And It Smells Delicious, Just Like Toasted Oregano [TeeVee]

May 16, 2009 by cpaig

pizzagirlll

Tonight’s episode of JONAS is Slice of Life featuring the song “Pizza Girl.”

Will we fall in love with the pizza girl along with the rest of them? We’ll have to watch and see…

Even as miniature pizza toppings they are awesome.

Analysis after the jump!

I really liked this episode, though it is not my favorite of the three we have seen so far. That being said, all of the one lines and bits are sure to be much repeated and acted out for YouTube fan videos.

I feel it really doesn’t need to be restated that I enjoy all of the performance, though I do.  My favorite moments for each were (in order of age):

  • Kevin’s grand, yet  polite reaction to having his foot smashed. Mememoi and I theorize that this is how they approach most fan unpleasantness in real life. I think I am going to adopt the habit of saying “Yeah, that was awesome. Thank you very much.” when I get hurt in place of the string of profanities I think in my head while trying in vain to keep them from coming out of my mouth.
  • Joe’s great tuxedo scene. I just loved this. The James Bond (with a little Airplane/Naked Gun humor thrown in for good measure) was played extremely well.
  • I have to say I really liked Nick during the “the phone is ringing scene.” he does that little pinched face thing so well.

I have to say I am really liking their tendency towards absurdest humor and I am really glad there is not laugh track to ruin it (if anyone watched it on Disney last night there was a WOWP sneak peek in which the laugh track was, well, laughable).

I miss the white space jamming transitions parts though. The new ones are good. I like Kevin’s epaulets, but I miss the other ones.

Check out some of my favorite screen caps below!

sliceoflife1

The Lucas boys put on their best swoon faces as they pursued the pizza girl.

sliceoflife2Awesomeness!

sliceoflife3*Gasp!* You lost your white fluffy cat, Joe!

sliceoflife4I narrow my eyes at you, Nick.

sliceoflife5Share her?

sliceoflife7All resolved…well, except for the over competitive sibling thing, but there is nothing you can do about that.

and the little plastic thing goes on AFTER the pizza comes out of the oven. No wonder the pizza tastes horrible ;)

btw reports from the LA private concert are that Kevin plays piano on Turn Right!

    • on May 17, 2009 at 1:02 am coolmom823

Merry, see my comments re the instrument Kevin might have been playing below! :)

  4. on May 16, 2009 at 8:29 pm merry27

adorable! fun to see them competing like that. can’t wait to read everyone’s comments.

  5. on May 16, 2009 at 8:34 pm coolmom823

    My fave moment:

Kevin’s adorable face at the end when he said: “She delivered garlic bread!” :D

  6. on May 16, 2009 at 8:46 pm Jan

“The phone is ringing!” “Thephoneisringing!” “The phone is absolutely way,way ringing!”

I wonder if they have started using any of their scripted phrases at home as a joke.

    • on May 16, 2009 at 9:29 pm gityofunon

I wondered that too. Also, I wish I could have “The phone is ringing…etc.” as my ringtone.

      • on May 16, 2009 at 11:33 pm maermae

LOL I didn’t even think of that but how perfect would that be? Too funny!

      • on May 17, 2009 at 1:17 am Sonnnn

my BFF had a ringtone with a woman’s voice saying “the phone is ringing … get the phone … answer the phone” It SO creeped me out! but totally hilarious

  7. on May 16, 2009 at 9:00 pm merry27

I loved when they turned to the camera to acknowledge their awesomness!

  8. on May 16, 2009 at 9:37 pm Barbara

    Loved the sweatpants discussion.

Loved Kevin talking about the 2 “playas” and Nick about the 2 “Mackdaddies” (and “Mackdangit, you’re good!”)

Very funny episode. :) I love all three of them. (Well, really the whole cast, but mainly, Kevin, Joe, and Nick. :) )

  9. on May 16, 2009 at 9:48 pm mememoi

I had a number of laugh out loud moments; I’d have to watch again online to catalogue them! It didn’t make me laugh/cry like last episode but it was still very gleeful.

I really loved Joe in his askin’ out getup, the tuxedo with his hair all floppy and mussed. So silent film star!

    • on May 16, 2009 at 10:02 pm cpaig

I agree, and I will also need to watch it again before I can really delver into it.

Thankfully I will actually have time to do it tomorrow.

    • on May 17, 2009 at 1:18 am Sonnnn

I usually swoon over the casual hair but tonight I was actually desiring the Chi for Joseph … especially with the tux. But it’s OK. He was beautiful as always.

    • on May 17, 2009 at 9:24 am merry27

I thought he was doing a Scarface…..especially when he said “Marrria”
      so funny.

