Do You Like Muffins? [Read]

September 21, 2008 by cpaig

Round two of answers from the Jonas Brothers Myspace Blog! Sadly they are not the ones that we asked (yet), but they answer the slightly random array of questions very well.

We get to know a little more about what they think about dating (again), the possibility of another video chat, and the intricacies of the English language.  We also hear about sleep, contests, and being compared to the Beatles.

Check out my favorite question (and their answers) after the jump.

5. do you feel like you guys have changed from who you used to be?

Not at all. We are a whole lot more busy. We feel like we are the same people. For us it doesn’t matter how many opportunities come our way…family is still most important. Staying grounded is also very important.

8. how does it feel to know your being compared to the Beatles?

It is an honor BUT we definitely DO NOT compare ourselves to the Beatles. They are our idols. We look to them as a source of inspiration but we don’t think anyone will have the impact that the Beatles have had on music.

10. can you sleep with music on?

Yes, we have learned to sleep everywhere and anywhere!

[See all of the questions and answers]

Personally, I prefer cranberry muffins.

These questions are silly and funny. Very cute. They definitely wrote these answers themselves at least. Home Depot – they should have Googled the origin of “depot!” too funny.

  2. on September 21, 2008 at 7:27 pm sharpld

Thank you for the new post! These are cute questions. I agree that they do not look like they were answered by a press rep.

I kinda feel like all of the “we” answers, while appropriate and succinct, are another way to keep their personal lives to themselves and project the band image. Smart. I wonder if after the insanity of the BU tour they feel a little exposed as individuals?

WDT know that Kevin did NOT vote for the blueberry muffins. :-)

  3. on September 21, 2008 at 7:30 pm cpaig

No, he got outvoted -LOL. I wonder if he even likes raisins. As in a raisin bran muffin – or Raisin Bran. I don’t understand how you can eliminate a whole fruit group like that.

But that is why God invented corn muffins, I suppose.

  4. on September 21, 2008 at 8:48 pm sharpld

And chocolate chip muffins. :-) I am with you on the cranberry, cpaig. But I like a little orange with my cranberry. Yum!

  5. on September 21, 2008 at 8:53 pm mememoi

    Mmmm…Orange cranberry ARE tasty…

Cpaig and I have both done a lot of time in the coffee shop industry (she at a higher level than me) so we have seen a lot of muffins between us, right, Cpaig?

Personally, I am all about blueberry muffins. Which leads me to believe that Joe bogart-ed the answer to that question.

Also good are straw-nana muffins. Strawberry banana. Our household specialty. (Kevin would not like to hang out with LBF & me.) And lemon poppyseed. Yummers.

  6. on September 21, 2008 at 9:29 pm Amanda

Poppyseed for me too, please…Almond Poppyseed. Yummers, indeed.

I agree it sounds like the boys wrote the answers here.

Lol at the boys being able to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere, I remember seeing a Tiger Beat article (or one of those mags) where Nick fell asleep sitting up on the couch waiting for the photo shoot to start, and they took a pic of him. So cute, even in sleep.

  7. on September 21, 2008 at 9:31 pm coolmom

I’m salivating just reading all this! I also figured that Kevin surely doesn’t do blueberry muffins. I’ll bet he would like my chocolate chip muffins though!

These were interesting and eclectic questions. And they seemed like the guys own responses. But I’m wondering if perhaps the questions we all submitted might not get answered because they are more, well, “meaty” for lack of a better word. But I’m still hoping!

  8. on September 21, 2008 at 9:36 pm sharpld

Coolmom, I wondered the same thing about the questions SR submittted, especially after reading these responses. It seems like the cute factor might win over substance and depth. We can always hope …

  9. on September 21, 2008 at 9:39 pm cpaig

Yes, Mememoi – I have panned many a muffin – my fave – butterscotch scones- mmmmmm……

I hope they answer ours Coolmom, fingers crossed.

  10. on September 21, 2008 at 9:47 pm coolmom

The cute factor, that’s it exactly sharpld. Ah, well. Que sera.

  11. on September 21, 2008 at 10:01 pm mememoi

Well…perhaps they’ll just message us back personally then?

    Bwaha…yeah, dreaming on.

  12. on September 21, 2008 at 10:05 pm Amanda

Didn’t they get, like, gazillions of questions? How could they possible decide which to answer? They must have had help with that. Do you suppose someone in their camp picked out some, with an eye toward ‘cute’ and then asked them which they wanted to answer?

