Jonas Brothers as The Three Musketeers? Sublime!
Just for the record, The Three Musketeers is a story that I love.
I have seen many versions of this story, from the marvelous (the 1974 version with Michael York, Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlin, and a cast of thousands, if you haven’t ever had the pleasure See It!), to the ridiculous (the 1993 version with Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O’Donnel, Oliver Platt and a cast of children, a/n: In My Opinion, if it’s beloved by anyone, my bad) and if I could sit through that one, seeing a version with Kevin, Joe, and Nick playing the Three Musketeers would be a pure pleasure. Unfortunately, something happened on the way to Versailles.
Find out what went wrong, after the jump!
We find out that Joe Lucas has stage fright, and then regrets dropping out of the play when his rival for Stella’s affection, Van Dyke Tosh, gets his part as Stella’s character’s paramour. But never fear Joe/Stella rooters, because this show is called JONAS, not VAN DYKE, so Joe still gets to steal the kiss from Stella when he swings across the stage in true Musketeer fashion.
Great Moments:
A leather pouch for my turkey leg! [Did anyone else think this was a veiled and hilarious reference to a codpiece, or am I just showing my gutter mind?]
Acting tips from Dad
Joe Blue Panda pencil
Stella’s Wig
You totally skipped the scene where I get to wear my feathered hat!
Play Poster: 2/3 of JONAS starring in the Three Musketeers
Van Dyke replacing Joe as Kevin and Nick’s companion at dinner, on the atrium bench, on the elevator, and most importantly: in the hot slow-mo-down-the-hall-walk
What about you Revelers? What great acting moments did you spot tonight?

The drama teacher was melodramatic, but I still loved her! Loved her desperation to have the Jonai in her play!
I wrote down so many funny lines from this ep. They have such great writers!
Loved seeing the guys in the feathered hats!
Joe: We’re not actors.
Kevin: When you told Nick his hair looked great this morning, that was acting.
Nick: I rely on you.
Joe: But it looks great now.
Nick: Oh thanks.
Joe: Wow, I guess I can act.
Nick: (glare)
Kevin offering to quit the play for Joe, “I really, really don’t want to, but I will. I really don’t want to, but I will. (and 2 more times!) (Love Kevin!!)
Joe: “What is he doing in our room? This is like sacred JONAS territory.”
I also loved the “2/3 JONAS sign” and Nick’s facial expressions when his Dad was giving acting lessons.
I taped the episode tonight and watched it after the fact – I think I replayed some scenes like 3 times since I thought they were so funny. I LOVE this show!!!
Thanks for the awesome recapping Barbara
. We were having a thunderstorm watch and kept getting interrupted by weather bulletins, so I missed some goodies, I know.
LOVED the bit with Nick’s hair.
And Kevin, natch
I thought this episode was particularly hilarious.
me too me too! Loved the I RELY ON YOU! and Nick doing absolutely nothing acting wise for his dad. LOL
I watched it like 4x.
Such a sweet, sweet, episode. It definitely had me grinning. I think the montage of Joe being displaced by Van Dyke was my favorite. LBF was taken with it too…she said, very earnestly, “Joe really has FEELINGS.” I couldn’t help but laugh a little at her earnest JONAS observation, but…of course I knew just what she was trying to say. We enjoyed this one.
I thought it was cute and funny how they were all a little freaked out that one of them wasn’t going to be involved in this activity. Even if they really really (Kevin I’m looking at you) didn’t want to quit, they were missing being a threesome in an endearing way.
ha ha – I thought the turkey leg jokes were Disney World related … turkey legs are sold at WDW and people hold them and eat them walking down the street just like Kevin did. It’s pretty hilarious, the whole eating the turkey leg in the amusement park thing – at least to me and my DH…
What’s with the peck on the cheek? Was that supposed to be a real kiss? I was like, ohhh.
Also, who’s ready for some Nick- or Kevin-centric plots? We’ve sure had a lot of Stella/Joe stuff lately. I’d love to see some Macy/Kevin or Nick/anyone.
And I want to hear the whole song from this episode.
Oh, and NIck wore blue slacks! that was a first.
And…I have a new appreciation for Kevin’s worn-out beige boots. Yeah, for real. Me. I love everything about Kevin more since meeting him, but I liked the boots being featured in the episode! size 8.5, huh? small…
Nick’s feet are the only ones we don’t know the size.
Oh, and makeup applicator person – a little less on Stella please. She is beautiful – she does not need so much “Sharpay” hair and heavy makeup. I like the lighter touch on Macy’s character.
Whoa, wait a minute!!! Do mine eyes deceive me? Can it be that you no longer hate the beige boots? EEEK!
What will you be loving on Kevin next? Perhaps, dare I say it, TIGHT PANTS?!?!
