Joe Jonas Gets His List. [Kudos]

December 19, 2008 by mememoi

03_joe_jonas

This is nearly old news at this point, but any reason to post this positively marvy photo is a-okay with me!! [Here's hoping it warms those of you stuck in frigid below zero temperatures and frozen drizzlemistfog (!!) to the depths.]

In the deluge of year-end lists (which are quickly tiring me out) , our illustrious Joe J has at last scored a big top award of his own – as MTV has selected him their #3 Man of the Year, directly behind Kanye West and list-topper Lil Wayne.  So yay for Joe!!!

But is it such a simple joy? Muse with (or humor) me, over the jump…

Though unfortunately Kevin was left off this top ten entirely – complete with backhanded commentary (grrrrrr…), Nick scored a #7 placement on the same list.

However, despite the generally supercool company at the Top, which I think should rightfully be pleasing to the Boys (I mean, Joe is right on the heels of Kanye…KANYE!), I was left a little cold by MTV’s own description of their list – that it’s basically about who were the biggest newsmakers, and the corresponding snarky, gossip-laden summaries for each winner bear that out. Meh.

So even though it is always exciting to see them get such recognition, ever since the Grammy nomination, I just can’t get as thrilled about anything that doesn’t, more than anything, shout from the rooftops what cool musical artists they are. Am I alone on this?

It makes me wonder how the Jonas boys and management themselves feel about such dubious distinctions? My suspicion is that, as busy guys, they find amusement – and a quick ‘woot!’ – in the cooler ones that they have time to notice.  But I’d bet that altogether, earning a spot on lists that are kinda silly (I love you, People’s Sexiest Men Alive list, but you are silly) or overly full of snark (looking at you, DETAILS Power 40 list) or even being totally left off of other lists, is fairly hollow and probably rolls over them like water off a duck’s back.  Or at least, it probably should.

Maybe it’s the sarcastic writers that never quite get it, maybe it’s the rude commenters who are all too quick to chime in with their insults and blind praise for their own idols (so often at the expense of ours, how lovely).  Maybe I am just getting a bit jaded – but lately the lists make me shrug, because I am beginning to feel like the Boys are more than a bit above these ridonkulous lists.

But…what do you think?

What do I think? I think I love the word RIDONKULOUS! As a homeschooling mom, it will be on our vocab list when we start back to school in January;)

  2. on December 19, 2008 at 12:12 pm amandalovesjb

    Sweet gravatar, MKTIW!

Agree completely about ridonkulous. Is that kind of like adorkable?!

Also agree completely, Mememoi, about the boys shrugging off the dubious awards and lists. Meh is right. They know who they are, and hopefully they know how amazing they are, although they are so humble about it. LOVE THEM.

  3. on December 19, 2008 at 12:56 pm flamom

Lil Wayne? Ew. I don’t get his appeal at all.

  4. on December 19, 2008 at 1:02 pm mememoi

I can’t say I do either, flamom…though I haven’t tried very hard. Half listened to parts of one or two songs, and saw a piece of his set at a music festival…I will give him that he is very energetic!!! And boy did he draw a most massive crowd of college kids.

I’m adding this link on him, above – http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1601504/20081217/lil_wayne.jhtml – in case anyone cares to explore him further. LOL!

What did Kevin say about him? – he’s like a REAL LIVE PIRATE!!

  5. on December 19, 2008 at 1:44 pm flamom

I only have heard a couple songs but they were kind of vulgar. He seems to be the polar opposite of the JB.

  6. on December 19, 2008 at 1:45 pm flamom

Did Kevin mean that he murders, pillages, steals and molests? LOL! I hope not! Pirates are not very good people! :)

  7. on December 19, 2008 at 2:10 pm merry27

This is one of those random lists that can’t be taken seriously. If the guy from Tokio Hotel is ahead of Nick Jonas in any category well then….
I’m sure Joe was pretty confused when he read the reasons. Why not just say: hot guy, awesome front man, and all around nice, respectful human being?

Lil Wayne seems to be a hero to all suburban teenagers-my own included. Seems like a compelling story but I found the song Lollipop unbearable. Other songs not so bad…
But he looks redonkulous to me!! A pirate Kevin? Too funny.

