We Feel Like We’re Giving a Piece of Ourselves in Each Song. [Awesome]

March 26, 2009 by mememoi

jonas2

Wow, I had forgotten (well, sort of) how very much I love to hear them do some straight talk about producing and performing music (and all of their other hard work)…it feels oddly like it has been a while!!

The LA Times’ Pop & Hiss blog can be a bit of a pisher towards the Boys, but I have to suck it up and thank them heartily for this one – it really made my evening!

Peep those in-the-round stage renderings (!!!) – and enjoy the video (and some goodies) after the jump…

posted with vodpod

What do you think of their cover ideas?

The Jacksons: “I Want You Back”

The Osmonds: “One Bad Apple”

Any preference? Both? Neither?

I could not adore them any more if I tried!!! i am so excited for all that lies ahead.. we are so lucky, and so lucky to have each other to squee with!! I love how Joe looks at them when they are talking.. it really shows his heart! I love that they took south park, and family guy in stride! I am SO far beyond excited to hear this new album!! I know it is totally going to blow everyone out of the water, and be totally kick ass!!!

Okay, shutting up… for now.. ;)

  2. on March 26, 2009 at 11:31 pm mememoi

BTW – A THIRD show in Uniondale?! Amazing!

  3. on March 26, 2009 at 11:41 pm coolmom823

Don’t want to be a downer, but I’m honestly not blown away by those cover ideas. Maybe because they’re SUCH staples of oldies radio and I’ve heard them so much, but I don’t know, they’re not grabbin’ me.

But hey, this is JB. I want to be proved wrong, and I’ll be the first to admit it if it’s so. They’ll probably use some smokin’ horn stuff, and it’ll be completely fun. Either way, I’ll be dancing in the aisles EXACTLY ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!

I probably would have said “heh?” to Gonna Getcha Good, and I turned out to really like it.

    • on March 26, 2009 at 11:41 pm coolmom823

Wishful thinking, duh! It’s FOUR months from today!

    • on March 26, 2009 at 11:48 pm mememoi

Whatever they do, I’m sure they’d make it their own…esp. considering no one in that group has that high voice anymore, featured in both songs (unless Frankie is secretly as prodigious as Nick once was, LOL)…I think they were just throwing some stuff out at random. We’ll see!

I wonder how the process goes. Do they try out a dozen songs and see what sounds best when they start rehearsing? So many questions.

  4. on March 26, 2009 at 11:42 pm flamom

I just borrowed Osmondmania from the library – it has EVERYTHING on it – some of it is more horrible than I remembered LOL … but oh god some of it is PRECIOUS.

I love One Bad Apple!! If anyone wants any of this CD set, just let me know and I’ll put it on Box.net ..

  5. on March 26, 2009 at 11:46 pm flamom

Nick’s “One Bad Apple” (“Crazy Kind of Crush”) is so sweet I love it!

Ohhhhhh, can I mush on Joe’s speaking voice for a sec? It’s so soft and I enjoy it so so so much.

  6. on March 26, 2009 at 11:47 pm flamom

Well, coolmom I was not blown away by “Take On Me” – I feel I got enough of it in the 80s (I LOVED it then) so yeah, sometimes it’s a miss (not a fail, they couldn’t fail us – just not a win – a “medium”)

    LOL

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:09 am mememoi

So far the biggest wins for me have been Joe’s Switchfoot cover & “Freefallin’”, and “No Air” REALLY surprised me!

But this is because I’m such a sucker for Joe, I suppose. :D

      • on March 28, 2009 at 3:07 am flamom

Keith Urban apparently does Free Fallin live too … it’s on the DVD I just got today – haven’t heard it yet!!!!!

  7. on March 26, 2009 at 11:56 pm coolmom823

Good points ladies. I’m probably just being curmudgeonly. Forgive me, I’m sure whatever they decide on will be fun.

  8. on March 26, 2009 at 11:57 pm flamom

So Family Guy – Jonas approved/South Park – nonapproved LOL!

Ladies – did you HEAR Nick talk about the wide spectrum of fans’ ages – I was thrilled! And then I heard him say —- 8 year olds AND THEIR 25 YEAR OLD PARENTS. What!? I did not even start having kids until 31 …

    Nick – do the math!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:10 am mememoi

HA!! I immediately thought of you when he said that. I didn’t make the cut either. Le Sigh. Heehee.