LOL! At one point Kevin turned around and my daughter gasped.
Was it the scene where Kevin turned around and started telling Van Dyke the story about his boot? Because that’s when I gasped.
I gasped too! He sure has a lovely bum. They all do. Viva the tight pants!
ha ha! I don’t care for the Diors he loves so much because of the low pocket thing (he’s not alone in the low pocket trend! LOL!), but one can appreciate his fine figure.
Yes indeedy, his figure is certainly fine!
Lol, I must say I’m still not a fan of the boots…
I agree on Stella’s makeup!
Great acting…hmmm. I liked Nick’s accent! I loved Joe’s French. (after all he is a Broadway actor, La Boheme
).
Joe has such big beautiful eyes. They are such a help in acting.
This episode was just darling! It took me from “Aww, poor Joe” to “You go, Joe!”
“Better than CATS” had us LOLing. We’re huge CATS fans.
Kevin’s “really really” scene was a hoot. He is SO good!
Codpiece! Oh Coolmom, you slay me!
I assumed the whole turkey leg thing was referencing the Renaissance period. When I think turkey legs, I think Ren Festival. Now of course, I will also think JONAS…
LOL Trish, I’m a veteran of Ren Fests myself, and have gnawed a turkey leg or three. I thought of that, but it was the “leather pouch for my turkey leg” that got my mind working…just me no doubt, I’ll find double entendre anywhere!
I have to admit that codpiece hadn’t crossed my mind. Until reading this.
I am with Trish on the Renaissance Festival image. Am I the only one who was a little grossed out by the gnawed-on turkey leg?
I love the Kevin/Macy dynamic. They are both so sweet and innocent and alike.
The piece with the boots cracked me up. I always “awww” a little when the writers work the real-life mythos into the show. We have had Joe’s motorcycle and now Kevin’s boots. Now we need Nick’s aliens.
I thought Nick was particularly impressive in this episode. I always find Kevin to be the perfect oddball and Joe comes off so sweet. The JB really are getting the acting thing.
I love this show.
the turkey legs are totally gross! That’s why its so funny to see people walking around gnawing on those things at DW. LOL!
Was Joe the poster boy for sweetness in this episode or what?! I love the despairing look he gets when he finds out Van Dyke is replacing him in the play. I personally cheered for the kiss on the cheek – it sort of saves the friendship aspect of the situation. Joe saving Stella from the creepoid Van Dyke, but not turning it into a sexy scene. Anyway, JMO.
OT – someone on here must know what the pendant was Joe was wearing in this episode – the circular one? Is it the same one I’ve seen him wearing everywhere recently? Does anybody know what it is?
I’m pretty sure it’s the necklace he wore when dating Camilla. She wore one, too. Needless to say, he doesn’t wear it anymore, but I’ve seen it in almost every episode. I really loved this one…Joe is SO sweet, and I can imagine him like that in real life.
This is OT, but Taylor Swift was in town with Keith Urban last week and there was a review this morning in our paper. Her setlist was published, and she’s changed the name of her song from “You’re Not Sorry” to “Your Not Sorry/What Comes Around Goes Around”. Hmmmm……
Thanks for the info., I guess I never saw enough of Camilla to know she wore one too.
Too funny about TS, I’m sure she’s enjoying the drama : )
it was a necklace from some charity thing Camilla was sponsoring.
He continues to wear his Joseph Brooks though – right Tizzy? we all rock the JB bracelets.
I saw KU Twittering about TS. I wanted to say who cares Keith?! LOL!
I thought Stella LIKED Van Dyke???

Info on Malawi necklace!
I LOVED this episode!! My favourite parts are pretty much the same as everyone else’s but I’m going to share them anyway
- “Walking this way looks really cool, but makes us late for class”

- “I don’t joke around about a feathered hat.”
- The discussion about Nick’s hair… “Wow, I guess I can act!” Haha.
- “That’s a little… Uh… We should work on that.”
- Bathrobes!
- “Instead of five bucks, I’ll let you continue to live here.”
- Dad’s acting pointers… Haha! And his “warm-ups”… I love the dad, he’s really funny.
- “Move them or lose them, pal!”
- Joe’s blue panda pencil! I nearly fell off my chair when he kissed it… Lol. What is it with that boy and pandas
- “What was it that you wanted to talk to me about?” “Um… Nothing.” “Me too! We’re so in sync, you and me… You and me.” And the way Joe looked at Van Dyke after that.
- The auditions… “Perfection!!” I thought the drama teacher was hilarious.
- Stella’s “I got the part”- dance and the way she pronounced the name of her character
- “Is it? I havent read that far, so…” “Me either…”
- Kevin laughing at Joe and pretending to stab himself with his sword (this only happened in Joe’s imagination, of course)
- “Dude, what happened? You totally skipped the scene where I get to wear my feathered hat!”
