Thank You, Lima, Peru For The Incredibly Warm Welcome! [Read]

May 17, 2009 by cpaig

perujb2009

The Guys (all of them) are in Peru!

How awesome is that?!

They have a show there on Monday and Tuesday, and then they go on to Chile, Argentina, and Brazil before they head back over to Europe for a spell.

They are blogging, and twittering (and generally giving us lots of great content to aggregate).  W00t!

We just arrived in Peru this afternoon and it is already amazing.  We are looking out the window of our hotel and looking at a truly beautiful country.

There are thousands of fans outside the hotel.  The police were called in to control the crowd.  It is unbelievable to hear the fans in a country we have never visited before.  Thank you Peru!  Can’t wait to meet everyone.

We will be visit several other countries on this trip.  So much fun.

And they are not kidding about the crowd either. Click over the jump to see a collection of photos posted on twitter by JB over the past couple of hours.

I will update this post with pertinent Peru content as it becomes available.

9045495Howdy, y’all! (Twitter)

9030721I just love this picture, John. It is nice to see we really are the same all over the world! (Twitter)

9039964Nice view, Greg! (Twitter)

(And nice glasses!)

9045764-f823f8f41ec535fd26c7d90ab163ad01.4a107c91-scaledThis picture is actually really scary, Guys. Those “Peru ♥ U” people really get around. (Twitter)

We were going to wish them “Happy Exploring” as they visit a new land….but it doesn’t seem to be in the cards in fan-mobbed Lima.  So instead we will hope there is a way for them to safely helicopter away (maybe the hotel has a helipad … ?) and check out exciting Peruvian locales like Machu Picchu.

We just woke up to the sounds of fans screaming downstairs outside of our hotel.  What a great way to start off our new world tour.

We will be heading over to the venue for the concert later today.  The fans in Peru have already shown us so much love.  Can’t imagine what this trip is going to be like.  It truly is a dream come true.

We have been trying to be patient while we wait for the World Tour to start.  Now it is finally here!!!

AWESOME NEWS! We just found out we’re the #1 ticket-selling non-spanish language band EVER in Peru!! Thanks so much! Tonight was amazing, and we cannot wait to play another show here tomorrow! (Twitter)

We cannot wait to play another show here tomorrow night!

Thanks so much to all of our amazing fans for coming out to the show!

[More.] (Myspace)

All accounts indicate that they had a fabulous show. Yay!

I found this AWESOME fan vid from the show. It is excellent – great footage and some audio from the show! Enjoy! Make sure to check out her channel and give her some thanks for posting this video. Also posted below is a some footage from the fandemonium, and an alternate version of the balcony video from above (thanks Coolmom!).

It’s the same all over (^-^)!

The vid below contains some staging spoilers – more arrangement spoilers (for those of us who would like to abstain), but it is AWESOME!

I love this one just because everyone is singing along :)

We got to meet some of our amazing fans in Peru today! Thanks for all your love guys! Can’t wait for tonight’s show!!!! -JB (Twitter)

The Boys tweeted to the crowd during their second Lima show:

Hey Peru… If you’re in the building…. WE LOVE YA’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – JB

Then first thing the next day Joe impressed us all with his zeal for tourism:

9289538Love the fuzzy little llamas (alpacas?)!!

And then they bid a fond adios to Peruvian frenzy (and John Taylor’s cell phone), which ended even stronger than it began!!

Said JB:

…thanks for everything Peru! What a great start to a world tour!

oh yay! this is exactly what I was hoping for. They are in a country I’ve never been to and honestly know very little about.
Your collage is awesome cpaig! love llamas!!

and we are learning that Jonas fans are intense everywhere. I love the look on the faces of the girls in the crowd scenes. I know it well!

Oh I so wish I was there with them!
I really do hope they find a way to explore a bit and get to Mach Picchu. It seems like it could be done-security looks pretty fierce.

