The Boys have given us an epic 2008 retrospective blog post!
What a year this has been. There are probably not enough words to describe what an amazing year we have lived in 2008. It feels like we were just sitting here writing a blog for the end of 2007. Time has really moved faster than we could have imagined.
See what all they are thankful for in 2008 and what they are looking forward to in 2009 (conveniently augmented with loads of pics, vids, and links to our prior coverage) after the jump…
As we end the year we wanted to list some of the things we are thankful for in 2008 (and a few things we are excited about for 2009)
In 2008 we are thankful for:
- The opportunity to be on the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus tour and the HM 3D movie (which opened at Number 1)
- The When You Look Me in the Eyes Tour which started in February.
- Our first ever Kids Choice Award for Best Group
- Our first ever Teen Choice Awards. You made it possible for us to get 5 awards.
- Our first opportunity to tour outside the US. WE opened for Avril Livigne in Europe. It was a great opportunity to meet people from all over Europe. [More]
- Radio playing our songs – This year they played When You Look Me in the Eyes, Burnin’ Up, and LoveBug. [Ed-And they did many sweet radio interviews!]
- Our videos were well received – WYLMITEs, Burnin’ Up and LoveBug and you guys made them successful on TV and especially online.

- We did a short reality series for the Disney Channel called Jonas Brothers – Living the Dream. They followed us on our WYLMITEs tour.
We had a wonderful summer tour with The Burning Up Tour. We started in Canada and toured all over the US. It was amazing from beginning to end. Some of the highlights included, 3 Madison Square Gardens, release week for our ALBL CD, playing at Woodstock, Toronto, etc. During the tour we filmed our 3D movie. A lot of you might find yourself in the movie because we filmed it on most of the Burning Up Tour. [More]
- We visited MuchMusic in Canada following the European premiere of Camp Rock. It was a total surprise to see that many people in Canada that knew about our music. We can’t wait to visit more of Canada on our next tour.
- We released on new CD, A Little Bit Longer, around the world. It debuted Number 1 on the US Billboard Chart.
We released our 2 CDs and Camp Rock around the world.
- Jonas Brothers and A Little Bit Longer have gone Gold or Platinum in 27 nations outside the US (not inlcuding Camp Rock). All 3 CDs went Platinum in the US.
- We started filming our new TV show for the Disney Channel called JONAS. We can’t wait for you to see it. We have been working hard on this since September.
- We won our first American Music Award (AMA) for Breakthrough Artist. It was your votes that allowed us to win.
- We release our first book of photos from the last couple years that made it to Number 1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List for its category.
- We won an award for Best English act in Mexico. Then we went back for our first stadium show.
- At the end of the year we were nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy. We don’t even know what to say about this honor. It is a complete shock and thrill all at the same time.
This has been one of the best years of our lives. None of this would have been possible without you. You have made our dreams come true.
Thank you Disney, Hollywood Records, TV, radio, film, etc. But most of all THANK YOU!!!!
Looking ahead to 2009…
- In February you can see our new 3D movie
- Later in the year we will debut our Disney Channel how, JONAS
- AND…we will launch our first ever JB WORLD TOUR

Hey everyone, I haven’t commented in a few days, but I have been keeping up with the post. I hope everyone had a nice holiday and a few days of rest.
Phew, that list is amazing. How they accomplish all of that in one year baffles me. I like the added touch of this post with the pictures and videos. It really helps to show their busy schedule, as well as how much they have matured over the months. Can’t wait to see what other things they have in store in ‘09!
Once again, Cpaig, you have totally outdone yourself. How do you do it??!! Every single picture was perfect for the quote. Every single picture was an “Awwwwwwwww, I remember that one!” for me. I can’t believe how far they’ve come, and you’re right Tlatz, matured.
I love how Nick’s hair has shrunk. lol. I loved the curly mop haired 14-15 year old, but the well shaped curly headed 15-16 year old is something else.

I can’t believe the amazing year they’ve had. I’m so happy to relive it with them here. You can see how much they’ve changed from the first pic of the HM 3d concert to the Grammy announcement picture.