- “Nervous? I perform in front of 50 000 screaming fans with no sweat!” “Yeah, but in front of us… there was some sweat.”
- “Maybe just a little nervous. Just a little bit. I think I’m gonna throw up. Just a little bit.”
- “You are an excellent Joe.”
- “I’m fine…” “Then please let go of my shirt.”
- “Do you have another brother?” “Frankie – he’s 8 but he can play really close to 11!”
- “I really really really don’t want to, but I will. I really don’t want to, but I will. I REALLY don’t want to, but… I will. I really really don’t want to… (an adorable glare from Nick) but I will!” Kevin is so hilarious in this show!
- “Hey, what happened to your boot?” “Thank you for asking…”
- “He’s a pretty goodlooking guy, though…” “Do you want me to lie to you?” “Yes… I do.”
- “One for all and all for fun!”
- 2/3 JONAS
- “Yeah well some of us needed some more practice…” “No problem fellows, I’m glad I could help you out.”
- Joe’s impersonation of Van Dyke
- Love “Tell Me Why”!
- “How can you eat at a time like this?”
- Van Dyke in the play
- Joe & Stella’s kissing scene… Joe = ♥ I was dissappointed when it was just a kiss on the cheek but it was very sweet.
- “Better than CATS…”
Oops, the list got kind of long but I just liked this episode so much!
Awesome recap Elisa!
I was reminded of another of my fave moments, when Nick says “Yeah well some of us needed some more practice…” and Kevin points at Van Dyke and mouths “this guy!” Hilarious!
I love your recaps Elisa!
They are always so thorough!
Joe’s “just a little bit” part was one of my faves too!
Although this episode is not my favorite, as I will openly admit, it was still great!
Excuse me, Joe and Stella? But I though we established that we were not “going down this road”…? But I am so glad they are! I think they are perfect for each other!
Since all of the best moments have been recapped, might I just say that I second the notion that we need more Nick and Kevin-based plots!
“We have had Joe’s motorcycle and now Kevin’s boots. Now we need Nick’s aliens.” -whoever said that hahahaha hilarious. My favorite live chat (also podcast!) ever is the last one they did when Nick talks about the “Extraterrestrial Experiences while playing basketball” haha I love him. (I love them ALL!)
Anyway, I love this show a lot, a lot. Everyone’s comments are amazing
♥ Emily
Yes, I agree. Let’s move on from Joe/Stella!!
My favorite parts have already been mentioned (Blue Panda pencil & Dad’s acting tips), but I also thought it was funny when Nick said that they could only audition for the play if they took it “seriously.” Yes, Nick, but of course! haha. Love him.
I agree about there being more Kevin-centric or Nick-centric episodes. Of course I love Joe, but a lot of the recent episodes have been about him.
Wow! You are all very thorough!
I loved this episode. At the end, when Joe said the the part about it being his part (or role) I just melted.
I’ve been away for a week (family reunion in the Smoky Mountains), and I’ve missed you guys! No one mentioned Nick wearing his feathered hat back on his head like it was a Stetson.
All of this episodes best moments have already been mentioned, I think, so I just wanna say I third the excellent idea that there should be more Kevin-centric and Nick-centric episodes. Oh, and that I thought the reprise of “Why” was a nice touch.
Btw, how big is that firehouse bathroom? When all of the boys came strolling out of it, I muttered to myself that it was like the clown car of bathrooms.
when were they in the bathroom? I have to see that again.
I liked the “throw up a little bit” too. Gross but funny.
I forgot to mention that I had a few “Jonas” moments during my vacation. I brought a friend with me that I have known for 36 years. We mostly listened to a book on tape (“A Tree Grows in Brooklyn”..wonderful) during the 15 hour car ride (each way!) However, we did listen to one CD..”Lines, Vines, and Trying Times”. She had never heard any of the JB music, and I think she enjoyed it. She also let me watch JONAS in the motel room, and she was the one to mention that the Jonas Brothers were on Conan after she saw an ad. We stayed up until 12:35 AM watching Conan, and we had to get up to meet some of my relatives for an 8 AM breakfast the next day!
My cousin from TN (one of the breakfast people) had been cool last year when I talked about JB in the cabin we rented. This year she said that “they are so cute. Someone has done a wonderful job of raising them. Is it their mother?” I proceeded to fill in my friend and my cousin about the Jonas family and how family-oriented they are.
So DH is cutting a leg off the leftover roast chicken from dinner. He holds it up and says “…and a leather pouch for my turkey leg!”. lol! (He actually ends up watching most of the episodes of JONAS with the boys and I.) I think that’s the first time he’s broken out of the blue with a JONAS quote.