We are having a snowy day project of Jonas Gingerbread men and Danger’s leg just fell off :( -not a great start.

  8. on December 19, 2008 at 2:21 pm merry27

    and mememoi, the picture…….thanks!!

  9. on December 19, 2008 at 3:34 pm maermae

Aw merry! What I wouldn’t give to be baking JB gingerbread at the moment! Especially with snow coming down outside!

Sitting at work and looking outside my office windows at the ridonkulous warm weather (67!!! – my windows are open) does not make it feel like it is nearing Christmas at all!

  10. on December 19, 2008 at 4:11 pm flamom

79 and sunny here today! Kids are about to go play in the backyard with shorts and t-shirts. :)

  11. on December 19, 2008 at 4:21 pm flamom

Photo with Kevin looking very handsome – and with interesting shoes … Joe has silver pants … Nick looks seriously sultry as usual LOL.

  12. on December 19, 2008 at 4:21 pm flamom

    And Joe’s hair – precious.

Sorry – another one. Kevin looks so cute, and so slender. It wasn’t even that long ago! But he looks really young. Is this Chelsea Staub with him?

warm weather ladies- you are very lucky!!

I think it was Calvin (and Hobbes) who said” if this is the future why do we still have weather?” I’m ready to turn off the snow now.

    Flamom where is the picture?

  15. on December 19, 2008 at 4:38 pm flamom

My last 3 posts did not show up for some reason. Ugh.

  16. on December 19, 2008 at 4:42 pm flamom

OK – still looking for other one – I’ll find it in a minute again. In meantime, here is Kevin (and Chelsea Staub??) looking so cute and slender!!!

I can’t get anything to post!

Sorry, Flamom. They were flagged for moderation for some reason – they should all be there now!

  19. on December 19, 2008 at 5:53 pm merry27

thnaks flamom-they are all sweet!! Can’t believe Kevin with his super straight hair.
And Nick is wearing the same jacket he wore at the mall apearance.

  20. on December 19, 2008 at 5:54 pm merry27

    appearance

  21. on December 19, 2008 at 6:58 pm flamom

Oh so sorry! :) I thought my computer was flaking out on me. LOL!

Maybe the “teen idols” prompted some sort of block!

  22. on December 19, 2008 at 7:00 pm flamom

These brothers have the sweetest relationship with each other. They are SO lucky to have each other.

  23. on December 19, 2008 at 7:22 pm mememoi

    Good evening, ladies!

I’m adding this over on “Best of 2008″, but wanted to shout it out here…the Boys got in the Top TEN albums of the year for one of the critics over at Entertainment Weekly – woot!

    http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20162677_20164091_20247309_2,00.html

  24. on December 19, 2008 at 7:29 pm flamom

Wow! I just got my copy. THey are not on the cover! It’s part of Chris Wildman’s “Second Opinion” column, so it’s like the second-tier Top 10 if that makes sense – an alternative Top 10 if you will! There is a photo of them on pg 101 – that one we’ve all seen a billion times. It says “Kid Rock – Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas” for the caption. The CD is #8 on this list.

I love “Imagine how good these bros might be in three years, when their chief songwriter is old enough to vote.”

Isn’t that what I’m always sayin’! It’s going to be unbelievable in the future. They are already so talented, and I just can’t even fathom what Nick will do in the future, as a prodigy kid.

There is also an EW.com poll that puts Taylor Swift in front as “the most promising” new act with 38% of the vote, next is Katy Perry with 35%, JB with 15% and Estrella with 12%. This is actually good news that they were on it since the EW.com voters are definitely not the same people who are on teenbeat.com (right?). I don’t know who voted though!

  25. on December 19, 2008 at 7:33 pm flamom

Can everyone leave a comment? I just left one (“Sunny”). I think it’s the right thing to do to stick up for them as adults on an adult site, you know? To try to shift the perception.

  26. on December 19, 2008 at 7:33 pm mememoi

Respectfully disagree with that 35% for Katy Perry as most promising. LOL.

