) I love how all 3 support each other so much, and like flamom, I love how they are all so family and faith oriented. I really admire and respect Kevin & Denise Jonas. I love the band.

I was telling my “JB friend” (who I met at the 3D movie) how much I appreciated their character. I can like music without liking the singer/musicians, but for me to be a big fan of the musicians, I have to like and respect them as people, ie their character. In JB’s case, I love everything about them- their music and who they are. They are the total package. As I said in the beginning, it’s unusual for me to be so obsessed with musicians. I’m not a celebrity stalker/obsesser. But JB have changed that for me, at least in their case. :)

Should we have a contest to see who can write the longest bio? LOL!!

        • on August 26, 2009 at 6:16 pm gityofunon

I agree with merry; these stories are too wonderful to be too long.

(Btw, I also developed a JB Youtube video addiction when I started liking them too. I would come home from work around six and keep watching until around midnight. The first two nights I think I stayed up until around 3 a.m., which was a poor decision since I leave for work four and a half hours later!)

  16. on August 25, 2009 at 10:05 pm tlatzotzontli

Real cool idea! So nice to be introduced to new people and learn some cool tidbits about others who I’ve been chatting for a year now!

My name is Karla, aka tlatz (abbreviated version of my screen name) and I live in Northern California (about an hour north of Sacramento). I graduated from college last year, where I majored in music industry and minored in journalism. I’ve been involved with college/community radio for about 5 years and love finding out about new music. I mostly listen to indie rock and bands that most people have never heard of (follow me on twitter, if you want to learn about those bands! hehe :) http://www.twitter.com/tlatzotzontli). I first heard about JB in 2006 or 2007, whenever “Year 3000″ started playing on Disney Channel.

Seeing as how,I just listened to indie bands, I thought JB was another manufactured band and Disney’s attempt to jump into the pop punk scene. My niece (who is 9 now) was a fan of “SOS” but she didn’t know much about JB so she never really told me much about them. It wasn’t until last year that I heard “Burnin’ Up” and watched Camp Rock that I was intrigued by JB and gave their music an honest chance. I liked “Burnin’ Up” and started doing research. I was impressed by their music influences (especially Elvis Costello) and that they were fans of bands that I liked (example: Band of Horses and Justice). Once I bought the JB CDs, I shared with my niece and kind of got her hooked for real (even though technically, she was a fan before me).

Sometime in June or July of ‘08 I found this blog and it is my first stop for Jonas news. I don’t have time to keep up with all that is going on in the world of indie music AND popular music, so I just come straight here for JB news. And that’s really all I need. Most other pop artists right now don’t interest me.

And I guess this is the perfect place to officially announce my new job. Those who already follow me on Twitter, have probably seen me talk about moving to San Francisco. The reason for that, is that I will be working at the new Walt Disney Family Museum! Kind of fitting. The museum will open in October and focus more on Walt’s life and early artwork rather than the newer Disney movies. So it should be fun! I start training tomorrow! I’m just starting in a customer service job right now, but hopefully I can move up to do event planning or pr. The museum plans to have a lot of cool live music events and guest lectures. :D

    • on August 25, 2009 at 10:11 pm coolmom823

How cool is that tlatz! So happy for you, sounds like a really interesting place to work, and San Francisco is such a fabulous city! Congrats!!! :D

  18. on August 25, 2009 at 11:00 pm lemming5fe

This is so much fun, reading everyone’s stories. :)

I’m Becca, 24, from Pittsburgh. I’m just about to start my Master’s in Library Science so someday I can be a school librarian. I love young adult books, Disney, kids’ shows, so it’s really no surprise that I wound up loving the Jonas Brothers, but it also can make it harder to defend their musician credentials to people who know me.

I first fell for the JoBros late spring 2008. I vaguely knew who they were, and then they had promos every five seconds on the Disney Channel for Living the Dream, and I loved the flips and bits I saw, but still mostly ignored them. Then I had a dream featuring the three brothers (without knowing anything about them – it was very inaccurate ;) ), so the next morning I figured I should actually learn who they were. I searched YouTube and Wikipedia and found that I totally loved their music, and was very pleased to find out they were Christians. Their faith is definitely one of the things I love most about them, and I think they do a fantastic job of living their faith boldly without being in a Christian band. Plus, it’s one of my main selling points when I talk to my family and friends about them.

My first JoBros show was last August, and it was one of the most stressful things I’ve done. I didn’t get my tickets til about four hours before the concert, and I way overpaid for them, but it was all oh so worth it. We were close, on Nick-side, and my infatuation seriously ratcheted up then (if that’s possible). For my second concert, I got my tickets as soon as they were on sale to avoid the stress, and they were great – I was right next to the catwalk, and I think I just spent the night with an idiot grin on my face. Not only do they put on an amazing show, but it is remarkable that they manage to be even more gorgeous in person. :)

I found Sibling Revelry early last summer, and it is such a wonderful haven. It’s the place I go for any Jonas news, and the community of ladies here is amazing – I don’t talk much, but I absolutely love it here!

Emily Paige, to answer your question about Joe’s ring – it’s from Tiffany’s.

    http://jonasfashion.com/Guides/Joe/ring3.php

    It’s called the Atlas ring.

    http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP00070&mcat=148208&cid=288176

There’s one in sterling that is very reasonable…(hmmm).

I think Kevin’s is from Tiffany’s as well. They seem to prefer Tiffany’s and David Yurman as far as baubles go. ;)

That looks like the style, but I’m pretty sure that Kevin’s is platinum. :)

