Enough To Sing About It? [TeeVee]

April 26, 2009 by cpaig

jonas4

Over the past couple of days we have been treated to two new previews of JONAS. One is from E! News Now, and the other from Disney Channel. They are very different.

The Disney Channel sneak peek follows the established pattern (antics clip, music clip, antics clip) and highlights a new song in this the fourth (and final?) preview before the premiere next week. The clip features the (infamous?) “Pizza Girl Song” culminating in an over the top goofy music video staring mini Jonai, killer pepperoni, a giant pizza girl, and the pizza oven of certain death.

The E! News Now clip is comprised of scenes from the “Wrong Song” episode, and features lots of meaty dialogue. This is the most complete picture we have of how the dialogue will flow (so far).

Did these clips make you clap? Cringe?

Follow me over the jump to watch the clips, get my take, and learn some techniques to make it all they way through JONAS (cringe pillows anyone?)

This clip is goofy, goobery, and slapstick, but I like it. Keep in mind I am a fan of They Might Be Giants, Pete and Pete, and all things a little over the top, surreal, and just plain silly. I know it is not everyone’s cup of tea. I like it because the silliness is blatant. It is not supposed to be “cool”. It is supposed to make us laugh. This song is definitely a little “Disney does Flight of the Concords“.

more about “E! JONAS Sneak Peek“, posted with vodpod

This E! clip is another story. We get a real good sampling that shows how the characters relate to each other and the caliber of the writing. It is sweet, and funny.

For me, it is a little hard for me to reconcile these two clips. The Disney Channel clips are pretty consistently silly, but we see something new (and reassuring) in the E! clip – their characters actually have depth! What is the deal with this difference? Could it be as simple as DC playing to their audience? Who is E! trying to grab? Can there really be this much of a swing from sweet to goofy in every episode? Will you be able to watch for the sweet clips if the goofy ones set your teeth on edge?

So many questions.

To help you work through your Jonas issues we proudly present…dun..dun…duuuun…

cinge

Coolmom’s Cringe-O-Meter (Patent Pending)

Because we all love JB so much, we want to be present for each and every second of each and every episode of JONAS – whether Cringe Inducing Moment (CIM) or no. Therefore, in the interest of preparedness, I respectfully submit the following: Cringe-o-Meter Ratings and Action Guide for Cringe Pillow

or

Know Your CIM(s)

NOTE: This scale is intended for information purposes only, and does not account for an individual’s Personal Cringe Threshold (PCT)

10+ – Characterized by an inability to remain in the same vicinity as CIM. Tip: If you’re forced to vacate the premises, it’s a 10+.

8-9 – Characterized by uncontrollable urge to remove the CIM from television screen. Tip: If you’re compelled to change the channel, it’s an 8-9.

6-7 – Characterized by urge to immerse head and ears into the Cringe Pillow, so that no part of CIM is accessible. Tip: If you can’t stand to hear and see it, but are still willing to sit through the show, it’s a 6-7.

4-5 – Characterized by urge to immerse ears or eyes only in Cringe Pillow. Tip: If either the sight or sound is a CIM but not both, it’s an (aural or visual) 4-5.

2-3 – Characterized by mild discomfort and embarrassment. Tip: If you feel better just from clutching the Cringe Pillow to your chest, it’s a 2-3.

1 or less – Characterized by low level of embarrassment. Tip: Level of embarrassment encountered frequently during all Disney Channel shows.

We may just have to design a cringe pillow or two ourselves.  Here’s Mememoi’s rough draft of one. We want to see your cringe pillows or design ideas!

Post a link or send us a pic of yours if you have one, and we will post a gallery here!

    awesome. awesome, awesome!!!!

cringe-o-meter. I can’t stop laughing. How do you ladies do it?

I can’t link on the cringe pillow? but will check back later.

I’ve said it before we need to see the entire episode. Looks like each will have some physical comedy but also lots of dialogue. and music.
I agree that the Pizza Girl clip was great.

and I heard a radio commercial for JONAS today in the car..and it sounded kind of cool.

I cannot wait , I will watch every week ♥ them so much

  3. on April 26, 2009 at 11:25 am amandalovesjb

No cringing here! :) So excited for next Saturday, I can hardly stand it.

  4. on April 26, 2009 at 12:47 pm mollyanne

Hahahahahaha. This is great. Oh I can’t stop laughing! I know I will be cringing quite a bit, but i don’t care. This week is going to go so slowly. Gah!

  5. on April 26, 2009 at 1:43 pm coolmom823

Awesom post, cpaig. Thanks for including my humble Cringe-o-Meter. Hope it helps, Revelers! ;)

LOL at mememoi’s pillow! :D How perfectly true!