  27. on December 19, 2008 at 7:47 pm lovngjonasnky

Hey guys, how have you been? Looks like some of you are
having the same cold weather also. Have any of you seen all
the krazy reports that Kevin is getting married and thinking
about leaving JB? I hope it is all just rumors, so I’ve got myself
    a bak-up brother, it’s Joe. No, he doesn’t know I’m about 2
invade his myspace & bebo. I like Joe & all & of course he’s
total kuteness, but he’s not Kevin aka babykakes. So, I gotta
get prepared for hard times that are a coming. This soon could
be the end of them. I hope Kev knows what he’s doing.

  28. on December 19, 2008 at 9:07 pm sharpld

mememoi – I will join the others in saying you are not alone. I think we have outgrown silly and snarky lists and “accolades.” The Grammy nomination should have been the “wake up and smell the talent” alert for those who failed to give it credence before. The boys are musicians. Damn good ones. I will shout from the rooftops with you.

lovingjonasin ky – Kevin denied the engagement rumors on the Insider. The boys also denied the breakup on their MySpace. So, it looks like he is still your Babykakes.

flamom – thanks for the links! The only complaint I can even raise is with the Teen Idol photo – the same shade of lip gloss does not work for the skin tones of all three boys. Still, I love Kevin’s long curls in that one.

Merry – we are baking gingerbread too! I don’t think we are doing JB, though. My hubby would surely bite off K2’s head. It seems fitting, albeit sad, that Danger has already lost a leg. Good luck with themending. A litle white frosting cast?

  29. on December 19, 2008 at 10:16 pm mememoi

Haha, I agree, a damaged gingerbread boy for Danger…totally fitting!

I totally bought Pillsbury readymade gingerbread dough today. *hangs head in shame* We made from scratch last weekend!

  30. on December 19, 2008 at 10:32 pm coolmom

flamom – I joined you in commenting on the EW.com. To wit:

I feel sorry for anyone who let’s knee-jerk anti-Disney sentiments stop them from listening to the excellent power-pop of the Jonas Brothers. I am 3x the average age of the tweeners, with a degree in music, and I am continually impressed with the songwriting/performing skills of these very talented young men. For those of you honest enough to admit that you have missed pop music that is actually listenable, danceable, and enjoyable – do yourself a favor and give A Little Bit Longer a try.

WDT – we do what we can!

I have not baked a single Christmas cookie yet this year. I’m hoping to kill the day on Monday doing roll-out/decorate cookies with the girls.

  31. on December 19, 2008 at 10:33 pm merry27

Thanks Sharpld! our Joe cookie is all patched up. And unfortunately I used the designated Frankie cookie for Kevin- so he’s teeny. So it got a bit dramatic but I’ve been forgiven.
And mememoi that readymade dough is the best! But it sold out so quickly here we could only get one roll. Since we would never eat our JBs it was perfect.

We are waiting until the entire E True Hollywood story is over so we can watch and skip past the people(or person) we find annoying. Did anyone watch?

  32. on December 19, 2008 at 11:09 pm cpaig

I bought dough by the tub! And it was just as yummy as if I had made it myself.

I also manage to burn a whole batch of pecan bars!

  33. on December 19, 2008 at 11:10 pm flamom

Ladies!!!! When I see the JB on TV – I get so amped up I can hardly calm down. What am I going to do being like 20 feet from them in Nashville? I will be “high” for a week! My DH says he is going to make me drive all the way home since I’ll be so energized! :)

I watched THS. Gosh the beginning was AWESOME – all those old adorable incredible pictures of little Nick with straight hair and the stories about girls chasing him and making him sing in elementary school (!) – I loved it! But after that segment, they left facts out, they fudged details, they made stuff sound a way it’s really not – it wasn’t as good as it should have been. It was fun to watch though – I never tire of watching those boys perform and talk. And it was so nice to see Joe on the 2007 AMAs again – he was SO beautiful that evening.

  34. on December 19, 2008 at 11:14 pm flamom

Who else agrees with me that Joe somehow has the most tender speaking voice imaginable? He has this special way of talking that literally oozes sweetness …

I told you I can’t calm down! I just want to rant and rave a little bit. What is it about these guys?