  20. on August 26, 2009 at 3:26 am lenzmom

I’m Shelley, 42, from Washington State (I live about 40 miles North of Portland, Oregon on I-5). I went to UW in Seattle and got a degree in English Language and Literature. I have worked full-time in our local Drug Task Force as an investigative assistant for the last 16 years. I’ve been married for nearly 20 years and have 2 sons, 10 & 8 years old. My Jonas Journey started after I saw Camp Rock on the Disney Channel last summer. The kids & I just happened to be at my sister’s for the premiere and caught it there (we didn’t have a satellite dish yet). The next day I started doing some internet mining on the Jonas Brothers and was hooked! I started out a Joe fan, grew more and more impressed by Nick, and have been surprised at how proud of and protective I feel toward Kevin. I don’t recall exactly when I found SR (I think it was around Aug/Sept. of last year), but it has become such a regular part of my life, I can’t imagine when I didn’t check it daily. I love the ladies here and the opportunity to share the fascination and love we all have for JB from our WDT perspective. My DH doesn’t get it, but he indulges me. My boys really like JB, but Mom is the big fan around our house. I have all their CD’s except IAT, bought the BR/DVD of the 3D movie that first morning it was available, I even have the poster of their first Rolling Stones cover on the cabinet door in my sewing room! I went to the JB3DCE by myself on the opening day in the morning (took the day off work to do so) at the only IMAX theatre in Portland and loved every minute of it. (I did take the boys to a regular 3D version the next weekend.) My sister, who loves me and “doesn’t mind” JB (she’s being converted!) went to see them with me in Portland, OR this June (it was my first big arena concert ever) and said it was the best live rock concert she’s ever seen. I saw them in Tacoma, WA the next day by myself. Then I flew to Sacramento, CA in Aug. to see them by myself again (where I got to meet Tlatzotzontli/aka Karla!). I can honestly say I’ve never danced/sang/cheered with so much enthusiastic abandon in my entirely life as I did at these concerts. The Jonas boys inspire me as no other public figures have – ever. As many of my friends here have pointed out the many many reasons we respect, admire and appreciate them, their family, what they represent and stand for, I won’t repeat the list (I doubt I could do it any more eloquently). I also am hugely impressed by their band. Especially during this most recent tour, they have shared with us their talent, great humor, intelligence and caring souls. As a motherly (mostly) type, it comforts me to know that these young men we so cherish are surrounded by such great folks.
Rob Hoffman, the band’s photographer, shares one of his favorite quotes: “… find a band you like and grow with them…” (or something like that). I am so tickled to be along for the ride, to watch them grow as people and artists.

Shell I did not know that was your job-wow..sounds fascinating.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:34 am Lauren

Shelly, we have GOT to get together for coffee and talk! I could have written everything you wrote, right down to taking off work to go down to Bridgeport to see their IMAX 3-D movie when it came out! I’m right in Portland! Want to get together sometime?

        • on August 26, 2009 at 2:53 pm lenzmom

Wow, Lauren, we have got to chat! Were you at the first morning show at Bridgeport for the 3D movie? LOL! You’re in Portland? Fantastic! You probably know where Longview/Kelso are then? That’s me. Are you on Twitter? I’m @shellenz. or you could email me: lenzmom.takeabreath@gmail.com

          • on August 26, 2009 at 6:06 pm Lauren

I know exactly where you are in Washington! I’m not on Twitter, but i’m on Facebook. I’ll email you!

      • on August 26, 2009 at 2:56 pm lenzmom

It can get pretty interesting. I often say there aren’t enough letters after my name (as in Psychiatrist, Counselor, Legal advisor, etc.) for the job I do. I joke that if we ever won the lottery, DH would have to stay home with the kids because I have too much of a “nose problem” to leave my job.

    • on August 27, 2009 at 1:53 am Sonnnn

I too have a degree in English Literature. :) And I’m certified to teach high school English as well, though I decided not to go that path…

  21. on August 26, 2009 at 4:02 am Anna

Well, I am 22 and work while taking a couple college classes here and there. I dont have children and am not married, but I do live with a boyfriend of 3 years. I stubled on these fine boys 4 years ago while babysitting a neighbor girl. She introduced me to them and I am still amazed with them to this day. I adore Joe and Nick. However, I have always been, is and always will be a Kevin girl. I found him to be a very gorgeous man and think that he has so many talents. I call Kevin my “legal crack” and am so happy for him and Danielle

    • on August 26, 2009 at 8:36 am Sonnnn

what does your BF think of your obsession? does he come with you to shows?

      • on August 26, 2009 at 12:37 pm Anna

He’s cool with it. He says that at least in real ilife I am his not Kevin’s ;) . I’ve only been to one show and he didn’t come with me

    • on August 26, 2009 at 3:24 pm Jan

I think it’s great that you are happy for Kevin and Danielle. I’m sure that we would all love to be invited to the wedding! I’d love to see a People magazine cover story of it but I have a feeling that the Jonas/Deleasa families would prefer a more private event.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 4:37 pm Anna

I swear I’m gonna be a little mad if the wedding isn’t covered at all.

        • on August 26, 2009 at 6:17 pm Jan

I saw on a website where Demi Lovato was appearing on the view. They had a backstage video of Kevin Jonas I with her because he’s one of Demi’s managers. Barbara Walters said to Kevin that it was nice interviewing his sons and then added, “Your son is too young to get engaged.” Kevin acted as if he wasn’t sure what she said so he said he didn’t quite hear her. She repeated, “Your son is too young to get married.” Kevin was polite about it but said, “Well, he’ll be at least 22 and he’s very smart.” Barbara Walters then asked him how old he was when he got married, and Kevin replied, “20.” I thought it was so rude of her! What the heck business is it of Barbara Walters to be telling a parent that his son is too young to get married?!

          • on August 26, 2009 at 6:25 pm gityofunon

Wow, I’m surprised at Barbara Walters, that was more than a little presumptuous on her part!

          • on August 26, 2009 at 6:34 pm coolmom823

Maybe she’s still miffed because they were so cagey about even admitting to girlfriends when she interviewed them! ;)

          • on August 26, 2009 at 6:53 pm sharpld

            Bad form, BW, bad form.

          • on August 26, 2009 at 7:52 pm Elisa

Well… I believe that Barbara Walters has been married three times herself… So her faith in marriage is probably shaking a bit. ;)

22 would be too young for me, but it’s a personal decision and I think Kevin’s ready to take that step. I mean… Look at Nick – it’s obvious that these guys are mature way beyond their years.

            Besides… It’s just NONE of Barbara’s business. :)

          • on August 27, 2009 at 1:44 am Sonnnn

Oh my god. I can’t even BELIEVE she said that to him. UG!

        • on August 26, 2009 at 6:58 pm sharpld

I hope they can keep it private, if they choose to do so. They have worked so hard to keep their relationship to themselves and Kevin has done his best to shield Danielle from the media. I will greedily pore over whatever they decide to release, but I would be sad if their special moment gets crashed by unwanted paparazzi.

          • on August 26, 2009 at 7:14 pm coolmom823

My guess is that Kevin will do what most celebs in his position do, which is to give People Mag an exclusive. It keeps others away, and People gives tasteful discreet coverage that is as unobtrusive as possible and hits racks after the fact.