    • on April 26, 2009 at 1:52 pm cpaig

I like it too – though a good cringe pillow needs to be really smooshy so you can wrap it around your head.

I also thing the addition of a cookie pocket would be nice.

      • on April 26, 2009 at 2:12 pm coolmom823

Absolutely, comfort food is a must.

  7. on April 26, 2009 at 1:55 pm Trish

    ROFL!!!!! Awesome post, Cpaig!
Coolmom, the Cringe-O-Meter is classic! I’m sure we’ll all be referring to it from time to time.
    The pillow is darling. :)

  8. on April 26, 2009 at 2:22 pm tlatzotzontli

CIM?! Hilarious! hahaha, and so useful too! Love the pillow as well. I also really like the whole goofy, dream-like song sequences. Nick was right about trying out new things regarding songwriting. The songs are super simple, but funny and entertaining.

  9. on April 26, 2009 at 4:43 pm Elisa

Whoa, so much has happened since Thursday, I’ve missed a lot!

    1. Nick’s basketball video. Oh my oh my…. SO funny! Gosh I love that boy!!
    2. Also, it looks like I’m going to absolutely love JONAS – no cringing so far! I love the E! clip, because it’s nice to see what the dialogue’s going to be like. And I know it’s goofy, but truth be told, the IFILWTPG clip totally made me giggle. :D Those mini-Jonases! LOL.
    3. Nick’s being way too hard on himself, I think he’s acting is really good.
    4. This post is awesome, cpaig, and coolmom, you’re a genius.
    5. Wow Joe really IS in Australia!

    • on April 26, 2009 at 5:12 pm Elisa

      Ugh… HIS acting, not he’s.

  10. on April 26, 2009 at 4:51 pm Elisa

    6. “Aww it’s Nick’s broken heart” = priceless.

  11. on April 26, 2009 at 6:07 pm sharpld

This is a brilliant post! I love the Cringe-o-meter and the cringe pillow.

May I say that I think the pizza girl clip is pushing a 4, but I completely “awwwed” when Nick made himself a little shelter with the bell pepper and pepperoni. (That is almost too surreal to be an actual sentence, isn’t it?)

    I cringe because I love.

    • on April 26, 2009 at 7:22 pm coolmom823

I personally loved when Joe and Kevin were scampering around carrying the giant pepperoni slice, lol! :)

  12. on April 26, 2009 at 7:23 pm amandalovesjb

    Totally, Sharpld. I love Nick’s ‘pepperoni shelter’. :) :) :)

Wouldn’t it be amazing if ALL of us could be together in the same room to watch the show?! I can just imagine the ooohing and awwwwing and over-analyzing that would be going on.

We’d have to be TiVo-ing it and stop and discuss every few minutes or so. It would be a blast!! ;)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:25 am mememoi

It would have been awesome to be in the same room for the premiere (or for anything). I just know hilarity would abound.

  13. on April 26, 2009 at 7:51 pm amandalovesjb

Oh, good gosh, I LOVE this picture from JONAS!

  14. on April 26, 2009 at 8:34 pm flamom

I wish I could be with all of you too! Let’s try to get on here together afterward – maybe after teh second showing too – it’s on again at 11 right?

SO … today at the mall I bought (my daughter) two posters of the Jonas Brothers that I have always wanted – they were $3 each at FYE because they are from 2 years ago:

    http://www.jonasbrothersmerch.com/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=37&zenid=23395c217a4133565bda7b71b3747168

and (picture on a poster – not the TJ stuff)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 6:53 am cpaig

OOooh, I have always loved that poster! I am looking at my TJ Scrapbook right now!

      • on April 27, 2009 at 8:19 am flamom

I know – I just couldn’t leave it there … even though it’s going to take some creativity to get 2 posters hung in there.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 6:30 pm Elisa

Oh I saw those were on sale at FYE when I was in Florida! But I decided not to buy them, seeing as I had already bought four (4) JB posters. And spent 800 dollars. Plus my suitcase was full.

  15. on April 26, 2009 at 8:38 pm flamom

sorry about that last one – http://tinyurl.com/d96ep8

OK, so they are for MY DAUGHTER right???? Wink wink wink

LOL they are going in her room but they are all for me. I love that car picture more than anyone should love a photo. LOL

I also bought her the cutest Jonas Brothers cap –

    http://tinyurl.com/ckx8gj

Look how cute it is! she looks adorable in it & she says she wants to wear it. She wore it to dinner. It is just so cute.

