The Boys appeared on typical and popular French evening news and entertainment program “Le Grand Journal” on Canal+ on Friday, winding down their promotional tour of major European cities. It is pretty much a par-for-the-course appearance, with a delicious helping of local flavor, as usual.
After a good performance of “Burnin’ Up” (the sound mix seemed a bit weak/out of balance, though) in which they look adorable and impeccable and drove the audience nuts, the Boys sat down to chat awhile with the panel of people who congregate on such shows.
It trod the usual ground…“Who’s in charge?”; “Is it true you were discovered in a salon?”; “How did Big Rob get involved in the song?” (btw, the audience LOVES them some Big Rob!!!); “Tell us about Frankie”; “Do you spend all your time together, and do you fight?”; “Are you really waiting to have sex ’til marriage?” (this question was accompanied by a painfully mournful shriek from some of the ladies in the house and, upon Nick’s dismissal of the question – which gets a cheer of approval – the moderator suggests that Big Rob be called out to help them handle any such unwelcome questions in future. And so, he does!) Questions wrap up with “How about that 3-d movie?” and “So your parents supervise you?”
After that, the Boys participate(ish) in “La Bataille”; a sort of battle of the bands in which the assembled are divided into two groups, each group screens a clip of an up-and-coming band, and whichever team gets a bigger cheer is declared the winner. Not sure if it goes anywhere from there, but in theory I guess the game is not unlike the Jonas screaming contests of old (P.S. name that tune)! After that, the Boys get to hang out and watch a couple of fun Francophone segments – one comedy bit and one with questions designed to make various celebrities (including Dennis Hopper) feel awkward!! Funtimes!!
For now, watch the appearance here!
(…simply scroll right under “Extraits de l’emission” until you find the bit marked “La Suite 2″.)
My top 5 appearance highlights? Pictures, perhaps? Ouais!!!!!!!! Après le saut…
Top 5 Highlights Countdown:
5. During the performance, copious (much deserved) love from the cameraman for one Mr. Jack Lawless.
4. When the guy declares that, deducing a Jonas interest in rap, he is going to give them the “cadeau” (gift) of some French rap with his entry in the Bataille (for the record…I kinda love French rap, in a dilettante-ish way. Italian rap, too). Here they are, getting the gift:
3. The defection of the guy in the argyle sweater to the Jonases’ team when they, inevitably, win…right after this Joe gives the camera a “get a load of this wild-n-crazy guy” look.
2. A sweet little boy rocking out Big-Rob-style during the performance.
1. The fact that most French women (and girls) have an irrepressible instinct to lay on the feminine wiles when in eye-batting distance of desirable guys. They are on top of it. And they bring it. I love the French!!!
And here are a few pictures of the performance for your enjoyment!

thanks mememoi! my lack of ability to sleep in on weekends is sometimes frustrating but this was so worth being up for. The combination of French and Jonas is so awesome!
I can’t believe you did this spot on analysis and managed to include the JB screaming contest clip. Mememoi, you are amazing.
That clip is sweet and I do know the song because Rooney was their opening act for our wylmite concert.
Just wondering, why does Big Rob make a special point of hugging the bear-ish French guy? Because they are both “big”?
I also loved seeing that French teens are not dressing too differently from American teens. I think Jonas style has really made an impact-with lots of plaid and vests.
Oh, thank you, merry!
Extra bonus in the screaming contest clip…I do believe Garbo is in the background there wearing glasses….(squee).
Haha, I have no idea why Big Rob hugged that guy, I will have to go back and try to figure out what was being said. I thought the reaction in general to Rob was pretty entertaining. Most of all I love the way his presence always seems to transform the boys a smidge…like they suddenly forget they are working and it’s back to playtime. So cute.
I agree that the French teens looked refreshingly normal and Jonas-influenced! More (though still only a handful of) teenage guys, as well.
Oh and I thought Kevin looked particularly dreamy throughout.

