June 30, 2009 by cpaig

jbworldtourweek2
This week is all about Canada! Well… Canada and the good ol’ U. S. of A.!

(OK, so I know I was not so great with updates last week – and the post was kinda trumped by Rolling Stone, and Nick J. I promise to be better, but if the tweets get too overwhelming I will just do highlights.)

Follow along as they continue to tour…

…and GET ENGAGED…

so if you heard me say my dh got a new job it’s with the publisher of Good Housekeeping and 17. Yep, AFTER the Jbs are on the cover of both which is kind of typical timing for our family :)
so we can’t enter any contests either….

      • on July 1, 2009 at 8:52 am mememoi

That’s awesome! Who knows, you lose the contests but it might connect you with some other opportunity at some point! *fingers crossed*

      • on July 1, 2009 at 9:10 am Sonnnn

Awesome! Congrats to your DH! What does he do?

    • on July 1, 2009 at 9:35 am merry27

he’s in publishing and honestly since we came back from Japan 9 years ago (!) he hasn’t had the right job. Now he’s back on the international travel circuit (Asia) so even though he’ll be away from home we all feel better about it.
And when he was interviewing he actually took a risk by asking for an advance copy of GH and the guy said, “Sure, we’ve got plenty.” but of course they got sidetracked and he let it go.
      so we’ll see…

      • on July 1, 2009 at 9:44 pm Sonnnn

he rocks! Can’t believe he asked for a copy. That’s awesome.

I have a copy from my MIL, and my friend has two more for me. LOL I guess I can make a collage? Hilarious.

  2. on June 30, 2009 at 9:27 pm coolmom823

You are so right, Ryan Liestman, Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities anywhere. I had the best vacation there many years ago, and would LOVE to go back. I envy all of them getting to spend time there.

    Canada Rocks!

    The shirts are awesome!

Did you also see on Zazzle the LVATT shirt (NIck’s) with the back quote?

how awesome is Nick’s GOLD shirt for LVATT? I am a sucker for gold. ANd I have never seen Nick in metallics, swoon. :)

  6. on July 1, 2009 at 1:30 am Sonnnn

apparently Nick is going to be on the dLife TV Show on CNBC on Sunday July 19. This is according to his blog on his Simple Wins Web site.

    http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowContent/dlife_media/tv/As_seen_on_TV_index.html

It’s not yet on the dLife.com Web site but Nick must know his own schedule, right? LOL

  7. on July 1, 2009 at 1:32 am Sonnnn

BTW I’m working on that Jonas Brothers schedule for 2009 – anything we know that they are involved in.

  8. on July 1, 2009 at 8:49 am merry27

I’m feeling a bit disconnected from this portion of the tour and I’m not sure why.
When they were overseas or in South America they seemed to be everywhere, on radio stations, tv shows but here they seem to be slipping in and out.
Which is fine..it should be all about the shows but it’s just a weird feeling.
Did you read that the tour buses got held up at the border so they didn’t actually hit the stage until 9:30 the first night?
Also at that show they set up the sound check in a small room at the venue because the stage wasn’t ready yet.

    • on July 1, 2009 at 8:52 am mememoi

I heard that!!! It sounded awesome, actually, those lucky fans. They were like, singing with them, hugging them – more access than the average soundcheck, it sounded like. Oh man!!! LOL. :)

      • on July 1, 2009 at 9:38 am merry27

I know..it sounded more like an actual concert than a soundcheck. Luckies!!

Now that it’s July it feels so close…

    • on July 1, 2009 at 9:11 am Sonnnn

Ha ha, the timing was late, like a grown-up concert! ;)

      • on July 1, 2009 at 9:39 am merry27

yeah I guess some parents were not happy but what are you gonna do?
Hopefully it’s all sorted out. The idea of them stopping JB trucks is kind of amusing..

  9. on July 1, 2009 at 10:36 am coolmom823

Ladies, here’s a piece from the Vancouver paper about the impromptu accoustic concert, lol!

  10. on July 1, 2009 at 1:23 pm coolmom823

OT but too hilarious not to share.

Michigan’s own Ted Nugent, that slightly-to-the-left-of-Attila the Hun rabble- rouser-rocker, is a (almost) a discerning type! Who knew!

    http://www.spinner.com/2009/07/01/ted-nugent-is-moved-by-the-jonas-brothers/

    ;)

    • on July 1, 2009 at 1:40 pm Trish

Ha! That’s a pretty good compliment. “They play with soul…”

    • on July 1, 2009 at 1:50 pm mememoi

LOL@ “slightly to the left of “Attila the Hun”!! (Though if the Night at the Museum is too be believed, Nugent is more merciless than even Attila). And he called Green Day “chimp-like”…hahahaha.

But it is a fantastic compliment! Soul, authority, chops?! Damn skippy!

We’ve got Nugent…and the pretty lefty Billy Corgan also thinks they’re the real deal, according to Politico online.

OK, everyone in between, fall in line!!

    • on July 1, 2009 at 9:45 pm Sonnnn

      I love Ted Nugent!