I can’t take all of the credit, thought, this was most definitely a joint effort between Mememoi and I – We had to cut the list in half just to get it done in a timely manner.
I wish we could have a joint byline.
Plus – they left out so much – like Rolling Stone, among other things. It is cool to see the moments they hold dear.
That Kevin “Thank You” pictures is one of my favorites too.
cpaig, I noticed the absence of the Rolling Stone cover as well! I thought for sure that they would have mentioned it. I think that may be my favorite highlight of the year for them.
Plus them mentioning it would have been a good excuse to post the cover shot ; P Although I do see it hidden in one of those collages.
And speaking of the collages, I loved those! I think I was mostly still lurking when you were posting them so I don’t believe I ever really commented on them – but I got such a kick out of them.
I love that picture of Kevin too-it’s sweet and poignant.
Not mentioning the RS cover was a bit weird but maybe they felt it was a bit mature for their fanbase? I love it too but my daughter sort of keeps it tucked away-I think it’s a bit too hot for her at 13.
And I agree Mae the collages are really special.
I think maybe they thought they were patting themselves on the back in that post so they left a few things out just because? I don’t know.
And Merry, Kayla has the poster of the RS cover conveniently across from her bed so you can’t really see it right when you walk in her room.
I just read a google alert that said, “Nick gets the giggles”. I was all excited to see a recent Nick laughing but it turned out to be the ‘Sound of Music’ interview when he was about 10 or so. Still cute…
Amanda you’re lucky-Elizabeth definitely keeps it hidden. But I love it!!

I’m wondering if someone else put together this list for them, since the # of TC awards is wrong, and some stuff is left off, and there are spelling/grammatical mistakes I can’t attribute to Kevin (Avril Lavigne – come on – they can spell her name).
I dunno…I would hope if it was a pro, there would be FEWER mistakes…and Kevin has admitted to being a terrible speller!

Wonderful comprehensive post ladies, natch. I’m perplexed at the errors in the info on the Myspace blog too. Maybe that means they did it themselves, and couldn’t remember everything on the spot?
I’m finding it hilarious that New York’s finest are frightened of the rabid tweeners! But then, there are few creatures on this earth more scary than a hormone-crazed, sleep-deprived teen-age girl!
I sort of figured that they wrote it themselves mostly because of the phrasing and spelling! I like that about it. And it makes sense that they couldn’t remember everything.

I don’t think his voice sounds so great in the end but I think that was the 3rd concert they had played that day. But the energy was totally there.
I got chills reading that. They’ve had such an amazing year… And 2009 is probably going to be even better for them. And they SO deserve it.

My favourite parts were Joe taking his jacket off (he does it on purpose, showing off those arms… That boy’s such a tease!), Nick playing the drums (mmmm) and Joe filming the crowd (and himself). And Kevin, well, just being himself. He’s always great on stage – he’s having a great time and it shows. I can’t wait to see the whole movie!
I missed all the conversation on the last two threads so I haven’t been able to comment on this yet… Mememoi and cpaig, you’re going to the Ryman show, too? That is awesome!! Can’t wait to hear _every detail_. From all four of you!

I figured out what I’m wearing on Sunday. OK, so I decided on – black Jonas Brothers tank top, black shrug and jeans (dark blue LOL) and black heeled boots. The tank is a bit unusual for everyday … but perfect for a concert, and anyway, the shrug makes it look great IMO.

Ok, so I packed all day and have two suitcases (one gigantic) FULL of wintery type things for the 4 of us.
I still haven’t done multiple personal things, like my nails. And I haven’t packed anything other than shoes and clothing. And we all know esp. with kids, there is a lot more to packing than shoes and clothing.
Plus my eBay store keeps rolling and I have to ship and make a final trip to the PO tomorrow.
And I’m seeing the doctor because I have laryngitis and just want to check that I’m viral and not bacterial (in which case I want antibiotics).
I’m still working on laundry and general cleaning up before we go …
Oh boy tomorrow is going to be rough. I’m sure you can all tell I’m kind of anxious by nature so preparing to go away is always stressful for me, even though I really don’t think it should be!!
At least I know I get to see the guys tomorrow night this time.
I went out tonight to get some L/S tees for myself – yes, I had NONE – and I also bought 2 scarves – purple with silver threads, and black with silver threads. I love them! I channel a little bit of Joe … they are the thinner cotton type scarves he wears sometimes … and feel a little more “rockstar” myself.