  2. on May 17, 2009 at 6:52 pm mememoi

I agree….it’s so amazing, I am pretty in awe. It must feel so great for them to know the hard work they do, and the way they have chosen to express themselves with their music has brought them these amazing opportunities in life. It is SO COOL. I have met some cool people from Peru and it is really, really high on my list of places I’d love to see in South America. (Probably 2nd only to visiting Ecuador for the Galapagos Islands.) There is just something fascinating and beautiful about it. LUCKY BOYS!

    • on May 17, 2009 at 6:55 pm mememoi

(Well…not LUCKY so much as talented and hardworking…I mean, they’ve already affected this huge crowd of people in a place they’ve never even set foot in!! Awesome.)

    • on May 17, 2009 at 8:02 pm merry27

I’d have to put Brazil first, then Argentina and then everywhere else is SA. It would be so amazing to go there. Someday!
They are lucky and you know they appreciate not just the fans but the opportunity to travel. That makes them even cooler in my book.

  3. on May 17, 2009 at 7:14 pm Sonnnn

It is amazing! Did you see Greg’s photo?

    • on May 17, 2009 at 7:20 pm mememoi

It’s in the post above! LOL.

The pictures make me cry!!! I am just so damn proud of them! I love all of the love they receive and I know how much it means to them. I am so thankful to the boys, Greg, JT, & hopefully Hoff for sharing the journey and making us feel like we are a part of it. What an amazing ride…

  5. on May 18, 2009 at 2:30 pm merry27

I love that video clip! the fans are so incredible and what a thrill for them that the JBs came out to say hi.

Demi looks great and seems to be very popular.
I love how they sneak through a room that is really well decorated (maybe for a wedding).
The area where the hotel is looks beautiful.
So far SA is a huge win. awesome!

  6. on May 18, 2009 at 4:14 pm coolmom823

More shots of rabid Peruvian fans and the freaked out looking police trying to hold them back in JJJ:

  7. on May 18, 2009 at 6:15 pm merry27

whoa!! those are incredible. All Rob Hoffman too.
I love the faces of the fans and the policemen/women.

very, very cool. Again thrilling to know the whole thing is being documented so well.

  8. on May 18, 2009 at 6:36 pm cpaig

I am really loving Twitter and twitpics right now more than ever. If this keeps up it will be so much fun!

    More updates above peeps!

Thanks for the link Coolmom! Those pics are CRAZY!

I can’t believe Rob had the guts to go out into that…wait, yes I do.

    :)

  9. on May 18, 2009 at 7:03 pm Barbara

I’m wondering about the other people at that hotel… don’t think they’ll get much sleep. :) (JB said they woke up to the sounds of the fans screaming outside.)

Did you all notice in the rest of their myspace post that they’re trying to get people to request Paranoid on Top 40 stations? The radio push is back. I’m not sure there’s really a Top 40 station in my area!

  10. on May 18, 2009 at 7:17 pm ponedbyjb

I am typing with tears.. I am just SO proud!!! They have to be feeling so many emotions.. WOW. I also love that Hoffman had the balls to get right in the thick of it.. I would have been scared to death. I also loved his tweet. It made me LOL at work; which got my in trouble… lame ass job.. In case you missed it I shall share.. **”front desk” “hi, it sounds like there’s 4,000 girls outside screaming.” “that’s because there are sir.” “oh, i see. thanks.” “good day.”**

He is such a little instigator.. ;)

    • on May 18, 2009 at 10:08 pm danilyn85

I loved Hoff’s tweet. I was giggling in the corner at work while I was reading it. (Phones are a big no-no, I was hiding from the camera!) He’s hilarious. I love all the pic we’ve been getting on twitter from everyone!

  11. on May 18, 2009 at 9:09 pm sharpld

This is incredible for the Guys. They have worked so hard and to see this type of devotion from fans in a country they have never visited before, whose native tongue they do not speak nor sing, is breathtaking.

It is also more than a little terrifying. I noticed in the soundcheck pic they are wearing no jewelry beyond their rings (Nick does still have his dog tag, but I am willing to bet that may be hidden when he performs tonight) and nothing else that can easily be used to pull them down into the crowd. Poor babies have had to consider the harsh realities of being loved too much.

