Occupation: Musician [Listen]

May 12, 2009 by cpaig

JBBBCRadio151209

Jonas Brothers on BBC Radio 1 with Edith Bowman!

I just love JB radio interviews, and this one is no exception. The Guys have a delightfully mellow conversation covering tons of topics such as JB3DCE, working with Cathy Dennis, what they put as their occupation on their visa forms (can you guess?), spare time, cake, upcoming projects, music, fans, and future aspirations.

They go into quite a bit of detail about their most recent vacations, the first they have taken apart. It sounds like they all got to have the perfect break, which is so nice to know.

They also answer a bunch of fan questions that, frankly, put the questions asked during the last live chat to shame. They are asked about cringe-worthy outfits they have worn, who they would love to tour with, and if they have any obscure hobbies (it turns out they do – duct tape wallet anyone?). The ladies on the phone are calm, and respectful – even the one who asks to marry Joe (he gives one of his sweetest responses ever to this).

Oh yeah, and they also play the recording of the new single “Paranoid” too.

It’s truly a treat!

Listen for yourself after the jump!

Part 1

(This is missing the beginning bit, and there is an odd quit spot. Here is an alternate version of part 1).

  • JB3DCE
  • Appreciating being able to have a grilled cheese whenever you want while on tour.
  • All about their vacation! Including the story of a certain “Best Friend” bungee jumping twice.
  • Writing “Paranoid” with Cathy Dennis.

Part 2

  • Afternoon tea featuring drizizzle cake.
  • Email fan questions including what is your most cringe-worthy outfit? (See below).

jonas-brothers-kids-choice-400ds0823

  • Walter the Farting Dog = NO. (Thank goodness!)

Part 3

  • iPod guilty pleasures that are just plain awesome

  • Elvis Costello, Duct Tape, ordering out , and Ben Stiller.
  • Big secret revealed @ 4:52 – 5:13.

WARNING: There is a big SPOILER in this part regarding Night At The Museum Battle of the Smithsonian. If you don’t care about that – listen on!

I can’t wait to listen!!! I’m going to, in just a sec. Just wanted to say that Joe looks like an adorable little boy in the above pic. Nick and Kevin look HANDSOME. And Brody enjoys making duct tape wallets!!!! :)

    • on May 12, 2009 at 6:23 pm mememoi

Haha, he really DOES look like a little boy, it was my first thought, too.

  2. on May 12, 2009 at 6:38 pm Trish

Clearly English teens are much more intelligent and sane than their American counterparts! LOL!!
Loved the interview. So nice to hear them treated respectfully.

I really don’t even want to think about John Taylor bungee jumping. In fact, none of them should be allowed.

  3. on May 12, 2009 at 6:44 pm amandalovesjb

Loved the interview. I like it when the person conducting the interview is bright and actually is up on JB and knows what to ask. I liked her a lot.

Favorite line: British fan: I actually have a Mrs. Nick Jonas key chain. Joe: So do I! Bwahahaha!!

Kevin was actually very sweet in this interview as well. He’s so smooth.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 7:02 pm Barbara

      Yeah for intelligent interviewers!

I’m sure there will be a post up about the Paul O’Grady show, too – just wanted to say I love him, too! He had Big Rob on and that was a hoot!

    • on May 12, 2009 at 8:29 pm Anna

      When isn’t Kevin sweet ?

      • on May 12, 2009 at 8:41 pm Trish

        So true! :)

  4. on May 12, 2009 at 6:52 pm merry27

thanks for the post..it took me about a half an hour with interruptions but I really enjoyed that interview. I was thinking exactly the same thing about the questions..much. much better than the live chat.
And I loved hearing about Australia and New Zealand from Joe. I didn’t know that they went to NZ too.

However Joe although I’m sure you are sick to death of marriage proposals-”do you cook and clean?” ummm not cool. But you quickly realized it and moved on gracefully…. “we can order out.” lol.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 8:17 pm Sonnnn

ha ha Mary – he’s a traditional guy.