      • on July 1, 2009 at 9:49 pm Sonnnn

The Green Day analysis is hilarious as well.

  11. on July 1, 2009 at 6:40 pm Jan

Woo-hoo!!! KEVIN IS ENGAGED!!!!! I saw it on nickjonline that got it from People. He asked Danielle this morning, and she said yes! (She’s no fool.)

    • on July 1, 2009 at 6:48 pm Anna

OMG! I just saw the announcement from Kevin Sr&Denise about Kevin and Danielle getting married on the JB Myspace page. I am so happy for them :)

      • on July 1, 2009 at 6:56 pm cpaig

I am going to jump up and down. Will you join me?

I can’t wait for curly haired babies ….. not to rush them or anything – LOL!

        • on July 1, 2009 at 7:21 pm merry27

also jumping up and down and wiping away tears….just so happy for him. for them.
and he flew all the way back from Vancouver to NJ.
          wow!!
why do I feel like in a weird way Larry King helped out the cause?

          • on July 1, 2009 at 7:24 pm mollyanne1

I am too! I just don’t even know what to say! Commence jumping up and down! And YAY for curly haired babies!

        • on July 1, 2009 at 8:16 pm Anna

I’ve already been jumping for joy. I love Kanielle so much

    • on July 1, 2009 at 7:30 pm lenzmom

Woo-Hoo! I’m so excited for them. The timing was a huge surprise – flying across the country? Wow! Doing it big in a wonderfully romantic way. Jumping up and down here out West!

  12. on July 1, 2009 at 7:35 pm Jan

Yes, lots of jumping!! I guess we know now why Kevin was so forthcoming on Larry King’s show!

  13. on July 1, 2009 at 7:39 pm DaniLyn85

I am soooooo happy for them, I was tearing up as I was reading everyone’s tweets (and then the blog post and people.com). They are adorable and they are going to have some beautiful children. =)

  14. on July 1, 2009 at 7:50 pm Trish

OMG!!!!!!! I’m so happy for them!!!!!!! *SQUEE*

  15. on July 1, 2009 at 8:05 pm sharpld

SQUEEE!! Doing the muppet flail in Kevin and Danielle’s honor. The timing is a big surprise, but I couldn’t be happier for them.

Kevin strumming lullabies to curly-haired babies is now not such a misty dream. (credit coolmom for that image)

    *jump!jump!jump!

  16. on July 1, 2009 at 8:11 pm mememoi

Awwwwww….curly haired bebes being cuddled by Jonases. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

    • on July 1, 2009 at 8:11 pm mememoi

Though I guess I will get excited for the wedding and the young marriage first.

No pressure, Danielle, I swear! ;)

  17. on July 1, 2009 at 8:44 pm Elisa

I’m shocked!! Not that this wasn’t expected, but I really wasn’t expecting this kind of news today! :)

Awesome, I’m so happy for them…

    Loved Nick and Joe’s Tweet.

P.S. Oh how I love the second picture from Vancouver. Sigh! Thanks cpaig. ;)

  18. on July 1, 2009 at 8:51 pm coolmom823

Ahhhhh Kevin. Way to do it right sweetheart. :D

No rush or anything…but I will be thrilled when there are curly-haired babies!

    Kevin & Danielle = ♥ !

  19. on July 1, 2009 at 9:11 pm tlatzotzontli

    Congrats to Kevin and Danielle!

Me thinks that he had been seriously thinking about this for a while and that is why they were so open on Larry King. That way it wouldn’t be so out of the blue! ;)

I wish them much happiness. I think it’s really great that they posted on myspace and twitter and are willing to share the great news with fans. For some reason I thought they were childhood friends, but according to People they only met two years ago. And isn’t so sweet that he asked her out after meeting her and seeing her on the beach with a flower in he hair? Hasn’t Kevin ALWAYS described his “ideal” girl as someone who likes to dress up and add little touches like a flower in their hair?! Now we know where that comes from. SO CUTE.

    • on July 1, 2009 at 9:21 pm coolmom823

I’m with you tlatz. I thought something MUST be brewing when he was so forthcoming on Larry King.

  20. on July 1, 2009 at 9:33 pm Tiffany

Since I’m a girl, there’s nothing I love more than an adorable love story complete with a wedding. I’m just so excited!
I’m hoping the press doesn’t get on his case about ‘being too young’. We, of all people, know that JB is all about family, and the intense support of his family and friends just goes to show that he’s making a great decision and a well thought out one at that.
I can’t wait to see the youtube vids from their show tomorrow. I’m sure something will be brought up. Joe talked about potatoes at our show for heavens sake, I’m sure they’ll get some Kevin lovin’ for getting engaged!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 12:34 am gityofunon

Joe talked about potatoes?? I don’t get it…

      • on July 2, 2009 at 12:43 am coolmom823

Because it was in Idaho, I’m guessing? Idaho, potatoes?

        • on July 2, 2009 at 12:49 am gityofunon

          Ahhh… got it now.