  9. on March 27, 2009 at 12:00 am coolmom823

17 year olds having babies, eh Nick? Say it ain’t so!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:10 am mememoi

      LOL!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:10 am mememoi

      But he did love Juno…

  10. on March 27, 2009 at 12:08 am flamom

That’s when Nick shows his age – 25 to him must sound OLD. LOL

I mean hello? honey! your mom and dad have an 8 year old and they’re 43, 44 … and they are the norm these days!

I was so happy for a moment, oh Nick …

  11. on March 27, 2009 at 12:23 am mememoi

Oh and speaking of covers. I was just observing that the guy walking behind Joe in those lovely photos from today looks like Nuno Betancourt…you know, from the band Extreme?!

That would be my choice for a lowkey acoustic cover for them to do – “More Than Words“…even though it’s kinda (totally?) about sexin’. Oh well. LOL. I think they could really pull it off!

Am I just showing my era here? I LOVE it. :)

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:24 am mememoi

      - Man, he was gorgeous too, Nuno, in his day (on the guitar if you watch the vid). Don’t do drugs, kids!!!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 8:13 am merry27

I was wondering about those guys too-Beverly Hills looking kind of hip.

and that would be a great cover for them.

especially for these small Ryman type shows I need to see them play some day.

  12. on March 27, 2009 at 12:32 am flamom

I would like that song sung by Joe better than by Extreme! :)

  13. on March 27, 2009 at 12:34 am flamom

A lot of those metal guys were very cute and did not age well. Mark Slaughter for instance. He was so cute. You know who did okay – Kip Winger the last time I saw him looked good.

  14. on March 27, 2009 at 1:18 am Trish

I cracked up at that, too – 25 year old parents! I was thinking, “Yeah, add 10 years to that, sweetie!” But at least he didn’t wipe his hands when he said it… :)

I’m thinking I like the stage. I was a little apprehensive at first since I really enjoyed the feel of the ampitheatre last summer. But this looks like it will be interesting! And I’m glad I’ll be going 3 times to make sure I can take everything in.

  15. on March 27, 2009 at 1:21 am Trish

    Kevin in jeans: Oh. My.

He just kills me in plain jeans.

As for cover songs, I don’t even recall that Osmonds song. I love Take On Me (unlike Flamom, I didn’t like it in the 80’s, but I LOVE the JB version!) and Getcha Good…WOW! So I’m sure whatever they do will be great.

  16. on March 27, 2009 at 1:47 am Trish

LOL, just got an email from the venue here in Atlanta – Presale! Friday morning @ 10! (Password is ATLANTA, if any lurkers really want to know) I’ll just have to peek in to see what comes up…

    • on March 27, 2009 at 6:11 am merry27

      ha…not too clever!

  17. on March 27, 2009 at 6:08 am merry27

yay for a new post and new interview!

I need to listen again because it’s early here and I’m down in the laundry room BUT I love, love I want You Back. It’s my favorite kind of pop song. One Bad Apple is also good but just not as smooth to me.

But both give you a feel for the new tour/music.
the stage is still making me a little dizzy.

25 year old parents of an 8 year old! Yep a reminder that when you’re 16 you have your peers and everyone else =old.

lol at the Juno reference mememoi.

  18. on March 27, 2009 at 8:14 am merry27

ha- my daughter watched the clip and said, “Why is Joe sitting so low? He looks like he came in third place!”

    • on March 27, 2009 at 8:34 am flamom

Absolutely – I know! I’m like, Sit Up Joe! :)

  19. on March 27, 2009 at 8:36 am flamom

I also particularly like “ABC” by the Jackson 5. Same type of song I guess.

No, I don’t want them doing a song like that … I’d rather they do something complicated, melodic, moody OR very musically intense – something difficult!

  20. on March 27, 2009 at 9:30 am mememoi

Ooh, we finally got our official seating chart for Philly – about time!

    http://www.wachoviacenter.com/seating/images/jonasBrothers.jpg

    • on March 27, 2009 at 9:44 am coolmom823

That’s cool to see mememoi. When I look at this, my seats are equivalent to your Section 6, though called Section D at my venue. My venue website doesn’t have a specific seating chart yet, those rat-finks!

Where are you guys sitting again?