Originally $20 and I got it for $5! Oh yeah I love a Jonas bargain!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 6:54 am cpaig

      Love the hat!

  16. on April 26, 2009 at 8:45 pm flamom

This is extremely handy to keep around! an episode guide!

    http://www.tv.com/JONAS/show/74751/episode.html

    • on April 27, 2009 at 6:54 am cpaig

Awesome! Thanks! Does Disney do 22 episodes?

      • on April 27, 2009 at 8:20 am flamom

I am positive at some point one of the guys said they did 22 episodes. Maybe he made a mistake with the number.

  17. on April 26, 2009 at 8:46 pm flamom

    but … umm… they said 22 episodes and this is 14 … :(

  18. on April 26, 2009 at 8:49 pm flamom

Sharing clothes! on JONAS! Remember this sweatshirt Kevin is wearing from 2006? Joe wore it at a show – and didn’t Kevin wear it during the “opening the mail” video also?

    http://jonasphotos.org/displayimage.php?album=1187&pos=1

  19. on April 26, 2009 at 8:52 pm flamom

this one is funny too – remember these pants (Joe’s)??

    http://jonasphotos.org/displayimage.php?album=1187&pos=10

    • on April 26, 2009 at 9:49 pm coolmom823

Ahhhh the lemon yellow pants! Thought we had lost them…too bad they found them.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:26 am mememoi

      Augh, I LOVE THESE. Heeheehee.

I still think the actors who play their parents look kind of inordinately young and unparenty, though. Too bad Mom &Pop J couldn’t just play themselves, it’s not as if they’re not adorable enough.

      • on April 27, 2009 at 9:25 am coolmom823

I agree re the actors playing the parents, mememoi. Might it be because the TARGET Disney audience is so young that their parents are pretty young so the audience could relate better to these younger parents?

        Does that make any sense?

        • on April 27, 2009 at 10:20 am mememoi

It makes sense, but also doesn’t. LOL. I think the parents on Wizards of Waverly Place seem rightly aged!

Again, it’s probably just because I know what their parents look like, and if I didn’t, it wouldn’t bother me.

          • on April 27, 2009 at 2:49 pm merry27

ugh..the parents bug me! she looks more like the hot teacher they would have a crush on than the mom. Their real mom looks young but still like a mom.
hopefully the “parents” screen time will be extremely limited.

  20. on April 26, 2009 at 8:54 pm flamom

OK last thing – I need more pajamas screencaps. Very cute.

And I love Nick’s bed – did you see Joe sitting on the edge of the pit with his legs in Nick’s space? I just love all the storage Nick has around him, so cool.

  21. on April 26, 2009 at 11:26 pm coolmom823

Here’s a link to a piece that includes a sneak preview video of Kevin giving a tour of the set:

    http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00023808.html

  22. on April 27, 2009 at 1:06 am Trish

I can’t believe it’s almost here. Remember during the fall when May seemed liked forever?

Awesome bargains, Flamom! I recently found a set of Camp Rock flannel sheets at Target for $5! Of course, we live in Atlanta so we’ll have to wait a while to use them….LOL!

  23. on April 27, 2009 at 2:02 am flamom

OH my Trish, I will have to check my Target for those – I think my DD would like those. She wears her Camp Rock pajamas/nightgown constantly.

They also had a more-than-adorable pink guitar pick-shaped purse thing but it was not useful. But it was cool! :) They actually had a LOT of stuff – those BIG buttons that are just awful in every way, smaller buttons, lots of old posters, t-shirts, “backstage” passes necklaces, beanies, caps, many many tote bags ($5).

Part of me always wants to just buy everything but the other part of me tries to keep that other part sane and rational. (sometimes it works and sometimes it does not)

  24. on April 27, 2009 at 2:32 am Tiffany

random and off topic. but check out this video!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAG5bGSYxog
its a fan made video, but its amazing.
Mama and Papa J did a good job for sure.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:01 am cpaig

      Awww, that is very sweet!

    • on April 28, 2009 at 10:03 am cpaig

can any of you see this video? I am guessing it is a new WordPress thing… I just see a big blank space.

  25. on April 27, 2009 at 8:24 am DaniLyn85

That pizza video is cute. Any video where I can see Joe playing the guitar is amazing. Loved the part where Kevin is covered in cheese. And I thought the pizza girl looked like Amanda Bynes, weird.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 9:04 am amandalovesjb

I read somewhere that apparently she is John Mayer’s current girlfriend?

      • on April 27, 2009 at 9:10 am cpaig

        I heard that too.

      • on April 27, 2009 at 9:21 am coolmom823

I have also read that…this is certainly her 15 minutes!