It’s a natural fit, especially given People’s relationship with Disney and how JB has been very visible in People over the years. :)

  22. on August 26, 2009 at 7:36 am merry27

ok just had the best time reading everyone’s stories!!! what an amazing group :)

I am Mary and I was born the same year as President Obama which is young for a President but old for a Joans fan.
I have a son (18) and daughter (14) and will be married for 20 years in 2010.
We live in CT now but I have also lived in England and Japan as a young mom and NYC for the longest . Traveling is one of my passions..I like any big city and love to explore by foot. I am also an intense Yankee fan..I try to watch every single game and when they lose my mood is bad, so I’ve been pretty happy this summer :) The picture I always have with me is the JBs at the old Yankee Stadium, and when they wear NY hats or talk about them I just feel so happy!
My daughter became interested in the JBs back in 2007. I was sort of indulging her, but as I read more about them, and heard their music (Mandy!) I was intrigued. We saw them live in March 08 and I was hooked. My daughter has always been a Joe girl and I am too although I love them all. And the emergence of Bulldozer this tour has enhanced the Jonas experience even more as these guys have turned out to be beyond cool .
The stars have alligned for us in all things Jonas and we have been lucky to see them 7 times so far and have had lots of sightings outside hotels and concerts. My best memory so far is the Camden Road Dogs game.
I found SR while searching “John Taylor” one day. Of course! I delurked last fall and have never looked back.
The ladies here have made me smile every single day since then.
Cpaig and Mememoi occupy a HUGE place in my heart. I could never find the words to thank them :)

  23. on August 26, 2009 at 8:24 am Lauren

I’m Lauren and I’ll be 50 in a little over a month. I started celebrating my birthday 2 months early when I went to my second JB World Tour show in Las Vegas on August 1st! (the first one was in Portland, OR.) Did i mention I LOVE this site!

I started following the boys when in 2006 my sister-in-law asked me what she could get my then 10-year old daughter for Christmas and I said “well, there’s this new band…” and the rest is history. I’m happy to say we are the proud owner of one of the few (50,000 is relatively few!) copies of “It’s About Time” and we’ve been following the band ever since.

I realized I had OJD when my daughter went to sleep away camp for a week, and despite a long “to do” list, I spent the entire time on the computer watching You Tube and reading everything I could about the Jonas Brothers. What can i say, I’m a product of the Bobby Sherman/Davy Jones era, and lived my life waiting for the next Tiger Beat and 16 Spec magazine to appear on newstands. I still have my ticket stub from that 1971 Bobby Sherman concert!

I’m lucky enough to have seen the Jonas Brothers 4 times since 2007, and have watched them grow. I love their music and make NO apologies about it! Even when they come to our town (Portland, Oregon), and I tell my daughter, “we’re getting tickets, right??” (my husband thinks I’m nuts!) Once we waited in line 4 hours to win a lottery chance to buy seats in the first 20 rows of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, a small venue (3,000 seats) on their When You look Me In The Eyes tour (we got 2nd row!).

I’m a Joe fan, but I do love them all. I think they are doing amazing, considering the industry and media pressure that must be on them.

I have a whole list of favorite songs, but Mandy has been there from the beginning. Much Better and Paranoid also from their latest… Their current tour is so great with the amazing stage, and the addition of the horns and strings. Along with their back-up band, they have an incredible group of talented musicians traveling with them.

It’s nice reading about everyone who follows this site!

  24. on August 26, 2009 at 8:30 am Monica

Just want to say it is SO FUN to read all of these and see some “de-lurking”. I will post mine soon but gotta get the kids off to school (priorities….). I just love it here.

  25. on August 26, 2009 at 8:39 am Sonnnn

I am just SO excited to be with all of you, and also to meet those of you who are “in my generation.” It’s so cool to know that you are here. 8) yay!

Don’t you all just think there must be something magical or just magnetic about the JB? We have all seen celebrities, movie stars and singers perform once, twice, many times – but it seems JB has this power to hook you in SO fast, and so hard. Maybe we all just “see” their goodness and we’re attracted to it? It’s so different, and so uplifting…

  26. on August 26, 2009 at 9:35 am Monica

Yes, Sondra, there is something about them. Something “magnetic”. I am a 42 year old happily married mother to two girls, ages 11 and 14. I work parttime as a legal secretary and have been working in the legal field for 24 years. My now 14 year old, back in 2007, could not stop talking about the Jonas Brothers. I just kind of humored her and listened to her talk about them incessantly and would just smile and tell her “that’s nice..I’m glad you like them…they seem pretty cool…etc. etc.”. In Sept of 07, our local radio station announced that they were coming to town for an impromtu short acoustic show in a local bar. A bar?? I called and asked about them playing in a bar, and the guy said “well, it looks like it will have to be moved to the parking lot due to the interest in this and all of the calls I’ve gotten”. The girls and I and my oldest’s bff went. It was 100 degrees out and girls were dropping like flies. We were in the FRONT row, about 3 feet from them, and my DDs friend was feeling sick, so we went to stand under a tree. About 5000 people showed up and I thought “wow, these guys are pretty popular”. Then on 9/15/07 they had their first live chat and that was also the day the Hanna/Miley tickets went on sale (which we didn’t get). My girls and I watched the live chat together. I was intrigued and there was just something about them that made me want to learn more. Then there came all the YouTube videos. I literally sat for half a day watching these videos, and the one that got me hooked was The Nick J Show (you know the one). It was hilarious and cute and I wanted more. My DD’s bff actually had It’s About Time, so we burned it after looking to buy it. It was not for sale anywhere. Mandy absolutely is one of my faves. I then took my oldest to a meet and greet on 12/3 when they came to town for the HM/MC show. My DD was shaking upon the thought of meeting them and shaking their hands. It happened so fast. We then went to the WYLMITE show in Feb. of 08. Fun, fun, fun! Our latest was the show here on 7/29 and it was by far the best. Not many know of my JB obsession. My girls know I love and admire them. I seriously thought I needed therapy because I was so into them. Then, I found Sibling Revelry when googling Jack Lawless! I was SO relieved to know there are others out there like me! Seriously, I thought there was something wrong with me. So, thank you to Cpaig and Mememoi and all of you for taking the time to be a part of this. I check it every day. I love these boys unconditionally. I think they could go out and murder someone and I’d still love them. I love their family and everyone around them. They are quality people and I wish there were more like them in this world.

  27. on August 26, 2009 at 10:13 am Lauren

This is so fun reading all of these! I see pieces of me in everything I read. It makes me feel oh-so-less-insane! Thank you everyone! It’s especially fun to read about those of you who went to the Las Vegas concert. I wish I had known! I met up with a friend there, but it would have been so fun to get together with some SR followers!