  21. on July 1, 2009 at 9:54 pm Sonnnn

I’m so proud of our ladies here, handling this so well! Honestly girls, I am going to tell you now that when Joe gets engaged (no matter to whom) I am going to be a tad jealous. A little bit. I know, it’s stupid and unreasonable and weird and completely crazy. Just being honest…

But right now I am really happy for Kevin. He is very lucky – I have a feeling they are going to be married early next year and will probably have children sooner than later, and it’s great because they are young but luck is on their side because of their faith and their values – I think they are going to have a very lovely life just like Mama and Papa J. Ordinarily I’d be wary of getting married at 22 but in his case I am down with it. :)

And Mama and Papa J – they could have grandchildren by age 42, 43. It’s amazing. How wonderfully blessed are they. And Frankie! He could have tons of nieces and nephews in the next decade. How lucky is he!

And WE, the REVELERS – WE get a BONUS here TOO! All of our beautiful guys in TUXEDOS next year…and hopefully singing romantic songs…and maybe inviting Keith Urban and Brad Paisley to serenade the lovely bride and groom…

You can’t get more sentimental without being sappy than Keith and Brad, Kevin’s favorite country stars …

    Something for EVERYONE!

    • on July 1, 2009 at 10:24 pm mememoi

      It IS so nice.

I have always loved Kevin very much but I have no romantic jealousies where he is concerned. It’s platonic adoration!! :)

I will be the same about Nick, I am pretty sure.

No promises over Joe, though I try to tell myself to be reasonable and usually overcome those jealous twinges quickly. ;) I just keep telling myself there is My Own Personal Joe (or Greg!) for me out there somewhere….LOL.

      • on July 1, 2009 at 10:43 pm coolmom823

I had to wait a long time, and go through a whole miserable first marriage to get together with my wonderful hubby.

Oy, the frogs I kissed! Blech!!! :(

      • on July 1, 2009 at 11:30 pm thekeenanator

Not gonna lie, I am very jealous of Danielle. She is a very lucky girl. I have been praying to find my Kevin Jonas for a long time now and I know he’ll show up, but ya know how it is waiting for stuff like that. I do think they are a tad bit young. I mean I’m 22 and I can’t even think of getting married. I dunno. I wish them all the best though. Kevin is a great guy and Dani seems really sweet everyone loves her. So here’s to hopefully hearing about the wedding!!

    • on July 1, 2009 at 11:00 pm DaniLyn85

In 100% agreeance! I don’t know what it is about Joe, but I will be a little sad that day. lol

Love love love the two of them together. I was SO surprised to hear about this today. I know they’ve been togethere a little while and he was definitely more open on LKL, but I just wasn’t thinking it would be so soon!

The whole thing about him being young… His parents have proven that you can get married young and still have a successful relationship for many more years and I think that’s one of the things he’s thought about. I am just so thrilled for them!!!

Frankie is going to be a young uncle! lol I just want to fast-forward time for a second just to see their adorable babies!

I love how the mention of marriage has all of us revelers in a tizzy over babies! lol So wonderful. :)

    • on July 3, 2009 at 10:54 am Elisa

LOL, when I told my friends about the engagement (not that they’re that interested but I try to keep them in the loop anyway ;) ) I said something like, “Oh boy, I don’t know what I’m going to do when it’s Joe or Nick getting married…” I think I’m going to get a little jealous too :)

It’s crazy but that’s just the fangirl in us all, I guess! ;)

  22. on July 1, 2009 at 10:10 pm coolmom823

Well, I actually don’t see that Kevin’s marital status has to make that much of a difference to my fantasy life, lol! ;)

I’ve had the hots for LOTS of married celebrities over the years. :P

    • on July 1, 2009 at 10:11 pm Sonnnn

      True true Coolmom! Great point!

  23. on July 1, 2009 at 10:29 pm mykidsthinkimweird

You could have knocked me over with a feather. I’m not surprised in the least by the engagement, just the timing.

Hasn’t Kevin defended marrying young in the past? As a wife who married a 22 year old when I was 23, I can vouch for being young, naive, and in love – just celebrated our 20th anniversary! In these days of disposable marriages it may seem destined to fail, but Kevin appears to be a man of faith and integrity, and I am sure Danielle is the same or he wouldn’t be marrying her.

    CONGRATULATIONS DANIELLE AND KEVIN!

  24. on July 1, 2009 at 10:32 pm mememoi

Cpaig and I were talking about this a different way, too, just thoughts from our own experience.

I have to wonder how this will affect (or has affected) the younger boys at first. They will of course be loving and accepting and understanding, but this phase, sort of the official transition to adulthood (or at least for Kev, leaving the others “behind”) can be so tough for siblings in any circumstance. Change at this structural level when you’ve been so close is v. difficult!

At least we had some experience of this in our own family of 3 relatively close – but surely less than the JBs – sisters…So, be strong, lil brothers! ;)

& again- Yay for Kevin & Danielle!

    • on July 1, 2009 at 10:54 pm mykidsthinkimweird

When my older sister got married (I was 16; she was 23) I really enjoyed hanging with her and her husband at their house. I spent a lot of time there not only because I really liked them, but because there was a relaxed freedom there I didn’t feel at home. It was a home away from home for me. I remember that sweet time fondly especially since my brother-in-law passed away.