What a summer this is going to be!

  12. on May 19, 2009 at 12:08 am Sonnnn

Is anyone overwhelmed? I kind of am. I’m trying to concentrate on my responsibilities LOL like my ebay store and my home … and I haven’t seen some interviews/videos etc. and I want to, but I also want to do what I need to do for myself.

  13. on May 19, 2009 at 1:02 am Trish

Funny you should mention that…I’m going through the exact same thing w/regards to eBay, work, etc., but my mind is only on the Boys. And it occurred to me that I probably won’t get a darn thing done all summer due to following their every move! LOL :)

  14. on May 19, 2009 at 8:29 am cpaig

    New updates above y’all!

As I said I am going to try and contain all of one country into one post.

I will keep the post tacked to the top of the blog until they move on, so remember to keep checking for updates!

  15. on May 19, 2009 at 9:01 am amandalovesjb

Someone commented underneath the pic of the band on twitpic that it is Demi’s band with them?

I know I recognized at least the one guy as her bass player, I think.

I love twitter! I love how they are keeping us up to date, just like they promised. ♥

    • on May 19, 2009 at 4:17 pm lenzmom

The woman on the far right with the long hair is Christa Black. I believe (someone correct me if I’m mistaken, please!) she is one of JB’s string section musicians.

      • on May 19, 2009 at 5:10 pm cpaig

Nope, you are correct! She is an awesome musician in her own right.

You can also see her jamming out in that show synopsis video above.

        http://www.purevolume.com/christablack

She is also twittering from Peru (and the tour in general).

        http://twitter.com/itschristablack

She toured with Michael W. Smith for 5 years.

        • on May 19, 2009 at 9:49 pm Sonnnn

she is quite talkative! Women definitely twitter a heck of a lot more than the men.

  16. on May 19, 2009 at 9:58 am mollyanne

I am loving these updates. I love when Rob, JT, and garbo update as well. That makes it so fun.

I am SO incredibly proud of them. I cannot imagine what they are feeling right now but I have a feeling they will get a similar response to each new country that they visit. WOW.

Trish, I agree. I am not going to get a thing done this entire summer. Oh well. It will be SO fun to follow them on here!

  17. on May 19, 2009 at 10:34 am mollyanne

Just FYI, there are outtakes of Joe’s InStyle shoot on Jonas HQ.

    Wow. I may faint.

  18. on May 19, 2009 at 10:51 am Tiffany

I love that they have twitters now so we can see what they see every day. It’s so much more fun to hear every thing from them instead of reading it once the news breaks out.

This article came in through my Google Alerts today, so I’m sure some of you have seen it, but I thought it was a very well written article about the boys that talked about them in a positive light and was very accurate. They touch on girlfriends, purity rings, and their relationships with each other all in a positive way. It is such a nice change to most of the press they’ve been getting recently.

    • on May 19, 2009 at 12:09 pm kevbear

This is a good article. The piece abut their funture dreams really interested me, because this is the first time I have heard/read Kevin answer anything other than musician/producer/director and I think it is incredibly sweet:

In future, Nick would like to go to college and collaborate with other artists. Kevin dreams of having a wife and children. Joe hopes to be an established actor, perhaps the next James Bond or Jason Bourne.

Kevin will be a wonderful father someday. I think all of the boys will.

      • on May 19, 2009 at 12:11 pm kevbear

Not entirley sure why, but I am back to kevbear again, but it is I, sharpld. :-)

        Awwwww! :)

    • on May 19, 2009 at 3:55 pm merry27

      Thanks Tiffany-a great article.
Joe’s “hickey” made me laugh. Not exactly sure how you scrape your neck in a car but I will take him at his word.

      • on May 19, 2009 at 4:31 pm mollyanne

Lol me too. I’m not sure either, but it’s Joe so I’m sure he found a way to do it. :)

      • on May 19, 2009 at 9:47 pm Sonnnn

maybe on the seatbelt? He is kind of short LOL. ha ha ha I choose to take him at his word. :)

    • on May 19, 2009 at 9:50 pm Sonnnn

I liked hearing about the Bible study and weekly prayer. I have often wondered if their dad is basically their pastor/church now and I guess he is. I wonder if any non-family members attend the Jonas “church.”