    • on August 26, 2009 at 12:32 pm Sonnnn

oh, really???? I would have loved to meet you too. I met a lot of great people in Vegas. Do you live there? We are definitely going back.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 1:53 pm Lauren

Hi Sondra, No, I don’t live in Vegas; I’m in Portland Oregon. I had been following Andrea Hylen’s blog (www.AndreaHylen.com) about her and her 16 year old daughter are traveling around the country trying to get to 45 JB concerts this summer. (Andrea writes from the mom’s point of view; Hannah from the teenager point of view.) Anyway, when the Jonas Brothers came through Portland, I invited Andrea and Hannah over for our pre-func concert party (t-shirt making and pizza!) and they accepted! Then I met Andrea in Las Vegas for that show, and we had a lot of fun. I was without my 13 year old daughter, and had so much more fun in Vegas, without the worry of embarrassing her and her friends while I sang and danced! I had a blast!

Vegas is fun, but I’ve found that the really fun stuff is off the strip!

  28. on August 26, 2009 at 12:12 pm cpaig

I love hearing all of your stories and meeting so many of you for the first time!

  29. on August 26, 2009 at 12:41 pm Anna

I gotta admit that I am shocked at how many more Joe fans there are than Kevin ones here. I always thought Kevin cornered the market with the 30 and over crowd.

    • on August 26, 2009 at 4:35 pm merry27

I count an equal number of Joe, Nick and Kevin fans. am I wrong?

      • on August 26, 2009 at 4:49 pm coolmom823

No merry, you’re not wrong, we’re pretty evenly spread around here. And after all, we all love them all right? :)

      • on August 27, 2009 at 1:49 am Sonnnn

what am I counted as? am i in both the N and J columns?

    • on August 26, 2009 at 6:36 pm sharpld

There is no lack of love for any of the brothers here. One of the things that makes this site special is that we may choose “favorites,” but I think any and all of us would stand behind any and all of the brothers with equal love and ferocity.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 6:42 pm Jan

Exactly! I’ve got all of their backs!

      • on August 27, 2009 at 8:56 am Sonnnn

Because they are incredible individually but they are also completely special as a group. The fact that they are brothers makes them different than three “Random guys” (to quote Joe) in a band.

      • on August 28, 2009 at 9:38 am mollyanne

        Amen. I completely agree.

    • on August 27, 2009 at 1:49 am Sonnnn

really? i don’t see much the difference between the guys ages being a reason to like one or the other. They’re ALL young. Yup, it is true! :)

Anyway, for me it’s a personality thing. Not an age thing.

  30. on August 26, 2009 at 1:29 pm keco

Hey everyone! I am Kelly, 29, and I am originally from New Jersey. I went to College in New Hampshire and am living on Martha’s Vineyard. I have been married for 7 years and have twin three year old boys that keep me very busy. I stay at home taking care of the boys during the day and work at a restaurant a few nights a week. I adore the Jonas Brothers and it is kind of my little secret. None of my friends understand at all. I found this blog about one year ago and have been reading ever since. I very rarely say anything (only because you all say it for me). I love reading what all of you are saying and following you on Twitter. I went to my first concert this summer and had a great time. It is such a relief to know that there are other adult fans.

  31. on August 26, 2009 at 4:03 pm Monica

Hey Sondra, I just read on Nick J Online (I think) that Brad Paisley was at the JB show in Nashville last night! Along with Trace Adkins, Faith Hill, Hayley Williams and someone else I can’t remember.

      Michael W Smith!

      and the Carter Twins.

  32. on August 26, 2009 at 6:38 pm sharpld

This thread is fun to read! I love that such an eclectic mix of people have been brought together by Jonas magnetism (to paraphrase Monica).

I haven’t seen this pulled outin awhile, so here goes: I ♥ us!

  33. on August 26, 2009 at 7:29 pm gityofunon

I’m a 25 year old Jonas Brothers fan from New Jersey. I was positively gobsmacked when I realized this.

You must understand, my love for the JB largely came as a surprise because when I was a teenager I didn’t listen to much pop music. All my friends were chomping at the bits to go to Backstreet Boys and Nsync concerts, while I was disinclined. The pop scene at that time seemed to be dominated by acts that were overproduced and often felt inorganic and disingenuous. Few of the performers seemed to be actual musicians, so I was unimpressed.

In undergrad I developed the habit of watching the Disney channel. While I was watching I kept seeing those Bonus Jonas segments and “Living the Dream” spots. I had never heard of the Jonas Brothers, never heard any of their music, but those spots amused me, intrigued me. The boys seemed to genuinely enjoy one another’s company, and had an easy way of showing affection to one another. I liked that Nick and Joe often shook hands, formerly like two deacons after Sunday service. I liked that the two older boys appeared to treat the younger one like an equal. I liked their infectious enthusiasm. I liked their confident and distinctive sense of style. The tight pants. After months of subversive exposure to the boys, I headed to Youtube. It was a slippery slope.

But despite all that, I wasn’t really a fan, not yet. I was intrigued by how the boys navigated through the sticky swamps of teenage fame, but I had yet to give myself completely over to their charms. The transformation into true fan was two-fold. First, I happened upon a Youtube clip of the boys in the Nokia Green Room. In the video—insofar as I can tell—the brothers didn’t know that they were being filmed in the room. Yet they behaved more innocently than I thought teenage boys were still capable of doing when no adults were around to watch. They fooled around with a trunk full of costumes and masks. They ate some candy and drank soda but didn’t curse or act like vulgar little rock stars. It was incredibly endearing. Especially when some other, older bands came through and the brothers immediately shifted from boys to mannered young men, shaking hands and introducing themselves to the newly arrived guests. Then, a few days later I watched as Russell Brand made those awful jokes at the 2008 VMAs. When Brand made all those disrespectful jokes about the boys, I thought back to the Green Room video and was sickened. I thought, it is the status quo to be derisive of anything positive and real these days. So much of popular culture seems to be laced with cynicism, and yet here are some young guys bucking the trend by remaining true to their values and they get ridiculed in such a public way. I didn’t like that, so the next day I went out and bought JB and ALBL, and I’ve been a committed fan ever since.

The Jonas Brothers not only helped clear my head of some cynicism, but they inspired me to reconnect with my Christian faith. I thought, man, these kids are all younger than me yet they’ve cultivated for themselves a rich system of belief. What’s more is that they weren’t ashamed to speak freely about it, without piousness. And for me, there was the weight of proof behind their words because the lives they (and their family, by extension) are leading are testaments to the existence of blessings and the power of faith.

I think I plucked up the nerve to share some comments on this site in October or November of last year, and I’m so happy I found Sibling Revelry. I am convinced much of my enjoyment of the JB experience has been so satisfying because I’ve been able to explore it with everyone here.

    • on August 26, 2009 at 7:57 pm coolmom823

Your observation about how the Jonas Brothers are so admirable because they manage to render irrelevant almost all of our previous experiences with the trashy, cynical, sleazy elements of current popular culture, is so dead on.