  13. on September 21, 2008 at 10:07 pm Amanda

When I was still volunteering for Say Now, in April they had us call a number and record questions that we wanted the boys to answer. They were supposed to record answers to our questions and Say Now was going to play them for us.

    Yeah, we’re still waiting.

  14. on September 21, 2008 at 10:09 pm cpaig

I definitely think the questions were vetted by people in their group before they got to them. Time will tell if they are only answering the cute ones.

    I thought ours were awesome.

  15. on September 21, 2008 at 11:48 pm flamom

I vote for chocolate chip muffins (and muffies) #1.

So … no one has mentioned yet that Nick looks superbly awesome in that photo. So I think I should. :)

  16. on September 21, 2008 at 11:53 pm flamom

You know, their band setup is so similar to the Bee Gees. Three brothers out in the spotlight, and playing some instruments, while other guys in the band toil behind the scenes. (LOL it’s hardly toiling)

    Interesting!

  17. on September 22, 2008 at 1:49 am Trish

Now, now, as a fellow fruit hater I have to say I like blueberry muffins even though I would *never* consider sitting down with a bowl of plain blueberries! The muffin disguises fruit quite well! :) I imagine Kevin (like me) doesn’t like the texture of fruit. Who knows…maybe they’ll answer more about that as well.

OK, I read the blogs here for a while before I discovered the comment area, so what questions did you guys submit? I don’t do MySpace so I didn’t get to submit any.

  18. on September 22, 2008 at 1:54 am tlatzotzontli

I agree, flamom, Nick looks especially nice in this pic. Since you commented on the picture, I have to share what my 8-year-old niece said when I first read this post…..

I had the screen down so that only the guys’ shoes were showing because I was reading the text…and she said, “Who’s that picture of with the dorky shoes (pointing at Nicks’ and Kevins’)? When I showed her, she immediately took it back when she saw it Nick (she is a big Nick fan!). Then again she concluded that she didn’t like the boots. But what cracked me up was when she said, “Look at Kevin. He has this look on his face like, ‘yeah, look I have sideburns. I’m cool.’” hahaha. It was too funny. :)

  19. on September 22, 2008 at 8:21 am sharpld

Thatzotzontli – too cute, b/c Nick could never be dorky!

Nick does look especially handsome. What’s going to happen when all of the signs read “I heart Nick?” I wouldn’t want to be on the tour bus after that show…. heehee.

For the record, I love Kevin’s boots. For a guy who won’t wear a shirt more than twice, he certainly gets attached to his footwear. “I like – BOOTS!”

  20. on September 22, 2008 at 8:44 am mememoi

sharpld – the 100% “I heart Nick” sign days are pretty much how they got started…so Joe & Kevin had to reconcile early. He still gets the majority. Joe has gained on him pretty well for a while, and I think Kevin still acts surprised when he gets significant fan attention.

Joe has been getting a good bit of the attention in the media, but my mindset is still in the days when I felt I had defend him all the time (spring ‘07) because the Nickfangirls just loooooved to bash Joe for being “weird”. (And I think some of them still resented J&K for what they perceived as crashing Nick’s solo project).

flamom – Yes, The BeeGees! I love them. I always think they’re so much more of an apt comparison for the Boys than the Beatles. But I guess it doesn’t make as much of a stir.

Trish – we came up with a few questions in the comments over here…

  21. on September 22, 2008 at 8:55 am sharpld

Good point, mememoi. I was late to the party. (Fall ‘07, after they appeared on Hannah Monatana ) I wasn’t aware Joe ever needed defending. Wow.

Silly fangirls … where is the love?

  22. on September 22, 2008 at 9:05 am mememoi

    Right?! ;)

  23. on September 22, 2008 at 9:13 am cpaig

Ha ha – I was TOTALLY thinking of you when I chose this pic Flamom (and all of you Nick fans). I really like the tie – he looks so together.

I don’t know how anyone can think Joe is weird and less likable than Nick – Joe is such a sweetheart.

I love the riding boots, but he has been wearing the buff cowboy ones again lately. lol.

  24. on September 22, 2008 at 9:38 am flamom

IF Joe is weird, he is weird in the most wonderful possible way. He is a sweetie.