I think this could be a real positive for Joe and Nick.

      • on July 1, 2009 at 11:09 pm mememoi

Awww, that makes me feel better. :)

      • on July 1, 2009 at 11:09 pm mykidsthinkimweird

        Oops, Frankie too!

  25. on July 1, 2009 at 11:04 pm DaniLyn85

P.S.- I love that “…and GET ENGAGED…” before the jump! lol

    • on July 1, 2009 at 11:09 pm mememoi

      Heehee, had to add that!

  26. on July 1, 2009 at 11:29 pm Mae

AW YAY so exciting for the two of them ;)

Hearing about 20-21-22 year olds getting engaged makes me feel really old and behind the curve. And really it shouldn’t because I really can’t imagine getting married until my late 20’s – more likely around 30 so hearing about Kevin getting engaged at 21 freaks me out (in relation to myself..if that makes sense – at 21 I was still such a kid) but if they are ready to make that commitment, I’m thrilled for them. I’m sure it will be nice for Kevin to have Danielle on the road with him all the time. I wonder how long of an engagement it will be…

mememoi, you and cpaig bring up an interesting point about how Joe and Nick will react to Kevin’s engagement. I’m sure Danielle (or Dani as Joe and Nick called her in their tweet) is already super tight with the family. When my older brother got engaged, my now sister-in-law had already spent so much time with our family that she really was already one of us. But it will be interesting with the brothers because they do seem so much closer than any typical siblings.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 1:07 am tlatzotzontli

I know what you mean about freaking out a little bit, Mae. My friend and I were talking about that and how we always feel weird when we hear about people we went to high school with are getting married and having kids. We felt the same about Kevin’s news. But everyone’s different and K & D’s situation seems extremely genuine and they have a good support system.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:50 am mememoi

That’s true, Mae, about the sibling adjustment. They have probably already gone through it and gotten past it and she IS like family by now.

We were just playing armchair psychologists, and remembering watching the shifts in their relationships as bros over the past couple of years…At least as it showed through the (copious!!) interviews we’ve seen them in.

We just sensed that at some point it might have been hard for Joe to “lose” Kevin to a relationship that was for real. They seemed so Tweedledum & Tweedledee in the early days…LOL. And then there seemed to be some angst and tension there for a bit, and then Joe seemed to shift to closeness with Nick. Anyway, I am sure if there is any truth to any of this theory, hopefully they are well over it! :)

  27. on July 1, 2009 at 11:38 pm Monica

Wow, I’m so shocked but so, so happy for Kevin! The whole story, flying across the country, getting down on one knee….it’s just so storybook romantic. I immediately thought about kids for them and how I bet Denise is saying “give me a grandDAUGHTER, please!!!” My girls and I were cracking up that almost everyone has an Uncle Joe. I have a silly sort of happy for the whole family right now!

And back to Ted Nugent….my 48 year old cousin is a HUGE fan of his, belongs to his fan club and has seen him in concert countless times. I can’t WAIT to have a discussion with him about how his idol thinks JB plays with soul and has “chops”. Oh, I can’t wait!!!

    • on July 1, 2009 at 11:40 pm coolmom823

      Re Nuge:

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:45 am mememoi

I cannot wait to hear what your cousin says about that!!!

  28. on July 2, 2009 at 12:18 am Tiffany

I hope Kev and Danielle choose to live close to the family. That’s gotta be a hard choice for them with her family in Jersey and his, well, everywhere.
I liked how the tweet said ‘can’t wait for you to join us on the road’. I guess that put to rest the rumors of a break up b/c of Kevin getting married.

  29. on July 2, 2009 at 12:47 am gityofunon

I really can’t add anything new to the discussion, but I just wanna say that I’m pleased and praying for Kevin and Danielle. I hope that once they’re married they’ll be given enough privacy by the media and some of their, ehm, particularly enthusiastic fans to really enjoy their time as newlyweds.
I’ve never been married, nothing close, but I understand that it’s hard work and can get tainted by too much scrutiny, too many outside influences.

Also, I hope they don’t have babies toooo soon. There’s time for all that!

  30. on July 2, 2009 at 12:59 am gityofunon

Random funny thought: I don’t think I’d have words for how amused I’d be if, during the JBs next live television performance, someone took a note from That Thing You Do and scrolled “Careful girls, he’s engaged” across the bottom of the screen underneath Kevin’s face.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 4:55 pm Jan

That was a homage to the Beatles. When they were on Ed Sullivan in February 1964, they put: Sorry, girls! He’s married” under John Lennon.

  31. on July 2, 2009 at 5:28 am Anna

Ya know, while everyone is expousing the jealously they will feel when this is Joe and Nick, I will be the one here saying thats how I feel about Kevin. No matter how much I love Danielle and thank God he choose her, I still have a “I wish it were me” thing going on. I have hated some of the things I have been readin over the internet about how they are saying, “at least it s not Joe or Nick”. What is Kevin, chopped liver? Even though I am glad he is getting a lot of support in this decision to marry Danielle, it would still be nice if some fangirlss expressed a little jealousy over this

    • on July 2, 2009 at 6:56 am cpaig

I am sure there are lots of girls who are crushed.