That is exactly what I love so much about them. They are living proof that is it possible to be decent, respectful, moral and honest AND STILL BE talented, driven, exciting performers and artists. :D

    • on August 26, 2009 at 8:07 pm Barbara

Well said, well written. Put into words things that I couldn’t have expressed, but definitely agree with. For example:

The boys seemed to genuinely enjoy one another’s company, and had an easy way of showing affection to one another. I liked that Nick and Joe often shook hands, formerly like two deacons after Sunday service. I liked that the two older boys appeared to treat the younger one like an equal. I liked their infectious enthusiasm. I liked their confident and distinctive sense of style.

      Thanks for sharing!

(By the way, is there a way to “set off” that quote so that everyone can sees it’s a quotation and not my words? I forget!)

    • on August 26, 2009 at 8:12 pm Laura

I love your story! You explained so much better than I could why the JB are so attractive (in the existential sense, besides the physical sense)!

It took me a long time to figure out why I was turning into a fan of this band of brothers, it made no sense, I was almost old enough to be their mother (at least Nick’s), and I was never a big fan of mainstream music. Yet from the first time I listened to Jonas Brothers in the car w/my kids, I was drawn in.

Music that my kids and I both liked? A band that I could be happy to point to as role models? Actual musicians that wrote their own music and played their own instruments?! YES! And they wear purity rings and respect and adore their parents! SIGN ME UP!!!

A few months after we bought the cd (and listened to nothing else in the car every day), my husband said, “did you know the Jonas Brothers are coming to town”? We thought what a perfect chance to take our kids to their first concert! At 14 and 11 they weren’t old enough to be embarrassed by us, and who knew if that chance would ever come again. It was magical, and a few months after that we saw the Burnin Up tour at an outdoor venue, which was even better. It has really been something that has brought our family closer.

My son is 15 now and sort of “over it”, but he still plays their songs on his guitar, and was willing to take a purity pledge, no doubt because the JB made it acceptable.

My daughter is 12, and still a big fan. We love to watch JONAS together, and still play their cd’s while we drive.

I must admit, as they get older, my “motherly affection” for the band is developing into something else, on occasion : ) What’s a fanlady to do?!

Thank goodness for this blog, where I don’t have to worry that anyone will think I am twisted! Truly, the JB and their family and their music have been a blessing to my family and me!

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:26 pm Barbara

Laura and Laura – there’s 2 of you, I think??! (One 18 from the UK, and 1 married with kids and “old enough to be their mother”) Have either of you posted before this? Forgive me; I’m just trying to see if I can keep you straight. :)

I’m so excited to meet everyone, especially the new people!

        • on August 26, 2009 at 8:34 pm Laura

I know!! I didn’t know there were two of us either! I’ve only been posting for a little while, and not very often. And, yes, I am old enough to be their mother, or maybe “way older sister” sounds better ; )

I live in Virginia, but am originally from upstate NY.

You certainly can’t deny the infectious fun of their youtube videos. I’ve spent too many hours to count following link after link after link. And I don’t think I’ve watched the whole Nokia green room video…so off I go…

  34. on August 26, 2009 at 8:02 pm Laura

Hi, I’m Laura, I’m 18, from England and I’ve just finished my A-levels. I’ve been a Jonas fan since April, not long I know but it’s been an amazing Jonai ride since then!
The Jonai were not that well known over here until last year when they released their first single here, SOS. I mean, I’d seen them on Disney channel, on Hannah Montana and I’d watched Camp Rock where I have to admit I fell slightly in love with Joe after him singing ‘Gotta Find You.’ But after watching them I wasn’t totally amazed and head over heels in love with them.
But all that changed. One of my friends said she had bought two tickets for their world tour, coming over to the UK in November, I have to say I’m ridiculously excited to see, it looks absolutly amazing! She couldn’t find anyone who wanted to go so I said, yeah I’d go with her. I’d never really listened to their music much before, only a few songs after hearing them on Disney Channel.
This then prompted me to go onto iTunes and buy the two albums that were out here, these being ‘Jonas Brothers’ and ‘A Little Bit Longer.’ I have to say only after hearing a few songs off Jonas Brothers, I was hooked. ‘When You Look Me in The Eyes’ became one of my favourite songs along with ‘Goodnight Goodbye, SOS and Hold On.’ With ‘That’s Just the Way We Roll’ becoming mine and my friends song. I then got onto ALBL, which well and truely blew me away. With ‘BB Good, Burnin’ Up, Lovebug and Tonight’ and then Nick’s amazing vocals and lyrics with ‘A Little Bit Longer.’
I then went to see The 3D concert which well and truely got me, hook, line and sinker. Not only did I see what amazing and mature performers they are but I got to see them in a whole new light. They truely are mature beyond their years and the family support that they have around them. And the thing that sealed the deal? ‘Love is On it’s Way.’ Such a well written song.
Since then I have been everything JB, but I still didn’t have a favourite. After watching one of their live chats, I fell for Joe after his Panda comment. But I have to say, I love Kevin for just being Kevin – ain’t no one like him – and Nick truely amazes me with his work he does for Diabeties and his song writing skills, well I guess that’s all of them really.
I bought LVTT twice because my pre-order, special cover edition, wasn’t delivered on release date so I got a copy off iTunes. But that album has to be one of my all time favourites, it shows how they are maturing both as people, more than they already are,  and as song writers. This album has some of my favourite JoBro songs on it, such as ‘Fly With Me, Black Keys, Turn Right, Much Better, Hey Baby,’ Well I suppose all of them.
One of the things I admire them the most for, their Purity Rings, is one thing people mostly mock them about. It shows not only a commitment to their faith, but a respect for women out their. Their faith is one thing that always makes them stand out from the rest, how they can still have all these fans and success but keep themselves grounded. I think both partially to their faith and the strong family network they have around them. As well as their band they have put together!
I think I’ve written to much now but once I get carried away I can’t stop! Haha. Most of my frieds don’t get my love for the Jonai but I’m working on them!
I’m looking forward to 22nd November in Manchester when I get to see them live for the first time, and by the looks of the YouTube videos I’ve been watching it looks amazing! I’ve entered for the M&G too but I don’t think I will get it!
I came across SR after JT posted a link on his Twitter about the M.E.N. article and I’ve never looked back.
Just now trying to find The Rolling Stone collectors edition somewhere over here! I got the last cover they were on, luckily!
Thank you so much for this site, it shows that not all Jonas fan sites have to be all ’squeall’ and extremely tween! :-)
Thank you and keep up the good work!

Welcome Laura! It’s always so exciting when Jonas fans from around the world join us! :D

We should, I really think, send JT a “Thank You” tweet for mentioning SR and the MEN post. Discerning folks like yourself have been finding us more and more, and it’s so exciting.