  25. on September 22, 2008 at 9:48 am coolmom

So mememoi, I need the low-down on strawberry-banana muffins. Do you use fresh strawberries and if so, how do they do in baking? What’s the recipe?

I think this pic, while especially good of Nick, has a little something for everyone. Joe is looking fine, I like him in green. And of course, my beloved Kevin in boots and bomber jacket is always cause for celebration.

I’m glad I wasn’t trolling fan sites in the days of Joe bashing. I would have been deeply offended. Joe is like the sweetest guy ever! He is that rare being: a truly gorgeous man who also has developed a unique personality and not just relied on his looks. What’s not to love?

  26. on September 22, 2008 at 9:52 am coolmom

flamom – I’m sorry about your fish!

  27. on September 22, 2008 at 11:45 am flamom

Thank you! I’m sad about the fish. And about the kitten. :(

I really hope the next one does well.

  28. on September 22, 2008 at 2:10 pm Trish

mememoi – thanks for the link to that blog about the questions. I read all the comments and enjoyed the pics you all posted there. Let me just say as far as JB pics I have saved, I stopped counting at 1000! I know I have more in other folders not yet sorted and 250 from the BU concert, sooo……obsessed much?! LOL!

I remember when Joe wasn’t as appreciated as he is now – it was all Nick, Nick, Nick. But I’d say the fangirl distribution is pretty equal between those two now. I didn’t notice the Joe-bashing being as extreme as the Kevin-bashing…which I will NEVER understand. Kevin is perfect. *sigh*

  29. on September 22, 2008 at 2:26 pm mememoi

Yes,Trish – Kevin has always gotten the short end of the stick!! Which always mystified me. Much worse than Joe (though he seemed to get some backlash because since signing to Disney…they did move Joe more strongly to the middle/front, even in those early cover songs).

I was instantly into Joe from the first few videos/songs…but as soon as I started watching behind the scenes vids, Kevin was my strong #2. Watching him play, or as soon as he opens his mouth in casual settings, how can you not like him? (And he has the prettiest eyes of the three, no contest.)

Nick and I had to work through some issues. :)

  30. on September 22, 2008 at 4:07 pm sharpld

    Issues? With cutie-pie Nick? I can’t imagine. :-)

He is adorable and so talented, but for me, it is just the age thing. I am old enough to be his mom without having been an after-school special. It is sad.

You know, as much as I adore these boys, it occurs to me that part of my adoration comes with my *ahem* advanced age. Were I their peer, they probably would be way off my radar. I was a Goth-girl with purple hair and if it wasn’t dark and depressing, I didn’t listen to it. How time has changed me …

  31. on September 22, 2008 at 4:41 pm cpaig

I often wonder if I would have noticed them either. I was fully ensconced in NIN, Pearl Jam, and others. I was about “peer” age when Hanson hit – I remember being actually appalled – LOL.

So I agree with you that age could be a factor – and therefore a broader knowledge of music and cultural – that made me susceptible to them.

They have taught me not to be dismissive of things without getting to know about it. And to be in love with live music again.

  32. on September 22, 2008 at 4:47 pm mememoi

coolmom – this isn’t the exact recipe, but I found a close one, for the strawnana muffins….oh, divine. I’ve seen a few whole wheat versions I am thinking of trying. And yes – so far I use fresh strawberries. I may try frozen for the next batch, to economize.

sharpld – I am similar!! I was not a goth. But I was totally stuck-up about music/etc, and pretty anti-mainstream, extreme nonconformist. It drove me to a phase of regrettable Brooklyn hipsterdom. But I’m all better now! Well, I am still pretty nonconformist but I see pop music differently….and I can’t imagine not appreciating the Boys, and a few other things the pop scene has to offer. (But I still don’t think I missed much in the 90s of my tweens.)

And re: Nick (no one hurt me, I have come around!!) I used to find Nick rather humorless and sometimes a bit arrogant. But that was a long time ago! I always knew he was extremely talented, but I have also come to see his many facets of adorablenesses, and I honestly love him very much. :P

  33. on September 22, 2008 at 6:20 pm coolmom

mememoi – Thanks for the receipe! It sounds yummy.

It’s interesting to think if I woud have been a JB fan when I was a tween/teen. I think I would have, because I was VERY into Top 40 pop music. Of course we are talking about age 8-18 or so, so that would have been 1971-1981, and pop was what got played on Top 40.