For me, it is so obvious that they love each other – and the proposal was so romantic (way to go Kevin!) I can’t help but feel really happy for them.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 8:45 am coolmom823

I’ve read plenty of wailing and knashing of teeth comments from fans all over!

I’m sure lots of girls are jealous, whether they admit it or not!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:23 am mememoi

I can’t be jealous, I have a crush on his brother…that’d just be creepy!

      Just kidding, Anna. ;)

I have seen lots and lots of crushed comments, and “wish it were me”s. And I agree…some of the younger, fickle fangirls are just hiding their disappointment by shifting favorites now that Kev-o is going off the market.

But, my God, the prospect of Kevin as an officially impending husband and daddy is just nothing but exciting, to me. I feel pretty honored to be witnessing this exciting time in their lives!

I am glad he didn’t let all this fame and frenzy force him to wait.

    • on July 5, 2009 at 12:08 am Sonnnn

Yeah, me, I’ll be jealous when it comes to Nick and Joe. Illogical and ridiculous as that is. But I also hope I will look at it a little like I look at Kevin and Danielle.

I am jealous of Mama and Papa J more than anyone! They are such great parents. They are going to have an even more wonderful family now. THey can easily have great grandkids. It’s so exciting to think about it.

I started a little late for great grandkids but I certainly want grandkids.

ANd most of all, I’m SO GLAD that Kevin is doing with his personal life what he would have done had he still been in Wyckoff and attending the Assembly of God there each week. Dating with the intention to marry and getting engaged after 2 years. Hollywood did not change him. This is what I respect the very most.

  32. on July 2, 2009 at 8:30 am merry27

awww I love the “get engaged” addition to the post.
It’s always great to get on here and read everyone’s thoughts about marriage.
I found Joe and Nick’s tweet about “joining them on tour” to be interesting. I guess because I just assumed that she travelled with them a lot since I’ve seen her at their hotel here and of course she’s at so many concerts. I like to think he just couldn’t bear the thought of touring without her and knew the only way it would happen was an engagement and since he was planning it anyway why not now? They can be together for what must be a grind at times.

Also was fascinated by Miley’s tweet as she only mentioned Kevin and not Danielle.
anyway still have a glow about it all. Sweet Kevin! awesome.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 8:43 am coolmom823

That’s a lovely way to think of it merry.

I’ll bet she was with them for East coast things mostly. Now they can hang all the time!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 8:49 am coolmom823

Per Miss Manners, congratulations should only be offered to the man in an engagement, it’s considered bad form to “congratulate” a lady for landing a husband.

Now, nobody actually follows this, and the idea of Miley knowing it and following it is maybe ludicrous… ;)

      But, I wondered why also.

      • on July 2, 2009 at 9:23 am cpaig

I like manners and all, but I tend to buck them when it comes to gender conventions.

        CONGRATULATIONS DANIELLE!!!!

Why would a man be congratulated for landing a wife?

This is one of the places where my inner “Ms.” really comes out.

Don’t get me started on the topic of being called Mrs. “Husbands Name” – I hate it – even when convention calls for it.

I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.

I have even considered changing my name back to my real name. Since my dad died I have even unofficially hyphenated my name.

I have been married for 9 years, BTW.

I think they are young (and being a woman who was married young (I was 24 and my hubby was 22) young marriage usually makes me cringe. But not this one. Because all of the reasons you should wait to get married don’t apply to Kevin. He has a great job, a bright future, he has traveled the world, had his heart broken, he has tons of responsibility, and he is mature beyond his years.

So I say go for it and best wishes!

        Uhhh… I think I may need more tea….

        • on July 2, 2009 at 9:30 am mollyanne

I totally agree about those reasons not applying to Kevin. You’re absolutely right!

        • on July 2, 2009 at 9:44 am mememoi

          A-men.

        • on July 2, 2009 at 9:56 am merry27

cpaig in so many other cultures (like Japan) that’s the way it’s done. the partner that wants or needs to carry on their family name does it. In most cases it’s the woman.
I still have my maiden name on my credit cards..I just like seeing it. But it just seemed easier to switch it all over at the time.

          love your “inner Ms” btw!!

        • on July 2, 2009 at 10:27 am coolmom823

I eschew such outdated conventions also, and I proudly kept my name when I married cooldad!

          • on July 2, 2009 at 10:29 am coolmom823

Not that it’s not awesome to take your husband’s name also! It should be a personal choice, not a dictated one, IMO.

      • on July 2, 2009 at 9:50 am merry27

I didn’t know that…thx coolmom! I’m willing to give Miley the benefit of the doubt. also if Kevin and Danielle have only been together for 2 years it’s possible she never met her and feels like she only knows Kevin. But a tiny part of me thinks she’s kind of dreaming of that day too since she’s mentioned it before. :)

  33. on July 2, 2009 at 8:57 am coolmom823

    AM Conversation with cooldad:

coolmom: Did you know Kevin Jonas got engaged?

cooldad: Is he the oldest one? The one with the goofy sideburns?

    coolmom: They’re not goofy!

cooldad: I thought maybe he was Amish.