      Thanks for sharing your story!

      • on August 26, 2009 at 8:38 pm Laura

That sounds like a good idea! I think I’m
gonna go and do it now!

    • on August 26, 2009 at 8:54 pm Elisa

Hey, I ordered the RS collector’s edition from Barnes & Noble… Shipping didn’t cost that much and the delivery was pretty fast (all the way to Finland!). I was glad to get it that way because it’s not available here!

      Here’s the link:

      http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?r=1&ean=9781615587759&afsrc=1

Where did you enter for the M&G? I’m going to the two London shows in November. So excited to go to England for the first time! : )

      • on August 26, 2009 at 9:04 pm Laura

Thanks for that! I’m gonna go and order it now! :-)
I did it through Team Jonas, it’s under the tour part. You just have to be a member to enter.

      • on August 26, 2009 at 9:08 pm Laura

P.S. You’ll have such a good time when your here! There’s so much to do and see! You need to see all the sights in London, it’s so much fun! I did it in July and felt like such a tourist but it was so much fun! You should go to the Theater as well, you can get cheap tickets, like ones at half price if you buy them on the day in Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus for most shows! It’s deffo must!

        • on August 27, 2009 at 7:21 am merry27

Laura my son is in the UK right now..he will have nothing to do with theater but is trying to go to as many football matches as possible..

          • on August 27, 2009 at 8:21 am Laura

That sounds good! I’m a massive football fan! Manchester City being my team of choice. Is he going to premier league matches or other divisions as well? It’s a very good season so far! Hope he’s having a good time!

            • on August 27, 2009 at 10:46 am merry27

ooh Man City is much cooler than Man U! good for you..
My husband is Irish born raised in London and he is a Millwall supporter (I know..). although his EPL team is Liverpool. After trying out several teams my son is now an Arsenal fan, and I am a casual Chelsea fan just to annoy them both.
Our whole house revolves around football once the season starts..but I am a baseball girl!
The Arsenal tix my son was looking at online were outrageously expensive and we decided not to buy them (now if they were Jonas tickets that would be a different story) so he is sort of going wherever friends and family will take him: Millwall and possibly Ipswich..
He will have more chances I’m sure :)

Do you live in Northern England? Here we tend to support our home teams (state by state mostly) but it seems my nephews (mostly from London and the south) support teams from all over-like Everton.

              • on August 27, 2009 at 11:18 am Laura

Yeah Arsenal tickets are ridiculously expensive compared to some other premier league clubs, but as you said if they were Jonas ticket a whole other ball game! There’s loads of games each weekend and during the week because of all the different divisions! My house is like that, all of us bar my sister and grandma support Man City and they support Man Utd, so there is always a good bit of rivalry there during the season!
Yeah I’m from Manchester and was brought up a City fan and never looked back as you would say!
Never really watched much Baseball but we get ESPN here now and MLB is on it so I’ve started watching it. I’m a huge American Football fan, my team is Chicago Bears and I’m going to the game at Wembley in October which should be good! My brother plays it over here so he kinda got the whole family into it! I’m going over to the States next summer so I’m hoping to catch a baseball game or something like that! Should be fun!

                • on August 28, 2009 at 10:08 am mollyanne

You’re a bears fan? That’s great! And welcome, by the way :)

I’m an Indianapolis Colts fan myself, but I grew up just outside of Chicago so I’ve watched plenty of Bears games in my day.

I love reading everyone’s stories! It’s so great to get to know you all better.

And it’s so awesome that more and more people are finding this wonderful place!

  36. on August 27, 2009 at 1:26 am Trish

WOW! Awesomeness abounds! So great to see the intros and delurkings…I was just logging in to post my Nashville update, which I will go put in the proper post. But for now…

I’m Trish, a 36 year old single mom of a 15 year old daughter. I’ve never been married (not going into those details, LOL!) I am a rep for Hallmark.

And I know I *squee* over them way more than I should. But I’m not ashamed. ;)

    Favorite Brother: Kevin
    Favorite Song: Lovebug
    Favorite CD: Jonas Brothers

One night, I guess it was in mid 2006, we were on vacation. My daughter and I were sharing a room and the radio was on because at that time she preferred to sleep with noise on. Radio Disney was playing and Jonas Brothers were in the “Incubator” with ‘Mandy’. We loved the song instantly, and believe me, music doesn’t affect me like that. I literally couldn’t stop thinking about the chorus. Just completely adored the song!

Time went by and eventually there was a video on Disney Channel, ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’. My daughter called me into the room and said, “That’s those Jonas Brothers you like” (We LOL over that now!) and the part with “…Nick and Kevin now I’ve got her, boys…” she said “I think those are his brothers names.” (We REALLY LOL over that one! Can’t believe there was ever a time we didn’t know who they were!)

I never was the type to research bands, never really cared about bands or celebrities growing up (except Duran Duran.) So while I could call us “fans” since the first time we heard them, it wasn’t until they started getting more radio play with Year 3000 that we starting following them religiously, watching YouTube videos, looking at fansites, buying teeny magazines, preordering “Jonas Brothers”, etc.

In October of 2007, JB was performing at the GA State Fair. I tried to get tickets and they were sold out. It had never occurred to me to look for scalper tickets (again, not a band person…) Then I heard they were having a FREE Verizon Accoustic performance across town in November of 2007 before the Hannah Montana concert. So at 10 am we drove 40 miles across Atlanta thinking we’d be way early, only to find out there were already about 200 people there! Much to our surprise, a complete stranger (THANK YOU, kind gentleman) randomly walked up and gave my daughter an extra M&G pass he had. That day is still her favorite Jonas memory. We stood in the sun until 4 pm and when those boys played their 4 accoustic songs, our hearts melted. And keep in mind, we were already over-the-top in love, or so we thought. It turns out, every time you see them, you fall more in love. They are angels.

We have seen them 6 times in concert since 2007. Last night was the sixth, and we are suffering from PJD today (Post Jonas Depression). My Nashville post will take me a bit, but please check it out because something very interesting happened at the end of the night! :)

    • on August 27, 2009 at 2:42 am Trish

OK, Nashville recap is in the West South West South Post. Again, sorry for the length.

But seriously, if you don’t want to read my drabble, at least check out the end. Really. ;)

      • on August 27, 2009 at 7:05 am merry27

Trish..amazing!!!!! I loved your Nashville story. So happy for you and Corinne :)

        • on August 27, 2009 at 11:11 am Trish

Thanks Merry! We still can’t believe all the wonderful things that happened during these 3 shows!