      • on April 28, 2009 at 6:34 pm Elisa

Yup, I read that too! From UsWeekly, but still… :D

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:51 pm merry27

I think she’s pretty! John Mayer huh? he dates a lot.

  26. on April 27, 2009 at 9:42 am Monica

OT…I know we don’t like to mention Miley on here, but has anyone read her recent Twittering about Nick? Interesting….

Re: JONAS – I will definitely need the cringe pillow, but am coming to terms with it! We are moving this weekend and have absolutely no cable, dish or any type of television, so we’ll have to catch it later or on YouTube or something. My girls are NOT happy about that! We are searching everywhere for the Seventeen magazine – apparently they are on the cover!!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 10:05 am mememoi

It’ll also be streaming straight from the Disney JONAS website and you’ll be able to buy episodes on iTunes (I assume)!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 10:08 am amandalovesjb

Monica, I had to stop following Miley on Twitter because if I read one more of her tweets where she talked about her ‘brudder’ or that she was going out ‘wiff’ someone or that she was in ‘wuv’ with someone I was going to barf. lol

      • on April 27, 2009 at 12:12 pm Monica

I hear ya…I agree, it’s kind of nauseating. And all of her “Jesus loves you” stuff – give me a break! I know Jesus loves me, and I don’t need Miley telling me so. I just get bored and start reading everyone’s Twitters. It’s kind of a sick obsession!

        • on April 27, 2009 at 1:24 pm Trish

Yes, but does He really love Miley?

(LOL….OK, that was mean, but I’m more than fed up with her…)

          • on April 27, 2009 at 2:54 pm merry27

it’s weird- a year ago I would say she wasn’t friendly with Nick, or Demi, or Selena and now apparently they are all her bff’s.

I can’t decide if it’s all real-they really like her? or if she’s like a queen bee and they’re all kind of afraid/in awe of her? or if they feel a tiny bit sorry for her?

and I’ve obvs. given this way too much thought!!

  27. on April 27, 2009 at 10:13 am amandalovesjb

    FYI:

    Cringe:

1cringe Listen to the pronunciation of 1cringe
    Pronunciation:
    \ˈkrinj\
    Function:
    intransitive verb
    Inflected Form(s):
    cringed; cring·ing
    Etymology:
Middle English crengen; akin to Old English cringan to yield, Middle High German krank weak
    Date:
    13th century

1 : to draw in or contract one’s muscles involuntarily (as from cold or pain)

2 : to shrink in fear or servility

3 : to behave in an excessively humble or servile way

4 : to recoil in distaste

I’m not sure any of these four definitions fits JONAS! lol

    • on April 27, 2009 at 10:25 am mememoi

      You are true blue, Amanda!!!

      • on April 27, 2009 at 10:28 am amandalovesjb

I know and I’m sure it’s annoying to ya’ll sometimes (or all the time)! lol

        • on April 27, 2009 at 10:34 am mollyanne

          NEVER annoying. :) That’s hilarious.

        • on April 27, 2009 at 11:13 am mememoi

LOL, NO, not annoying. :P It gives us balance.

        • on April 27, 2009 at 11:20 am cpaig

I LOVE your true blue-ness! You are not annoying – BRING IT ON!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:10 pm merry27

      Amanda-that is very cool!
      I don’t think I was aware of meaning #3.
      Interesting.

And I agree with all the other comments.. you are true blue and oh so important here. :)

  28. on April 27, 2009 at 12:06 pm Mae

I’m at such a loss after watching the “Pizza Girl” clip.

I really have no words. Kevin and Joe running around holding a piece of pepperoni?????? What in the…And Nick? Playing his guitar under his self-made shelter. WHY?????? Did Nick really describe the girl as smelling like toasted oregano. Yes, yes he did.

I admit I laughed. But probably for all the wrong reasons.

    I would place myself at a 6-7 on coolmom’s cringe-o-meter ;)

Oh boys, I still love you.

“I CRINGE because I LOVE” couldn’t be more true.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:12 pm merry27

why “toasted” oregano? I love the smell of oregano just find the way they call it toasted a bit odd.

  29. on April 27, 2009 at 2:42 pm flamom

Toasted oregano sounds more poetic? The pepperoni was a makeshift shelter LOL!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:59 pm merry27

but does it sound more poetic?? hmmmmm.
I’m just wondering. not too fussed about it.
I did enjoy the clip. and was very happy no one got drenched in any sauce.