    LOL! :P

I guess I should count it as a victory that he knew he was the eldest?? ;) cooldad as potential fan = fail!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:05 am mememoi

I don’t buy it. Cooldad is playing coy!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:16 am mollyanne

LOL! Coolmom that is too funny. I was so excited yesterday and when I got home from Target I called Zane and we had a similar conversation.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 10:00 am merry27

      Amish! so funny :)
my husband does this too (acts like he doesn’t know which Jonas is which) and it always makes me laugh but my daughter..not so much. His joking always brings out the eye rolling teen.

  34. on July 2, 2009 at 9:23 am mollyanne

I’m still over the moon about this whole thing! I could not be happier for them- they are going to have such a beautiful life together.

Sondra- you won’t be alone. I will also feel a twinge of jealousy when Joe gets engaged. Call me crazy.

Mememoi- LOL about Greg. Will you be joining in on the catfight between Tiffany and I? ;)

I’ve gotta say, I am not at all surprised about any of it- the timing or the fact that it happened. All of this talk of them taking a break after this tour ends had me thinking that they would likely be getting married when this tour is over. I actually expected him to propose before the tour started, when they had that small break. I was shocked that it didn’t happen then! I follow People Mag on twitter and they sent out a tweet yesterday afternoon saying that there was a celeb engaged and to stay tuned to find out whom. I just knew it- I had a gut feeling about it.

I agree with what everyone said- while 21 is very young to be engaged, I think it’s great for Kevin and Danielle. They have a wonderful support system and they have such faith and values. Mama and Papa J have set a wonderful example of what a healthy and faith based marriage is.

I have to admit that I teared up at Joe and Nick’s tweet and then the waterworks really started when I imagined them as uncles.

I have to wonder now what will happen next year. How long of a break they will take, how long it will be until we get new material from them. Probably awhile- I want K&D to have time to themselves to enjoy being newlyweds. But at the same time, I’m really going to miss hearing from the boys all the time. I think they are slowly starting to prepare us for a long break now- but it will still be sad.

    *still dancing!*

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:36 am mememoi

Yes, uncles!!!!…carrying around sweet, chubby, curly-haired mini-Kevins! LOL.

We were recently talking about this…the Jonas family is going to sell quite a few stacks of super special edition People Magazine family albums over the coming years.

I will totes be in line for them all. :)

RE: Greg…not gonna lie that he’s my #2 Jonas crush…awwkward! LOL. But he is just TOO handsome, that rhythm on bass, his mind and humor seem so lovely, – what girl among us could be immune?!

Though he had some mystery tweets a while back, on break, and Cpaig & I were wondering if he was going to have an announcement of his own…we were wrong for now. :)

      • on July 2, 2009 at 9:48 am mollyanne

GAH! Chubby mini-Kevins! I love it.

It’s ok mememoi, he’s my #2 Jonas crush as well. :) Hmm I sort of remember his mystery tweets! I wonder!!

      • on July 2, 2009 at 10:20 am coolmom823

        Awwwwww! Chubby, curly-haired mini-Kevins!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ !

      • on July 2, 2009 at 12:37 pm Trish

Count me in as one of those in line for Greg! I’d like to think I have a pretty fair shot since I am already used to catering to the peanut-free lifestyle. ;) LOL!

      • on July 5, 2009 at 12:12 am Sonnnn

I know! He was tweeting pics of his GF a lot for a while right? and now we’ve heard nothing recently…

  35. on July 2, 2009 at 9:33 am mollyanne

I think I’m still in shock that they announced it at all. I mean, I’m thrilled that they did but on the day it happened? And they actually spoke to People Mag about it and dished the details of how they met. I’m loving this new PR direction they are going in.

I loved hearing the details of how they met- it’s so sweet. It’s so great that we actually know something about her now, other than the fact that she’s also from Jersey. I was under the impression that they had known each other for a loooooooong time though- I’m so surprised that they only met two years ago! Too cute.

  36. on July 2, 2009 at 9:42 am mememoi

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how fans react…

I think it is wonderful they seem to be trying hard not to let the typical teen idol standards and fears dictate their lives, at least not anymore. No one should be expected to live that way. Especially since the objective of that tactic is, basically, to make a buck. I am glad to see them beginning to reject that approach.

And if this type of thing strips off fans who just want to see the Boys as available for marriage…well then it can only benefit the Jonases as a band. No?

    • on July 2, 2009 at 10:21 am coolmom823

      Right on mememoi!!!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 10:32 am mollyanne

      Exactly! Right on!

  37. on July 2, 2009 at 10:07 am merry27

After a quick glance on Team Jonas it seems most fans are pretty happy for Kevin. But there seems to be a concern that the band is breaking up which seems like a typically immature reaction.

And I agree…you can’t live your life for the fans or what you think fans want or need. That’s why so many young stars fail because the reality of who they are is nowhere near their real selves. Like Britney Spears.

