It’s the Diary Of Our Life [Look]

October 27, 2008 by cpaig

I am so excited about the Jonas Brothers’ tour book that will be hitting stores (and the web) on November 18. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Jonas Brothers photograph?

The book documents this past year of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious mega-stardom for them, and promises tons of beautiful photographs taken by photographer Rob Hoffman (aka “Robarazzi”) and…Joe Jonas (you heard me).

Better yet, in these times that can be described as a “quiet” in the Jonasphere, there is quite a nice video of them talking about the book, with some tasty sneak peeks!

Check out the vid after the jump (and be so kind as to answer a question for us).

more about “JonasBrothersBooks.com“, posted with vodpod

To start the video above, click on the little video in the lower right corner (otherwise it just acts like the website – which is actually kind of cool).

Speaking of the website, you should check it out. It has some cool “extras” like wallpapers, and is generally awesome.

Impatient? You can pre-order the book and then all you will have left to do is anticipate!

See!! I knew Joe was a born auteur!

This book looks quite a bit better than what I was expecting.

  2. on October 27, 2008 at 7:32 pm joefan

Aww..I can’t wait! Forget the college psych textbook…I need to study the behavioral tendencies of the Jonas boys!

  3. on October 27, 2008 at 7:55 pm tlatzotzontli

Yeah, I think it’s pretty cool that Joe’s Polaroids are included in the book. In addition to the pictures, I’m also excited to read their captions.

  4. on October 27, 2008 at 9:12 pm Mandi

They shot the cover of the book at the Allentown show and I was there, it was so cool that I totally geeked out and pre-ordered the book as soon as it was an option, haha. From one photog to another, Rob Hoffman in an amazing photographer, I drool over his stuff on their official flickr page and not just cuz it’s of our boys :-)

  5. on October 27, 2008 at 9:46 pm Amanda

    Can’t wait for the book!!

I agree that Robarazzi is an awesome photog, but I’m annoyed that he (or they) hasn’t posted anything new on the flickr page for months. Whazzup with dat, Rob?!

  6. on October 27, 2008 at 9:47 pm coolmom

I am so looking forward to this book. And I can’t wait to see Joe doing his Jeff Bridges thing with the polaroids. I was just starting to get antsy about this book and wonder what was up with it. Thanks ladies, you always know exactlyn what I need.

  7. on October 27, 2008 at 10:42 pm mememoi

We know because we feel it too!!

Amanda – probably money related, I’d guess? He’s got to make a living. (though *hint, hint* he could give us some Flickr teasers!)

But searching Rob’s name at Getty Images will at least get you a sense of what he’s up to…you just can’t look at them big without watermarks (unless you subscribe to Getty)!

    Here’s the search:

Oh cool, that’s a good link to have! I haven’t seen a lot of the pictures on there. I loooooove the second pic on that page (#83263709). They each have a great, but totally different facial expression.

  9. on October 28, 2008 at 1:46 am Trish

OMG, where have I been?! Their official photog – that CUTE guy that’s always snapping pics – he is Rob? I feel like a bad fan for not knowing that. Shame on me.

    Can’t wait for the book!!

  10. on October 28, 2008 at 2:03 am Trish

Oh duh…nevermind. I just told my daughter and she reminded me it was in the JB rules video. Forgot all about that! *blushes*

  11. on October 28, 2008 at 6:30 am merry

ok this will be the most awesome book ever. No chance that we will wait until Christmas. Every chance that there will be 2 copies in our house.

Did you all see the report that the boys will be starring along with Frankie in the Walter the Farting Dog movie?! Huh?
So much for my fanatsy of a full length movie based on the Lovebug video.

  12. on October 28, 2008 at 8:25 am sharpld

Yay! Book! Mine is pre-ordered. :-)

Thanks for all the links and previews cpaig and mememoi!

  13. on October 28, 2008 at 8:47 am mememoi

Haha, Merry – OMG YES, I saw that about the 20th Century Fox movie!!!