  30. on April 27, 2009 at 2:43 pm flamom

and an unkosher shield at that. LOL I’m calling the ADL :)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:57 pm merry27

      :)

  31. on April 27, 2009 at 2:48 pm flamom

I’m so happy Joe and JT got to go to church unattacked in Australia :) . Hillsong Church is apparently the largest church in Australia. Wow.

    http://hillsong.com/

    • on April 27, 2009 at 2:57 pm merry27

yeah I saw that! I can just imagine it:

“Mom and Dad if you let me go to Australia I PROMISE I’ll go to church. Please?!”

      very admirable.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 3:29 pm lemming5fe

Hillsong is huge – my mom has a bunch of Hillsong worship CDs, and we sing some of their songs at my church. That’s great they got to go!

      • on April 27, 2009 at 3:34 pm merry27

it looks amazing..and they can go while they are on the world tour because they have some very cool locations.

  32. on April 27, 2009 at 2:50 pm flamom

PS that blu-ray 3d concert disc sounds like it’s going to be expensive! uh oh. I am planning to get it in blu-ray since my DH and I are attemtping to upgrade all our audio equpment/

  33. on April 27, 2009 at 5:24 pm flamom

ha ha did everyone see the new video on FFE? I love Joe’s and Nick’s “reading voices” – they sound so similar. Nick is sounding so much like Joe now (speaking not singing). Joe barely got thru the script but no one laughed at him, awesome. It was recorded like 1-2 weeks ago I think!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 9:39 pm DaniLyn85

I just saw it. Nice freeze-frame face at the beginning Joe, lol.

  34. on April 27, 2009 at 6:11 pm coolmom823

    Hello ladies.

I spent the afternoon doing Jury Duty (for the 7th time in my life!) and happily didn’t get put on a panel! Can I get a WOOT from all Revelers please? :D

    • on April 27, 2009 at 6:26 pm merry27

      woot woot!!
Here’s to coolmom doing her civic duty!

we have a call-in system here. So you clear a few days and then (hopefully) don’t get called and can spend the day doing whatever you want while everyone thinks you are at jury duty.
not that that’s ever happened to me ;)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 6:40 pm Trish

Am I the only person in the world who LIKES jury duty?! I’ve only been called once and got on a trial…very interesting!

My dad was summoned probably a dozen times and my sister has quite a few, too.

      • on April 27, 2009 at 7:11 pm merry27

I like to see the process…but I’ve never been chosen for a trial.
        It is interesting.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:08 pm tlatzotzontli

woot! So far I’ve never been called to jury. *knocks on wood* haha, watch I’m gonna get called sometime soon.

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:15 pm mememoi

      Woot.

But I’ll chime in and say I am BUMMED I have never been called for duty since college (when I had to opt-out, living out of town) and I would LOVE to be on a trial!

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:58 pm coolmom823

I’ve already been on 2 juries, so I feel not a shred of regret at missing out today. ;)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 9:14 pm cpaig

Oooh, I love Jury Duty (only done it once). The whole process is just a little pesky though.

I am glad that you got a reprieve this time, Coolmom!

    • on April 29, 2009 at 2:05 am lenzmom

I’ve only gotten to serve on a jury once. The other 2 times I’ve been called, I’ve been excused almost as soon as I entered the courtroom. I guess they don’t want law enforcement personnel on juries these days, wonder why? LOL

  35. on April 27, 2009 at 6:54 pm Trish

Too funny! The TJ newsletter just came in my email. This excerpt cracked me up:

“The new show everybody and their mother have been waiting for premieres May 2nd on the Disney Channel.”

LOL, they’re onto us, ladies! ;)

    • on April 27, 2009 at 7:12 pm merry27

      haha. missed that!

  36. on April 27, 2009 at 7:21 pm flamom

I totally saw that and about Mothers Day. I guess they are shouting out to us for driving our “kids” to the concert. Uh huh.

I am feeling so ugh toward Team Jonas. I need some time.

  37. on April 27, 2009 at 11:02 pm ponedbyjb

    Is it Saturday yet…

  38. on April 28, 2009 at 12:52 am flamom

OK – I have to tell you ladies about this book I’m reading. I found it at the library, had no idea it existed … Andy Taylor from Duran Duran’s “Wild Boy” – kind of a tell-all book.

    OMG. It’s crazy.

  39. on April 28, 2009 at 1:04 am Trish

I’ll have to check that out and relive my youth. ;)

  40. on April 28, 2009 at 1:05 am flamom

Trish, be careful. The Internet did not exist back then and I did not know ANY OF THAT.