I think I would have found the gangs of people around that table to be a little intimidating … well, until BR came out. It is obvious they feel the least vulnerable when he is with them.
I wonder if Rob speaks French. I bet he does a little.
I love the demanding stomping, love it , love it, love it.
I think it was one of the BIAB episodes, where the boys said that Big Rob speaks French? And people on the street were asking, “Who are those guys?” And BR told them they were the Jonas Brothers? I think I just used up all my question marks.
Oh, and cpaig, thanks for sharing the pic of Kevin being dreamy. A new nickname, perhaps. Kreamy? Ooh, no, that doesn’t sound good.
I liked when I heard somewhere, “When you look me in the eyes, I catch a glimpse of KEVIN…” lol
I wish my kids had a big rob in their lives! He can be a friend and an authority figure at the same time. They always seem relaxed and happy when he is around.
And the fact that he knows so much about them is totally intriguing. Someday there will be a book….
and, yes Kevin does look great in all the European clips.
Has anyone noticed Kevin’s hair being styled a lot like Nick’s? Bigger curls? and on the forehead? It looks great. So funny.
Kevin started off looking like Joe and getting mixed up with Joe and now he is going to look like Nick. Nick won’t be the “curly one” anymore. Joe will be “the straight one.” Heh heh!
But Kevin is the only one with hazel eyes! Maybe he should go back to wearing glasses. *SQUEEE!* Then they could all have a distinguishing something to tell them apart.
I did notice on Paul O’Grady that he seemed to have Kevin and Joe mixed up for a bit (during the Elvis hairstyle segment). I guess it can be difficult to tell them apart if you aren’t familiar with them. I have gotten to the pint where I can pick out Kevin’s voice in their songs (not an extraordinary feat in fangirldom, I guess.). They each have a different way they handle the “s” sound.
It is fun to watch them with Big Rob. He seems to put them at ease. I would definitely buy the book he writes (only if the boys authorize it).
They all look great, but Kevin definitely rocks the European style like a pro.
I can’t hear Kevin singing at all on the CDs. I don’t know his singing voice at all.
Ooooooh cpaig, thanks for the Kevin-ly pic! I just LOVE this look he has going here.
Flamom, Kevin sounds similar to Joe, in my opinion, but I can pick him out. His singing voice is a lot like his speaking voice.
Listen to the background vocals, like on “Can’t Have You”, the “oo-ah, oo-ah” and the “the letter that you left…will I ever get you back” etc.
You can search on YouTube for ‘Kevin Jonas singing’ and some people have put together montages (sp?) of his voice. In the early days, he had a solo 1/2 verse or so near the beginning of ‘Mandy’.
Kevin always looks dreamy!
I especially like the curls falling onto his forehead in that pic…
Garbo WAS in glasses in that clip! *gasp*
LOL, Amanda – When listening to ‘Time For Me To Fly’ my daughter and I always sing, “Time for me to open up my heart and knock on KEVIN’S door”
In ‘Hello/Goodbye’, Kevin sings “You say low”. It is his only solo line in that song and it makes us literally MELT! I so wish he would sing more!
And don’t forget he sings the line “Baby Bottle Pop” in the jingle! This is one of my favorite videos!
And don’t forget he sings the line “Baby Bottle Pop” in the jingle!
my daughter and I had a bet going-$20 if she could find proof of Kevin singing solo. There are several clips on the internet but she never figured out he had a solo on Mandy which is funny because that’s a song we still play today. The winner was the Hello Goodbye track on the ALBL Target release where he has a whole line “you say loooow” all to himself. It’s so cute and growl-y.
I always think they sound best when they sing together( as much as I love Nick and Joe trading lead solos).
Next bet- Joe solo on an instrument. Has anyone ever seen it?
Thanks Trish-I forgot about that baby bottle pop line!
Speaking of glasses…

Heeheehee. Love.
Merry – Slide whistle on “Living the Dream”?…no, jk.
I have never seen Joe get super serious on an instrument, though I believe he can surely play them all well better than I could. I have seen him play the drums jokingly during an interlude on the Marvelous Party Tour, and once on an old, old tour, appeared to share lead guitar duties for a song.
And of course he used to handle keyboard duties!!
But he is so suited to being front and center, rather than behind an instrument in any professional capacity.
Also, I think the tambourine totally counts. Sometimes it is very clear during a performance…and it’s not skill-less!! I have a button that says “Real Men Play the Tambourine”.
Does Joe do the guitar solo in ALBL?
Well, he plays a couple of chords…he, Kevin and JT each play an element of that guitar part.
mememoi-I agree Joe is a natural front man! He continues to grow in the role. I am sure he can play instruments but not as well as Nick and Kevin. That’s one of the fascinating things about them-how well they work as a trio. And I’ll take your word for it on the tambourine. I’m sure I don’t have enough rhythm for it!
I just like to joke around with my daughter and make bets to try and get her to think a bit differently about the JBs rather than aimlessly surf team jonas and pap sites.
But you’ve given me a new idea for a bet-something to do with glasses. Has anyone ever seen a picture of Nick wearing them?
I’ve never known Nick to wear glasses. (sigh, he’s cute!)
I’ve only seen him in them in costume (the LoveBug vid)…never otherwise that I can think of….
Speaking of Joe and tambourines (stop reading now if you’re easily offended
)…
At our concert this summer, one group of girls had their bright yellow newer VW bug decorated with all kinds of slogans, but the most prominent one read:
“Save a tambourine, Bang Joe!”
We thought it was scandalous but pretty funny, too. lol
Pretty sure he doesn’t wear them but my daughter could have fun looking. He would look so cute in them though.
Amanda, it’s funny. Can’t blame these girls for dreaming.
LOL!