So … I guess I am going to bring my camera into the auditorium in a makeup bag as someone suggested elsewhere. I don’t think the JB prohibit cameras. I’m not bringing any videocamera of course, and I don’t usually take video with my iPhone but I think I can – I also can with my camera – so maybe I’ll ask DH to take a little video just for the heck of it. It’s not like I’d post it on YouTube or anything, but I could put it on Photobucket and share it with all of you.
Oh I just can’t wait to get on the road. Did I mention I have bills to pay tomorrow? You’d think I’d been doing nothing this whole week and a half!
I did get my hair colored and cut today too (so did DH but not for the Jonas Brothers LOL). It had only been 4 weeks and the gray was so bad – I think my hair is way more gray than brown at this point. I guess I’ll never know though.
My friend who cuts my hair has a 5 yr old DD who is really into Camp Rock right now. And we were looking at the USA Today with the JB on it, and my friend agrees that Joe is totally beautiful.
We discussed all 3 brothers for a while. She had been studying Nick’s hair in the Bayer ad since she cuts Ethan (my son)’s hair like Nick’s. It’s a really complicated cut he has, but he also is totally blessed with such beautiful loose curls. I told her he hadn’t always had curly hair so she said that was why. My son’s are a little tighter than Nick’s but not as tight as Denise’s and Kevin’s. It’s long in the front and shorter elsewhere like Nick is doing his right now. Funny that a 5 yr old and 16 yr old both look great in the same haircut …
ACK! So exciting!!!! (And so organized. I wish.)

The RS cover – is everyone happy with Nick and Kevin on it? I mean, Joe is over the top but Kevin and Nick are pretty normal. I wish they were a little more “sultry.” Or am I missing something?
Also – the ALBL cover, does everyone like Nick on it? He is hunched over and yeah, it’s kind of cute but I kinda want something different. Other than that I think the cover is SO spectacular.

I’m still going through all those millions of google alerts I have sitting in my inbox. Found some YouTubes I didn’t know anything about…did ya’ll? Maybe someone posted them on here and I missed it. Anyway, I’m not even sure what concert it was, a private one or something? It was apparently a week before the Las Vegas concerts. This short clip is Joe asking the audience what the band’s names are. No one said Ryan’s name so Nick whispered it in the mic, then Joe joked that he was Axl Rose.

These posters are actual prints that are usually hand numbered and sold at many shows throughout Nashville (and elsewhere). A print is typically made for most shows at the Ryman and I am crossing my fingers that one is made for the JB show.
They are incredibly cool and quite the memento.

I wish I could watch the show live but I’m going to have to wait till the videos hit the Internet… Can’t wait to see what songs they decide to include in the performance. I would love to hear “Can’t Have You’. Every time I hear that song, I just fall more and more in love with it. I know there’s not much of a chance of them actually playing it, but I’m crossing my fingers anyway! It’s a good thing I adore all their songs, so it doesn’t really matter what they play.

I just saw a clip on Disney Channel where some of the stars talk about their favorite moments of the new year….Nick said that it was his birthday because he got Elvis. It made me chuckle because instead of mentioning something from the looong list on their blog, he considers getting Elvis as the highlight of his year. Cute!
I’m so nervous about Joe’s beard! I hope I like it! Oh wow. It did not look so great at the movies but it probably takes a long time to come in – he’s only 19 …

Flamom I have seen hundreds of amazing posters confiscated at every venue we’ve seen them at! Unless you can sneak it in and make it small (which would be kind of sweet) it’s not worth it.

The Jonas previews are adorable. Just saw Kevin in plaid flannel pj’s, complete with long pointy night cap. Over the top cute. So I guess I will be tuned in to Disney until about 11:30. Then time to watch the Boys.
I am sort of excited about the beard (well, “beard” is probably being too generous, it’s scruff!), just because it would seem rebellious in a cute, harmless way. But it must be sanctioned by management because after the fan shots at the movies, I thought for sure the phone was going to ring in Dallas insisting he shave at once. LOL.
My first thought when I saw him all scruffy was that he is trying not to be so cute and pretty. Reminded me of a specific boy I knew in college who used to go to great pains to de-cutify himself at this same age. But it didn’t really work (the guy looked just like Rob Lowe), we all knew he was adorable. Sorry, Joe!!!
If it is approved from above I think it is an interesting idea…last year people noticed their outfits, it was a statement. This year, if Joe comes out fuzzy, the media will totally buzz about it, one way or another.

I guess it was a special concert for 30 radio contest winners from around the U.S. It was the day before the AMA’s and one person at the show was selected to attend the AMA’s with JB.
There’s a cute video of them singing “Please Be Mine” to two girls on stage. Also, when they first came out Joe said, “I’m sorry the Jonas Brothers couldn’t be here. We’re Maroon 5, and we’re going to play some songs covering the Jonas Brothers.” Too funny.

That Joe! Such a kidder. So far here in Idaho we’ve seen just a couple seconds preview of JONAS, but it was adorable. All these girls started chasing our boys and Nick made the cutest face ever.
Haven’t seen Kev’s pjs yet.