    OK – is this true????
    http://www.polyvore.com/kevin_jonas_is_godfather/set?id=7282108

    • on April 28, 2009 at 1:32 am amandalovesjb

Sarah Everhart is apparently Aly & AJ’s cousin? I’ve read she is friends with both Kevin and Danielle. Don’t know about the god father part but it stands to reason, I guess.

  41. on April 28, 2009 at 1:08 am flamom

OK – just one thing – Simon split his pants onstage. Wait til you read about that. Nightmare!

Some of it is pretty darn funny. And most of it is pretty awfully sad.

And all of it proves to me how wonderful our Jonas boys are (not that I needed any proof).

    • on April 28, 2009 at 1:40 am Trish

      Oh, I can only imagine!
JB lives by an entirely different set of standards which makes me so, SO proud to be a fan.

  42. on April 28, 2009 at 8:17 am flamom

These SayNow msgs are totally adorable but boy, way to waste an opportunity girls.

Nick’s on your PHONE talking to YOU and ugh, you don’t say anything substantial to him. I can’t imagine what is going thru his mind.

Joe definitely seems to enjoy it more. Nick is probably feeling self-conscious.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:08 am amandalovesjb

      http://www.saynow.com/rockylover1

Link in case anyone needs it. I agree Nick might have been self-conscious.

I love in Joe’s message back how when the girl says, “YOU DID?” and Joe says, “I DID!” in the same high voice back.

Each of their calls really shows their personalities. Kev is very sweet but all business, gets all the deets from her, etc. Nick is all business too, kind of just says what he came to say and gets off, Joe has a little fun with her, not telling her who is is right up front, etc. Fun.

Although I don’t leave SayNow messages anymore, if I every got called? I would prob be a blithering idiot.

      • on April 28, 2009 at 9:09 am amandalovesjb

Ugh, that’s “if I EVER get called”.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:38 am amandalovesjb

I’m totally talking to myself this morning but anyway, the other thing about Nick’s call to the girl is that she says to her dad, ‘one of the Jonas Brothers is on my phone right now’…lol I would have said NICK J but maybe her dad wouldn’t have known ‘Nick’, just ‘one of the Jonas Brothers’. You get my point, right? lol

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:43 am cpaig

I didn’t get it. Or I totally missed it. It was a Nick Call?

      • on April 28, 2009 at 9:51 am flamom

Yes, I love to hear his voice. He basically does just say what he needs to say like Amanda said. But what can he do when she is not really interacting with him, just kind of flipping out.

It must be so hard for them to try to relate to people when those people just see them as celebrities or “theJonasBrothers” and not really people. Does that make sense?

I guess I’m just past the stage where celebrities are bigger than life – to me they are just people more or less like me, doing a career that is different than mine.

I do look up to the Jonas Brothers which might be strange since I am older than they are, but IMO they are way stronger than I ever was or am. And being kind of uncoordinated myself, I love their physicality and of course their talent, which is also something they have and I don’t.

But I think of them as real people not as a “thing.”

        • on April 28, 2009 at 11:17 am amandalovesjb

So Sondra, what would a convo sound like if Nick called you?! :)

Nick: Hi Sondra, this is Nick Jonas. Got your SayNow message and we just wanted to call and say thanks for supporting us.

          Sondra: ?????

What would you say if you had your 5 minutes to talk to him??

          • on April 28, 2009 at 1:24 pm flamom

Oh wow. Well, I couldn’t really talk if I knew it was on the Internet. Because I would sound so simpering.

I would have to spend some time telling him why he is so extraordinary. Gosh, then I would have to ask him questions.

          • on April 28, 2009 at 1:24 pm flamom

Oh PS I don’t do Say Now – never figured that out. Too hard for me LOL!

  43. on April 28, 2009 at 8:20 am flamom

I’m def not a fan of that little bowler hat of Nick’s – it just seems like it sits too high up and shows too much of his forehead – but in the new pic from Bayer, you can kind of see what Nick is going to look like when he matures some more. He looks older.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:00 am amandalovesjb

      http://nickssimplewins.com/nicksblog

My issue with the bowler is that it covers up his curls, and I LOVE his curls. :) Cute pic, though.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:46 am cpaig

I like the hat & I like the curls – hmm dilemma :)

That is a v. cute pic!

He is the designated vacation ambassador apparently. That is cool….

  44. on April 28, 2009 at 9:34 am amandalovesjb

I just got this email from Amazon and I almost had a heart attack:

Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience (Two-Disc Extended Edition + Digital Copy) is now available to order from Amazon.‏

What they neglected to say is that you can now PRE-order it from Amazon and it will be released on June 30 (I think Molly brought that to our attention awhile back). :)

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:54 am cpaig

      Ooooooooooh!

