There is more to the Jonas Brothers than pop, rock and croon…we all know it.
The Boys have got soul to spare, so while they do of course use it in their regular rotation, sometimes it still needs to come out in other ways.
And it does. How else would Joe develop a somewhat krunkish split personality named DJ Danger, Kevin earn the nickname of Mufasa, or Nick become forever disconnected from his chain? Hip hop over the jump to see the Brothers “develop” their rapping skillz over the years.
This one is seminal, and the first clip that comes to mind when I think of Joe’s penchant for rapping. It always seems to involve chicken, shopping… Add in the Alex Noyes cameo and the fact that Kevin’s well-planned contribution outdoes Joe’s in terms of, well…making sense – and you have yourself a classic.
Awkward!! But actually…this is where the rapping began, with little Nick J, and a tide of awesomeness not to be denied:
At least until that time where he tried to toss a breakdance in with the rap, and (apparently – it’s up for debate) fell over like a rag doll in the process. At least judging by Joe’s reaction.
Is that more or less embarrassing than the time Joe suggested he’d buy collars for the audience? Ummm…at least he looked good and was otherwise hilarious!
He likes to take a slower paced, easy-rapping approach. Unique! I think that was for sure my all-time favorite. And we can’t leave out “Girlz”:
Lucky for us all, Joe still brings back the beats from time to time. Where Nick remains reluctant, Kev will still provide backup, or at least unnecessary encouragement.

A quality flashback post, as usual. I’ve always been quite fond of Nick J. Is Off the Chain.
I really love this blog. It’s nice to see some mature perspectives and musings on the boys. That’s pretty rare in a fandom dominated by rabid fangirls. (I suppose I’m included in that group.)
Keep up the good work! :]
Thanks so much, Enid!! From one fangirl to another, that kind of feedback means a lot.