      • on May 19, 2009 at 10:49 pm Barbara

I’m guessing some of the band members, and maybe other Christians in their crew. I was glad to hear about the Bible study, too. The article, though, seemed like a mixture of quotes that we’ve heard from the past – when I read it I wondered if they had pulled quotes/info from previous interviews. And I was really wondering if those were old quotes about the Bible study. I don’t know. It just struck me that way. I’m sure they still do Bible study; I just never seem to hear about it except from Denise.

        • on May 20, 2009 at 12:00 am Sonnnn

isn’t the hickey comment new? I don’t remember hearing that. But Barb, you could definitely be right. The interviews are choppy and weird.

  19. on May 19, 2009 at 11:18 am cpaig

Hey all, I posted an excellent video above that gives a great overview of their first Peru show last night. Be sure to check it out!

  20. on May 19, 2009 at 11:45 am Sonnnn

so, who’s bummed about the JB song not being on the Night at the Museum soundtrack – at least the ones for download? Boo hoo. I wanted to hear it

  21. on May 19, 2009 at 11:49 am Sonnnn

what’s always hard about the interviews -printed and videotaped – is the editing. It’s hard to follow what really was said – everything seems taken out of context somehow. and you want to know what was really meant by something.

  22. on May 19, 2009 at 1:03 pm cpaig

This is the trip that keeps on giving!

More vids thanks to Coolmom above.

I can’t wait for a balcony scene from Argentina. I am just waiting for Kevin to belt out..

    “It won’t be easy, you’ll think it’s strange…” LOL!

    • on May 19, 2009 at 1:14 pm coolmom823

      “Don’t cry for me Argentina…” LOL!!! :D

    • on May 19, 2009 at 1:31 pm merry27

They should change the lyrics to “we’ve kept our promise, now keep your distance.” ;)

      • on May 19, 2009 at 1:40 pm coolmom823

        LOL!

      • on May 19, 2009 at 2:29 pm Trish

        LOL!!!

  23. on May 19, 2009 at 1:29 pm coolmom823

Well, it looks like Peru is certainly experiencing “La fiebre de los Jonas Brothers”.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jaZ0P7wo9o

Anyone care to attempt translations of what these enthusiastic fans are saying?

  24. on May 19, 2009 at 1:34 pm merry27

I was lame and took French in high school so I can’t translate.

But the concert footage is incredible! I love Nick’s red sweater. How can he stay cool playing in a sweater like that? amazing.

thanks for pulling it all together SR!

    • on May 19, 2009 at 2:23 pm cpaig

Well, I took Latin – LOL that has no use at all!

    • on May 19, 2009 at 9:52 pm Sonnnn

It really does not look rock and roll but I’m guessing it’s cashmere so it’s real light and it breathes?

      LOL

      • on May 19, 2009 at 10:58 pm merry27

ha-you got my only other Latin phrase.

Yes it must be the tissue weight cashmere…the kind I can never afford.

          Semper Fi!

          et cetera

see how much Latin we know!?

  25. on May 19, 2009 at 2:10 pm sharpld

I am thrilled for the boys, but the fan crush is straight-up scary. I can’t imagine how conflicted they must feel.

    • on May 19, 2009 at 2:23 pm cpaig

I don’t know if that is any scarier than the mall show we went to, or some of our other shows.

      • on May 19, 2009 at 2:28 pm coolmom823

I think it looks A LOT like the vids of the mall freebie shows of Fall 2007.

What amazes me is that except for the language spoken, these girls could be inhabiting the Mall of America!

        JB = Fandom without Borders!

      • on May 19, 2009 at 2:30 pm sharpld

You are very, very brave. I would have been flipping out.

    • on May 19, 2009 at 2:46 pm mollyanne

Holy smokes that is scary. As if I wasn’t worried about them enough before just being so far away from home. GAH!

