Jonas Brothers in underwear and birthday hats?
Sounds like a party!
I laughed like crazy at this episode. Some of the things I love best in JONAS were present: Nick’s tightly wound persona doing his slow burn, then running hilariously amok straight into Kevin’s guileless, sweetly eccentric attempts to help, with Joe’s stellar timing and spot on comedy sense providing the perfect foil for both his brothers.
Discussion after the jump!
[a/n: I’m in search of captures for this episode. As soon as I find them I will update with pictures.]
Complete Repeat makes use of a theatrical device called a conceit. “Conceit” refers to something, which is devised or contrived to stretch reality and take advantage of a “suspension of disbelief.” Whenever audiences sit through a piece of theatre they are willingly suspending their disbelief: both the actors and the audience knows that what takes places on stage is not really happening, but everyone participates, either actively or passively, in the unfolding events as if they are in fact reality. In tonight’s Episode of JONAS, Nick was having writer’s block, but thought he had dreamed a song that he couldn’t remember. Kevin suggested that reliving his previous, terrible, day in its entirety would make him have the same dream again. So Nick agrees. Nick’s writer’s block, Kevin’s plan to solve it and Nick’s undertaking to relive his day is the conceit. We suspend our disbelief in the ridiculousness of Kevin’s idea (as everyone says, he was bound to have a good one eventually) and watch Nick suffer through his hazardous day again. Hilarity, of course, ensues. When the crazy dream-remembering scheme does in fact work, but it turns out the song was not new, but a cereal commercial, Nick gets very angry. His anger breaks his writer’s block and he writes a song.
There were so many great moments tonight I’m hard pressed to single out some favorites, but I’ll try. I loved Kevin trying not to mention the new song to Nick, but naturally being completely unable to stop mentioning it with every utterance; Nick having named his guitar Lucille Jr.; Dad saying “You’re my son again!” when he thinks Nick has written something; Joe: “We can just find different jobs, like a stunt man or a hand model…”; Nick losing it when he realizes that his awesome song is actually the Crunchy Cats jingle.
What about you, Revelers? What parts of tonight’s show would you like to déjà vu?

Underwear? did I miss something?
In the very opening scene, when Nick says he had a dream about the new song, Joe asks if they were all wearing underwear and birthday hats, and Kevin says “Were you wearing that too?”
Yeah, the underwear & party hat image….woo, haha.
oh, ah ha. Yes I remember now.
I have really, really loved these last two episodes. They have instantly become my favorites. Things that stand-out from this episode:
-I loved Nick yelling “Stelllllllllaaaa” in the hallway.
-I also think Nick did a fantastic job at acting all flustered and irritated. SO proud of him.
-Joe acting all calm and cool when Nick can’t remember the song from the dream and says that their dad doesn’t know how to chill out, but then proceeds to freak out himself.
-Kevin smiling while he walks around with his foot cemented in the bucket, and enjoying it a little too much!
-The guys “calming music” was hilarious.
Did the opening concert scene remind anyone else of Hannah Montana? I think a lot of her shows open the same way. I didn’t like that too much. And I still think the dad looks a bit too young to play their dad. I still find it hard to buy that. He just seems like the quirky manager type…who is not a dad. But overall, this episode was awesome!
woah, these new smiley icons are a bit scary. haha.
Oh this episode, like all of the others, was full of win. I just loved their idea of a relaxation cd. Too cute.
Nick was great in this episode- I was so impressed. You can tell by the hair that this episode was filmed later than the others- it really shows. They all seemed so much more comfortable.
Did you catch when Joe said to Nick, “Goodnight and godbye”?! Awesome!
Oh yes, when Kevin couldn’t stop saying ‘new song’…I seriously LOL’ed at that.
Thanks, Tlatz – yes, the ‘calming music’. That was great!
And as I pointed out in the last thread, Joe sending the towel via rescue truck complete with sirens was a riot!
Kevin once again wins for having the best line of the episode – after Joe tells Frankie that he is ‘Plan B,’ Kevin pipes up with ‘Maybe Plan C’ Loved that!
Also loved Kevin’s ‘What makes the worst day ever? Let’s reflect!’
His delivery is always so perfect.
Did you notice in the short scene that Frankie was in (breakfast) that he has a Horace Mantis Academy blazer? There must be an elementary school!
I noticed that and wondered the same thing! For a second I even foolishly hoped there would be a line of dialogue about it.
LOVED THAT! The uniforms totally get me.
Speaking of Horace Mantis…did you guys see the pic of Joe working out in a HM t-shirt? Sorry I don’t have a link, my daughter ran across it somewhere.
I absolutely loved this episode! Definitely one of the highlights this season. I was particularly impressed (and amused) by the faces all the boys pulled in this episode. with Nick’s physical comedy in this episode. There were so many pitch-perfect moments: Nick’s smirk after he confesses he’s wearing Kevin’s lucky loafers, Kevin’s mortified expression complete with closed eyes and a covered-up mouth when he can’t stop saying “new song,” Joe’s unholy grimace when Nick stresses he really has lost the song (IT CAN’T BE GONE!!!”).
“Kevin’s guileless, sweetly eccentric attempts to help” — Absolutely, coolmoom. This alone is enough reason for me to want a pocket-sized Kevin to cheer me up on terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad days.
I know, isn’t he completely huggable? Kevin = ♥
Have you guys watched HM lately? Last night’s hour long episode was kind of like JONAS in the way they used Jason Earles and Moises Arias. It did NOT appeal to me. But Jason and Mitchel Musso (much as he cannot sing) are the best parts of HM now.
that was torture to me although it made my daughter laugh and guess how they would come out next. I can’t get over the poor quality of the writing in that episode.
A great episode..I always laugh when I’m watching and find a day or 2 later I am still thinikng about the funny parts.
I loved when they were trying to get the sweater from Stella. They all work really well together.
Also I said it on the other thread but my favorite part is when they are in the elevator explaining to the girl that she misunderstood Nick and he puts his hand sort of near his chest like he’s saying, “I would never do that.” so cute.
I can’t actually believe we’re not getting any new episodes though. I love to end my week with them!
I think I share favorite moments with many of you, but I will mention them still:
Kevin – “I love spackle!” and “That lemur was sure surprised to see me again!”
Joe sending the resuce truck with the towel. I LOLed and then had to rewind it to show my daughter just what Joe had done.
Nick – I loved everything he did in this episode., but I think my faovire line was: “Well, I am 16, I have had a good run.” But I can’t leave out “She did NOT understand,” when he was covered in purple goo.
“Nick out; Frankie in.” That whole bit was great.
May I say that I love how Keivn plays guitar in this show? I mean, I always love how Kevin plays gitar, but he really gets to show off his solo skills. It is swoon-worthy.
I find myself eschewing other TV shows to watch JONAS again and again.
What? You mean there are other shows on TV?
“I love spackle.” lol Kevin is amazing. This episode was so much fun, and so funny. Poor Nick was looking pitiful throughout but I love how he lets out this side of his personality. He’s not all serious all the time and that’s why I loved this episode so much.
And “Nick out, Frankie in” made me laugh, as well as Kevin’s hesitancy. Frankie is too cute. He takes after his brothers all to well.
And that last line should read “all too well”.
Stupid typos.