      I wish I cooked. I do clean.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 9:31 pm sharpld

I cringed for him. I don’t think he meant anyting negative by it, but such a comment can be so easily misconstrued. He did recover well and so did the girl, sugesting that he do his share. :-)

      • on May 12, 2009 at 9:37 pm Trish

I actually thought it was cute, but then again I’m quite traditional, too, I suppose. I would have so been June Cleaver, dusting in pearls….if I had gotten married! LOL :)

        • on May 12, 2009 at 9:42 pm Sonnnn

yeah, I like when they are who they are.

        • on May 12, 2009 at 10:21 pm mollyanne

LOL! I thought it was cute too.

I’m in….I’ll totally vaccuum in heels. Ok well maybe not but I’ll go for dusting in my pearls. :)

    • on May 13, 2009 at 5:50 am merry27

lol people! love hearing about everyone’s domestic skills! I can do both but often choose to do neither.

  5. on May 12, 2009 at 7:32 pm Elisa

Loved that! The interviewer was great, and the fans who called were calm and able to talk to the boys like normal human beings talk to each other. That was nice! :)

  6. on May 12, 2009 at 7:44 pm coolmom823

Oooo I LOVE radio interviews! I’ll have to come back later to catch up!

  7. on May 12, 2009 at 9:29 pm sharpld

Snoop Drizzle and “bad jacket phase!”

When the boys are allowed to be relaxed and on, we get such wonderful things in interviews.

Joe is so charming and well, chill, when he accepts random marriage proposals. He doesn’t get uptight; he doesn’t break anyone’s heart, and he leaves a fan with an indelible memory.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 9:34 pm Anna

Do they always get hounded with “Marry Me’s” in these kinds of settings?

      • on May 12, 2009 at 9:45 pm sharpld

It seems like there is at least one proposal in every interview and live chat. That doesn’t include the shout-outs or the fan signs. :-)

        • on May 12, 2009 at 9:51 pm Anna

All 3 of them must handle the “proposals” with grace

  8. on May 12, 2009 at 9:41 pm Sonnnn

Nick always wants to meet the girl before he will make a commitment. LOL!

  9. on May 12, 2009 at 9:49 pm coolmom823

I don’t think they have hardly had a radio interview or a live chat without at least one and usually more proposals, lol!

This was fun, I love British radio interviews, the people are always so intelligent and polite. Such a pleasant change from some of the sleazy radio types we have in the states (NOT Ernie D. of course, he’s great).

But, I also enjoy the folksy aspects of British broadcast: the quizes, or the food eating. It given the guys something to respond to that hasn’t been done and re-done.

I couldn’t believe how poised the phone callers were. That British reserve serves them well in this instance.

    Can’t wait for Paul O’Grady!

  10. on May 12, 2009 at 9:50 pm Sonnnn

I knew JT was the best friend he wanted to go backpacking with! I just knew it! :)

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:19 pm mollyanne

How adorable was it that Joe called JT his best friend. Oh my goodness.

      • on May 12, 2009 at 10:28 pm mememoi

I knoooow. Not the reserved “one of my best friends” a lot of people would say, but “my best friend”. Insanely dear.

        • on May 12, 2009 at 10:44 pm mollyanne

Exactly. Oh it is too sweet.

        • on May 12, 2009 at 10:45 pm coolmom823

          Joe is so darling!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 12:14 am Trish

      I squeed! :)

      • on May 13, 2009 at 1:11 am Trish

Oh, and don’t forget – in Seventeen, Joe said he and his best friend want to backpack around the globe! I can just imagine those two now, getting into all kinds of mischief in foreign lands! LOL!

  11. on May 12, 2009 at 10:03 pm Sonnnn

How cute is Nick correcting Joe on Mr Blue Sky? Nick always has to get the facts STRAIGHT. That is his Virgo-ness. We share that. :)

  12. on May 12, 2009 at 10:04 pm cpaig

Hey y’all – I am waiting for a decent version of the Paul O’Grady appearance before I publish my post. I hope to do that tomorrow evening.