I hope they are enjoying their time in SA, which I’m sure they are, but I would have to imagine that it is quite overwhelming.

  26. on May 19, 2009 at 7:15 pm ponedbyjb

**Warning.. I am overly emotional due to PMS so please excuse my insanity..**

I just watched the video from last night’s show and while I was taking in all the of the amazingness I was really struck by the line
Where would we be if we couldn’t dream.

If the boys were not encouraged to dream and given the love and guidance to chase those dreams they would not be where they are today. Speaking as a girl who has parents who don’t believe in dreams, and tell me to give up on mine daily I appreciate that lyric and the Jonas for reminding me and countless others to dream.. and to never give up on chasing them. Damn.. I am crying again.. I am such a mess.

    • on May 19, 2009 at 8:46 pm merry27

Kay it’s ok to get emotional….they are very inspiring!

    • on May 19, 2009 at 9:54 pm Sonnnn

What I said to my DH today was similar Kay!! I said their parents definitely never told them that there was ANY LIMITS on what they could do. They (and esp. Nick) had VISION and were never told NO YOU CAN’T GO THERE. I think just that alone allowed them to succeed. Because I do think they were born with that something special, that star quality and supreme talent.

  27. on May 19, 2009 at 8:03 pm coolmom823

I see above that Joe is sporting his green flip flops again. Guess they’re a choice, not a fluke, eh flamom? ;)

    • on May 19, 2009 at 9:53 pm Sonnnn

      OMG.

  28. on May 19, 2009 at 8:28 pm amandalovesjb

TOTALLY off topic and WARNING: JONAS spoilers (sort of).

My twitter friend Tara is a 21 year old actress living in LA. I met her on Twitter ’cause we’re both LA Laker fans and we both like #18 Sasha Vujucic.

Anyway, she asked me if I liked the boys and then proceeded to tell me she was in the JB3DCE and 4 episodes of JONAS! So here are her tweets to me about which episodes she was in.

dramadork001@amanda_loves_jb one where joe takes the date to a basketball game. I’m sitting right behind joe. & kevin is a cheerleader. Kevin was funny

dramadork001@amanda_loves_jb one where @ the school the brunnete having a jobro fan club meeting & the blonde shows us concert clothes & tells us stories.

dramadork001@amanda_loves_jb in tv show I’m in 4 episodes. One where they are throwing a party & fans crash it.& they convince us to clean their house.

dramadork001@amanda_loves_jb in the movie I’m in the part where we run up to the car and they have to climb out the roof. And in random chasing scenes

I just thought this was really cool! :)

    • on May 19, 2009 at 8:43 pm merry27

I think it’s cool too! But why did she call Nick the “other one” in her earlier tweet? Was she trying to be funny?

I always wondered who those background girls are! They are lucky but I guess to them it’s just a job.

I look forward to trying to find her in the upcoming episodes.

      • on May 19, 2009 at 9:27 pm amandalovesjb

She wasn’t trying to be funny. She literally didn’t remember his name. FAIL! :) Unfortunately, she is not a fan. I guess it is just a job to her.

I guess if all the extras really were huge fans, that could get in the way of shooting, lol. I guess they have to be professional and not interfere with the boys or anything.

        • on May 19, 2009 at 11:03 pm merry27

surely they need a few mature extras Amanda!
To be in the Mom’s book club, or teachers or cafeteria ladies…..

find out from her and let’s do it! lol!
we could pretend to be professional.

          • on May 20, 2009 at 12:42 am ponedbyjb

Lovelies…. can I come be an extra to0??? I mean this school could use a few peeps who roll through the day… I could be a great escape vehicle for a Jonas… or 3… ;)

            • on May 20, 2009 at 1:25 am Trish

What a riot! I’m picturing you with the three of them piled on your lap! LOL! :)

              • on May 20, 2009 at 1:33 am ponedbyjb

Nick, Nick, Nick! A sweater in South America? He looks like he is going to take the family Christmas portrait. :)

Oh Nick, you know I love ya!