      • on March 27, 2009 at 9:48 am mememoi

Very similar to you, coolmom, but on the other side – Section 3, row 3. Mid-rowish.

        • on March 27, 2009 at 9:58 am coolmom823

          Hey, we’re kitty-corner !

          • on March 27, 2009 at 10:44 am merry27

            those are great!!
mine would be the equavilent of section 113 so I guess the real VIPs will be in 112.

            • on March 27, 2009 at 10:51 am mememoi

For which show, merry? Are you going to 3 shows and which I am soooo confuuuuuused these days. LOL

              • on March 27, 2009 at 11:15 am merry27

                no just 2,
                New Jersey on 7/15
                and Uniondale on 7/20

just my daughter on 8/11 in Arizona.

                Our VIP are on 7/20.

yep it’s confusing to me too!

  21. on March 27, 2009 at 9:35 am merry27

ok so my last ticket story:
we decided not to go to the concert the day before our VIP show but I wanted to check for tickets to see if we could get something amazing.

there was no bundle option at 9:00. Interesting, right? The bundle sale starts at 4:00.

But I still had a code floating around and had it in at about 9:05. I tried for about 1/2 hour and there were some ok lower level not the first lower level but the 2nd. And 3 sets of floor seats but they were off to the side and maybe 10 rows back from the end of the catwalk.

    so I didn’t get anything.

wondering if anyone else tried today?
    any luck with Philly?

    • on March 27, 2009 at 9:47 am mememoi

Ours begins at 10, on the venue site. I tried our TJ code and it didn’t work, but luckily I signed up for the venue cyberclub and the sent me a presale code last night that is working…I am okay with higher level, but I wouldn’t mind central LLs….we’ll see!

      • on March 27, 2009 at 10:24 am mememoi

Alrighty then – I am glad to be done with that. They were definitely going fast! Whew. It felt harder than last time.

I was trying to consider my little one’s needs above all but when I was comparing 200 levels and 100 levels and I had to go for the 100s. But off-center in the mid-section of 115, not total corner but close to it. I think it’ll be great for her. And Cpaig & I will have some diverse views of this show!

I was checking out the virtual view (I LOVE these) and this looks fine. I think it’s true, there are no bad seats for this show. Just seats that are less close to the Boys& Co. (where we all want to be.)

I have to admit that I too still find the staging totally confusing (in an exciting way!) but I am pretty pleased that I’ll be seeing it from a few perspectives.

I hope our DC tickets sell! The prices ridonk on stubhub, so we should be able to move them by not going for the total gouge.

The StubHub “value” of our seats on the 24th however, are astounding. I can’t believe people are reselling tickets (often non-VIP) for thousands. Will be interesting to see how they sell.

        • on March 27, 2009 at 10:32 am merry27

          that sounds similar to mine…

but I thought that we’re still better off doing Jersey, than Long Island.

and yeah it is hard to get that perspective! Thatas why the Dallas show is so important.

It will be really interesting to see what happens with ticket resales too.
I don’t know about people paying that kind of money but I hope you get good prices for your DC seats.

          • on March 27, 2009 at 10:44 am mememoi

Yeah. I figure we’ll make back their cost and maybe cover some of the more painful extent of the 2nd Philly show & Dallas ticket expense. LOL.

All of this has been exhausting, let me tell you. I def bought until it hurt!! So I am extremely all done until it’s time to think about airfare, which is another matter that I prefer to put off – cuz we gots to eat. ;)

I love Trish’s suggestion of a garage sale. I need more of that enterprising spirit. And just in time for spring cleaning!

            • on March 27, 2009 at 10:47 am coolmom823

Are you singing my song today mememoi?

“Got me some floor seats, so I guess I’m good to go
But how I’ll make the house payment, the Lord Only Knows!

No, no, say it ain’t so, so.
              I’m so blue, what’ll I do, do.
Kevin, Nick and Joe, I love you so.
Mama’s got the Jonas Ticket Pre-sale blues!”

              ;)

              • on March 27, 2009 at 10:50 am mememoi

                Hells yes I am.

                • on March 27, 2009 at 11:32 am merry27

                  me too!

            • on March 27, 2009 at 10:47 am mememoi

BTW – they really need to make a show about Jonas ticket buyers called “Flip These Tix” or something, because that’s how I feel right now about hedging our bets like this.