Being a vocalist, I was into all types of music: musical theatre, standards from the 40’s and 50’s and even “art” music, but I totally loved the Beatles, Bee Gee’s, Stevie Wonder, and so many of the artists that JB consider influences. That’s probably why I love JB now. When I listen to their music, it’s like coming home to what I loved when I was young!

  34. on September 22, 2008 at 7:12 pm mememoi

coolmom – you got it exactly!!

Even in my snottiness towards my contemporary Top 40 as a kid, I was loving all of those artists (you know, bein’ cool, looking into vintage music…) Queen and the BeeGees were definitely my favorites as a young’un among other things. I got into Johnny Cash as an undergrad, through some friend or other…

So I like to think liking the JB is just recognizing good music and performance.

But when I see the teenagers dismissing them because of the various superficial reasons, I want to knock them over the head with the knowledge WDT have. But kids these days – you can’t tell them anything!!! :P

  35. on September 22, 2008 at 7:16 pm Trish

Yep, I’m with you sharpld – colored hair and black clothes back in my day! But, I did like all kinds of music from Billy Joel to The Misfits, so I may have liked them, too. I did see a few brightly colored hair girls at the Verizon M&G though so who knows…

Now that I am a mom however, I literally thank God for the JB’s! They are exactly the kind of guys I want my daughter admiring. I am SOO glad she doesn’t go for pierced up, tattooed freaks!

Yep, I could be Nick’s mom, too, so for me it is definitely an age thing. And while I do find Nick ‘cute’ and ‘adorable’, it is Kevin and Joe that get the adjectives ‘hot’ and ’sexy’. ;)

Oh yeah…and they’re talented too! LOL!

  36. on September 22, 2008 at 7:38 pm cpaig

    LOL – Nope!

In my day I we were forced to listen to Paul Simon, Classical Music, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt and The Nevil Brothers AND WE LIKED IT!

There was always music in our house. Mostly blaring out of my boom box, I am sure – LOL.

If Mememoi would listen to them, then I would have too… Maybe it would have replaced the Newsies obsession…lol.

  37. on September 22, 2008 at 9:28 pm flamom

Not to argue mememoi :) but if we’re talking eyes, I can hardly even stand to look into Joe’s. They are so beautiful. Those eyes and his eyebrows together are my favorite favorite part of Joe. That is why he dazzles me!!

  38. on September 22, 2008 at 9:32 pm flamom

I know it makes no sense since he is a “baby” with no facial hair … but I think Nick is really masculine. I like that sporty athletic strong confident thing he’s got going on. And IMO as he gets older it’s only going to get better and better.

I remember seeing JB at the HM concert and I liked Joe pretty much Just Joe at that point. But I could not believe what Nick was doing in that show – how many things he could do. I was SO impressed.

  39. on September 22, 2008 at 10:04 pm coolmom

If I may interject a note of whimsy, I’ve just composed:

    A JB Haiku

    WDT all know
the rest of the world should too
    Jonas Brothers Rock!

  40. on September 22, 2008 at 10:10 pm cpaig

    Brava! Brava!

  41. on September 22, 2008 at 10:20 pm coolmom

    Awwww, shucks!

  42. on September 22, 2008 at 11:17 pm mememoi

    I LOVE HAIKU!!

    How did you know?!

And flamom…I totally agree about Joe, I pretty much think everything about him (voice, stage manner, smile, hair, jawline, broad shoulders) is the bomb and trumps everyone else. Ever.

    :)

But Kevin has assets!! His eyes are hazel, right?

And Nick is impressive. He seems old beyond his years. I admire him tons but I think it makes him less relatable for me.

  43. on September 22, 2008 at 11:25 pm coolmom

Of course you love haiku! It’s fun with words, what could be better?

Kevin’s eyes are hazel, beautifully so.

  44. on September 22, 2008 at 11:29 pm cpaig

    Assets – LOL.

  45. on September 22, 2008 at 11:39 pm Amanda

Oh yeah, Kevin has ‘assets’ alright. Woot! WTDFTW!

I don’t care if I am 28 years older than Nick, that boy has got major skillz and he is looking fine in the above pic! lol

I know what you mean, mememoi, in comment #32, Nick used to come across as humorless or arrogant to me too, but I think he’s just so focused most of the time. And we know he has his little insecurities :) .