          • on August 27, 2009 at 11:42 am coolmom823

Trish I am SO thrilled to think you were so close and in such a small group!!! :D

            • on August 27, 2009 at 1:15 pm Trish

Thanks! We have learned to never listen to the security guards! LOL!!

    • on August 28, 2009 at 10:13 am mollyanne

Trish, thank you so much for your Nashville recap! What an amazing day- especially the end of it! That’s incredible :)

  37. on August 27, 2009 at 1:47 am Sonnnn

I am going to make notes on all of this! Some of you, I need to know your “real” names. :)

  38. on August 27, 2009 at 1:51 am Sonnnn

what I find so shocking is how we (all the fans not just us on here) travel so much and so far to see the JB! we don’t just go to local shows. I’ve never done that before, not even CONSIDERED it.

It’s like pilgrimages or something. LOL!

    • on August 27, 2009 at 2:46 am Trish

Oh, yeah! I would have never considered such a thing. In Nashville, I met a man from Tacoma, WA who has taken his daughters to 39 JB concerts since 2006 all over the country. I don’t know where people get their money from, I’m about bankrupt after 3! LOL!

  39. on August 27, 2009 at 3:12 am DaniLyn85

Hi again everyone! Finally got my computer back. It’s ridiculous how out of touch I can get after only a couple days! First of all, welcome to all the new people! I was surprised to come back and see over 100 comments for this post.

My name’s Danielle, I’m 24 and I live in the Tampa, FL area. My memory is kind of fuzzy on when this whole Jonas thing began taking over my life. I remember watching “Living the Dream” on Disney and being so amazed by the young guys (they were babies back then!). I remember watching the SOS video over and falling in love with that song, and searching YouTube for live performances which led me to the multitude of other JB related videos out there. I bought the Jonas Brothers cd sometime in the fall and I picked up A Little Bit Longer not long after that.

As much as I loved their music, I wasn’t head over heels yet. I think the 3D movie did me in. I saw it for the first time on opening night (with my future roommate’s 14 year old daughter) and then went back 2 more times (by myself). I fell in love with their stage presence, their personalities and their sense of humor. I was hooked. I immediately went home to find out when they were coming to Florida. I joined Team Jonas and bought my presale ticket as soon as I possibly could.

The night of the Kids Choice Awards in March (while searching for anything about Garbo) I was led here. I don’t even remember what I was searching for, but I’m grateful that it brought me to this place. This was the first JB related site where I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts, and I enjoyed the intelligent, non-catty conversations, as well as the respectful and well-written musings of cpaig, mememoi and coolmom. I am very fortunate to have found this place. :)

I went to my very first concert on the 18th, and I think my admiration and adoration for these guys and their amazing band has increased exponentially.

At first I had a very hard time trying to decide who my “favorite” was. Nick caught my attention with his talent and his intelligence, and I love Kevin’s energy and charisma, but funny guys are my ultimate weakness. I can seriously watch Joe-related videos all day.

And now I’m going to stop talking because it’s late and I need to work in the morning!

So cool to finally get all your story, Danilyn after chatting these months! We’re glad you found us too!! :D

I love reading everyone’s stoires. We go from coast to coast and continent to continent :)

  41. on August 27, 2009 at 12:06 pm Mae

Hi All, it’s been awhile. I’ve slipped back into lurking mode but figured now might be a good time to pop back up and say Hi!

I’m 24 and live in Nashville. I first remember hearing about the boys when they performed on the AMA’s. My roommate and I were watching the show and caught Joe’s infamous stumble. We laughed and had a “So glad that wasn’t me!/Poor kid!” moment but I didn’t really think much else of them.

Then around February of 2008 I was mopping around my apartment sick on a Friday night. I was flipping through the channels and I happened to stop on Disney Channel while the ‘When You Look Me In The Eyes’ video was playing. As soon as it was over, I ventured onto YouTube to re-watch the video and then was sucked in by all the other amazing videos. And that was it. I was hooked.

p.s. The boys show on Tuesday night was so much fun! Although I had previously seen the boys perform at a radio show and then a the Ryman in January, it was my first time seeing the boys perform with one of their full scale tour productions.
Highlights: The water screen was so cool; the falling hearts were my absolute favorite thing.
I also loved the video montage that played during the song ‘That’s Just The Way We Roll’. I would love for them to release that video just on their YouTube channel. So many new clips of just the boys being silly.
Also, Kevin did a back flip during Much Better!!! With his guitar. It was so impressive. Kevin needs to utilize the trampoline more often. I have no doubt he is actually the best ‘gymnast’ of the three.

We also got foamed. I was so not thrilled about this. I thought we were sitting far enough back to be saved from this but nu-huh. That contraption swings Joe and Kevin so much farther out in the audience than I thought possible. My friend and I both turned our backs to the them as they swing by. But they got us good. My back (and the back of my head) was completely soaked. And it smelled pretty awful. I think the whole foaming thing made me realize that I am old. I am too old to appreciate a good foaming :P

Great write-up on the show here: http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2009/08/26/jonas-brothers-super-sized-sommet-show-scores-with-fans/

    • on August 27, 2009 at 1:12 pm Lauren

The crane that took Joe and Kevin up didn’t work for the Portland show. I was so bummed when I watched some of the You TUbe videos and realized we missed all the foam fun. We were sitting RIGHT where we would have gotten hit too! I thought it looked like so much fun.

i also loved the video montage during That’s Just the Way we Roll. That was so great! thanks for reminding me of that!

      • on August 27, 2009 at 10:20 pm lenzmom

I thought they didn’t do the foam in Ptld because the arena seats were upholstered cushions – I didn’t know the cherry picker didn’t work!

    • on August 27, 2009 at 4:24 pm merry27

Hi Mae..good to see you again :)
I’ve heard them (well Joe anyway) say that they go extra hard when they see people who DON’T want to get foamed..maybe that’s what happened to you and your friend??

      • on August 28, 2009 at 10:18 am mollyanne

I’m certain that’s what happened with me. The only time I made eye contact with Joe during our Pittsburgh show was when he was strapping himself into the cherry picker and I covered my head with my arms, shook my head no and closed my eyes. Next thing I knew, I got soaked from Joe :) Thought we were out of the woods then but Kevin got my entire back. Oh man were we soaked. It ended up being ok, because it was HOT in there and the foam felt pretty good!

        • on August 28, 2009 at 11:50 am Mae

LOL merry, that is kind of hilariously cruel of Joe.

molly, sounds like we had pretty similar experiences. I actually know for a fact that it was Joe that got me and my friend as well as once we were sprayed we both had a knee jerk reaction to flip back around with ‘come on now, was that really necessary!’ faces and noticed that Kevin hadn’t quite made it to us and was spraying down not out like Joe had been.