              • on March 27, 2009 at 11:33 am merry27

lol…it has to be a better investment than real estate.

              • on March 27, 2009 at 12:08 pm Trish

‘Flip These Tickets’!! I Love it! That’s how I felt last year…this year, I’m keeping them all!!

            • on March 27, 2009 at 10:52 am merry27

              yeah it was exhausting!
I’m still thinking we might walk out of the show on 7/20 and decide we want to go the next night.

but whatever. Time to relax for a bit.

        • on March 27, 2009 at 5:10 pm flamom

I hope my Vegas tix bring in some money for me to defray my costs too.

Hey, I was offered an 8-seat loge box at the Sunrise venue – it’s a very VIP deal with a waitress, access to VIP rooms, food, etc. – for $2500! Oh what a bargain. LOL

          • on March 28, 2009 at 1:37 am Trish

If they can guarantee JB will be in the ‘VIP Room’ before or after the show, then I say go for it! :)

            • on March 28, 2009 at 2:58 am flamom

Nothng to do with JB! It’s nothing to do with JB …

  22. on March 27, 2009 at 11:33 am coolmom823

I am so excited :) about seeing JB live for the first time. I’ll think about it at odd tiimes, and just squeee silently to myself. I wonder what people think when they see me spontaneously squeeze my eyes shut and do a “happy dance” with my index fingers? That I’ve lost my mind? That I’ve got Tourettes? Either way, I’ll bet they feel sorry for me, lol! Little do they know how happy I am!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:10 pm Trish

ROFL!!! I can just picture you now, randomly squeeing everywhere! :)

    • on March 27, 2009 at 12:22 pm mememoi

AGH! I know, and I find it so unbelievable that it really is your first time. Awesome.

And just think, not so long ago you were saying it was never meant to be for you to see them live, ever.

      • on March 27, 2009 at 1:20 pm coolmom823

I remember that. I was pretty bitter in January. Well, I’m often bitter in January, but that’s because the weather is so lousy, hehe. Obviously, it wasn’t meant to be, and I’m GLAD, because I’d rather see the new show, and hear new songs, OMG I can’t wait, I’m so excited – I feel a squeeing happy dance coming on. . .

        • on March 27, 2009 at 2:07 pm mememoi

Yeah, I was just thinking – if only January Coolmom knew then how awesome fortune would turn!!! Heehee. :)

  23. on March 27, 2009 at 1:28 pm coolmom823

OK I’m back from my happy dance. It’s funny that I have this intense relationship (for lack of a better word) with JB and it’s all been secondhand, so to speak. Is their charisma like exponentially increased in the flesh? How will I stand the wonderfulness of it?

  24. on March 27, 2009 at 1:46 pm Tiffany

my first show was vegas, and I was honestly freaking out when they came out on stage for the first time. theres nothing like it!! And theres definitely nothing like the Jonas high that overtakes you for weeks after the show.

  25. on March 27, 2009 at 3:29 pm Trish

Yes, love that Jonas High, but the Jonas Low that creeps up after your last show is done with is really, really, really sad. :(

    • on March 27, 2009 at 5:13 pm flamom

Oh god, do you remember me last January after Nashville? I was crawling on the ground like a snake I felt so bad.

I don’t look forward to feeling like that again August 20.

I haven’t needed live shows to love the brothers so intensely as I do – the songs and the TV appearances and the interviews have been more than enough for me. The shows don’t hurt but the rest of it, and getting to know who they are, is what makes me love them. Their personalities and how they behave and how they think is what I love so much.

  26. on March 27, 2009 at 5:34 pm Tiffany

theres a john jay and rich interview from this morning.
its hilarious. They talk about wanting to start tweeting once the tour starts and their favorite websites.
    Some classic Jonas moments!

just click on the Jonas link!!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 5:38 pm mememoi

      Thank you!!

If anyone sees the Radio Disney Takeover out there, also, please post the links….we’ll try to blog them later! (Busy times, my friends, BUSYTIMES!)

      BTW- new SayNow!

  27. on March 27, 2009 at 8:48 pm flamom

May 2 is the PREMIERE JONAS SHOW!

    AIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

    8 pm!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 9:38 pm mememoi

      OMG an official date, yay!!