As for Joe, he’s the total package. All three of them are, in their own way. If offered the three of them on a platter, I would be hard-pressed to choose. Hehe.

  46. on September 22, 2008 at 11:39 pm coolmom

I think Kevin’s assets look particularly nice in tight white jeans.

  47. on September 22, 2008 at 11:41 pm Trish

    ‘Assets’…LOL!

    Awesome Haiku!

  48. on September 22, 2008 at 11:43 pm Trish

ROFL Coolmom – you got that right! ;)

The three of them on a platter…That means one is the appetizer, one is the main course, and one is dessert! WOOT!

  49. on September 22, 2008 at 11:43 pm Amanda

Look here to see Kevin’s ‘assets’….lol

  50. on September 22, 2008 at 11:45 pm Trish

Oh. My. I think I just fainted Amanda……

  51. on September 22, 2008 at 11:49 pm mememoi

LOL. Animals. All of you. ;)

  52. on September 22, 2008 at 11:50 pm flamom

I’m pretty sure Kevin has green eyes! I have a couple very nice photos of them and they look green to me???

  53. on September 22, 2008 at 11:52 pm flamom

I appreciate that you ladies enjoy the rear view :) but I just think these guys need to loosen up on those pants. I don’t like them so tight …

  54. on September 22, 2008 at 11:54 pm flamom

    DWTS on Weds!! Lovebug???

  55. on September 22, 2008 at 11:56 pm coolmom

Oh flamom, don’t take away the tight pants! I’d miss them so much. Can’t Kevin keep the white ones, please?

  56. on September 23, 2008 at 12:00 am Amanda

I agree. Tight pants rule. DWTS rocked! Can’t wait for Wednesday. I’m sure it will be ‘Lovebug’.

Call us animals, mememoi, but that’s just the way we roll…

  57. on September 23, 2008 at 12:02 am Amanda

I’m pretty sure Kev’s eyes are hazel, flamom, but maybe when he wears certain colors his eyes look green?

  58. on September 23, 2008 at 12:15 am Amanda

More Kev eye candy…his eyes do look sort of green, here, they match his shirt…

    http://media.photobucket.com/image/kevin%20jonas%20eyes/bambamball94/kevin%20jonas%20X3/332.jpg?o=4

  59. on September 23, 2008 at 12:17 am coolmom

That’s one of my favorite pics, Amanda. It’s on the screensaver, LOL!

  60. on September 23, 2008 at 2:27 am Trish

After that pic of Kevin I think tight pants should be mandatory. LOL!

I do think his eyes are hazel. In fact, I think I read it somewhere in one of those little ‘bio’ things in a magazine.

Speaking of magazines – check out the latest edition of PopStar – there is a pinup of Big Rob!!!!! I can just hear the guys giving him a hard time about that! LOL!!

  61. on September 23, 2008 at 8:10 am sharpld

OMJ! I am so sorry I missed this last night… but what a great way to start my day! You ladies are awesome!

Coolmom – I love the haiku!

And of course, I appreciate Kevin’s assets. Those assets are hard to hide, tight pants or not, but why not accentuate the positive? :-)

I don’t know how I missed the pic of him in the green shirt. It is lovely. I stole it and put it in my folder. Thank you so much, Amanda! My Kevin count is now up to 60!

  62. on September 23, 2008 at 8:42 am flamom

I just don’t get the whole Big Rob as a star thing. Who is driving that?

  63. on September 23, 2008 at 8:59 am flamom

OK, here is the pic where I thought his eyes looked green – maybe they do look different at different times, I don’t know.

  64. on September 23, 2008 at 9:00 am flamom

    Sorry!

    http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d157/alex219/Personal/kevin-greeneyes.jpg

  65. on September 23, 2008 at 9:12 am sharpld

Flammom – I think “hazel” means that they change color, depending upon what the person is wearing and the lighting. So sometimes his eyes do look green and sometimes they look brown. I Wikki’ed it just to be sure:

In North America, “hazel” is often used to describe eyes that appear to change color, ranging from light brown to green and even gray, depending on lighting in the environment.

So yep, his eyes are green … and light brown .. and just plain gorgeous!