  35. on December 19, 2008 at 11:15 pm sharpld

Oh no! I forgot. aobut E! I guess I will have to wait for YouTube. Dang.

  36. on December 19, 2008 at 11:33 pm flamom

It’s on a lot of times sharpid! Tomorrow at 5 – I think the Nick Jonas fan site has all of the times!

  37. on December 19, 2008 at 11:36 pm flamom

Ok, also on Sunday at noon and 8 pm!

  38. on December 19, 2008 at 11:52 pm sharpld

Thanks, flamom! I will set my DVR.

  39. on December 19, 2008 at 11:59 pm mememoi

Flamom – I agree with you 100%! I think Joe comes off as one of the truly kindest people I have ever seen. Love all of them, but especially that one. ;)

  40. on December 20, 2008 at 12:02 am sharpld

OT – more footage of Joe and the sea lion. Thisis very cute.

  41. on December 20, 2008 at 12:04 am tiffers08

I was forcing my family to watch CR with me tonight, but managed to catch the tail end of THS. It seemed pretty good to me, and I agree, Joe has a way with words. You just can’t help but love him!

  42. on December 20, 2008 at 12:19 am merry27

Well the E thing was pretty all over the place-anyone on this board could have done better fact checking but some of the early stuff was sweet. I never get tired of seeing how far they’ve come.

That sea lion thing is so cute!!! Joe is the best.

  43. on December 20, 2008 at 12:22 am coolmom

OK, the sea lion vid is hilarious.

  44. on December 20, 2008 at 12:51 am flamom

    Lucky sea lion! Hee hee.

Love love love the Jonas Brothers. :)

Do we have the  smiley on this forum? what’s the code?

  45. on December 20, 2008 at 1:15 am mememoi

    Hmmm… <3
That’s as close as I know! The sea lion thing was ador(k)able. Does anyone remember Joe once saying he wanted to work in a zoo? I will run a zoo with you, Joe!!! Please?

Oh, and: Here’s another best-of thing I just updated, thought it was worth re-copying over here:

NYC-based Christian online zine Patrol places ALBL at #42 on its Best Faith-Inspired Albums list, writing this fantastic commentary: “With their career hardly begun, the Jonas Brothers have transcended their own startling youth, purity rings, Disney associations, screaming junior-high girls, and the over-15 world’s endless mockery. They’re for real; dismiss them at your own risk.”

LOVE that we are seeing this sentiment more and more and more!!

  46. on December 20, 2008 at 1:36 am flamom

    I ♥ the Jonas Brothers

    I ♥ Joe Jonas

    I ♥ Nick Jonas

testing – this heart is small!

  47. on December 20, 2008 at 1:37 am flamom

    Anyway – the code is

    & hearts ;

    but with no spaces.

  48. on December 20, 2008 at 2:42 am flamom

We talked about this before I know, but I thought I would just bring it up again since I’m listening to the songs (finally). I’m on the Cardigans right now (never heard of it or them other than thru the JB).

This is the Jonas Brothers’ Rhapsody playlist:

    1. Good Lovin’
    The Rascals

    2. It Ain’t Me, Babe
    Johnny Cash

    3. Little Red Corvette
    Prince

    4. Call An Ambulance
    Albert Hammond Jr.

    5. Jane
    Jefferson Starship

    6. My Favourite Game
    The Cardigans

    7. (I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea
    Elvis Costello

    8. Give My Love To Rose
    Johnny Cash

    9. Living For The City
    Stevie Wonder

    10. I Go Crazy
    Paul Davis

  49. on December 20, 2008 at 4:06 am maermae

sharpld – cutest thing I have seen in a long, long time! Too funny. I’ve repeated it about 10 times now.

    Joe was outta there!

  50. on December 20, 2008 at 10:06 am merry27

Both the EW critic and the Zine Patrol (?) are all about the music. I love “dismiss them at your own risk” cause that’s what we all think. cool!!

We’re still watching Joe and the Sea lion.
And his zoo would be the best-they already have a hippo right?

    Off to shop-finally!!

