Kevin sure kows how to hold a Mini-Wheat!

So here is the latest on Sugar and Spice. The other night I lurked outside Sugar’s bedroom while they played inside (something I do with regularity) and this is what I heard:

Spice: So tell us all about your new single.

Sugar: Well, it’s called “Dogs Rock, School Stinks”. I don’t really think school stinks, it’s just a way of getting out your anger, to put it in a song.

Spice: That’s interesting, why don’t you sing it for us?

So Sugar (my sweet soon-to-be-kindergartener who is apparently trying out an angry rocker persona) then went into a hilarious song about dogs, school, and being mad, performed with lots of kung fu kicks and air guitar. I, by this time, was doubled over on the floor trying desperately not to laugh and give my lurking away.

Who needs cable when you’ve got kids?

Jonas-wise, I’m wondering about the MTV live stream event. Am I stupid, because I can’t find anything on MTV’s site.

  4. on August 7, 2008 at 9:10 pm thekeenanator

What’s on my mind? The boys look great when they are just relaxing on the bus. Kevin is coveting those mini wheats.

Am I really going to work in Disney in 8 days?

I want my pre ordered A Little Bit Longer Cd NOW!!!
SO EXCITED for the boys on GMA tomorrow!!!

  5. on August 7, 2008 at 9:45 pm tlatzotzontli

coolmom- Maybe the special jonasbrothers.mtv.com site won’t launch until tomorrow afternoon. I’m very curious what it will be like. It’s supposedly going to be a minute-by-minute feed. If it truly is going to be live all the time, there should be many funny moments!

  6. on August 7, 2008 at 9:59 pm coolmom

You’re probably right, I guess I was impatient. I’m excited about seeing the guys live.

  7. on August 7, 2008 at 10:05 pm Amanda

    Coolmom, lol your kids.

If I knew how to photoshop, I would put myself in this picture, snuggled right under Kev’s right arm, next to the Mini-Wheats. Of course, being there in person would be even better. I would love to chill with them. Just hangin’ out. Who wouldn’t?

I was just at the MTV site, on ‘Buzzworthy’, there are 3 short vids already of the boys talking about live blogging. Woot! Go check it out! They are adorable. Making fun of Kev, a little. But it’s all good. He’s so awesome.

  8. on August 7, 2008 at 10:06 pm Amanda

Coolmom – Loving the Sugar and Spice moment!!!!

This was my favorite MTV pre-feed video…..ooh it’s going to be so awesome….at least I hope.

Man, I wish we could have gotten those MSG tickets.

thekeenanator – Are you going to work for Disney? Awesome!

  10. on August 7, 2008 at 10:17 pm coolmom

Thanks for the link Amanda, that was fun! Of course Nick wouldn’t admit to being a little nervous about MSG. But Kevin is honest. Performing at Madison Square Garden is a HUGE thing for them, they’ve got to be a little nervous.

  11. on August 7, 2008 at 10:22 pm Amanda

I agree, Kevin is very honest. I love how in most interviews he just keeps talking until the stuff he is really trying to say finally comes out. :) Love him to pieces.

  12. on August 7, 2008 at 10:24 pm thekeenanator

I totally wish I had MSG tickets too!! It would have been great to see the boys blow the roof off that place!

Mememoi~ I am going to work for Disney through the college program!! It’s very exciting and there’s even a chance I could run into the Jonas Brothers should they be there for the filming of the Christmas parade and not in DisneyLand

  13. on August 7, 2008 at 10:24 pm mememoi

I wonder how it will work compared to last year’s feed…

I just remember that during the long broadcast day, John Taylor ended up taking the live camera out and chatting with fans for an age. I wonder how tightly MTV will insist on following the boys themselves.

(But in defense of that feed, that CD release party show was the first time I saw them perform live in real time!)

  14. on August 7, 2008 at 10:26 pm mememoi

thekeenanator – that is going to be a blast! good for you!!! :)

  15. on August 7, 2008 at 10:40 pm coolmom

I hope the boys in the back-up band get on camera too, that would be cool.

  16. on August 7, 2008 at 10:42 pm thekeenanator

    thanks!!!

The buzz worthy videos got me really excited for tomorrow!!!

  17. on August 7, 2008 at 10:58 pm Amanda

Coolmom, here, here! Garbo, Jack, Ryan and JT don’t get enough credit, in my opinion. When I was watching ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ tonight, when JB sang ‘Burnin’ Up’, who sings the higher harmony when Nick is singing by himself? It isn’t JT, I was watching and he wasn’t near his mike. Is it Ryan? Anyone know?

  18. on August 7, 2008 at 11:08 pm coolmom

My bet is Ryan, because in the LTD where they show Papa J. working harmonies with the guys, Ryan was singing with Kevin.

  19. on August 7, 2008 at 11:21 pm Amanda

Ooooh, I’ll bet you’re right, coolmom. I kept trying to see if Ryan was at his mike but they didn’t show the band at all. Or hardly at all. Wonder if that bothers them? They all seem like really nice guys, maybe they just like makin’ music and they like the JB atmosphere and they’re ok with just being ‘the band’. Plus, do you think JB pays them handsomely?! I hope so, I’ll bet they do. They all seem really close.

  20. on August 7, 2008 at 11:29 pm tlatzotzontli

I’m on the West Coast so “You Think You Can Dance” just came on. Did they perform toward the end of the show?

  21. on August 7, 2008 at 11:34 pm Amanda

Yep, I’d say 1hr 45min into the 2 hour show. I’m in Boise, we’re on Mountain Time. An hour ahead of Calif.

  22. on August 7, 2008 at 11:45 pm coolmom

OK, now I’ve seen it. I thought they all looked adorable. I liked Joe’s headband, and Nick’s bowtie.

  23. on August 7, 2008 at 11:50 pm cpaig

    Re: live feed…

I would just like to take this moment to say SQUEEEE!

    those vids were super cute!

I am also bummed about not getting tix to the MSG show.

That was our plan, Camden and MSG – Hershey was our backup. BUT, HERSHEY was wonderful beyond belief so I am not about to complain about that.

  24. on August 7, 2008 at 11:52 pm coolmom

My guess is the band is THRILLED to be working for people as nice as the Jonas Family. The life of an itinerant professional musician can be tough, good people make all the difference. And I’m sure they are well compensated, there are such things as unions, even for musicians.

    OMgoodness … http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20217447,00.html

Miley and Nick – 2 years? What – since he was 13? and the timing does not even make sense.

And if that is true, they are way too young for that kind of situation. I almost ruined my life getting into a relationship like that when I was 16. It is what scares me most about having a daughter.

I wonder what they were arguing about. I have some ideas but obviously I don’t know either of them IRL so I really am just guessing.

  26. on August 8, 2008 at 2:57 am tlatzotzontli

I read that Miley/Nick article earlier today and I agree with you, something just doesn’t make sense. It seems a little embellished. But who knows….

  27. on August 8, 2008 at 8:36 am mememoi

Hey all! Nice concert review from a MALE WRITER at the Providence Journal…

Relative to the norm, it’s a very respectable treatment of their current performance and future prospects, especially from that “grown man music fan” perspective. :)

  28. on August 8, 2008 at 9:54 am coolmom

In complete agreement re Providence review mememoi. There’s also a piece from the Cleveland Plain Dealer music critic. He gives ALBL a B, which from a legit critic is pretty nice. All in all the review is pretty respectful. What do you think?

I’ve also noticed male fans rocking out at recent appearances and mentions of guy fans in recent articles. A new world order? Are guys catching the JB fire or just looking for dates? Either way it’s not bad, yes?