  66. on September 23, 2008 at 9:31 am Amanda

Nice description of hazel, sharpld. Lol at the pic of Kevin, flamom, he’s like “…what?!” :)

  67. on September 23, 2008 at 9:43 am flamom

I just ordered Demi’s CD. It does sound a lot like a girl JB LOL.

I ordered from Circuit City – they have it at 9.99 and really cheap shipping. I should have ordered it earlier. I was planning to pick it up today in a store, but it’s not available in stores.

How is she supposed to sell any of these things then.

Circuit City – not available in stores.
Walmart – limited stores – not here!

  68. on September 23, 2008 at 9:44 am flamom

I guess she’s counting on pretty much all iTunes sales.

  69. on September 23, 2008 at 12:05 pm Trish

Her CD was shown in our local Target ad over the weekend – we’re going to pick it up later.

re Big Rob as a star…I don’t really know, but the shrieks when he came out on stage for BU were wild! Plus, we have seen a lot of him in Youtube vids, LTD, Pepsi Smash, etc, so it’s easy to feel like you ‘know’ him. I’m glad he gets some appreciation and love, as well as the other boys in the band.

  70. on September 23, 2008 at 12:05 pm Monica

I just bought Demi’s CD at Target for $9.98. I’ve only listened to the first four songs, and there is such a Jonas touch to it that I find myself loving it! The song she does with JB is fantastic! The boys are all over this CD, producing, writing, vocals, guitar, and I noticed on the credits that Nick plays the drums on several of the songs. Entertainment Weekly did not give it a stellar review (grade C), but I don’t understand why. For a 16 year old I think it’s pretty impressive. It will be interesting to see what the sales are…..

  71. on September 23, 2008 at 12:07 pm Trish

Now if they would just have a pinup of Garbo, I would be a happy woman… :)

  72. on September 23, 2008 at 12:51 pm Monica

OK..so this is totally random, but I just ran across this from jonasbrothersfan.com and it made me laugh out loud. It’s from a website called “garbo girls”, a fan club for Greg Garbowski. Sorry it’s kind of long, but it’s good reading. I’ve said it before – I miss his blog….

    Funny Garbo interview:

Bri and I were honored to have a chance to interview Garbo, and found that he is certainly as sweet, genuine, and hilarious as he seems to be in his blog. He filled in our questionnaire quite thoroughly. Here are his reponses to our questions word for word–not a thing edited out! Enjoy, and pop over to the forum to gush about it!

    Favorite…

Color: the color of your eyes, sugar.

Animal: Girwhal. Giraffe + Narhwal = Girwhal.

Food: foods that don’t involve much preparation are my favorites; i like to open something and eat it immediately. if i’m hungry i dont want to sit and cook something… i want to eat. that said, i am taking some cooking classes in the near future to correct this twisted logic of mine. my ideal meal would be cereal and key lime pie. isn’t that sad?

Childhood memory: in kindergarten i saw a real leprechaun in the hallway on st. patrick’s day.

Movies: my top 3 are The Baxter, Lucky Slevin, and Casino Royale. I mostly just buy concert DVDs though.

TV shows: Lost, The Office, Flight of the Conchords, Scrubs, Arrested Development, anything on the discovery channel.

Book of the Bible: well they’re all pretty great. I love the gospels especially though because it’s documentation of how Jesus Christ lived his life. He spent his time loving and interacting with people from all walks of life. Rich and Poor. Religious and Non-Religious. He didn’t discriminate at all. He simply loved everybody, and even at the end of His life, when they all turned on him, he still forgave them with his dying breaths. I try my best, although I often fall short, to live my life like He did.

Band (erm, non-JB): my first favorite band was the California Raisins when i was 4 years old. When i was a teenager, I first got a bass to try to look like Mike Hererra from MxPx. But i really learned how to play bass by studying Flea’s style of playing with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In High school i pretty much exclusively listened to Dave Matthews Band which is probably why i can’t stand them anymore. At this point i don’t really have a favorite i try to listen to everything. I like music that’s doing something new and different. But really, it’s still all about the Raisins.

When is your birthday? February 30, 1986. it was the only year in history February had 30 days. A side effect of being born during this phenomenon is that i have gills, but sadly still can’t breath underwater.

What is your biggest pet peeve? phone usage while eating with other people. expiration dates. slow internet.