  13. on May 12, 2009 at 10:09 pm coolmom823

Kevin was a riot eating the sweets. I’ll tell you what, Kevin has him a SERIOUS sweet tooth! Not to brag or anything, ;) but I am personally known far and wide for my brownies. I would love an opportunity to attempt a culinary seduction of that boy!

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:10 pm Barbara

      LOL!

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:16 pm amandalovesjb

Wonder if Danielle likes to bake?! Somehow she strikes me as more of the shopping type! lol

      • on May 12, 2009 at 10:28 pm coolmom823

It’s kind of rare to find any young girls who like to cook these days, it seems!

        • on May 12, 2009 at 10:33 pm mollyanne

Oh I WISH I could cook- I’ve always been a picky eater and my diet is pretty bland- always has been. So I never cook anything that isn’t basic. So boring, I know.

Now baking on the other hand…LOVE it. :)

        • on May 12, 2009 at 10:35 pm mememoi

LOL, looks like a shopper. Now, now!

But that is true about cooking. At least not consistently. I would be guilty. I subscribe to and love to cook out of Gourmet, on occasions – I can do fancy schmancy Dean and Deluca, with enthusiasm… But everyday awesome, reasonable reality cooking? Yeah, so far I kinda suck at that. I even have Martha Stewart Everyday Food for encouragement, but I am spoiled by frozen groceries and mostly I just gaze at the lovely photos. :P Sometimes LBF and I live like crazy bachelorettes with our dining habits, not gonna lie.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:22 pm Anna

Amen! We want reports on “Mission Accomplished” if it works ;)

    • on May 13, 2009 at 12:16 am Trish

Culinary seduction! Sounds like a great plan! ;)

    • on May 13, 2009 at 5:54 am merry27

lol coolmom! would love to try your brownies…
we are known for our cookies and my daughter is always wondering if she could bring some to a m&g (if she ever won one).

      • on May 13, 2009 at 9:54 am coolmom823

That is so sweet, merry! She should totally bring cookies if she ever wins one!

  14. on May 12, 2009 at 10:45 pm Sonnnn

My DH is an awesome cook, for real. He is really good at it and he enjoys it. His mom taught him everything and he improved on it all – she comes to him now! He makes chicken enchiladas, homemade meat and marinara sauce, steaks to die for, pancakes, meatloaf, lecho (Hungarian stew), rice and beans, calzones, pesto sauce, and tons more. Once I eat something the way he does it, it’s just no good any other way. I am really picky. He fixes everything so I like it and that says a LOT. He has me eating vegetables – he makes such great things with onions, tomatoes, peppers, it’s really incredible. Doesn’t give me much incentive to do anything other than baking … I do fix the kids breakfasts and lunches every day! :)

I am a “so-so” wife LOL. There is always room for improvement. I never thought I would actually lose 21 pounds and exercise every day! So miracles, they happen.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:51 pm coolmom823

Speaking of Frankie, I have to say that I for one am VERY happy that it seems like Walter the Farting Dog is DOA. Really glad that someone pulled the plug on that! ;)

      • on May 13, 2009 at 3:49 am lenzmom

        Here, Here! I’ll second that!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 5:57 am merry27

that is awesome! love men who can cook.

and congrats on your weight loss and healthy lifestyle. Not a miracle, just smart choices and hard work!

      • on May 13, 2009 at 7:58 am Sonnnn

It is a miracle though that my inspiration finally came along.

  15. on May 12, 2009 at 10:46 pm mollyanne

    Ok, this is sweet.

    • on May 12, 2009 at 10:54 pm amandalovesjb

What is it about those boys saying the the “L” word. It just melts me. Especially when they say the “L” word to each other or about each other. Gah!

  16. on May 13, 2009 at 1:42 am DaniLyn85

My uncle lives in Brighton! Seriously, if I didn’t mind being so far away from the huge amount of Jonas here in the states, I would move there in a heartbeat. Those fans are like polar opposites from the crazies we have over here, so polite and no screaming over the phone lines. AND their radio djs are just appealing and intelligent and funny. I’m jealous!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 8:27 am beckyheartsjb

My head is getting bigger from the nice things you girls say about us Brits. You are so nice, but their were a few crazies at P oGrady yesterday!