    So again, a Jonas win.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 10:22 am coolmom823

      Well put merry! :)

    • on July 2, 2009 at 11:09 am Mae

merry, I did some lurking and saw the same reaction about how Kevin’s engagement is another sign that the band will be ending soon – that combined with rumors of a Nick solo album next year. There was a lot of jumping to conclusions.

Anyone else hear this? I saw it on JonasHQ like last week and although they were saying it was only a rumor they were saying that they had reliable sources.

I’m not too sure how I would feel about a Nick solo album. I would love to hear it one day (say in a few more years) but right now a Nick solo album seems somewhat premature.

      • on July 2, 2009 at 11:25 am mememoi

Huh? Interesting. What is the difference between “end” and “slowing down” though? Bands seem to keep going over so many years now…even the ones that aren’t related to each other, long breaks and all.

But…I’ve gotta say, I would be uncomfortable if there was a solo Nick album within the next year. That is just me personally.

Really, I am still holding out for the 3-disc triple solo album collection with one CD featuring each bro doing his own style. LOL. ;)

        • on July 2, 2009 at 11:34 am sharpld

Three-disc-triple-solo album? What a great idea! I would buy it in a heartbeat! *Are you reading Guys? Greg? Anyone?*

          • on July 2, 2009 at 11:57 am Tiffany

I love this idea. But then again, I love all ideas that involve new Jonas songs….

  38. on July 2, 2009 at 10:24 am coolmom823

The Jonas Brothers are all about family. What they are doing is openly making Danielle a part of the Jonas Family, and trusting that the core of true-blue fans will embrace her as a family member.

    To quote Kevin: “Awesome!” ;)

    • on July 2, 2009 at 11:00 am merry27

and that’s the part that I think makes most people jealous…because who wouldn’t want to be part of that family? I’m also happy for Denise.
My SIL has 3 boys and she was so happy when her eldest got married cause she said she loved to hear her giggles around the house.

      • on July 2, 2009 at 11:07 am coolmom823

Yay for more estrogen in the Jonas mix! :)

        • on July 2, 2009 at 11:21 am mememoi

I am sure I have said it before but I think it would be hilarious if the Jonas boys only had daughters, and would therefore be guaranteed to never be free of screeching girls clamoring after them, for the rest of their lives.

          • on July 2, 2009 at 11:31 am sharpld

Yep. That would be poetic justice (or injustice), wouldn’t it?

          • on July 2, 2009 at 12:00 pm Trish

            LOL!!! :)

      • on July 2, 2009 at 11:30 am sharpld

My DH is the eldest of three boys. I was the first DIL. My MIL was thrilled. All three boys are married now and MIL has four graddaughters to spoil. No grandsons. She says in some ways she is glad she got her grils this way because she gets to enjoy us all and not have to worry so much about the parenting part.

I hope Mama Jonas gets as many girls as she wants to sopil and love.

  39. on July 2, 2009 at 11:59 am Trish

Hello ladies! My daughter and I rejoiced in the news by watching the JBCE movie late into the night. We’re still freaking out and so excited this morning!

I figured the timing of this couldn’t be better. Danielle can immerse herself in planning the wedding while the tour is going on, they can get married the first of the year, have a few months ‘alone’ and then tour again next summer – voila! I’ve planned out their lives! LOL!

I’m assuming Danielle will be taking his last name. Who would refuse the last name Jonas?! :)

Perhaps they are trying this new method of flying to destinations instead of tour buses to “try out” how this would work with a wife…? KWIM? Seems it would take a lot of the stress of traveling away, yet still a way to be able to perform for the fans.

I’ve yet to hear the rumors about Nick’s solo CD. That is more disturbing to me than any wedding announcement!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 12:39 pm mememoi

“Disturbing” is a good way to put it!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 7:15 pm tlatzotzontli

Your plan is perfect Trish! The boys could totally be on tour again next summer. :)

  40. on July 2, 2009 at 12:47 pm coolmom823

By the way, I’d like to see the “rock”! Anyone else like a gander? C’mon, you know you want to! ;)

  41. on July 2, 2009 at 3:06 pm sharpld

An article about the rign is on MTV Buzzworthy. It is quite sparkly.

  42. on July 2, 2009 at 3:19 pm coolmom823

    Saw the ring! It’s a beauty! :D

  43. on July 2, 2009 at 4:53 pm Jan

Yes! The ring is on Just Jared. It’s gorgeous!!!

  44. on July 2, 2009 at 7:29 pm tlatzotzontli

Kinda random, but look at this: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=21837557

It’s like the bag at Walmart! I’m sure it’s at a much lower price at Walmart, but the one on Etsy is pretty cool too. There’s other JB ones on there with different magazine covers.

    • on July 2, 2009 at 8:50 pm mememoi

Wow – all the stuff from this seller is awesome…I want like ten of these bags, LOL.

  45. on July 2, 2009 at 9:22 pm Mae

I’m going to be random too tlatzotzontli.

Has anyone else seen this clip from a video on Larry King’s website? From about 1:02 – 1:17 is Joe singing/playing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” on the ukulele. I didn’t recognize it at all at first!