  51. on December 20, 2008 at 11:32 am amandalovesjb

How cute is Joe. Seriously. He was runnin’ from the sea lion but laughing all the way. They were all laughing…Nick too, and Kevin. Oh goodness, I love those three. With all my ♥ (thanks flamom!)

For all you bakers, I was making English Toffee at midnight last night. It actually came out pretty good. So far I’ve made mint fudge, marshmallow fudge, nut fudge, peppermint bark and the toffee. I think I’ll stop now. :)

Good luck with the shopping, Merry. I have to work every day but I will get the 23rd off, hopefully I can shop then and watch our Boise State Broncos in the Poinsettia Bowl from San Diego! Can’t believe we had a perfect 12-0 season AGAIN and we don’t get a BCS Bowl game. We were robbed!

  52. on December 20, 2008 at 2:11 pm coolmom

I ♥ JB! Just had to try it, did it work?

  53. on December 20, 2008 at 3:51 pm sharpld

    It worked, coolmom! My turn:

    I ♥ Kevin!

    Thanks for the code, flamom.

    Good luck shopping, Merry.

Amanda, may I come to your house? :-) I have only done the gingerbread so far. I still have fudge and peppermint bark to go. I want to make tiramisu, but can’t find a recipe I really like. Does anyone have a favorite?

  54. on December 20, 2008 at 4:20 pm mememoi

Hm….no favorite, though I looooove tiramisu. But I saw this recipe for a tiramisu cake on my favorite baking blog to ogle…

    http://smittenkitchen.com/2007/11/tiramisu-cake/

She can get a little advanced in technique, though, somaybe a safe bet is to stick with Martha:

    http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/easy-tiramisu

    :)

We never even got to the readymade gingerbread today!!! Off to catch the Nutcracker in a few… so we’ll see if we’ve got the time and energy afterwards…

  55. on December 20, 2008 at 6:10 pm merry27

oh everything is sounding so yummy!! I love to make peppermint bark but I’ve never made fudge. I should have known SR-ers had mad sweet skillz….

Shopping almost done but Mr Merry was a bit of a grouch.

Isn’t there anything new in the Jonas world? Did anyone esle watch the E thing yet?

mememoi hope you had fun at the Nutcracker.

  56. on December 20, 2008 at 6:13 pm merry27

and Amanda-about BSU, I saw you were 12-0. That system stinks! But at least you get a game. who are they playing?

  57. on December 20, 2008 at 6:32 pm mollyanne

Whew I FINALLY finished my christmas shopping today! I am beat. Everyone’s sweets sound so yummy! I forgot to DVR the E thing and I’m away from home all weekend so I’ll have to try and get home tomorrow night to catch one of the showings!

  58. on December 20, 2008 at 6:48 pm maermae

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJEZcLmoLXY

    Trailer for the 3-D movie! : D

  59. on December 20, 2008 at 6:57 pm flamom

Read this one ladies – interview with Denise! The part about Nick’s diabetes is heartbreaking, I warn you.

    http://www.workitmom.com/articles/detail/3856/1

And something that bothers me about the author:

    “about the author
Liz Warren-Pederson is a writer and traveling mom living in Arizona. She’s way too old for the Jonas Brothers, but is only slightly ashamed to reveal that she listened to New Kids on the Block back in the day.”

LIZ! No one said you had to LUST after them. Just LISTEN to the music girl! You’re not too old for that! We’ve got to get through to these people!!!!!!

  60. on December 20, 2008 at 7:27 pm merry27

mae-thx!!! I really can’t wait for that movie. The guy’s voice on the trailer sounds so funny(is he a famous announcer?) when he says” Nick! Joe! and Kevin!” but I’m happy to see there will be lots of behind the scenes stuff. And we revisit the wake up scenes. And some Madison Square Garden stuff-our concert! Sweeeet!

And the E! thing is all over the internet if you don’t catch the2nd or 3rd showing.

Flamom, what an amazing interview. I so admire Denise Jonas and the way she keeps her family together. I love where she says she won’t pay hotel prices for cold cereal! I guess everyone has their limits of what they’re willing to splurge on.