      • on May 13, 2009 at 8:50 am merry27

Becky I missed you yesterday but I was so happy to hear you were there! so, so exciting!
They looked adorable and most likely even more so live.

      • on May 13, 2009 at 9:58 am coolmom823

Becky, I watched a really poor quality YouTube of PO’G, and I just loved knowing that you were actually there! So fun!

  17. on May 13, 2009 at 2:06 pm beckyheartsjb

I have changed my gravatar in honour of the boys gracing my homeland with their presence.Sorry I’m still a Joe girl, tan alert!!!!!!!!! Swoon!!!!!!!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 2:07 pm beckyheartsjb

It will change in a minute.

    • on May 13, 2009 at 2:21 pm mememoi

      Love it! ;)

      • on May 13, 2009 at 3:06 pm beckyheartsjb

        It hasn’t changed yet,Disgrace!

        • on May 13, 2009 at 4:16 pm mememoi

It’s him in the white/plaid shirt, right? From yesterday or whenever? I can see it plain as day.

          • on May 13, 2009 at 5:18 pm beckyheartsjb

I can’t see it,my old one is still showing on my screen.Strange……

    • on May 13, 2009 at 3:27 pm merry27

I still can’t see it but it will show up soon. can’t wait!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 4:20 pm mollyanne

Oh I LOVE it! He’s just so darn cute!

  18. on May 13, 2009 at 3:09 pm Sonnnn

I ordered Keith Urban’s (unauthorized) biography last night from a Web site called CD WOW. ANyway, this Web site (which I think is based in the UK) has a preorder open for LVATT and the track listing is the following:

    CD

    1. World War III
    2. Paranoid
    3. Fly With Me
    4. Poison Ivy
    5. Hey Baby
    6. Before The Storm
    7. What Did I Do To Your Heart
    8. Much Better
    9. Black Keys
    10. Don’t Charge Me For The Crime
    11. Turn Right
    12. Don’t Speak
    13. Keep It Real
    14. Enhancement

    Interesting! What is Enhancement?

(PS What DId I Do to Your Heart sounds like such a Rooney-type title)

    • on May 13, 2009 at 3:26 pm merry27

enhancement??!! that is cracking me up…but whatever. I’m sure it will be a great song.

It’s fun to look at the list and guess what the songs are going to sound like.

btw they are having a Keith Urban presale tomorrow for his concert at MSG in October.

    • on May 13, 2009 at 4:19 pm mememoi

I find song titles to be soooooo unhelpful. LOL. They tend to make me freak out more than anything because they always sound ridiculous without a song to associate with it. I don’t mean just for the Jonases.

      • on May 13, 2009 at 4:29 pm mollyanne

Oh gosh, now I’m picturing corny 80’s-esque songs with costumes and funny dancing. Like something you would see on SNL.

Yes, song titles are completely unhelpful.

        :) .

        • on May 13, 2009 at 5:41 pm merry27

          ha….no freaking out!

whenever we drive with our GPS and the annoying voice says “turn right” a million times I’m convinced that was their inspiration for Turn Right. No matter what they say.

but yeah, agreed that overall they are unhelpful.

  19. on May 13, 2009 at 3:35 pm Sonnnn

It could be a blank track or something also, not necessarily a song.

Ohhhh, Keith – when are you coming to FLORIDA!

    • on May 13, 2009 at 4:35 pm mollyanne

Just saw on people.com that the Country Special Issue is on newsstands Friday! Kenny, Keith, and Brad are on the front! :)

  20. on May 13, 2009 at 6:08 pm Trish

Just finished putting up the Hallmark Father’s Day display and there is a collection of Brad Paisley sound cards. I thought of y’all! :)

    • on May 13, 2009 at 6:26 pm merry27

is it that time already? Father’s Day? ;)

  21. on May 13, 2009 at 6:28 pm merry27

was just looking at the London pictures on Just Jared jr and I really love the way they dressed on this trip. They always look great but I love the classic pieces in all the neutral colors.