But you can always see him…no matter how far away your seats are-there’s that red sweater.

Weird thing that happened tonight and you guys are the only ones I can share it with!

I keep my love for these boys, kind of a secret. I don’t pretend I don’t like them around other people, but I also don’t tend to squeal about them. I mean, yeah, I watched Jonas while my mom was in the room (but she’s pretty non-observant 80% of the time); my sister knows I own their cds and that I like their music; and I’ve shared in the hotness that is Garbo with my friend Mandy (she has a thing for bass players). But the only people that know how much I love them are you wonderful people! I just feel like the people I’m around just wouldn’t get it and I’m perfectly happy sqeeing by myself! lol

But tonight I was pulled out of the proverbial Jonas closet by none other than my best friend! Apparently it was my obsessive twittering that gave me away so I’m not completely surprised.

Anyway, this inspired my current curiosity. How much about your JB love do other people know about? Am I the only one who likes to keep them to myself? Sorry for the weird post guys!

    • on May 20, 2009 at 12:35 am ponedbyjb

I was closeted about my Jonas love for about 5 minutes, and then I met all of you and then i said F it and let my Jonas flag fly!! I catch a lot of hell for it, but I am not afraid to tell people what they can do with their negativity and nastiness. We don’t all have to agree on everything, and I support things that they love. I have even had to set my little brother straight when he felt the need to make fun of me!! My love for them is not hurting anyone, they make me happy, they send a positive message, and they are freakin adorable… In a world full of stress, greed, ignorance, and sadness if loving amazing people like them is wrong than dammit I don’t want to be right!!

    • on May 20, 2009 at 1:21 am Trish

Well, I’m 36 and my family/friends know I like them, they just don’t understand the depth of my love! They assume I like them because my daughter does, and even though I constantly sing their praises and have a JB sticker on my car, it just doesn’t register.
Incidentally, my sister (44, no kids) and my brother (50, no kids) both watched them on the Superbowl and thought they were “pretty good”. That is quite a compliment coming from them!

And really, the only aspect my family/friends would find weird is that, at my age, I think they’re hot. LOL!

But this brings to mind a huge pet peeve of mine. WHY are people so critical of them and their music? Since when does music have an age limit? WHY do people think only 7 yr olds can like Jonas Brothers?!?! Their music is quite mature, really. I can’t think of a single song whose lyrics are aimed at the younger set.
In fact, I can’t believe that 7 year olds can even understand the concept of songs like “Take a Breath”, “Sorry”, “Video Girl”…..

Sorry….didn’t mean to turn it into a rant! LOL! :)

    • on May 20, 2009 at 2:18 am lenzmom

Well, it’s not exactly a secret, but not something I bring up in casual conversation either. Keep in mind, I’m 42. My family knows how much I love JB. They were all amazed that I’m going to their concert in June (my little -37yoa- sister is going w/me) because the only other concert like that that I’ve ever gone to was taking my kids to see the Wiggles 5 years ago. I just don’t “do” concerts for a lot of reasons. Anyway, my family knows, my sons (10 & 8) tell their friends and teachers (I got to buy all sorts of JB stuff as a bday gift for a little girl that they’re both friends with, so her family heard all about how much Jeff and Steve’s mom likes JB!), a few of my good friends know. But at work I have to tone it down some because undercover drug cops just DO NOT get the whole OJD thing -lol! DH is indulgent of my OJD, but gives me some mostly-tongue-in-cheek grief about pedophilia & etc. If someone wants to ride in my van, they listen to my music, so they’ll get a healthy dose of JB. SR, though, is where I really get to relax and LOVE JB, because everyone here understands. I <3 you guys, & I <3 us!

are you a police officer Shelley?

        • on May 21, 2009 at 2:04 am lenzmom

No, I’m not an officer, I just keep a few of them in line – lol. I’m a “Task Force Specialist” i.e. Investigative assistant and Office Manager for our Drug Task Force. I’m sheriff’s office personnel, have been for the last 16 years. Never a dull moment.