What are you scared of? losing my luggage and my hair

Most memorable show (good or bad): Back in the summer of 2005 we opened for Jesse McCartney at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, NC. We only played 4 songs but for all of us it immediately became our favorite show. The crowd was all squished up against the stage and all this energy got released. It was awesome. I mean, we’ve had so many fun shows since then, but that was our first show were we felt like something special happened. Also, any show when the song “Games” is played. Because it is the greatest song ever written.

Books: Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman.

If you could meet someone, living or dead, who would it be? George Washington Carver. He single-handedly brought the peanut to it’s current state of popularity. I’d stab him with an epi-pen and see how he likes it.

LOVE the epi-pen comment. My daughter is also allergic to peanuts so she feels she and Garbo have a ‘bond’. LOL

I think Garbo is my new hero! (It’s okay, Kevin; thre is room in my heart for the two of you.) I never did get to read his blog. From reading this, I think I would have really enjoyed it.

I did read his blog very avidly – and it was GREAT. He wrote with a great, wry sense of humor, and he never said too much about the Jonases – besides some pictures, it was a totally cool peek into the backstage life from like, Six Flags to American Idol.

Haha, Monica – that interview is awesome!!!

  76. on September 23, 2008 at 2:57 pm flamom

He’s a little too funny for me- I’m pretty serious! – but I love Games. He’s right!

And I wonder if everyone in the band is very religious like the Jonases. I bet they are.

I love Garbo, he’s so droll.

What a wonderful interview! Thank you so much for sharing, Monica! I loved all of his answers – especially the ones about G.W.C., and Jesus.

Does anyone (who regularly read the Grog Blog) remember the Girwhal contest?

I actually entered with my Girwhal, Leslie.

    He he is:

I didn’t win. Most likely because of the awkward vestigial legs (oops! – LOL!). I wish I could show you the ones that did – THEY WERE HILARIOUS!

The bowl of cereal had something to do with Greg saying it was his favorite food. It stands to reason, considering his answer above. As long as it is not Honey Nut Cheerios.

    I LOOOVED Garbo’s blog…exactly my kind of humor…
I remember seeing him post a picture of when he met Steve Jobs and just a couple of minutes ago, I was watching this documentary on Pixar (I love anything having to do with Disney movies and Pixar’s are amongst my faves). They showed this pic of a young Steve Jobs and almost screamed at the interesting resemblance to Garbo…

of course sans extremely awkward 70s goatee

BTW, I was driving down the freeway listening to ALBL when I realized “One Man Show” and “Pushing Me Away” make EXCELLENT car songs. Like the ones you want to come on the radio when you’re speeding, trying to dodge highway patrol and make it to class without having to do that whole uncomfortable “hey-I-just-walked-into-class-15-minutes-late-and-every-step-I-take-seems-to-be-twenty-times-louder-this-morning” thing. Definitely action movie car chase background music material.

    BTW, Happy Birthday Frankie!!!

  81. on September 23, 2008 at 9:43 pm cpaig

Yes! Happy B-Day Franklin! The big 08. Cool.
    Keep it real, little man.

Monica, that interview had me laughing out loud, seriously! I knew he’d be hysterical, he was a member of Team Hilario after all. Which by the way, if Honor Society opened for JoBros on their tour in the summer we could have a Team Hilario reunion, I’m just sayin’…thanks for sharing, Monica!

  83. on September 23, 2008 at 10:48 pm Trish

cpaig – Love your Girwhal! The cereal was an awesome touch!

I don’t suppose any of you saved copies of Garbo’s blog? I started pasting them into Word to save them, but only got a few before he closed it to the public. My daughter desperately misses his peanut-free view on things.

I thought Frankie’s birthday was the 28th…oh well, Happy Birthday little guy!

joefan – I am a Disney freak as well!

Team Hilario! That would be amazing! :)

  84. on September 23, 2008 at 11:01 pm mememoi

I am not sure on lil Frank’s birthday either…

I wish I HAD saved Garbo’s blog. He had such fun photos and stuff. Maybe someone, somewhere?

It would be interesting to see a Team Hilario revival. Though I came on board post-Alex Noyes and therefore have always been rather suspicious of him. LOL. I wonder if they even still have that mask of the Rock?

  85. on September 24, 2008 at 1:01 am joefan

oops…I may have gotten too excited on Frankie’s birthday…it IS on the 28th..
Maybe he’ll get Flo’Rida or Lil’ Wayne for a special private concert?