And I had the same puzzled reaction. Because I have to say – I really, really can NOT stand that book series. We are book lovers, and every time I glimpse those at a book fair or in a flyer – from the title to the illustrations, my first reaction is “Gross!” and I get away from it as quickly as possible…

But I live in a very girl-centric world so…Maybe it’s a boys’ thing? For the moment, I am referring to that in my mind as “The Frankie Project”. Something tells me (or I am hoping against hope) it is more for him?

It is the Farrelly Brothers directing, though. I guess that is good. Sort of. :P

  14. on October 28, 2008 at 9:28 am merry

    Mememoi-
    The Frankie Project-I love it!!!
After all the careful and excellent analysis on this board by you and cpaig and everyone it’s a bit puzzling. They are not listening to our advice-jk of course!
My son is way older now but I’m sure he would have been into the book and I would have supported it. I think. I don’t really know anything about it but the title alone got a yuck from me and my daughter.
But The Frankie Project sounds great. And he is a cutie and adored by the fangirls so we’ll see.
And the Farrelly Brothers give it a bit more weight but their movies are kind of hit or miss.
    strange news indeed.

  15. on October 28, 2008 at 9:31 am coolmom

Ladies, ladies. So, the guys are cavorting with a tooting canine? Hmmmmmmm, definitely a talley for the “interesting career choices” column.

However, the possible involvement of the Farrelly Brothers leads me to go out on a limb and say that I’m betting Ben Stiller is involved somewhere. He is the same age as the guys parents, could he play their Dad? Or, at the very least, I’m guessing he was involved in hooking them up.

I will ignore, or deny, for the time being the more than snarky comments from idiot bloggers and say that the Studio Movie Biz is a strange and mysterious alchemy. The strangest elements can come together to make massive hits, or the whole project could die aborning and never see the light of day.

But, as much as it would be reassuring to think this is for Frankie, I don’t think that’s likely. The guys are the names here, we fans love Frankie but no one outside of fandom really knows he exists. Frankie’s not getting anywhere near a big movie that doesn’t have his big bros all over it.

Gotta say, I never saw this one coming. Curiouser and curiouser.

  16. on October 28, 2008 at 9:35 am coolmom

Here is a link to a quote from Ben Stiller about how his kids influence his choices:

    http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5id4O2Ts-f4n60lbxJ837UDB7Mo-Q

He and the Farrelly Brothers go way back. Just sayin. . . .

  17. on October 28, 2008 at 9:43 am mememoi

I’m not sure though, coolmom…my impression that the Boys would act as a possible draw for a project that might lean Frank-ward was based on this part of the Variety story(http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117994756.html?categoryid=13&cs=1):

“While his brothers play music, Frankie and the gaseous hound get involved in a plot that involves liberating a koi fish and thwarting jewel thieves.”

0_o Holy moly. *giggling* Are we sure it’s not April…?

I shall call the choice “fearless”. :)

But I like the Ben Stiller thought…

  18. on October 28, 2008 at 9:55 am coolmom

I read the variety article mememoi. But I maintain that while Frankie may have a lovely part in the project, the main stars would have to be the guys for any Studio to get on board.

I’m asking myself: what experience does Frankie have? What movies or performing has he done? Let’s be realistic, studio execs are neither fans nor sentimental. Butts in seats is their only reality, and they are not going to green light a project that largely hinges on someone who has never done any kind of performing before. Like it or not, the Jonas Brothers would have to be the stars here.

And by all means, let’s call it fearless!

  19. on October 28, 2008 at 10:18 am mememoi

I’ll agree with you on Frankie’s experience!! Still though…what happens in the movie itself doesn’t really matter as long as the promotional impression you get is that you are getting the Jonas Brothers, so you buy a ticket or tune in. After they get that, the studio doesn’t really have to care what they give you.

I remember having the experience with a few movies I was drawn to for one star or another as a kid. In fact…this is how I felt about the results of the Hannah Montana 3-D movie and Camp Rock…I bought in for the Boys…but didn’t really get so much of them in the movies, in the end. But the studios got all they wanted from me!

But hey who knows…if all they’ve done so far is sign a contract, it could be anything! Even…good!