    • on May 20, 2009 at 5:03 pm mememoi

I’m somewhat of a downlow fan, too,I guess.

I have my sister Cpaig, of course, to fangirl with. Beyond that, only close family members know the depth of my devotion, my friends and coworkers know I like them to probably an inordinate degree but I still try to play off that we travel to see them and stuff. :P

I defend and promote them every time I can, especially if I find a fellow semi-closeted fan to commiserate with. I don’t go on about it too much because I don’t want people judging me, or them. I don’t really care what they think in this matter, so I certainly don’t need to hear what they think. Hehe. It’s important enough to me that I don’t want to make my fandom a joke or a target for others’ ignorance. It’s my thing, it works for me, I’m having fun,and it’s no one’s business. LOL.

      And so, we blog!

(Also – my origin story if anyone cares though most of you have heard it umpteen times: I’m 29, and in early ‘ 07 my then 3yo took an immediate liking to the Jonases. My first impression, coming from loving a lot of indie pop music that I wouldn’t really listen to around my kid (they are sponges! but I am a bit less stodgy about that now), I thought their sound and content would be a good compromise. I got an illicit copy of It’s About Time, watched their summer ‘07 concerts online – was ridiculously enjoying it – and then realized I was actually the one who was getting besotted with them…I have not really slowed down since April ‘07.)

  32. on May 19, 2009 at 11:56 pm Sonnnn

Dani, I know I know. I decided to just let it out to my friends and my acquaintances and my in-laws and whoever. You know, they can do with it what they want. THey know I’m mostly normal LOL.

I figured they are too important to me to “hide” and why should I be ashamed – they can’t help their ages and I like them and like their music, and they suffer more backlash due to their religious beliefs than my friends would ever give me, and I can take it.

Plus … you never know who will come up with a connection for backstage passes or whatever – and if they don’t know you are a fan, they won’t tell you about it. Or someone else could be a fan too and maybe they don’t want to admit it.

In any case, if I’m weird, so be it. That’s what I decided. And yeah, I still feel weird about it but what can I do.

It’s strange that Nick and I can both blast Elvis Costello from our cars and feel just fine about it, but it’s a little disconcerting for me to blast the Jonas Brothers in my car. LOL

  35. on May 20, 2009 at 8:18 am Sonnnn

Also, just to add to the above – I agree with Trish – I LIKE pop music! Why would I stop liking it because I’m getting older?! who creates pop music? Kids! JB can’t help being young and I”m not going to let that stop me from appreciating them. It’s silly. THey love and respect plenty of older artists, why can’t it go both ways.

It is silly to think their fan base should be limited.

  36. on May 20, 2009 at 9:28 am amandalovesjb

To add my 2 cents, I’m 44. I am obsessed with the boys, and EVERYBODY knows it. It started with my then 11 year old daughter. We spent nearly 2 glorious years being best friends and squeeing over the boys at every opportunity. She has sadly now moved on, but I haven’t.

Everyone at work (Costco) knows about my obsession. I will whip out my cell phone at a moment’s notice to show anyone my M&G pic from last year. It’s my personal proudest JB moment to date. :)

We saw them 4 times last year. DH barely puts up with me, little does he know that for his bday on July 4, I am taking him to Provo, Utah to see the boys at the Stadium of Fire at the BYU football stadium. It’s not so much that he’ll MIND, he just wouldn’t choose it. lol He’ll enjoy the fireworks, billed as the ‘Country’s Best’.

I don’t mind telling anyone about the boys. If they say they’re not a fan, I tell them which songs I think they’ll like or which YouTubes to check out. I am an ambassador!

Last year Kayla and I worked for SayNow in an official capacity doing promotion for the boys. We were two of about 10 people all over the country working on their SayNow page and listening to thousands of their SayNow calls to pick out ones we thought the boys would like to hear. That was amazing. That’s how we got our meet & greet passes. SayNow then decided the boys didn’t need any more promoting (natch!) so we opted out of promoting for other bands.

Anyway, in short, I’m obsessed and I don’t care who knows it. :) SR is a great place to come and share our obsession. We really need to figure out a major JonasCon, though.

