Oh, Joseph. Whatever will we do with you? You just can’t stay out of trouble lately!
So last week, my daughter, Spice, said that she thought that JONAS could use less “JO” and more “NAS”, which was her way of saying she’d like a less Joe-centric episode. Sadly, tonight didn’t grant her wish, but there were compensations!
Find out what they were, after the jump!
In this episode we again meet Miss Snark (apparently for the first time, what gives?), who is a REALLY big JONAS fan, and she just WON’T give Joe detention, no matter what he does. This doesn’t sit well with Abby.
My episode-chronology-sense, which has become finely tuned of late, tells me that once again, we are seeing an episode shot early in the season, but aired out of order. Joe is apparently interested in Abby, so much so that he is willing to give up his Saturday and spend it in the company of the Detention Nazi, otherwise known as the Vice-Principal, in order to prove to Abby that he’s a regular guy. Lucky for us, Kevin and Nick join him there, and hilarity ensues.
It turns out that Abby is a brat, that the Vice-Principal is even more obsessed with straight corners than he is with detention protocol, and that the hallway at Horace Mantis Academy has sufficient acoustics to enable JONAS to record vocals for delivery to their label by the end of the day. So this detention day ends with a dance party. I don’t know about anybody else, but detention wasn’t like that when I was in High School!
As another clue to the episode’s circa, we are given lots of information about what a fantastically talented seamstress Stella is and what a fantastically talented athlete Macy is, both of which we already knew!
But what about you Revelers? What moments did you want given “special treatment?”

To me, the Stella/Macy interaction was a little dull. Sorry. I love them both, but their lines weren’t so funny in this ep.
Funniest lines: Joe: “Where’d you come from”
Nick: “A small town in New Jersey.”
Kevin: “What’s up troublemakers?”
(That last line by Kevin had me busted out laughing!)
Other highlights for me:
Nick “It’s the new lyrics for the song we’re recording on Saturday. Learn it, live it, love it. But mostly love it.”
Joe: “Everybody else treats us like normal guys. Regardless of our hotness, coolness, and modesty.”
Nick “I didn’t know you had a thing for Abby.”
Joe “I don’t. I just feel really bad about what happened.”
Nick “And yeah, by ‘feel bad’, you mean ‘have a thing for’ “.
Kevin “O nice.”
(Hand slap and Nick’s face. Beautiful!)
Joe “We’re from a small town in New Jersey. We didn’t grow up on much, just love and fresh air.”
Joe “I just gotta talk to Abby first.”
Nick “Your apologies take forever. We’ll talk to her for you. Hi. Nick. Kevin. Joe feels really bad about getting you in trouble, so he wants to apologize.”
Abby “So he send over 2 spokesmodels”
(Nick’s face here – priceless.) (Can’t remember her response.)
Kevin “Oh look. Chapter’s about forgiveness.”
Nick to Joe “I don’t get it. Why do you want to go out with “her”?
I agree with coolmom – I REALLY wish they’d air these in order (or at least closer to the original order.) This seems like it should have been an “early” episode, especially compared to LoveSick and 3 Musketeers.
Jonas thought for today. The reason I could never choose between Nick and Joe LOL. Because I know you have probably noticed how much I talk about admiring Nick.
Joe singing “Tell Me Why.” There is nothing more attractive than Joe singing breathy songs. End of story. He should never stop singing songs like this. I can’t say enough about this matter.
Please JONAS Soundtrack – come to me quickly. I can’t live without you.
Amen.
“I don’t want to hang out at the mall!”
and all the times K & J take direction from Nick.
and yes, the way Nick & Kev talk about Abby. OH look the chapter is about FORGIVENESS.
Love it.

JONAS party invitations and thank you notes are IN THE HOUSE you guys!
I think her name is Ms Snart? It’s a RIDICULOUS name. Joe sounds so funny when he says it. THe Deterntion Ninja teacher was awesoem. that was a great sequence. The adults in this show are so much less annoying than in the other DC shows.
Jonas Mom was on Hung again tonight! She is very good on that show.
Does anyone know if a Nick-centric episode is going to happen again at all?
LOVED this episode. Lots of laughs from me, but my daughter said it wasn’t that funny to her. I think some of the humor escapes anyone under 14.
And I just now watched the live chat. Oh, they are so genuine and funny and intelligent and humble and sweet and…..there aren’t enough adjectives! Thought I would die laughing when Joe said Maggie was Jordin’s sister (after she said Maggie just pooped in the hall). I’m still laughing…I just wish the more intelligent questions would get through to them. Overall it was fun, fun, funny, fun!!
When they were talking to Nicole Anderson on the chat, they said that the thrift shop episode was the first one shot. Then Joe said that 2 weeks later they shot the karaoke episode that isn’t airing until September 6th. I can’t figure out their reasoning for airing them so out of order. From the still shots, it looks like “Cold Shoulder” episode might be Kevin-centric. I’m waiting for another Nick-centric one. I hope that next year’s episodes will be more fairly distributed among the 3 brothers or else feature all of them equally in each episode. This year they shot all 21 episodes before airing any of them. I wonder if they will do that again for next season or just have a few “in the can” before they show new ones like they do for Hannah and the other Disney shows.