      Linky! http://www.amazon.com/Jonas-Brothers-Concert-Experience-Blu-ray/dp/B001NPD9OK/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1240926828&sr=8-2

  45. on April 28, 2009 at 9:53 am flamom

No more ordering in advance for me – now I go to the store and get my own copy! I learned my lesson with ALBL LOL.

Can you believe I am out of town on June 15???? So I will have to buy the new CD on iTunes and then get a “real” copy when I get home, or get to a store on vacation. LOL!

    • on April 28, 2009 at 9:56 am cpaig

That is a good point, but I am lazy – I’d rather just know it is on it’s way then brave the Target.

This coming from a person who stays up until midnight so I can download the album as soon as possible.

  46. on April 28, 2009 at 9:54 am flamom

Here is what my e-mail from Amazon said:

Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience (Two-Disc Extended Edition + Digital Copy)

Pre-Order Price Guarantee! Order now and if the Amazon.com price decreases between your order time and release date, you’ll receive the lowest price.

Availability: This title will be released on June 30, 2009. Pre-order now!. Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.

    Price: $27.99

(This is not the Blu-Ray version though. Why are they charging $17 more for the Blu-Ray? Is that normal?)

    • on April 28, 2009 at 10:01 am cpaig

I thought they were selling it as that DVD/Blue Ray/Digital Copy thing that Disney is doing now. I thought that is the only way the were selling it – no?

I am exited about digital copy, I got to say.

      • on April 28, 2009 at 10:10 am mollyanne

Digital Copy what?!?! That’s it, I’m going to have to invest in a super ipod between now and then. Like the biggest and baddest one that holds all kinds of everything. My iphone is completely full with just music right now and I’ve got to get all of the JONAS episodes + the digital copy of the movie on there. UGH!

Any suggestions from anyone where to find the best deal?

        • on April 28, 2009 at 10:23 am cpaig

          don’t ask me about a deal – I am a sucker – I buy directly from apple.

          • on April 28, 2009 at 10:31 am mollyanne

Hmmm not a bad idea- I could probably get away with not paying sales tax if I ordered it online through them.

        • on April 28, 2009 at 1:25 pm flamom

I also buy from Apple. Safer I think.

  47. on April 28, 2009 at 10:06 am flamom

They seem to still have two versions – this is the “regular one” link

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001NPD9OA/ref=ord_cart_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance

and your link above is the Blu-Ray. The prices are almost identical at Amazon – I guess I should preorder the Blu-Ray to lock in the good price? I’m waiting on my DH to confirm we are upgrading.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 10:11 am cpaig

      Hmmm – interesting.

I think I will by the one with Blue Ray… why not?! (other than the price thing.)

      • on April 28, 2009 at 11:30 am flamom

so do you have a Blu-Ray player then?

DH & I are discussing it, and we figure we’ll get a new DVD player by June 30 – I want to move our old one into the bedroom for my workouts anyway.

Only prob will be that Blu-Ray discs don’t play in an older DVD player, so I won’t be able to watch the 3D movie in the bedroom if it’s Blu-Ray.

Hey, there is always Camp Rock I guess. I wish Camp ROck weren’t so TOTALLY cringe-inducing speaking of cringing. Other than Joe’s parts and the music parts, I can hardly stand it! I need a version with just the Joe/Connect 3 parts LOL.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 11:32 am Trish

They’d better have 2 versions ’cause no way can I afford a BluRay player after the fortune I spent on concert tix! LOL!

  48. on April 28, 2009 at 10:08 am flamom

PS I have both vers in my cart and the only “actor” listed that is shown is “Nick Jonas.” LOL!

  49. on April 28, 2009 at 11:33 am flamom

If I could send a letter to Camp Rock people for CR2 – I’d beg them to please watch HSM and try to get actors like those actors … and not bring anyone back from the first one, excpet Demi and I can live with Anna. But the others I would not use again. Especially the grownups – ugh! I don’t know what it is – I guess it’s also mainly a dialogue/plot problem, but I love the characterizations in ALL the HSM movies and it does NOT work in Camp Rock.

And PLEASE CALL KENNY ORTEGA. PLEASE. Just sayin’. PLEASE.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 12:01 pm Trish

I agree – the quality of HSM just wasn’t there.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 12:46 pm coolmom823

I’m with you flamom. Kenny’s touch was sorely needed in Camp Rock.