  37. on May 20, 2009 at 9:33 am Sonnnn

I know Amanda! I want to meet you all in person!

Today Ethan is getting a haircut … we’re going for the shorter current Nick curly ‘do … I’ll let you know how it turns out! I’ll bring the camera. :)

  38. on May 20, 2009 at 9:36 am Sonnnn

Amanda, our DHs are probably similar in attitude. Mine is totally and completely easy going. It takes a lot to get him upset. (I can do it LOL.)

He knows I am very grateful for how helpful he is in letting me “express myself” ie see the Jonas Brothers.

I wish he would take me to Italy or Dublin!!!!!!! ;)

    • on May 20, 2009 at 10:56 am amandalovesjb

Sondra, Steve (my dh) is actually quite jealous over all the time I spend on the JBs. He knows how much I love him and for crying out loud, it’s not like I’m going to leave him for Kevin or something. lol But he is jealous of my time.

I do have to be careful how much time I spend on the computer and stuff. He’ll walk by, glance at the screen and ‘pffftt’ over seeing pics of the boys or YouTubes or Twitter. He works with computers all day and he does NOT want to come home and get on the computer. The only thing he ever looks at is maybe eBay for car parts or our local Craigslist for stuff to buy. lol He doesn’t even do email.

He does not understand why I love Twitter and he’ll make a comment like, “Can you quit Twittering for 2 seconds so we can go ___?” He’s working nights right now so at least I can get some uninterrupted time in on the computer, lol.

      • on May 20, 2009 at 5:19 pm Sonnnn

Oh, well that stinks. My DH is obsessed with World of Warcraft (which he spends WAY too much time on) plus he’s used to me working on the computer for hours since I have my eBay store. So the difference now is that he has to hear about Jonas Jonas Jonas. Sometimes he does tell me to stop talking about them. LOL

  39. on May 20, 2009 at 2:01 pm Jan

I think I’ve confessed this before but I’m 57 and a retired kindergarten teacher. I started liking and following the Jonas Brothers in August 2007. They remind me of my days as a Beatlemaniac. I’ve told my closest friend that they are my “guilty pleasure.” My sister is the only one who really sees that I am obsessed with them! She gave me “A Little Bit Longer” CD in my Christmas stocking. I told her that I already had it. (I actually had 2: one for the car and one for home.) Then she returned it for the Jonas Brothers CD. (I already had 2: one for home and one for the car!). She finally returned it and got a CD for herself. I told her it was sweet of her but not to buy me any more JB stuff. I’ve already bought it or preordered it so she can’t beat me to it!
BTW, I was grocery shopping yesterday and “When You Look Me in the Eyes” came over the loudspeakers! It made shopping at Hannaford’s that much more enjoyable. I almost resented it when a friend came up to talk to me in the produce aisle when it was playing!

        Ummmmm, me too. :)

  41. on May 20, 2009 at 6:48 pm ponedbyjb

Oh, I love hearing everyone’s stories.. Jan I probably would have shooshed my friend.. I do that all the time when Dave Matthews comes on… I tend to shout about it.. When ever I hear lovebug in target I stop and dance… I do spins in my chair with this ridiculous smile on my face, and of course people stare at me and give me condescending looks; they assume i ride the short bus. My friend usually give me a healthy “Oh Kayyyy” and walk away. I just dance on and enjoy the magic that is Jonas.. life is too precious to be so serious all the time.

My parents think I have lost my mind but they rarely say anything.. they know it won’t do a damn bit of good. They just can’t seem to understand that music is my life. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I could give up or be without a lot of things as long as I have my music.. It’s not just for enjoyment; I connect with it on a deeper level. Music, especially JB music has so much to teach us if we take the time to listen.

Sorry, I am rambling.. Just slap me. I hope I made a little sense, and all of you don’t think I am crazy..

    • on May 20, 2009 at 9:21 pm Jan

      Hey…if you’re crazy, we’re crazy.

  42. on May 20, 2009 at 10:44 pm Sonnnn