Hey Jan, where did you find stills from “Cold Shoulder?” I haven’t seen those.
I can’t remember! Maybe even on Disney?
Just went on DisneyJonas. It’s on there under episode gallery.
Thanks Jan, I saw them!
I think they will do the same thing – spend January, February, maybe longer – on Season 2 and then air them starting in May 2010.
PS I think Kevin will get married during the 2-4 month period of time when they are in one place filming the show.
I really loved that the Detention Ninja was totally oblivious to Kevin and Nick in the room, even with Kevin following his every motion behind the skeleton.
The second storyline with Stella and Macy didn’t pull me in so much.
The end made me laugh out loud.
Joe: “Nick, keep an eye on me, I think I am cheating.”
Kevin’s cheesy french accent as he revealed his masterpiece perfectly complemented the painting of the book cover and Nick’s very realistic thumb. I love wacky Kevin.
I am still hoping for a Kevin-centric epsiode.
Stella’s sweatsuits sure were awesome though! And the volleyball uniform? with the plaid? Please! I love that plaid!
Did you see how she had butterfly pins over the Adidas logos? I need me that Adidas sweatsuit.
Pink and Black! LOVE THAT!
Joe looked really little and slim on this episdoe. His legs! Even though Nick is bulkier and has a bulky man’s neck, they are SO slender! I’m sorry, I just can’t get over it. OK. I am OK now.
Did anyone see the Diabetes press conference that is posted on nickjonline? Nick is so mature, humorous, intelligent, etc. He did us proud!!
Detention Review:
I watched this two weeks ago, so I had time to think about it…and watch it 26 times…what? Haha jk. But I have watched it. A lot.
Point 1: Carly Lang as “Abby”
I was disappointed by Abby in this episode. I just don’t think she did a very good job at acting. It was not very believable when she reacted to getting her hair stuck in the fire alarm (it seemed very staged. Well, it was, but, you know what I mean) and for being so upset with Joe, she laughed a lot when he got in trouble and everything.
My friend and I were discussing the girl characters in JONAS – they’re really mean! Then they suddenly have a miraculous realization that the boys are actually nice guys in the end… (How could you not see that from the start? haha)
2. Top Quotes:
“Learn it, live it, love it…but mostly learn it” –Nick. Oh, Nicholas haha.
“Have a thing for her!” –Nick “Nice!” –Kevin Nick’s face was priceless!
“Kevin, do you have a blue print of the school?”-Joe “Why would I have that?” –Kevin “How about a scale model of the school?” –Joe “Comin’ atcha!” –Kevin haha that was hilarious
“I still need the ducks for Saturday!” and “I can get 20 goats here by lunch!” –Kevin
“Just love and fresh air…” –Joe
“I’m like a detention NINJA!” –Vice Principal Smencer haha that was so funny
“What’s up trouble makers?!” –Kevin aah love it.
3. Random Notes:
-Their rings are so pretty. Especially Joe’s. What are the roman numerals? I couldn’t make them out exactly. Anyone have a good close up shot? I’ve only seen Kevin and Joe’s up close.
-Macy / Nicole Anderson I love that girl! She’s so adorable. She was a gymnast so that is actually her upside down! She and Chelsea Staub aka Stella have been BFFs for 4 years. Her hair is awesome too.
-Joe’s backpack. I love all the random things he has in there. He pulls out a goldfish bowl and says “What are you guys doin’ in there?” This episode oozes with Joe-cuteness.
-Tell Me Why. Time for a new song, kids.
Alright, that’s all I got! I took notes but I did a very bad job so it was difficult translating them and writing them down here haha.
♥ Emily
PS- Can we have a “Get-to-Know-You” thread somewhere? I want to know more about you awesome posters here!
Roman numerals? on Joe’s ring? did not think there were numerals on it. Would have to look at my pics – I’m sure I have one LOL. I’m obsessed with their jewelry. And I have a big love for Joseph Brooks – two bracelets so far…
Love the goldfish too, compltely funny and adorable. And I love that he has a backpack like Real Joe.
I second the Get to Know You – it’s public here so we’d not be able to get too detailed but it would be cool to have athread with ages (relative, not exact! LOL!), kids, husbands, locales, etc. We haven’t had an introduction thread in a while.
I loooove Joe’s backpack
If you look at the Rolling Stone cover (the first one) you can make out XI??V .
I have a typo/error in one of my quotes from the show
Nick: “It’s the new lyrics for the song we’re recording on Saturday. Learn it, live it, love it. But mostly learn it.” (I accidentally wrote “love it”.)
Finally got to watch this episode- it was a crazy weekend filled with road trips to the apple store to beg for a replacement phone.
Anyway, I really liked this episode. Definitely not my favorite, but I’m not going to complain about so much Joe in one episode.
I absolutely LOVED the part with Kevin and Nick in the detention room. So funny. And the detention ninja? Brilliant.
I’m definitely ready for another Kev or Nick-centric episode though. I’m wondering if we’ll get a bunch all at once considering they have aired the episodes so out of order.
I’m all for another get to know you thread. I haven’t properly introduced myself since I de-lurked last November. HA!