    • on August 27, 2009 at 5:45 pm coolmom823

Hey mae! Great to hear from you! :D

I know, I know, this should go in the previous post, but I found this interesting: There was a write-up about Nick’s Press Club speech by Politics Daily, the link of which was on AOL’s home page.

    Here ya go:

  43. on August 27, 2009 at 5:27 pm beckyheartsjb

I am really late to the Open Thread Party.I have read everyones comments, I love that JB has brought such diverse people together on this site.

I am Becky (Rebecca or Becca) aged 20 and I’m from Gravesend Kent England. I have two brothers, aged 16 and 24 yes I am the middle child :) Two months ago my beloved Nan died aged 88.She was more like a best friend to me, My mum and her raised me and my brothers since I was 5.We all have lived in the same house my whole life. My Dad left us for Liverpool in 1994 an remarried now he has moved back to a flat in Gravesend. (the less said the better ;) My Mum is always no1 in my life. My entire ethnic origin comes from the tiny Caribbean island of Montserrat, both sides of the fam.
I love Arsenal FC watching tennis, athletics and Heroes.

I am going into my second year of studies at the University of East London.I am doing International Tourism with Cultural Studies.Term time I live on campus, given recent events I have been at home all summer.I hope to work in Tourism when I have finished.

My first Jonas experience was in June 2008.I remember reading an american mag and it was talking about the movie Camp Rock. I thought who are these guys? a reincarnation of Busted? :) I wasn’t sold. But one day I decided to look them up on YT. My first official jonas YT interview was the boys on Paul oGrady. I heard them sing SOS it was so catchy.I remember calling my Mum and saying: ‘I have found a new non-HSM obsession, the Jonas Brothers.’ That afternoon I watched their live chat and hours of interviews. They seemed like the real deal talented, gorgeous and good people.I thought I couldnt love anyone as much I love *NSYNC and BSB, but I was wrong.Soon Disney Channel UK started to show promos for Camp Rock I found myself excited.I have since, seen them at Paul o Grady’s studio, been to my first concert (see londontown June post), and got the T-shirt,USB and seen the 3D movie.I am going to Nov 21st WT date at Wembley Arena. They also introduced me to Demi Lovato and Honor Society’s (I’m warming to them) music.

    Fave Jonas:Joe
    Fave Album : LVATT
Fave Song: Love is on its way and WYLMITE- my 1st <3

    • on August 27, 2009 at 5:47 pm coolmom823

Becky! It’s great to get your whole story, I’d never known just how you discovered JB. Has it been a year since you found us? Man, time flies! :D

  44. on August 27, 2009 at 9:21 pm Laura (VA,USA)

OK,OK, I had to add one more thing!! Right in the beginning when my kids and I were discovering the boys, we were searching on YT and came across “The Nick Jonas Show”. Priceless!!! We must have replayed it a hundred times and sent it to all our friends. Oh my gosh, between that one and a couple of the other “cd countdown” videos (“they call me dj danger”), we were laughing so hard we were crying!! I love that they can laugh at themselves and have fun – my kids said “hey, they’re crazy just like our family”! lol

    • on August 28, 2009 at 12:21 am Trish

Oooh! How’d you get the VA, USA under your name?!

When we first discovered their YouTube videos, we were still on dialup. It was an ordeal to wait for them to load but oh so worth it! As soon as we switched to a cable modem – I kid you not – the first thing we did was head straight to their YouTube channel! :)

      • on August 28, 2009 at 9:35 am Laura (VA,USA)

I just added it under my posting info. :) I thought it would help distinguish between the UK Laura and myself.

To this day, whenever I need a laugh, I watch the old YouTube videos. And my daughter used the dvd freesoftware to convert them onto her ipod!

  45. on September 1, 2009 at 6:45 pm ponedbyjb

I am late to the party… I hope I am still invited.. :)

Actually, being late to the party is what led me to this blog I now call home anyway.. Before we get to that I have to say holla to all the new friends here!!! I am oh so happy to have you aboard!! :D

I’m K, I’m 29 (that part still doesn’t seem real) and I developed Jonas-itis just about a year ago.. I had heard When You Look Me in the Eyes on the radio, but I thought it was by someone else.. a little while later I saw a re-run of the boys on Oprah.. I thought they were sweet, but I didn’t really think a lot of it. One night a friend was over and our regular shows were repeats, so he decided to flip to Disney… Camp Rock was just starting. I reluctantly rolled my eyes. He told me to hush; he had seen it and knew I would love it. I decided I would humor him… The moment Joe came on the screen I was hooked.. half way through the movie I blurted out *Wait… they’re the Jonas Brothers!?* At a commercial I ran (rolled) to my lap top and jumped on you tube. I screamed and shouted when I discovered they sang WYLMITE. We finished CR and I loved it. Once my friend left I decided I wanted to know more about these Jonas Brothers so I googled them. Through a series of fateful events (I know it was indeed fate) I ended up here. I read post after post. I was in awe! I really wanted to comment, but i was afraid.. so I spent about a day lurking LOL.

Once I commented i decided to jump in with both feet. Since then i have learned so much about life, friendship, myself, and of course the JB. Thanks to my lovelies; the angels in my life… I have been able to experience so much Jonas Joy. The high light of that would have to be July 11, 2009. My first Jonas concert. I went alone.. it was the biggest adventure of my life. It was more than a concert, it was a life changing journey I could not have had if i hadn’t stumbled upon this magical place that is SR. :) ♥

Someday i am going to send the babies a thank you card. Actually it would be more like a thank you notebook. Thanking them for music that inspires, while bringing pure joy. For being amazing role models in a world that seems to be lacking them. FOr caring about their fans in a way you have to experience to believe. For giving us so much of themselves. For having such an amazing band and crew, who also bring joy to our lives! For giving me strength, courage, and joy in my darkest hours. For introducing me to my best friends. ;) For changing my life. It may sound crazy, but it is true!

A few fun facts before i finally shut up….

I LOVE to talk. I know, I can see the shock in your eyes. ;)
I am totally a *dreamer who sees everything in color*
I have the blessing of getting to spend my days in a wheelchair; to some it may be a curse, but it is indeed my blessing.
All I want to do is leave the world better than I found it & hopefully inspire people along the way.
I am a Joe girl, but really Rob Hoffman is kind of my favorite!! :D ♥

Lovelies.. Thanks as always for letting me blab, and for letting me come home.. here’s to many more years of squeeing together. I ♥ us!!!!

    • on September 3, 2009 at 1:25 am Trish

Oh yeah! I had forgotten how you discovered JB. Thought it had something to do with Camp Rock. :)