Geez Joe! What I wouldn’t pay to hear the whole thing!!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 9:43 pm mememoi

Awww – & he’s doing the uberawesome IZ version!!!!

      *Sigh*

This vid is chockful of Joe awesomeness. Needed that. Thanks, Mae. :)

      • on July 2, 2009 at 10:05 pm Trish

I watched the video on another site earlier and didn’t even catch it. I was too busy staring to listen!

    • on July 2, 2009 at 11:20 pm gityofunon

Joe singing “Over the Rainbow” on the ukulele? YES, PLEASE.

And oh how I loved the bit about Nick and Joe talking way into the a.m. I’ve heard them say similar things before but I never cease to wonder what those conversations must be like.

    • on July 3, 2009 at 11:32 am Elisa

Ohh I loved that! I wouldn’t have recognized the song if you hadn’t said what it was…

Lol @ “Feel better… Don’t pass out again!”

  46. on July 2, 2009 at 10:06 pm Trish

Kevin Jonas is the #3 top searched topic on Yahoo. :)

    • on July 2, 2009 at 10:28 pm tlatzotzontli

That’s awesome! Did he end up trending on Twitter yesterday?

    • on July 2, 2009 at 11:27 pm gityofunon

That is awesome. I’m so happy he’s been receiving his own spotlight outside the realm of the fandom. People usually focus on Nick and/or Joe. It’s even better that it’s for such a joyous occasion.

  47. on July 3, 2009 at 1:14 pm sharpld

Revelers, I think I have finally had my Joe-stubble moment with Kevin. I am so happy for Kevin and Danielle, but the sadness hit today. From here it all changes, not in a bad way, but it changes.

The Guys won’t all live under the same roof anymore. They won’t be such a constant presence in each other’s daily lives. The family is growing, but now Kevin starts his own family. I wondered how their self-individuation would happen, considering the brothers have lived the same life for so long and I guess this is it. It is bittersweet.

So I am still dancing today, but it is a slow dance.

    • on July 3, 2009 at 3:24 pm Trish

I’m still trying not to think about that. :(
But I would bet a million bucks that Kevin & Danielle will have a home in the same subdivision. I honestly think they WILL be a constant presence on a daily basis, just not 24/7.
Even when my sister got married and moved out and across town, we still talked every single day, sometimes multiple times per day – and we didn’t even have a band! LOL!
When you are really close, you just make that time and manage.
Besides, the three of them being together, it’s like…their job. They *have* to be and they will be. (I have to believe that or I will lose what sanity I have left… ;) )

I particularly like this quote from the Salt Lake City article:

Joe: “I think for us our faith comes first and it always has.”

    • on July 6, 2009 at 12:45 am Trish

I was happy when I read that as well. That was a great little piece that was sorely needed. There seems to be so much drama in the Jonasphere the last few days… I think everyone can relax now.

      • on July 6, 2009 at 9:10 am mememoi

All the furor must have gone right over my head!! All over the hiatus/solo album rumors, huh?

  55. on July 5, 2009 at 11:43 pm Sonnnn

    This one is funny:

Nick: “I have a goal to become president one day. So we’re big fans of America.”

    • on July 6, 2009 at 7:18 am merry27

      Big fans of America…so cute!

  56. on July 6, 2009 at 12:56 am Trish

Where is everybody?!…I need to squee over the new JONAS episode!

How adorable was that?! Aww, Nick! He was so darling, I just wanted to hold him….in a *motherly* way of course! ;) LOL!

Angry!Nick & the song was just terrific. And Crunchy Cats, they should really come out with that cereal. Joe sending the towel with the rescue truck was hysterical!

They just never cease to amaze me.

BTW, that Bulldozer video FREAKED ME OUT. I actually gasped at first thinking it was the real deal when it said “Coming in 2009″. LOL!!!! :)

    • on July 6, 2009 at 7:01 am merry27

I watched but didn’t get a chance to squeee…holiday weekend and all.
But Nick is so adorable! There were so many cute parts in this one. Definitely loved when Joe sent the towel, and when they were trying to get the sweater from Stella.
My favorite little moment was when all 3 were in the elevator explaining to the whole thing to the girl and Nick sort of puts his hand on his chest to kind of affirm what they’re saying.
Not as lol funny as last week to me but still a good one.

Don’t forget to watch Regis and Kelly today for that taped performance…

    • on July 6, 2009 at 12:44 pm Sonnnn

OH MY GOD it was incredible last night. I heart Nick. Any emotion whatsoever.

  57. on July 6, 2009 at 9:43 am coolmom823

Working on a JONAS post Revelers! Just waiting on some pics!

  58. on July 6, 2009 at 12:47 pm Sonnnn

I only got to watch once so far. But I absolutely love the line “I’m 16. Well it was a good run.”

And I love the opening of the show where they are on stage – the show really represents all the pieces of their life so well. And Nick freaking out over not being able to write 40 songs a day. LOL

That poor girl in the elevator. But still, she got to ask him out! How cool is that.

  59. on July 11, 2009 at 11:17 pm Suzanne