    • on March 27, 2009 at 9:45 pm coolmom823

      CANNOT WAIT!!! :)

  28. on March 27, 2009 at 9:10 pm flamom

Can we see the acoustic set somewhere from the Radio Disney thing today? Apparently they played Live to Party????

Do you think they might do Live to Party tomorrow night? Oh I couldn’t handle that.

    :)

    • on March 27, 2009 at 10:12 pm mememoi

Here’s one verson in the studio! Supercute. One flub for each singing bro. But they sound good – the guitar sounds great!

      • on March 28, 2009 at 3:05 am flamom

Awesome. Wow, I hope they do this tomorrow night.

So cool. Joe has some great pipes at the end there – great endurance.

  29. on March 27, 2009 at 11:29 pm ponedbyjb

Peeing in my pants over the LTP video… Thank you mememoi!!! That song is just my jam!!! WOW… I am going to get to see them sing in front of me… GAH!!!!! I am totally freaking out right now.. :)

  30. on March 28, 2009 at 1:47 am Trish

GAHHH! I forgot about Radio Disney. I’ve been so focused on remembering the KCA’s tomorrow. But, that accoustic LTP totally made up for it!

    • on March 28, 2009 at 3:24 am lenzmom

I forgot too. DH (who is totally in the doghouse today) thoughtfully left the TV on Disney XM when he left for work so it would be on when I got home. BUT, DS#2 and I got home just as it was wrapping up! Argh! It’s supposed to rebroadcast tomorrow at 4PM Pacific DST, but I won’t be able to catch it then either. :(

  31. on March 28, 2009 at 2:21 am Trish

    Here ya go, K! (And Flamom… :) )

    http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt113/JBTrish/JonasConcert505.jpg

Best picture I could get. This is the only one that was semi clear!

    • on March 28, 2009 at 2:34 am ponedbyjb

;) Thank you.. I have one that I really need to e-mail you.. it is pretty killer!

    • on March 28, 2009 at 2:59 am flamom

thanks! He’s okay looking but these days I’m all about Nick, Joe, Brad and Keith LOL

  32. on March 28, 2009 at 3:14 am flamom

I def need that LTP in an MP3 so if anyone can help me with that I would be forever grateful to you …

Why do you think Nick J changed the lyrics in the beginning? The original lyrics are cute. I like the new ones as well…

    • on March 28, 2009 at 3:29 am lenzmom

What were the new ones? I thought he just flubbed it a bit at the beginning.

      • on March 28, 2009 at 3:47 pm flamom

no flub – Nick changed the lyrics from “I’m so tired of reruns I’ve memorized this show” to “I’m so tired of routines the day goes on and on.”

to make sense as the JONAS theme song.

  33. on March 28, 2009 at 3:15 am flamom

OT – who is Darren Farris and why the heck is he following me? Does he think I am going to buy his CDs if he follows me?

  34. on March 28, 2009 at 3:53 am flamom

This might be helpful to a few of us –

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/event-tickets.html

I am not very restricted in FL but NJ has some regulations. I’m happy eBay is not stricter on this since I want to make sure I obey all the rules …

PS – I should also let you ladies know Team Jonas credited me $34.99 for my membership since I had to purchase add’l ones, and also the $29.99 for the renewal I purchased last week. It does not appear that they changed my renewal date from 7/28/10 so I’m not sure about that.

Not sure what I will do with those other memberships …

I’m still waiting for a reply to my e-mail to them. I’m trying to be patient because I’m sure they were swamped with refund requests.

I ended up sending another e-mail and made it “high priority” and put Urgent in the Subject line.

Apparently Live to Party is going to be the theme song for JONAS.

THAT’S why Nick changed the lyrics from “I’m so tired of reruns I’ve memorized this show” to “I’m so tired of routines the day goes on and on”!

Because we all know Disney Channel and RERUNS. Ha ha ha

You can hear the acoustic performance with the new lyrics here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXNqkY_dqow

    Hey!

Re. John Jay & Rich: I can’t believe Joe did that to Kevin! Lol, I thought Kevin was going to say “You know what, we never really fought that much” but then he goes and tells that Joe stabbed him with a pencil. Haha. :) Brothers…

I love the acoustic LTP! That song just makes me smile… And it also makes me want to dance. Lol.

Btw, exciting news – one of my friends told me that she’d love to go to Sweden with me (to see the Boys) if she has the money! I’m so happy… I really don’t want to go alone. :)