  61. on December 20, 2008 at 7:38 pm sharpld

Mememoi – thanks for the recipes! The Martha one does seem to be a good choice. I hope the Nutcracker was wonderful.

Merry – I can email you the easiest fudge recipe ever, if you are interested.

Mollyanne – Yay for finished shopping!

Mae – OMJ! Thanks for the trailer. I am soooo excited. I wonder how many times my daughter will go with me to see it?

Flamom – that was a great article! I love reading interviews with Mama J. Thanks for the link. I am still waiting for the Jonas parenting book.

  62. on December 20, 2008 at 7:48 pm merry27

sharpld-yes I would love it!! you have my email.
It will be a good change from cookies. thanks.

  63. on December 20, 2008 at 9:30 pm amandalovesjb

Can’t WAIT for the 3D movie. Embarrassed to say we saw HSM3 again last night, it has now moved to the ‘cheap’ movies near our house. That makes 8 times. I’m sure the 3D movie will be more than that, especially when it movies to the cheap movies. lol

Merry, BSU is playing TCU. Should be a great game.

LOVE Mama J, she rocks. Plus, she gets to kiss Kevin, Joe and Nick goodnight every night. LUCKY! ♥ them!

  64. on December 20, 2008 at 9:31 pm amandalovesjb

Wgoops, meant to say ‘moves’ not ‘movies’. Too tired.

  65. on December 20, 2008 at 10:15 pm maermae

The trailer really makes me smile. I was excited before seeing the trailer but now I’m almost kinda giddy.

I’m super excited for the ‘behind-the-scenes’ clips. The clip of the boys eating breakfast (I think) where Joe appears to be wearing pajama pants is too adorable.

  66. on December 20, 2008 at 10:44 pm merry27

Mae I really hope that’s the continuation of the “wake up” scenes from the hotel in NY. How cool would that be? Kevin gets the bagel, Nick gets the omelet, and Joe gets the oatmeal!

Amanda I love those cheap theaters!! 8 times must be a record.
And in our local paper it says that BSU/TCU is”one of the best match ups period.” So there you go.

  67. on December 20, 2008 at 11:09 pm mememoi

Thanks for keeping things fresh with the links, everybody!!!

Sorry our posting has been sluggish – just trying to keep on top of these holidays. (And pre-vacation work obligations.)

Thanks to those who hoped so – the Nutcracker was wonderful! It’s a local one that mixes international stars with regular locals, mostly kids, and that was really neat – who knew this one guy I see on the bus almost everyday was such a great dancer?! I thought he was just a bank manager or something. And LBF really enjoyed herself.

Anyway – we are tryin’ to catch up. Jonas Google Alerts aren’t bringing in much freshness, so much is gossip I swear I only click on 20% lately!!

Cpaig would normally cover the TV/E! beat since I don’t have cable, but she has been laid out with a stomach bug since yesterday. I’ll try to pick up that slack if I can – though tomorrow’s my day to finally finish shopping! This has got to be the latest I’ve done it ever…I’m sort of enjoying the adrenaline rush.

And when all is said and done there’ll should be some good Jonas to look forward to! ♥ ♥ ♥

    :P

But the 3D movie might be like the Hannah one – that was only out for a week or 10 days, something like that – and only at certain Muvicos. Then that was it! So if it is like that, tickets will be going very fast – it wasn’t easy getting the Hannah ones. Plus that one was $15 and this one will probably be more. I’m figuring if it’s out for a week, I’m going almost every day!

  69. on December 21, 2008 at 12:22 am tiffers08

Amanda- You have me beat! i saw HSM3 4 times, (twice in the cheap theater) and I haven’t been able to live it down!

I plan on seeing the 3D movie as many times as possible, Hopefully it will be showing somewhere near my podunk town!
I hope I don’t have to drive too far, but chances are I’ll do whatever I can to see my three favorite people.

Mememoi- I totally agree about the google alerts, I barely read them at all anymore.

  70. on December 21, 2008 at 12:28 am amandalovesjb

I have 19 pages of Google Alerts that have piled up since Thanksgiving. I’m trying to read 10 or 20 every day (I typically don’t even go to the links, unless they REALLY look good).