      • on April 28, 2009 at 1:36 pm flamom

        SORE. LY. Oh yeah.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 7:41 pm Elisa

You’re all probably going to hate me but I think HSM is incredibly overrated. And I don’t think there’s much to say about the plot in those movies. Especially the second one, it didn’t make any sense to me! I’ve watched them all like a million times (due to my Efron obsession, lol) and I still do sometimes, but I don’t think that the movies are anything especially great. What is special in HSM, though: the music is awesome, and come on, what girl doesn’t like Zac Efron?

As for the actors in CR… I really liked Mitchie’s mom (Maria Canals Barrera?), and Demi of course. I really hated “Uncle Brown” – ugh he just really annoys me for some reason, lol – and, I don’t know, I found Alyson Stoner’s character pretty annoying too. OH and the girl who sang the “Who’s got what it takes to be my guy, what it takes to make me shine etc.” song – that scene is the only one I can’t watch. I skip it every time, I just really hate that song! :) And the dance…

But I really like CR. And the first thing my parents said when I made them watch CR was “Well this was much better than HSM!”. (I once made them watch that one too. And the sequel. :D The things they do to make me happy… Lol.)

      I guess it’s just a matter of opinion! : )

I always do this, go on and on even though I don’t have anything interesting to say. It’s a gift, it really is! :P Rant over…

      • on April 28, 2009 at 9:30 pm mememoi

I am the one girl who doesn’t like Zac Efron!

I mean…I see the appeal, I do. I just feel no spark. I think am the same about Robert Pattinson – wholly indifferent! I can’t go on looks alone.

And I am glad you prefer CR to HSM, Elisa!!!

I see more consistency in HSM (I didn’t enjoy the 2nd so much, but found 1 & 3 pretty dang charming.)

I think I just wanted CR to be more something…more edgy? Something? But with the Boys in it, I could never be too objective. :)

    http://justjaredjr.buzznet.com/2009/04/28/nick-jonas-burger-king-boy/

Whatever Papa J is telling Nick, Nick sure is intent on it. So adorable. These were just taken this morning in the Nashville Airport. Maybe he’s coming home??

    • on April 28, 2009 at 1:29 pm flamom

Oh yeah, he loves his dad so much. His dad has really been there with him for everything.

I truly believe if Nick weren’t “called” to deliver his message through music, he would have taken after his dad and been an awesome youth leader and pastor. He was definitely going to bring the word.

      I love their dad. :D

  51. on April 28, 2009 at 1:26 pm flamom

I’m so glad Papa and Mama J got one of their boys to be with. Where was Kevin anyway?

  52. on April 28, 2009 at 1:28 pm flamom

why do they keep talking about Jordan Pruitt when we already know he was with Leeland??????

    • on April 28, 2009 at 2:15 pm mememoi

I thought he spent time with both?

      • on April 28, 2009 at 10:33 pm flamom

Well, we know that because we’re awesome. But the media only seems to care about Jordan Pruitt, Jordan Pruitt, blah blah blah. :)

  53. on April 28, 2009 at 1:31 pm flamom

Oh ps I’m sorry! garrulous again!

I love Nick’s sweater! That is gorgeous.

    • on April 28, 2009 at 7:20 pm DaniLyn85

I was just going to mention that, I love it.

  54. on April 28, 2009 at 1:35 pm flamom

Nick looks sweet in those pics. What a nice scene with him and his dad sharing fries (not sure if he can eat any though, if they’re salted!).

I wonder if his dad will record any more music himself at some point.

Whoever spied on them taking these pictures needs to know one pic would have been fine (asking permission first). They might have posed even. And then you could let them eat in peace. I know they are totes used to invasion of privacy but gosh!

    • on April 28, 2009 at 2:57 pm amandalovesjb

Do you mean Nick, or Papa J can’t eat salted fries?

I think for Nick it’s not about salt, it’s just about carbs/sugars and managing his blood sugar.

I think he can eat what he wants but he has to pump more insulin if he eats sugars/carbs.

      • on April 28, 2009 at 10:34 pm flamom

apparently high sodium is really dangerous to people with diabetes. There is an article about it in the Rite Aid diabetes mag that Nick was on the cover of. :( Scary! I felt sick reading it. :(

    • on April 28, 2009 at 7:15 pm Jan

It looked like there were 2 boxes of fries so I think they each ordered them.

  55. on April 28, 2009 at 7:48 pm Elisa

Did you read Denise’s interview on JHQ? It was so sweet!

“And Joe had an adorable face, my husband’s grandmother would always say, ‘Joseph is too pretty to be a boy.”

Great Grandma knows what she’s talking about!

    • on April 29, 2009 at 3:18 am tlatzotzontli

I haven’t read the interview yet, but I’m loving that quote. haha. :)