Farrellys are ripe for a comeback and “Toy Story” is a great credential for the writers. The awesomest irony would be for this to turn into a beloved movie while meanwhile Spike Jonze’s adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are” (should be an phenomenal no-brainer, right?) is rumored to be a right mess.

  20. on October 28, 2008 at 10:30 am coolmom

And how mememoi! I will absolutely concede your point about promotional impressions.

LOL re Spike Jonze. That’s what I meant when I said that studio movies are a strange alchemy. On paper everything looks like it couldn’t NOT be a hit, and somewhere between concept and realization. . . .

How many “terrible movies that should have been hits” have I seen? Too many.

I will keep the faith, and trust the guys talent. It won’t let me down!

  21. on October 28, 2008 at 10:35 am mememoi

More importantly I just reminded myself of the Jonas Brothers 3-D movie. I do love concert films. I hope there’s news on that front soon. SQUEE!

  22. on October 28, 2008 at 10:44 am coolmom

I heard that the release date was February 27, and that’s all I’ve heard. I can’t wait. My biggest problem is trying to figure out how to see it multiple times without my husband or kids knowing. . . I’ll take the girls once, of course, but I know that’s not going to be enough for me!

  23. on October 28, 2008 at 10:49 am sharpld

Fearless. Yep, I will stick with that. It truly does sound like a boy thing. I have a daughter, so these books have never crossed my radar. Thankfully, I think. There is truth to “butts in seats.” There is no bigger draw right now for the tween wallet. My wallet, too, because there is no way I won’t go see it.

We know they are all still kids (if just at heart) and it is likely to be great fun. But, ummm, guys, when are you going to slow down a bit? Two movies, a TV show, a pending world tour, a new album in the works. I wish I had just a fraction of their drive and energy.

  24. on October 28, 2008 at 11:04 am merry

coolmom you are right- you never know what makes a good movie. How many times do you hear of an amazing book with a great cast and even see a great preview and the movie turns out to be a dud? Good movies sometimes come out of nowhere. And look at how Jonas the tv show has evolved. The new concept is much better and more mature than the original spy concept.
So I guess I’ll keep an open mind. And wait for the book.
The book. ahhh yes the Burning Up book. That’s more like it.

  25. on October 28, 2008 at 11:51 am mememoi

Coolmom – I think I will plan to make it a double feature, up front…and just watch it twice. Why not?!

sharpld – I hear you on the slowing down…I appreciate the work ethic, but I’d hate for them to be spread thin when their music is so fantastic and why not be focused on just that? I am sure it can be hard to say ‘no’.

OMGoodness the show…was feeling almost forgotten. Just when you think things are “quiet”…so much in the works!

  26. on October 28, 2008 at 4:33 pm cpaig

Never in my life did I think I would ever read the word “farting” associated with The Jonas Brothers so many times in one day.

I believe I pledged a few posts ago to trust them in whatever they do, so I’m stickin’ to my pledge.

  27. on October 28, 2008 at 9:35 pm Amanda

This is my favorite google alert title so far:

“Jonas Brothers set to play ‘Pull my paw!’ in big-screen debut”

Oh my goodness. I don’t even know what to think. I’m a true fan, which means I love them no matter what, but…I’m scratching my head here.

  28. on October 29, 2008 at 12:09 am flamom

I was embarrassed to read about this new movie today. I’m afraid to be honest! “Farting” and “Jonas Brothers” are NOT two words I want in the same sentence, or thought!

  29. on October 29, 2008 at 9:52 am Monica

I was trolling their fansites and even the fans are NOT too excited about them being in this movie. The words “sellouts” and “career suicide” were even mentioned. Yikes….. I hate to be a downer about it, but I really, really hope they don’t do this movie. Even my daughter said “wow, it sounds really bad”. Maybe they are doing it for Frankie? I, too, am scratching my head.

I have heard, however, that their 3D movie was really good. This, of course, is coming from hardcore fans who got to see a screening for it last week. And this may be a rumor, but apparently Joe and Kevin are shirtless in it………..