I’m ready to just delete all of them but the minute I do, there will be something I wanted. Oh well.

Sharpld, of course you can come eat goodies at my house. Ya’ll are invited. Of course, I’m never home, ’cause I’m always working, but I’ll leave the light on for you. And the fudge out.

Maybe after Christmas Costco will slow down a bit and I can have a day off now and again. Just found out I will be working Christmas Eve, but might get off around 5pm. Ugh.

  71. on December 21, 2008 at 12:31 am amandalovesjb

Tiff, it’s really funny, I have seen HSM3 so many times I could recite every line. And I do, sometimes, but my kids get mad at me. I have to literally restrain myself from singing and doing all the motions. Twice I took myself to see it when the kids were in school and I did sing, and do some motions. There wasn’t hardly anyone in the theater, though. I didn’t get up in the aisle and dance, however. I have some dignity. lol

  72. on December 21, 2008 at 3:02 am flamom

Amanda, I’m jealous that you would know how to do any of the dancing!!! It is way too difficult for me!

  73. on December 21, 2008 at 3:33 am Trish

OMG!!! Joe in pajama pants. I’m gonna die in the theatre! :) Thanks for the link to that trailer! I am freaking out!

I missed the THS too. Rats, forgot all about it since I was out shopping. Almost done. Whew!

We use the rolled gingerbread dough for our gingerbread house we make (which we didn’t get to this year…..) I’ve got about 10 kinds of cookies to bake, as well as pumpkin pies and pecan bars. Hopefully I won’t burn mine like coolmom! LOL! (Sorry!)

Amanda, I also have to work Christmas Eve, but luckily we get to set our own hours, so I am going in extra early to replenish the gift bags and cards and then I’m getting the heck out of there! Then the day after Christmas we have to put up…Valentine’s Day! Ugh! I did see the preview sheets and Hallmark will have 2 designs of Camp Rock Valentine’s Day cards! Yay!!

  74. on December 21, 2008 at 10:32 am mememoi

Oh no, I must have missed where coolmom burned her cookies!

I am right there with ya, coolmom…I burned like 4 batches last weekend. One batch of shortbreads turned into puddles of bubbly crisp! (which taste awesome anyway and will be used as ice cream topping).

Amanda, I swear you can safely delete those GoogleAlerts. If I see one more hitgrubber news item about Russell Brand or Taylor Swift I am going to scream!

  75. on December 21, 2008 at 10:37 am merry27

Sorry to hear you haven’t been well cpaig! Hope you’re feeling better today. And the Nutcracker sounded really good mememoi.

Here’s the link to the boys before their concert in Mexico yesterday. It’s all on Jonashq. They went monochromatic-Nick looks so cute in a turtleneck!!

    http://jonashq.org/images/displayimage.php?album=1141&pos=1

We have more snow here today!! So no shopping but I’m guessing some baking.

  76. on December 21, 2008 at 10:56 am sharpld

Thanks for the link, Merry! They all look so handsome. Joe is so cute and smiley and Nick looks so grown up. Of course my sweet Kevin always looks wonderful, that goes without saying. ♥

I find it interesting that none of them have on any jewelry. No watches, bracelets, necklaces, notihing. I wonder if Nick’s turtleneck is to keep his dog tag from being forcibly removed from his neck. The Mexican fans are very enthusiastic…

I hope they had a great show.

  77. on December 21, 2008 at 11:02 am merry27

Yea that look suits Kevin. Actually they all look great as usual.
I was wondering why they didn’t go a bit more warm weather-ish for Mexico. But I remember those excitable Mexican fans so maybe you’re right Sharpld- Nick is playing defense.

  78. on December 21, 2008 at 12:02 pm cpaig

Thanks for the thoughts – I am now back among the living.

I am working on a brief E! THS post. So you will see that soon.

  79. on December 21, 2008 at 12:09 pm flamom

    Turtleneck?!? Gotta check that out!

Ok… no. He looks the best in a turtleneck of anyone ever … but still no.

  80. on December 21, 2008 at 1:19 pm sharpld

Welcome back, cpaig! I’m glad you are feeling better.