  10. on May 17, 2009 at 12:18 am amandalovesjb

OMJ, the dialog, the dialog! So hilarious. Whoever is writing is funny. Really, really, funny. I do NOT typically laugh out loud at anything. Ask my family. I will smile, but it takes a lot for me to laugh out loud at tv. JONAS makes me laugh out loud.

‘Mack’ and ‘Daddy’ = priceless. ‘Lawless’ = priceless (total shout out to Jack, IMHO). Loved ‘the phone is ringing’. And I totally love Stella. She is beautiful and a great comedic actress. I want to know the background of how she is so close to the Lucas family. Seems like sort of a Maya K thing almost. I loved the entire episode.

Just when I think the next episode can’t possibly top the one before — it does. In spades. Oh, I am loving JONAS. Must tweet the boys and let them know. Even if they can’t possibly read all their tweets. :)

  11. on May 17, 2009 at 12:34 am Anna

Coolmom&Cpaig—–I have come to know the 2 of you as Kevin gals and I got a hell of a surprise for you. Although it would appear that pictures and vids were prohibited at todays special LA show, there is some wonderful news that has come to my attention. Some girls that went today are saing on TJ that, are you ready for this————————————-KEVIN PLAYED PIANO ON THE SONG TURN RIGHT! I am almost unable to process this news. I hope he does that at every concert.

    • on May 17, 2009 at 1:00 am coolmom823

I’m guessing what they are talking about is that he was playing a pedal steel guitar. JB has said that one is used in “Turn Right”. As you can read in the description below, the guitar is on a horizontal stand, and there are pedals below. It would resemble a keyboard to someone unfamiliar with the instrument.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedal_steel_guitar

I agree that it would be fantastic to see Kevin play one!

      • on May 17, 2009 at 1:20 am Sonnnn

Yup! Remember that press release – I was makin’ fun of whoever wrote peddle steel guitar … ha ha ha!

Kevin is our Country Boy! I will ALWAYS be grateful to Kev for bringing me to the tremendousness of Mr. Keith Urban and Mr. Brad Paisley.

  12. on May 17, 2009 at 1:07 am coolmom823

Here’s a picture of a pedal steel guitar:

    • on May 17, 2009 at 1:21 am Anna

Aw, I’m so sorry to get your hopes up. Someone on TJ said that Nick said, “Give it up to Kevin on piano”

  13. on May 17, 2009 at 1:53 am Trish

Loved tonight’s episode! My favorite moment: Kevin’s “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” CLASSIC. :)

The show is genius. I’m so happy that it is a smart-funny, and not slapstick funny.
Amanda, we squeed over the ‘Lawless’ comment, too! And Joe’s sidecar! I love they work these things in…

Even more awesome is that they showed the first two episodes before Pizza Girl! We just happened to turn the TV on early. Looking SO forward to tomorrow!

Anna, count me & my daughter in the ‘Kevin Gals’ category! ;) Regardless what he was playing, I CAN’T WAIT to see it in person!

Thank you all for indulging my rambles.. ♥

    • on May 17, 2009 at 2:33 pm Barbara

K, such a great job listing them all! I was tempted to list a bunch last night (I jotted down the lines I found amusing, and it was a lot!), but I decided to not “overwhelm everybody” (as if!)

Another line I found particularly humorous – when Nick defends being dressed up by saying, “Can’t a guy get dressed up for his evening snack?”
And Joe explaining the pizza coupons – getting all “serious” about how great they are.
And Kevin defending his “attracting bees” line with (something like) “that’s the best I could come up with in the time I had.”

Yes, the writers are doing a great job. I have been laughing out loud many times for the first three episodes!

  16. on May 17, 2009 at 8:41 am amandalovesjb

You got ‘em all, K. I LOVE it!! So many of the above lines made me LOL. “Fake laughing matter” hahahaha.

That’s totes awesome Hoff tweeted you! I’m going to go look for it.

2 loooooooooong days of work for me today and tomorrow but I will try to catch up later. Everyone say a prayer for the Lakers today. It’s win or go home, and sadly, I will not be watching the game because I am WORKING. Sigh.

  17. on May 17, 2009 at 10:12 am sharpld

Anna, count me in with the Kevingirls.

K, you did an amazing recap of the highlights. Nicely done.

RE: Kevin’s new instrument, whether is is pedal steel or piano, I may have to have DD prepared to revive me. I don’t know if I will survive the joy.

  18. on May 17, 2009 at 10:39 am Sonnnn

Pedal steel guitar = definitely cool. Robert Randolph plays it too. As does someone in every country act. :)

    Good morning everyone!