I watched the THS episode last night on YouTube. It will be fun to talk aoubt it on its own thread, so thanks in advance!

  81. on December 21, 2008 at 1:21 pm tiffers08

I officially have the coolest mom ever.
Like most of you, we’re snowed in, and baking! And I came out of the shower to 3 gingerbread men with each of the boys names on them, and cookies spelling out jonas.
    Daymaker right there.

And flamom- I totally agree about the turtleneck thing. I work at a clothing store, and I try and sway people away from buying them, they are just a piece of clothing I don’t understand.

  82. on December 21, 2008 at 3:50 pm mememoi

Aww…I love turtlenecks!! Heehee. Not always on men, though…

LBF pretty much lives in turtlenecks and tights (under her outfits) from November to February. :P

Which reminds me that I am totally jealous that everybody seems to be getting lovely snow except us mid-Atlantickers. We’ve got nothing but rain, rain, rain…and a little sleet for good measure this morning. LAME.

  83. on December 21, 2008 at 3:58 pm flamom

Kids and football/baseball players are OK in turtlenecks. :)

  84. on December 21, 2008 at 3:59 pm flamom

    (under their jerseys)

  85. on December 21, 2008 at 4:00 pm flamom

OK, OK. Nick is really gorgeous in anything. He has such broad shoulders. He can even pull off the turtleneck. Someone tell that boy that 16 year olds are supposed to be kind of, well, awkward. :)

  86. on December 21, 2008 at 4:56 pm merry27

I kind of like him in the turtleneck and it looks like jeans? I think he looks cute with his curls, very age appropriate. Although it is a bit odd for Mexico he would look great here by the fire, sipping cocoa, and maybe munching on all of this gingerbread/fudge/cookies that people are creating.

Mememoi would gladly pass some snow down to you…. and I miss those turtleneck/tights days. They are so sweet.

  87. on December 21, 2008 at 5:37 pm coolmom

I don’t know where Trish got the idea I had burned my Christmas cookies, because I haven’t even baked any yet! I’m planning on doing it tomorrow with the girls. I think it was someone else.

Here is Michigan today, it is 3 degrees (no that is NOT a typo) with a wind chill of 18 below 0. The 10 inches of snow we got isn’t going anywhere for a while. Do I win the “Suckiest Weather Award”? Kind of a dubious honor, I know, but whatever!

I loved the Mexico pics. Nick and Kevin looked liked adorable bookends in their grey sweaters.

  88. on December 21, 2008 at 5:49 pm flamom

He’s got his favorite APC jeans on! I love those jeans – the dark wash is awesome, my favorite.

  89. on December 21, 2008 at 7:05 pm mememoi

Well, the cookie burning was indeed someone else…ME, apparently! :)

And I personally love the turtleneck on Nick, now that I looked at the picture. Kevin is cute, and Joe looks so sweet there, too. Though it’s one of those pictures that reminds me he is still such a young’un. ;)

  90. on December 21, 2008 at 9:47 pm amandalovesjb

I second the Nick looking awesome in the turtleneck. Wait ’til I show Kayla, she’ll flip.

We got 3″ of snow today, and are expecting 5-10″ overnight. I have to be at work at 7am tomorrow. We’ll see how that turns out. Today wasn’t too bad.

Coolmom, you still win the suckiest weather award.

  91. on December 21, 2008 at 10:23 pm mollyanne

Extension of the wake up scenes? I might faint into the aisle. And amanda I took myself to see hsm3 for my first time too! I felt like such a need but oh well, I suppose I am! Everyones goodies sound delicious…i’m baking with my boy’s momma all day christmas eve! Can’t wait! Only two more days of work woooooo! I got outta retail just in time for the holidays yay me!

  92. on December 21, 2008 at 10:25 pm mollyanne

That word was nerd and my phone corrected me. Ha!

  93. on December 21, 2008 at 10:52 pm flamom

LOVE HSM3!!!! I wish it was in our cheap theatres! I will have to check agaiN!

  94. on December 22, 2008 at 2:51 am Trish

LOL, Sorry coolmom….somebody said they burned a whole batch of pecan bars. Thought it was you…. Hope I didn’t jinx you! :)
